  • 1 Hr 39 Min enough time for Delta DOM Delta (AirF) Int'l Transfer?

We're booked on Delta 1698 from SF arriving at 4:39 for a transfer to Rome on Air France (Operated by Delta) AF 3591 at 5:54. Is this enough time in July, 7/15? Thank you!!!

Yes., that should be plenty of time to make your transfer. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

We are flying into JFK on AA and arrive at 4:05 pm. Our AA flight to Rome leaves at 4:45 pm. Gates are across from each other - is this enough time or should we book an earlier flight into JFK?

We have a AA flight from SFO to JFK arriving at 4:05 pm. Our AA flight to Rome leaves at 4:45 pm. Are we going to be able to make that flight? We are carrying on our luggage.

It is possible. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 8. However it obviously leaves very little time to spare if the first flight is delayed.

Is 90 minutes enough time to connect with flight to charlotte after arriving in ATL from Dublin? Both flights are with Delta airlines and we have checked baggage.

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse.

hi i have a flight arriving at 12:35 pm with swiss air from zurich and have booked a flight seperately with delta to boston at 3:30 pm. is that enough time? do i have to pick up my luggage in between flights?

Yes, that should be enough time. And yes, you will have to pick up your bags anyway to go through US Customs. Since you are purchasing a separate ticket you will then have to take them to the Delta check in counter and pay a fee to check them to Boston.

I fly in from Tampa to Atlanta and then connect to YYZ. Is that considered an International gate? Any idea if I would make it if the connecting flight leaves 35 mins after the Tampa flight arrives? I only need to pick up any bags in ATL

You do not have to pick up bags in Atlanta. Yes, Toronto flights do leave from the International gates (E concourse), however from a functional standpoint it's like any connection. Take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse and get on the plane. you can make it if the first flight is on-time, but it leaves no time to spare.

  • Enough time? Changing terminals
    May 28, 2015

My son is on a flight Saturday from Houston to Atlanta then Atlanta to Myrtle Beach SC with a 51 minute layover. Will he likely have to change terminals and how hard is it if necessary?

No, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. They may be on different concourses but all concourses are connected inside security by the Plane Train. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • 30 minute layover with gate checked stroller

I only have 30 minutes between flights, flying southwest both flights, and will need to gate check a stroller. Will I have enough time to grab stroller and make connection? Very nervous about traveling with infant.

You can probably make it. It obviously depends on the first flight being on-time.

  • Enough time in between connections?

My family and I will be arriving on a United flight and connecting to a Delta flight. We have two hours to collect our baggage, check in with Delta and go through security...is less than two hours enough time?

What airport? Is your United flight international or domestic?

  • Time between flights

I have a flight on the 30th of May from Bucharest to Syracuse Hancock International with connection on JFK. I land on JFK at 19:00 on terminal 1 and my next flight(for Syracuse)with Delta Airlines is at 21:50. It is my first flight to the USA and I am coming with a F1 student visa. Can you please tell me if I have to complete my I-94 form on JFK? And if I have to do that in there, do I have time to arrive at the next flight? Should I claim my baggage if I have only one ticket from Bucharest to Syracuse? Thank you very much!

They will have you fill out your I-94 form on the plane. You should have plenty of time. You will have to claim your luggage to go through US Customs but you can re-check it at the transfer desk right after customs. Then you will take the AirTrain from T1 to T4 and go through security.

  • BCN- ZRH- ORD 1hr 15 min layover
    May 28, 2015

HI, Flying from BCN to ORD with a layover in ZRH. All flights on Swiss Air. I am curious if anyone knows if 1 hour 15 minutes will be sufficient time for this connection. From reading the forum, I do not believe I will need to go through customs since both BCN and ZHR fall in Schengen zone? Can anyone confirm if 1 hour 15 minutes will give me enough time? Thank you in advance!

Yes, that should be enough time. You will have to go through Schengen Exit passport control in Zurich but that is a short formality.

Thanks! Looks like you responded to both my 55 minute Frankfort and the 1 hr 15 min Zurich inquiry. Do you think Zurich is the better choice given the extra 20 minutes? I've never been to either airport. ZRH connection would both be Swiss Air and FRA connection would both be Lufthansa. Appreciate your feedback!!

Yes, More time and a simpler airport with Zurich. Zurich is also less out of your way than Frankfurt.

THANK YOU!! That's the choice I made!

  • Delayed flight
    May 28, 2015

Hi, my husband is traveling from AMS to SFO with a connecting flight at EWR. Flight from AMS was delayed by 2.5 hours. He arrives EWR at 2:24pm and flight to SFO is at 3pm. Does he have to go through immigration at EWR? If he is not able to make his connecting flight to SFO what does he have to do? There is only one booking for this flight, and it's a united flight. Thanks.

Yes, in EWR he will have to go through US Immigration, claim his bags, go through US Customs, then re-check his bag at the transfer desk, then go through security. He will be rebooked on a later flight to San Francisco. In fact, if you log in to his itinerary on United.com you can probably see if he already has.

  • Arr T2 from LAX - Dep T1 - Luggage
    May 28, 2015

Please help. We arrive from LAX in Terminal 2, and depart Terminal 1 with 2-1/2 hr layover. Our luggage will not transfer airlines. What procedure do we follow for customs & luggage, & how to we get from one terminal to the other.

Assuming your flight into Terminal 2 is from a foreign county that is not Canada, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then Exit Terminal 2, go left (against the flow of traffic). The next building you come to will be Terminal 1. You will then go inside and re-check your bags with Southwest and go through security. Check in online 24 hours before your Southwest flight for a better seating priority. You should have enough time.

Thank you for your help. By the way, we are flying from the US on American Airlines (T2), and flying out using Lufthansa (T1). Are the terminals extremely far apart in Frankfurt (that is, easily walkable)?

Sorry, I thought you were connecting at LAX. Disregard what I said. Terminals 1 and 2 at Frankfurt are connected inside security by a train and outside security by a shuttle bus. You will arrive in Terminal 2. GO through Schengen Passport control, claim your luggage, and exit customs. Then take the shuttle bus to Terminal 1 and re-check your baggage with Lufthansa.

Excellent revision. Thank you and I look forward to smooth sailing through Frankfurt.

  • BCN- FRA- ORD Lufthansa 55 minute layover
    May 28, 2015

Hi, I am curious if 55 minutes will be enough time on a layover from BCN to ORD. From my understanding, in reading through these posts, since I am coming from Barcelona, I will not have to go through passport control. Since this is all Lufthansa, my checked baggage should go all the way to Chicago. Will 55 minutes be enough time to make this connection? Thanks in advance!

You will have to go through Schengen exit passport control, but that's a few second formality. It is enough time, but Frankfurt is a big airport and you may have to run to make it on-time.

  • From Amsterdam to San Antonio

I am arriving to MSP from Amsterdam. My final destination is San Antonio, TX. I have 1h 25 min between the arrival and the departure. Is it enough time to clear the customs and check in? Thanks

You will already be checked in for your flight to San Antionio. In Minneapolis you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, and go through security. You should have enough time (barely) if your flight from Amsterdam is on-time.
