    I will arrive JFK New York Kennedy Airport terminal 4 at 1055hrs via SQ and need to depart from terminal 2 at 1435hrs to baltimore international airport via Delta. How to travel from T4 to T2? Any security check in between? Is the time sufficient? Do I need to re-check in my baggage? Thank you.

    After going through customs you should be able to re-check your baggage with Delta, then take the Airtrain to T2 and go through security (you may have to pick up your boarding pass from Delta first). You should have plenty of time.

    Travelling from EDI to Nice on KLM with handluggage only with a 40 minute connection. Will I have to go through immigration on the outward journey, but not on the way back? From memory KLM from Edinburgh arrives at Concourse A and departures to Nice are from C? Is 40 minutes enough and are there 'fast-tracks' through immigration if required. Any assistance will be appreciated

    If UK is one of the Schengen countries, you need not go through passport control. Schiphol has no Concourse A. Gate-to-gate transfers: B & C gates are at the very right end of the bow-shaped terminal; north of it are the C gates arranged in a Y-shape; around the bend are the E gates, followed in the center by the F gates; right thereafter is entry to the G, H & M gates (G gates are to the right, H & M gates to the left). Walking time from the entry of B or C gates all the way over to the entry of G, H or M gates would take about 15 mins. Walking to the end of B gates takes 15 mins; for the C gates 7 mins; for the D gates 8 mins; for the E gates 1 min; for the F gates in the Center 2 mins; for the G gates 5 mins; and for the H & M gates 7 mins.

    The U.K. is not a schengen country. You'll go through passport Control in AMS when transfering from the non-schengen to Schengen parts of the airport. You should have enough time. AMS handles tight connections all the time.

    Hi, I'm flying to Iceland and have a layover in Boston. My United flight has a changed schedule and arrives at 12:54pm at terminal A and my Icelandair flight departs at 2:35pm from terminal E. Can I make this connection?

    I would ask United to change to an earlier flight. Since they did the schedule change they are required to do this free of charge.

    We arrive on BA 297 on a Wednesday, and as another poster mentioned it is always late. So assuming, a 6:30pm arrival can we make an 8:05 AA FLIGHT out of terminal 3? We are US citizens if that matters in clearing customs. There ate no later flights that day so I guess we will be stuck, if we can't make it.

    It's possible. Immigration has been pretty bad lately but there aren't many other flights getting in that late so it shouldn't be too bad. You'll still have to hurry to re-check and the ATS and through security in T3.

  • Transfer to DTW

    This will be our first time traveling to the US and I'm worried that we won't make our connection, because we have to go through customs in Detroit. We will be coming via Amsterdam with Delta and landing in DTW at 1.05pm. Our connection to Denver is at 3.42pm. I can use any help I can get as far as information about what terminal would we land coming from Amsterdam? How do we get to customs? I'm traveling with a child, who is a citizen and I will be entering on a tourist visa. Can we go through customs together or are there two different lines we need to be in? How do we re-check our luggage?What terminal would our connection to Denver leave from ( also with Delta) and how do we get to the next gate?

    We went through Detroit last year, took about 1 hour to clear immigration, collect and recheck our bags and get to the gate for our onward flight. Since then tho' I gather it's taking longer as staff cuts bite. I think your timings are good, you shouldn't have a problem. The staff at immigration were very pleasant and will be able to advice which lines to join. Once you've got your bags, go through customs and there's a place to hand your bags back in, it works very well! If you've bought any duty free, you can put it into your hold baggage before handing it over. At Amsterdam they won't let you take any liquids through security, even purchased airside, not even abottle of water bought at the kiosk next to the gate!

    Both flights will be in the McNamara terminal. If you're with a child I'm sure they will let you go through together. The path to immigration when you arrive will be obvious - it will be the only way to go. There will be a re-check counter just as you exit customs. To get to your next gate you just go upstairs after re-checking your bags, go back through security, and look on the monitors for the gate for your flight to Denver and follow the signs to it. DTW has a very simple layout.

