  • layover time for int'l flight

hello, I have a 45 minute layover in between my SAN - IAD flight to board my IAD-BAH flight. Is this enough time? I know at other airports I have to go through security a second time to get into the Int'l terminal. Is this not the case at IAD? many thanks!

IAD does not have a separate international terminal. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be on the C/D concourse. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • san juan - atlanta- amsterdam. 48 min-Enough time?

flying from San juan domestic (terminal S) and have 48 minutes to conecting flight to Amsterdam I, will we have enough time and how do we get between the two terminals?

You don't actually have to change terminals. You just have to take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse (could be T, A, B, or C) to your departure concourse (E or F). You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • 6hours layover enough to go out of the airport

Flight from Amsterdam to Honolulu with 6hours layover in Seattle purchased in 1 ticket. Would it be possible to get out of the airport to meet a friend for a couple of hours or isn`t it allowed to exit the security zone as my final destination is Hawaii? Despite the immigration time..

Seattle is a tricky airport. If you are a connecting passenger off an international flight after customs you follow a route to re-check your bags, then go back through security, then you are back in the secure area. Passengers ending their journey in seattle follow a different route and have to put their bags on a conveyor to be taken to the baggage claim and then take a train to the main terminal. If you do want to see your friend, you can do that, but you will have to first follow the path for a connecting passenger and re-check your bag and go through security. Then you will take the train to another concourse, such as A or B. Then you can walk from A or B to the baggage claim where you will be outside the secure area. There are no checks for people exiting the secure area. To get to your departure gate, head back through security and to your departure concourse. So, generally, yes, it is possible, but it's a big hassle.

  • Flying domestic into terminal A and transfer to terminal B for Zurich

United express lands at 8.30 pm and Swiss Airlines departs at 10.00PM then what is the best way to go from terminal A to B without security. Does the shuttle bus is just between the terminals or to other places too. its a one ticket so i think i dont have to recheck them. Please advise Thanks, also provide information if available from B terminal which gate Swiss airlines operate for Zurich Thanks .

Yes, the shuttle bus is the only connection inside security. The shuttle bus takes you to the same part of Terminal B where the Swiss flight departs. It appears to use gate B67.

Looking for estimated times to arrive delta, pick up luggage, check in to iceland air, travel to gate

    That should be enough time.

Hi I am due to arrive at Washington from LAX at 18.00 and then depart at 18.40 for MAN [UK]. Flying with UNITED Is this enough time for the connection? Seems rather 'tight'

That is enough time but leaves very little to spare in case you have a delay. Both flights will be on the C/D concourse and all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hi- flying from newcastle UK to sacramento all on united , when I land at Newark and go through immigration will I have to pick up my cases or will they go direct on to the next flight because it is the same carrier ( united) , also is 2 hours long enough to go through immigration and get to my departure terminal

Yes, in Newark you will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then you can re-check your bags at the transfer desk. Your next flight will depart from Terminal A or C. If you arrived at Terminal B you will have to take the AirTrain to your departure terminal. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • CUN / DFW / HNL

Hi Flying with AA from Cancun, with a 5 hr connection in DFW before next AA flight to Honolulu. Not sure what Terminal I will arrive in, and then depart from. Any info would be appreciated. as there is nothing noted on my Itinerary. Tks

You will arrive in Terminal D and likely depart in Terminal D as well. Even if you don't all terminals are connected inside security by the SkyLink train.

Thanks Zap. Because the flight out of DFW is also with AA, is that why you think a Terminal D departure is likely ? Otherwise how do you find out what terminal the flight departs from ?

  • Meeting arrivals at terminal 4 after arriving at terminal 7

I have to meet some friend at terminal 4 but I will be arriving at terminal 7. Should I just cab aline it or meet them to share a cab

A cab from JFK to Manhattan is about $60. So if you can meet up with them that would be preferable. You can take the AirTrain from T4 to T7 and meet them on the arrivals level. Better yet, if you are going to Manhattan you could take the AirTrain to the LIRR or Subway there. It's much less expensive and usually faster than a taxi.

Does grand cayman have pre- clearance to the U.S.?

No, it does not. The only locations in the Caribbean that do are Nassau, Freeport, Aruba, and Bermuda (if you consider that part of the Caribbean). And of course you do not need a passport to visit St. Thomas, St. Croix, or Puerto Rico.

  • transfer from international to international

I'm looking at at ticket that arrives at terminal 5 and departs from terminal 2. Both are international flights, meaning I will not actually enter the US. Do I still need to go through baggage claim and immigration? Also, will 1hr 35min be enough time for the transfer?

The flight is from ICN (Asiana) to YYZ (Air Canada) with a connection in ORD.

Yes, you will still have to go through US Immigration, claim your bag, go through US Customs, re-check your bag at the transfer desk, take the ATS Train to T2 and go through security. 1 hr 35 minutes would be about the bare minimum possible for this connection.

Flying in from YXE. We have 75 minute layover before flying out to BOS. Are we in same concourse area?? Will we have to clear security and/or customs ?? Flying on Delta airlines on Friday January 30.

Yes, you upon arrival in MSP You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags if you have checked bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security and to your departure gate. Your flights may be close to each other but the Boston flights can leave from several different concourses.

  • BOS --> SFO --> Auk, NZ and return... Min layover recommended?
    Jan 29, 2015

I'm flying roundtrip BOS-SFO-AUK in May on Air NZ but the US domestic leg is operated by United. Some options allow only 1.5hrs connection in SFO. I'm concerned that it may not be enough, ESPECIALLY on the return if I have to go through immigration at SFO. What should I look for as minimum layover times for both outbound and return? Thanks, Carlos

On the way there an hour should be sufficient. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Terminal 3 where you arrive and concourse G of the International Terminal where you depart are connected inside security by a walkway. On the return I would look for 1.5-2 hours since you will have to go through Immigration, customs, and security in SFO.

  • What's faster

four of us in our late 20s all in relatively good shape need to get from concourse A to E in 1 hour 18min my question to you is would walking be faster than taking the plane train that stops a few times?

Unless you are an NCAA middle-distance runner looking to get some work in, the train is the way to go.

thanks that was the answer I was looking for!
