  • Changing terminals
    Jun 20, 2012
Hi I would like to meet my dearest friend in IAD. He is travelling from charlotte to Doha and there is connecting flight in IAD. I am planning to travel from Boston to IAD. Can I meet him at inside IAD. My question is Let say my friend arrived to D terminal and I arrived to A terminal. Will there be any security check in IAD when changing from one terminal to another terminal. Please provide me information on this.

Your & your friend's arrival at IAD depends on the Airline you take. The Main terminal - at its non-secured areas (Arrival, parts of Departure levels) is the only place you both can meet. Arrivals or departures are in either Z, A, B, C & D Concourses. Arriving passengers: Follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign. Near Ground Transportation is an Information counter where you may want to meet. Thereafter, if your connecting gates are either A or B you can walk to that concourse, or takethe underground Aerotrain to Concourses/gates A1-32, B35-79 & C1-30. For D gates you need to take a shuttle. For detailed information, open & click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS, scroll down to the description. If your friend uses Qatar on flight to Doha, I see a listing as being in the Main Terminal.

  • Is 25 minutes between flights sufficient
    Jun 20, 2012
Austin - Dallas Southwest Flight 1077 arrives at 830AM. Dallas - Kanas City Southwest flight 6 leaves at 855AM. What is the normal gates these two flights operate from?

The passenger terminal at DAL is temporarily split between Terminals 1 and 2. Southwest operates out of Terminal 2. Look at your ticket and at the overhead screen on arrival at DAL to find your connecting flight, gate number and time. You simply walk over to your next gate.

I'll be arriving from Amsterdam on june 20th at ATL and have a connecting flight to Orlando, both Delta flights. How much transfer time do I need?

    1. Delta uses domestic Concourses A, B & C, and international Concourses E & F with corresponding gates (i.e., gate A10). Your ticket and the overhead screens on arrival will indicate your connecting gate number. 2. As an international arrival you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in your bag before proceeding to your connecting gate. 3. Arriving from an international flight & transferring to a domestic flight: Follow signs to the 'Plane Train' serving all concourses in the center of their gate arrangements. Count on 40-50 mins for customs procedure; add another 20 minutes to arrive at your connecting gate, to be on the safe side.

Hello, I will be arriving in LAX Terminal 4 with AA and my next flight is an international flight. I'd like to buy some pipe tobacco like Davidoff and Sillem's, so I am wondering if the DFS in Terminal 4 would have those products? Do you have their phone number? Thank you very much!

  • enough time
    Jun 12, 2012
I have a connecting flight at ord terminal 3 same airline same terminal . Is 35 min enough time to get to my gate

At ORD, Terminal 3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates (i.e., G13). Look at your ticket and on arrival at ORD at overhead screen to find your gate number and departure time. Then follow signs to your gate. You have enough time.

How long does it take to get from concourse/gate c19 to concourse/gate B10?

Both gates are in Terminal 1: Concourse B at its center connects to Concourse C - you have a short walk.

  • Transit Time
    Jun 5, 2012
Hello. I reach Wasington Dulles Airport at 1500hrs and have a connection to Las Vegas on United at 2030hrs. Will I have enough time to take a taxi to downtown for an hour and come back again in time for the United flight, considering my bags would be through checked in from my International departure airport?

    1. IAD is 26 miles from Washington center. Arriving domestic flights and flights from airports with U.S. border preclearance are serviced directly at the concourses, while flights arriving from any other airport are processed through the International Arrivals Building (IAB). (If you are an international arrival, that process would take you 35-50 mins. 2. During the busiest airport hours of 5:30am - 8am, 11am - 1pm, and 3:30pm - 5:30pm, it is advisable to arrive at the Main Terminal no later than two hours prior to scheduled domestic flights and three hours for international flights. 3. United serves Concourses A through D with corresponding gates (i.e., B35). I would not advise you to leave the Airport. To familiarize yourself with layout and transfer options, open and click on "Quick Links" - "Terminal Map"; under the map are details and how to get around.

They just started to install vending machines taking also cash. Ask in the arrivals area where to find one.

  • Any PRE SECURITY eating places??
    Mar 22, 2013
Are there any PRE SECURITY restaurants to meet travelers other than fast food places?

At MSP, between Concourses F & G is the Itasca Grille.

You have to go thru security to get anywhere in the concourse areas.

  • Buying wine by the bottle
    May 21, 2012
We will have a layover in Seattle before going on to Fairbanks Alaska. Is there a store to buy wine by the bottle while in the airport?

Try the duty-free stores at either Satellite North, Gate N9 or Satellite South, near the escalator.

I will have 34 minutes assuming my flight arrives at DTW on time to get from Delta terminal EM to Delta terminal 3 is it possible I will make it I walk with a cane.

DTW does not have a Terminal EM or Terminal 3. Delta is in the McNamara Terminal of Detroit Metro Airport DTW. This terminal has three concourses A, B & C: Concourse A has to the left gates A1-38; to the right gates A40-75, and at its center the tunnel connecting to Concourses B & C. Concourse B (American Eagle) has gates B1-21. Concourse C (American), has gates C8-43, arranged in five clusters, four of which have three gates on each side, the last cluster has gates C32-43. An elevator between Concourses B & C leads to the Lower Level gates C1 to C7. Alert your flight attendant early that you will need assistance to get to your connecting gate. NOTE: Concourse A of McNamara has 1.5 miles of moving walkways, but also uses the Express Tram serving the South station near gate A11, the Terminal station in the center near the water feature, and the North station near gate A67.

  • Connecting flight from AA to Eva Airline
    May 16, 2012
Hello!! I will be arriving in LAX terminal 4 and have to get on to Eva Airways terminal B.... Could you tell me the easiest way for me to get to Eva and how far is it from Terminal 4 to Terminal B b/c I only have less than an hour to get to my connecting flight.

While you have 2 choices to get from LAX's Terminals 4 to 8, you need to exit T4 in either case: (a) walking: Walk to T5 to the right, take escalator down to the tunnel connecting T5, 6 & 7; exit T7 and use walkway to T8. (b) Shuttle: Take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island (in front of each terminal), under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. - 4 stops taking 10 mins. (At T8 you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

please help my husband has a breathing machine should we bring it on carry on or should we pack it checked bags

Put it either in your carry-on or (if it doesn't fit) in an open bag and alert the attendant at the security checkpoint that you will bring the device onboard.

Will the airport allow me to go thru security to meet my son at the gate when he arrives? He is 13 and I am hesitant to let him try to find his way thru the airport at both Dallas and Atlanta.

I understand that your son departs DFW and arrives at ATL airports - both of which are large and I suggest that your son opens both sites to familiarize himself with the layout of the passenger terminals: he should open or, and click on "Terminal Map" Found at the upper left side under "Quick Links". Arrival/Departure from Terminals, Concourses and gates are mainly determined by which airline he uses. His ticket will show the gate number. Also, the ifly site will show under the Quick Links "Flights & Airlines and their location. You are not allowed beyond the security checkpoint. Depending on the Airline, he will arrive either at the North or South terminal, or at Concourses T, A through E. Concourses A-E are connected in the center by the APM train. Concourse T can be reached by foot. You can meet him in the Atrium, in front of the Main Security checkpoint.
