  • Enough time for connection to Lima? Tips?
    Sep 20, 2014
    0
At less than 24 hours notice, owing to strike action by Air France pilots, we've been transferred to United for our flight to Peru from Manchester, UK tomorrow morning. We'll be arriving into Newark (B) at 12.25 and the onward flight is from terminal C at 14.15. Does this give us enough time? Any tips for getting through as quickly as possible? Will our bags be transferred (as our destination is outside the USA) or will we have to go through customs? Many thanks in anticipation!

I have a connecting flight from STL at Terminal 2 to Zurich Terminal 5 with 2 hours 47 minutes. Is that enough time to get from 2 to 5 and to through security. I will have 1 travel bag back pack

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

  • Travel to DCA connecting at JFK
    Sep 20, 2014

Hello!! We arrive at JFK from Madrid, Spain, in Iberia flight 6253, at 6:35 pm on Terminal 7. Afterwards, we continue to Washington, DCA, in American Airlines flight (operated by American Eagle) AA 3621 departing from Terminal 8 at 8:30 pm. We have purchased the flights separatelly. I understand that we are supposed to go through US Immigration, claim our bags, go through Terminal 8 by the Airtrain connection and then re-check the luggage with American Eagle. I'm worried if we will have time enough to make the connection. And, even we bought the flights separatelly, as Iberia and American Airlines have an association at One World Alliance, may the bags be directly checked from Madrid to Washington? Thanks at advanced, for your answer.

You should have enough time but you'll have to hurry to T8 to re-check your bags. Also, you will have to pay a checked bag fee to check your bag with American. However, yes, since Iberia and AA are in Oneworld you can show your AA confirmation to IB in MAD and maybe they will check your bags through for you. However, you will still have to claim them to go through US Customs. However, if they are tagged through to DCA you can re-check them in T7 instead of having to take them with you to T8. You also avoid having to pay a checked bag fee if you can make this happen.

Thanks a lot, ZAP, I hope the flight from Madrid be on time!! That's my first time with AA in connection. Only another question: my AA ticket has no bag checked, so I guess I must pay the fee at the check-in desk. But, may I do it in advance in order to save time? At the website I had no chance to do it when making the reservation. Thanks again

Yes, you can pay online for the bag if you do the web checkin online.

We are arriving from Denver on United at 8:27 pm and departing Terminal 5 on Turkish Air at 10:15 pm. Enough time?....is terminal 1 first to load on ATS shuttle? What is average wait time for ATS at that time of day? Thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. There are two stops between T1 and T5 on the ATS train. At that time of day there is 5 minutes between trains.

Arriving Cape Air terminal C, departing United terminal B. Is 40 min enough connection time, and must I to go through security again?

40 minutes will be very difficult - you will have to go through security in Terminal B. Be sure to check in for your United flight online before you leave on your Cape Air flight. I know that sometimes if passengers have tight connections Cape Air will drive you to your departing gate and let you into the terminal inside security.

First time in an airport. Staying overnight at Airport Marriott to catch early morning flight. How do I get from Airport Marriott to Terminal A-West? Do I have to go outside and catch shuttle or can I do walk it from inside? How long does it take?

The Marriott is connected directly to Terminal B via a skybridge. From there you can walk to Terminal A if necessary.

  • Qatar airways to alitalia transfer

Hi, this is my first time traveling to Italy. My flight plan is kul - fco (on qatar) - trs (on alitalia). 1) Can I check in for both the FCO and TRS flight from KUL? Or can I only check in for the TRS flight in FCO? 2) Can I check in my bags straight through to TRS from KUL? 3) I arrive at FCO at 12:40pm in T3 and my TRS flight is at 2:50pm at T1. Do I have sufficient time for the transfer? Thank you.

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? If together you will be able to check your bags through to TRS. You should have enough time for your transfer. You will go through Schengen immigration as you go from T3 to T1.

I purchased my tickets separately. Will I be able to check my bags through to TRS?

Then you probably will not and it will be hard for you to make your transfer on-time.

Hi, is the following Routing doable? CVG - IAD (United), arriving 4:06 pm IAD - MUC (United), leaving 5:20 pm Thanks in advance, Dominik

Yes, that should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will arrive on A, C, or D and depart from C or D. A is connected to C/D by the mobile lounge and aerotrain inside security.

My flight arrives at terminal B 9:18am and departs from terminal E at 10am - is this enough time??

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. The TerminaLink Train connects all Terminals inside security. Also, your flight from DCA will arrive in Terminal C, not Terminal B. Terminal C is directly connected to Terminal E.

    Great, thank you!

we will be arriving on Delta south term. at 4:50 and departing from Maynard Jackson Int. term at 5:30. considering that gates usually close 20 early is doable?

You will not actually arrive at the south terminal. Delta domestic flights arrive at one of the several midfield concourses. They are all connected to each other, and to the International Concourses, by the plane train, which runs underground inside security. Gates do not usually close 20 minutes early. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time but you don't have much time to spare in case of delays.

  • Southwest-Delta Connection

We are flying to Maui from LAX on Dec 23rd on Delta Terminal 5 departing at 8:15 am. We arrive on Southwest at 7:00 am on Southwest Terminal 1. Do we have enough time to make it we have no checked luggage?

It may be possible if your Southwest flight is early and you run really fast, but it will be really difficult as you will have to go through security again in Terminal 5. I recommend that you change your Southwest flight to one the night before and get a hotel.

  • Delta Connection Layover 58 minutes

My flight arrives at 7:41 and all it says is Domestic South Terminal ... but my connecting flight, also Delta, departs at 8:39 from Gate E34. By looking at the map, that appears to be at the complete opposite end of the airport. Assuming I deboard quickly, and don't have to go through any checks or customs (domestic flight), is that going to be do-able?

Actually, it looks like the plane comes in from an international flight at Gate E34, but it departs on my domestic flight from Domestic South. So I might be okay! Is it normal for flights to land at one gate, drop passengers, then move to another gate for a different departure?

No flights actually "come into" the domestic terminal South. All flights use the various midfield concourses. If your first flight is domestic, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All concourses are connected to each other by the plane train. You don't actually have to go to the Domestic terminal.

Calgary flight to Fort Myers connects in Houston. Only 45 min between flights. Is that enough time to get from Terminal A to C?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary. The TerminaLink train connects all Terminals inside security.
