In March 2015 my family will be travelling from LHR to PLC via MIA. Our flight from LHR is scheduled to arrive at MIA at 17.15hrs. Our connecting flight to PLS (Turks&Caicos Islands) is scheduled to departs MIA at 18.55hrs. Both flights are booked with American Airlines. Will there be enough time to catch the flight to PLS?

Yes, and while you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs, as an International to International connection, you will not have to collect your bags and re-check them.

I have 55 minutes to get from Gate F to Gate C. What is the fastest route? Do I have go through security ?

The F concourse and C concourse are connected inside security by a walkway and then an underground tunnel. It will be about a 15 minute walk.

Thinking of flying from London Heathrow to Winnipeg Canada via MSP, one flight allows 1hr 50mins between landing and take off - is this sufficient time to clear customs, collect luggage & check in?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hello, we are flying next week from LAX to IAH and from IAH to Mexico City. Is 52 minutes enough time for connection? Do we need to pick up luggage and re-check in bags in IAH or would the Airline move luggage from first plane to second? Thanks for your help.

Assuming you purchased both flights together your bags will be tagged through to MEX and you won't have to do anything with your bags in IAH. You should have enough time. You will likely arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E, which is directly connected to C.

I come in at gate 66 and have a 30 minute connection. I have to get to gate 86. Considering they close the doors 15 minutes before departure, is this enough time?

They usually do not close the doors 15 minutes before departure. Your connection is doable but really requires that your first flight be on-time.

    Thank you

Hi, I'm flying to Dubai via ATL on 10/31. I'm scheduled to arrive in ATL at 8:58 pm. My flight to Dubai departs at 9:47. Is there enough time to make this connection?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is domestic. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to concourse E/F where your Dubai flight will depart.

i am flying from Istanbul, Turkey to IAD dulles and have 1 hour and 30 min as layover time to connect to my flight to SFO . Will i have to reclaim my bag and go through US customs?

Yes, you will arrive in the International Arrivals Building, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and take the Aerotrain to Concourse C where your flight to SFO will depart (assuming it is on United).

I was wondering if weather is a factor for United arriving on time from Canada. Does it have a good track record of being on time at the end of november?

The weather in Virginia is usually pretty good in November and IAD is not a congested airport.

forgot to say that both flights are Alitalia.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Flight from Minneapolis to Dublin via PHL

If I fly from Minneapolis to Dublin, with a one hour twenty minute layover in Philadelphia, will this be enough time to transfer without missing my second flight? Is it possible? Would it be very close - me running through the airport? I am a Spanish citizen - not sure how that would affect transfer time (if I need to pick up my bags or anything).

You don't have to do anything with your bags. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

I'm flying into LAX for a wedding next weekend, looks like I'll come into Terminal 1. Other family members are arriving about 30 minutes before me, in Terminals 4 and 5. We all need to meet up somewhere to head to our hotel. The other family members are somewhat limited in their mobility. Even though they're getting in earlier it would be best if the Terminal 4 and 5 people could meet up somewhere close to them, and then I can go to them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The lower level curbfront between Terminals 4 and 5 is probably the best place.

Returning from Madrid on an American Airlines flight at 1:10PM and then we have a 2:59pm flight on Jet Blue. I believe we will have to recheck baggage as they don't have any sort of agreement. Is this doable or should I pay the extra $150 to change to a later flight?

It's makeable, It's tough though. I obviously wouldn't have booked it in the first place, but seeing as you have, i would probably try to make it rather than paying to rebook.

Will I be able to recheck the bag without going through security? The bags likely wont be tagged all the way to our final destination. Will I be able to do this after customs?

No, you cannot. When you clear customs you will be outside security and Terminal 8 and Terminal 5 are not connected inside security anyway. You will have to take the bags to the JetBlue counter in Terminal 5 to re-check them.

Thanks for your help. I pushed back the flight. The $120 was worth the peace of mind of not missing the flight and not having to run around an unfamiliar airport. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

Hi, Im flying form London to JFK with AA on the 21th of November. We arrived in JFK at 1:40 pm. My connection flight is from JFK to San Juan, Puerto Rico. My AA flight is at 3.35 pm. Is this good on time? should i make it?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 8, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in Terminal 8.

I have a flight booked from Melbourne to Tom Bradley International Airport at LAX which arrives at 6.30am. There's a flight to Kingston, Jamaica at 8.40am from terminal 3 or 4 - would I be able to make it? The only other flights are at 11pm!

It's possible. I'm guessing you would be buying a separate ticket on American connecting in Miami? You will have to hurry with your bags to T4 and re-check them. You should have enough time, but it doesn't leave much time to spare.

Yeah separate tickets so would need to get baggage etc. So it's possible? That's great! Thanks so much for your help

Yeah, I would guess that you'd be out of customs by like 7:15. After you exit customs follow the signs for arriving passengers, not connecting passengers, then exit the International Terminal, then walk to your right (with the flow of traffic). The next building you come to will be AA's terminal, Terminal 4.
