I am flying from MEX to LAX on UA293 which lands at 11h50 on Oct 9th, then my next flight is UA198 on the same day from LAX to PVG which leaves at 13h05. Do I have enough time? Do I have to clear immigration or just intl to intl transfer?

  • Connecting Flights at DFW
    May 29, 2015

I am considering flying through DFW to MSP this summer on American, only because their flights are much less expensive than our usual carrier, Delta. However, most of the flights from BNA to MSP via DFW have very short connections. (45 minutes or so). If my flight leaves out of Nashville on time, will this be a problem? If I'm connecting between two American flights, will I have to get to another concourse, or do all American flights arrive and depart from the same concourse? Thanks in advance.

American and American Eagle use four different terminals at DFW. However, they are all connected inside security by the SkyLink train. A 45 minute connection is possible between any two gates at DFW, but it doesn't leave much room to spare if there are any delays.

I am landing at Terminal 1 and have 1 hour to get to Terminal 2. Is this feasible?

I'm flying from Atlanta to Charlotte to Germany. Will I check in at the Atlanta international terminal and go through customs?

You do not go through US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. You need to check in in the Domestic terminal in Atlanta - there is no US Airways counter in the International Terminal. You will go through Schengen immigration when you get to Germany. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I am due to arrive into Boston at 19.45 on 23/12/15 on Air Canada leaving at 9pm on Aer Lingus from terminal E on a single code share ticket sold to me by the airline. Is this sufficent time

Yes, that should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto and your bags should be checked through to Ireland. You just have to walk to Terminal E and go through security.

my flight will arrive from LAS into Terminal 7 at 10:34am and I need to connect to a flight to Narita (from Terminal 7) that is departing at 11:45am. Do you think I (non-US Citizen) have time to clear immigration and security check? Thanks!

You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the United States. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • 50 Min Connection Term C to E?
    May 29, 2015

So I'm connecting through IAH from Newark going to San Jose, Costa Rica. Untied recently changed my outbound flight by 20 min later making my connection from arrival to departure only 50 mins. Arriving terminal C departing terminal E - is this cutting it too close? Does it make a difference if it is international? If I tell the flight attendants can they help at all? Any info would be appreciated!

It's very doable if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from gate to gate. It doesn't matter much that the second flight is international, other than it means having to go to E. Most of the passengers on your flight will have connections and honestly even if you were able to get out first it would only save you a minute or two.

  • Dubai to Rome then onto Pisa with 1.45hr in between - Enough time?

We are flying from Australia to Dubai, Dubai to Rome on Emirates arriving in Rome at 1.115pm.we have a connecting flight to Pisa at 3.00pm with Alitalia. Is 1hr 45 min enough time to make our connecting flight? They are booked on separate bookings and we will have to collect checked luggage and a stroller for our daughter.

    *1.15pm*

That should be enough time but doesn't leave much time to spare. You will have to hurry to Terminal 1 to check your bags with Alitalia on-time.

We are flying to Barcelona to catch a cruise. We fly PNS to CLT to BCN. We have a 4-1/2 hour layover, so that is good. My question is whether we have to claim our baggage in CLT and then go back through international security to fly to BCN? I've never flown internationally before, so any information you can provide is very helpful.

No, you will not have to claim your bags in Charlotte. In the US there is no such thing as "International Security". All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! My traveling companion is in a wheelchair, so I just wanted to plan out our time in Charlotte and allow for going back through security, if necessary. You have been very helpful.

We are scheduled to fly in from Barcelona to FRA (Gate C72)landing at 21h00. We depart from Gate Z66 at 22h05. Our luggage ischeckedthrough BCN to JHB, but will we have enough time to clear security & emigration and still make it to Gate Z66?

That should be barely enough time, but it leaves very little to spare.

  • time between flights terminal 5 to terminal 4

We have an incoming flight on Jet Blue arriving at 8:00 am with a connecting flight on African Airlines at 11:15. Is that enough time to transfer flights & will we need to go through security again?

Yes, that should be enough time and yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 4. If you purchased your tickets separately, you will have to transfer your baggage between terminals.

I'll have a 42-min layover in SFO on my way to Vancouver from Dallas (all on United flights). Is this possible?? Will I go have to go through Canadian customs in SFO? I'm Canadian. Thanks!

All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Vancouver.

  • Transferring from American Airlines to Air Berlin

I'm flying in from Chicago on American and have a connecting flight on Air Berlin to Berlin-Tegel with an hour and 20 minute layover. Do I have to change terminals? If so, is that enough time?

Were your tickets purchased together or separately? If together I think you should have enough time. You will arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal B. The different "Terminals" at DUS are really just wings of the same building, so it's a pretty easy connection. Just follow the signs to your departure gate. You will go through Schengen passport control on your route.