  • Intl conx time at ATL F to domestic

    I am returning from Jamaica to Houston with a connection at Atlanta where we will clear US Customs. We only have an hour and 15 minutes due to a schedule change. Is this enough time to get through and make a connection? All on Delta. But there is a much later connection but 4 hour conx if we change to this.

    Honestly, it's probably not enough time. I'd request the later flight (which you can get changed to for free due to the schedule change). However, if you stick with your original connection, you can try to make it, then get put on that later flight if you miss it. The risk being if the later flight is full you'll get stuck in Atlanta.

    Yes, you can take the TerminaLink or walk and stay within security. You have a ton of time. Just follow the signs to your next gate.

    On arrival at AMS you need to go through non-Schengen passport control; poceed to the baggage belts in the baggage hall (ground level), claim bags & go through Customs & re-check-in bags where indicated. Then proceed to your connecting gate. 50 minutes is extremely tight, but doable if you familiarize yourself with AMS layout & transfer.     We are departing for Barcelona. Our flight arrives at 4:29 from Greensboro and the flight to Barcelona departs at 6:25. My wife has limited mobility. Can we make he transfer from Terminal F to Terminal A? Do we have to go back through security?

    No you do not have to go through security on the US Airways shuttle. You should request wheelchair service from US Airways.

  • no monorail, why?

    The existing airport terminal shuttle buses are too slow, because they get stuck in traffic. Why is there no monorail or dedicated train to get travelers to connecting flights? I have been through this airport multiple times. The buses cannot get me to the connecting flight on time, so I need to sprint from terminal to terminal, especially when the computer systems at Customer Border Control are down and Customs holds passengers in the hallways and refuse to process them for 1+ hours.

    Because such a system would cost Hundreds of Millions of dollars and LAWA doesn't have that kind of money to spend.

    Newest developments regarding LAX terminal transfers: The Los Angeles City Council has given a green light to a planned massive reconstruction of LAX, involving relocation of a runway, adding a light-rail station linked to the city's public transit system and to the terminals by an elevated people mover, as well as the eventual demolition of Terminals 1, 2 & 3. No time frame has yet been announced.

    Like many people on here, I'm nervous about connecting terminals. How often does the ATS tram run? I'm flying BA (AA flight into Chicago), and I have 2 hours and 5 min to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5. I don't think I'll have to re-check my bag as AA and BA are partnered airlines, but I'm nervous about making the connection (especially since people have been saying BA usually runs late...?). I'll be departing/arriving this coming Wednesday if that helps. Any previous experience or advice would be much appreciated!

    An ATS train comes about every 5 minutes and it will take about 2-3 minutes to get from T3 to T5.

  • Meeting Up for International Flight

    A friend and I plan to meet at O'Hare for a flight to Paris. We are both flying on American--she is coming on 4176 from Little Rock and I am on 898 from St. Louis. Our arrival times are just 5 min. apart. I was told we can't check our luggage all the way through to Paris. We'd like to meet up near baggage claim and then go down to Terminal 5 together. Any suggestions to help us?

    Yes, you could meet at the baggage claim or maybe at the Terminal 3 ATS station. What airline are you flying to Paris? Did you buy two separate tickets?

    flying into terminal B with 1 hr time to get to Terminal E. How tight is this going to be? especially as I will most likely be in the back of the first plane and one of the last to get off. I'm guess I should stay in the secure area and take the inside tram to save on time.

  • Time from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1

    We are arriving at JFK on Delta flight at terminal 3 at 2:51. Making a connecting Delta flight (via Alitalia) to FCO leaving from terminal 1 at 5:25 . Will we have enough time? What is quickest way to get to terminal 1? Will we have to go through security again? All flights made on one reservation. Thanks!

    You will have to take the AirTrain and go through security again, but if your first flight is on-time you'll have enough time.

    Could not find your arriving flight (open http://www.fly2houston.com/0/3807990/0/0/ ) Note that ExpressJet operates some of Delta Connection & United Express flights. Flight 4173 is United departing from Terminal B, gate 84E. Since I don't know which Airline you use to arrive at IAH, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iah, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text for transfer options.
