  • Confused by AS baggage policy
    Mar 30, 2015
AS phone agent said it is possible to thru check my baggage from YVR to SFO but the web policy does not agree. I have separate bookings travelling AS 2033 YVR - SEA and then AS 308 SEA - SFO Thu 7 May. Connection time 75mins. Do you know if bags are transhipped and if not is 75mins enough time to collect bags and recheck.

  • Global Entry
    Mar 30, 2015
I am looking at a United flight itinerary from Costa RIca, connecting through IAH to IAD. The connection is 1 hour 56 minutes, and we will have luggage checked. Is this enough time to clear customs and recheck luggage? Would a Global Entry card get us through faster? We are US citizens.

Yes, that should be enough time, and yes, Global Entry would help to some extent.

  • ICN to BOS via DTW
    Mar 30, 2015
I am arriving at DTW from Seoul, before connecting to a domestic flight to Boston. Is a 1hr50min connection enough time to go through US immigration and take my bags through customs before the next flight?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • MSP to DFW to CUN
    Mar 30, 2015
First time flyer - we have a connecting flight in DFW coming from MSP with final stop in CUN. Same plane, 50 minute stop. Do we get off the plane? My thought is with same plane, we won't be late for connecting flight? What's the protocol?

Are both flights on Sun Country? You will likely be asked to briefly deplane so that they can clean the aircraft. They will also check passports upon boarding for Cancun, which is unnecessary for the flight to Dallas.

Sun Country both legs. Appreciate the feedback

  • Connecting from Hawaiian air(T2) to either T6 or T4. Which is easiest?
    Mar 30, 2015
Need help, not familiar with LAX terminal. I'm flying in on Hawaiian (T2) but not sure whether to book flt on US Air(T6) or American air(T4). Both have a 1hr layover time. Any recommendations?

Both are likely the same flight. US Airways and American Airlines merged recently. If you have checked baggage and are purchasing a second separate ticket, 1 hour is not enough time to make your connection. Even without checked baggage, it will be very difficult to make that connection in an hour.

  • connections between terminals
    Mar 30, 2015
arriving with my child from Paris with united airlines flight 986 (terminal 5) than flying to LAX with united airlines also (terminal 1) I have around 2 hours ,is it enough? and what r the procedures and the best way to get connected thk u

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go up two levels to the ATS Train and take it to Terminal 1, then go through security and to your departure gate. 2 hours should be enough time.

  • ewr to Fra
    Mar 30, 2015
Hi, I will be flying from Cleveland to EWR(terminl c) and EWR(terminal b) to Frankfurt. Is it easy to do the connections? I will need to collect my luggage and go through again? because i bought my tickets through Lufthansa but I will use United as well to come EWR but from EWR to Frankfurt I will fly with Lufthansa. Also, I have 2 hours do you think is this enough time?

You will not have to claim your bags in Newark, they will be transferred to your Lufthansa flight. United operates a shuttle bus from their gates in C terminal to the Lufthansa gates in Terminal B inside security. You will have plenty of time.

I will be arriving from Paris and want to fly to Corpus Christi. How much time is good for a connecting flight and allow for customs

If you are buying two separate tickets I would recommend 3 hours. If you are booking tickets together and you arrive in the country in Houston, 2 hours should be sufficient. If you arrive in the country at another port of entry, you will only need 1 hour in Houston.

  • United Airlines (Belfast)BFS - EWR - (Bogota)BOG
    Mar 30, 2015
Is 2 hours 20 minutes sufficient time between flights into and out of EWR as above? Will I need to pass through immigration? customs?security? I think both flights use terminal C

Yes, in Newark you will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then if you arrived in Terminal B, take the AirTrain to Terminal C, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time. Make sure that you complete ESTA if you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver Program country or get a US Transit Visa if you are not.

  • Worried about making our flight connection
    Mar 30, 2015
We will be flying into ATL on Delta from Detroit. I searched for days for the perfect flight with enough layover time in ATL. Found it, booked it. Just received an email telling me now instead of almost 2 hours, it is down to 43 minutes. I will have my 84 year old Mother with me, there is no way she can handle running to find our gate. I wish I knew which gates we would be dealing with. Is there anyway to have a cart/shuttle reserved to take us? Thank you

You can request wheelchair service. Otherwise you can also call Delta and request an earlier flight from Detroit if there is one. There are lots of flights from Detroit to Atlanta on Delta. They should be required to accomodate you as this was an involuntary schedule change.

You can go to the ATL airport website and enter your airline plus flight number (both found on confirmation email/letter) for your arriving and departing flight and it will tell you which gate.

Exact gates change daily and the exact gates won't be known until the day of your flight.

  • Customs time
    Mar 30, 2015
My husband is coming into the States with his packet from the embassy abroad with his immigrant visa. We will be heading to Phoenix, but JFK will be the first point of entry in the US. Therefore he will have to do whatever it is he needs to with his packet in NY. We have 2 hours between flights. Will that be enough time?

Assuming his tickets were purchased together, that should be enough time.

  • From MAN to ZAG, stopped 40min @ MUC, is this enough???
    Mar 30, 2015
Hi, I'm flying on 17.04. from Manchester to Zagreb wtih stop in MUC. Flights are LH2503 by LH and LH5998 by Croatia Airlines. This is booked by my company on Lufthansa and it is obvious lufthansa suggestion if you check on LH web. Is 40 min enough to make a connection between flights with only backpack and without checking any bag in. Thanks in advance. Damir

It's probably enough. Munich isn't as big as Frankfurt and you won't be entering the Schengen area so no passport control. It depends on the first flight being on-time though.

Thank you very much. I hope this will be OK,

  • MAD --> FCO --> MXP
    Mar 29, 2015
I'm thinking of purchasing a ticket from MAD to MXP via FCO, all operated by Alitalia. I have 65 minutes to make my connection in FCO. Is this enough time? I'm a little worried because this is the last flight from FCO to MXP for the day, and I have a flight booked on another airline/ticket the following morning out of MXP that I can't miss.

Also, I don't expect to check bags, BUT if Alitalia forces me to check my luggage, will my luggage make it to my connecting flight (to MXP)?

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time, but as you may know, Alitalia isn't exactly known for being punctual. Both flights will be in Terminal 1 and it should be a very simple connection.

  • 1hr 40mins Layover... Is that enough
    Mar 29, 2015
I am arriving at Chicago ORD Terminal 5 from Dublin (Aerlingus) at 13.50 my connecting flight to Dallas Fort Worth with United Airlines is at 15.30 in Terminal 2. Is 1hr 40 mins enough time to get to my connecting flight or will I end up missing my flight? I fly in November.

If your tickets were purchased together that should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do is take the ATS Train from T5 to your departure terminal (check your departure gate first, many DFW flights, even on United Express leave from Terminal 1) and then go through security.

It was all booked together through aer lingus. Do I need to go through customs in Chicago at all? Is it just a matter of rechecking my bag? Thanks for your help. I was in a bit of a panic

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. Your arrival into Chicago will be like a domestic flight. You don't have to do anything with your bag.

That is great news. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully it will all work out.

  • Is the time connecting between c and e terminals
    Mar 29, 2015
Is there enough time to connect on a domestice arrival on United in terminal C and leaving on an International flight on United in terminal E with only 40 minute connection time.

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You can walk directly from C to E.

How long is the walk. Worst case scenario.

    15 minutes worst case scenario
