My family is flying in from London to Orlando, with a layover in Newark. When doing the layover and going through customs, will they have to go through and out of the secure area of terminal b, take the airtrain to terminal c and then have to recheck their bags and go through security again? Or will their bags just transfer to their next flight? If so, can they take the shuttle bus to the other terminal so they don't have to go through security again?

I am flying Delta from Buffalo to Roanoke VA with a layover in ATL. The ticket I want to get only has a 50 minute layover in ATL. I have never been on a plane before and I am flying alone. Will I have enough time to make my connecting flight?

  • Connection time BTV-ORD-CUN

I'm flying United with a 51 minute connection time at O'Hare. I believe arrival and departure flights will both be at Terminal 1, but possibly different concourses. I'd like to carry on my bag, but I'm sure it will have to be gate-checked due to the small size of the BTV-ORD plane. Will there be enough time to wait for the bag upon arrival in Chicago? Or would I be better off to check it through instead of carrying on?

You're probably still better off carrying on. Your flight from BTV will actually likely arrive in Terminal 2. But T2 and T1 are connected by a walkway inside security. You have enough time if your BTV flight is on-time.

    Thank you.

I will be traveling from Denver to LAX on SWA and can land at 9:45 in June, have luggage at baggage claim and transfer to HA for 1:30 flight. Is this enough time, knowing that HA is usually iready to close doors at noted departure time

Yes, that should be enough time, especially considering that you just have to go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2.

  • SQ connect to DL

Hi, we are arriving into JFK, supposedly T4 on SQ. Our connection flight to MCO is on DL. I reckon we have to clear immigration, collect our baggage and travel to DL terminal to re-check in the baggage? Is there a DL counter in Terminal 4 that we can check-in our baggage and get our boarding passes before we take the train to DL terminal? Tks!

    DL's terminal IS Terminal 4.

Oh, I thought DL operates from T2 as well.

I will be arriving at JFK on a Delta flight from Italy (Terminal 4) and transferring to a Delta Connections domestic flight (likely Terminal 2). After exiting customs in Terminal 4, what is best way to get to Terminal 2? Does Delta have a dedicated shuttle for such transfers? If not, is it generally faster to go through security at Terminal 4 and take Delta's JITNEY or to take the AirTrain to Terminal 2 and go through security there?

Delta recently opened an expansion of T4 and nearly all Delta connection flights operate from there now. If you are one of the rare flights operating from T2, since you will be outside security already after clearing customs, it's probably fastest to take the AirTrain.

  • 41 Min Layover Enough time ?!

First Time Flyer, young kid, can run if needed haha! Leaving Boston 7:00 am, arriving in EWR at 8:27, 9:08 flight to SRQ. Both United Airlines and both bought on same itinerary. Will I be at the same Terminal when I arrive, if not where do I go and how long does it take? Any tips would help! Thanks

Both flights should be in Terminal C. You just need to run between gates and hope your first flight is on-time.

Thanks Zap:), you almost positive it should be in Terminal C?

All Mainline domestic flights (Flight number under 2000) arrive in C. Also, all United Express flight flown by the Dash 400 aircraft also arrive in C.

Unfortunately my layover is super short - flying in from Denver with United (Terminal 7 or 8 it seems) and I have to make it to the international terminal in about 40 minutes. I know I already have to make it through security again but do I have to recheck my bags? Insight would be appreciated if I should even attempt this.

Assuming you purchased all your tickets together, your bags should be transferred automatically.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I read that you have to go through security again when entering the international terminal. My flight lands all 11:35 PM. Anyone have any insight as to how busy it might be?

There are a number of flights to the South Pacific and Asia that leave around that time, but security lines are still reasonable 5-10 minutes.

Hi, I've travelling from LHR - ORD - LAX, I've 1 hour 50 mins between flights from ORD to LAX. Arriving terminal 5 and connecting flight from Terminal 3. We are 4 adults and 1 child and we will have few checked-in bags and hand luggage.. Travelling by American Airline - LHR - ORD - LAX - do I still have to claim bags and recheck it?

Yes, after Immigration, you will have to claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS Train to T3 and go through security. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thanks, lets hope its on time, looking to see if I can get priority bag tags and priority security option to save some time... thanks again

  • Layover of 55 minutes

I am flying from Jacksonville to San Francisco by Delta. I have a 55 minutes lay over at Atlanta & air craft will have to be changed, will 55 minutes be sufficient? I will be having check in luggage

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

Looking at MKE -> ATL #DL771 arrives 9:04AM, Departure is #DL509 to PLS. I'm guessing I can make the flight if things are on time but worried about my bags. Another option on AA is through CLT (but still only 50 minute layover). Will i make the connection in ATL?

Or guess I should better say...will my bags make the connection?

The 50 minute connection at CLT would probably be easier and safer.

  • London Heathrow to Pittsburgh via EWR

Hi, I'm flying into EWR from London Heathrow, and then onto Pittsburgh. I have 1h30 to make the connection. Is that likely to be enough time? Will I need to collect my bags, clear immigration, and re-check in for my second flight? Or can I clear immigration in Pittsburgh? (I don't have a US passport (UK) so worried about how long it might take to clear immigration.)

You have the procedure correct. You will do everything in Newark. 90 minutes is possible but leaves very little time to spare in case there is a delay.
