In Jan 2015 I am flying SJU-JFK on Delta arriving at 3:58pm and connecting to British Airways to LHR, departing 7:20pm. I bought the whole ticket through Orbitz. Will I have to take out the luggage and recheck the bags at British Airways or will Delta check them through? And the BA boarding pass? What do I have to? Is this enough time?Thank you in advance

  • Airtrain Connection

Hi there. I have a flight from YYZ -> JFK -> NRT on 15 Dec. The flight arrives at JFK Terminal 7 and connects with a flight in Terminal 1. If using the airtrain to get from 1-7 will it be within security or outside of it. If it is outside of security will checked bags still be transferred to the connecting flight? Lastly, is two hours enough time to make the connection. Thank you.

The Airtrain runs outside security. However, if bags are checked through to NRT they will still be transferred for you. Yes, 2 hours should be enough time.

  • ZRH - JFK - TPA

Hi ZAP Today our plane departure in ZRH got changed so that we have less connecting time at JFK. It's only 1 h 57 min. We're flying with Delta. Is that enough time for immigration, customs, security and a terminal change? It's on Good Friday 2015. And I saw that some flights to Tampa are leaving from terminal 4....? Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, that should be enough time. Yes, more Delta flights are now using T4 and fewer are using T2.

  • International flight with a connecting flight at EWR

Hi! I'll be flying from Stockholm to Newark for a connecting flight to Nashville on Sunday. My flight will arrive at terminal B 12.10 pm, and I hear Sunday afternoons are amongst the busiest times to travel. My connecting flight leaves from terminal C at 3.20 pm, but in between, I've got to go through passport control, pick up my back, go through US customs check and check my bag again, get to my next terminal and go through security at the next terminal and find my gate. I've travelled to the States three times before and it's gone well, however this is the first time with a layover in NY. Is it going to be enough time with 3 hours and 10 minutes? I've previously had a delayed flight and had to stay overnight in Toronto to wait for a new scheduled flight the next morning, and gosh do I want to avoid that situation again.

    Pick up my bag*

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

  • Los Angeles - LAs Vegas connections at terminal/query

hi, will arrive in Los angeles on Emirates at about 1pm and then have a domestic Virgin connection to Las Vegas at about 5pm. is 4 hours enough? is the domestic and international terminal same and whats the best way as I will have to do immigration customes etc. at LA?? do I have to collect my check in luggage and rebook at Virgin counter? Pls let me know. thanks

You will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then if you purchased your tickets together and your bags are tagged to LAS, you will re-check your bags at the transfer desk, otherwise, you will exit the International Terminal, walk to the left to Terminal 3, where you will get your Virgin America boarding pass, re-check your bags if they weren't already re-checked, and go through security and to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

What would I need to do in Denver taking a United flight from SAF Municipal Airport to DEN to PVR? Would I collect luggage outside security and recheck it? Is 2:30 plenty of time?

On your way to PVR all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the B Concourse, 2 hrs 30 mins is plenty of time.

  • MEX TO TXL trough MIA

I am arriving Miami in AA1498 flight from Mexico City at 12 pm. and the connection is with AirBerlin 7211 to TXL at 04:05 pm. I think is enough time but I don't know if I need to pick up my luggage from AA and then again check it with AirBerlin. It is a reward ticket I got at once with AA. How is the way from American Airlines Arrivals to AirBerlin departures??? Thanks in advance.

Since you are on an International to International itinerary on American you shouldn't have to claim your bags in MIA, but check with the AA agent in Mexico City. AA and Air Berlin use the same terminal.

Flying from London Ontario Canada to Orlando Feb,1st 2015 arriving at Newark @7.29 AM terminal "A" with a connecting flight to Orlando @ 10.AM terminal "C". This will be my first time in the Newark airport, can anyone tell me what the procedure would be after arriving at terminal "A".

Since London, Ontario does not have US Immigration preclearance, your flight from YXU will arrive in Terminal C. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

Me and my girlfriend are lying from Oslo and landing in Newark terminal B and we have 1h32min to get to terminal C and we know that we need to pick up our luggage and leave it to the next place. Is it possible for that short time? We were told we will need to run all the time :)

Yes, that's about right, it's possible but it depends on your first flight being on-time and being as quick as possible.

Arriving on China Airlines at 12:45 pm Terminal B and departing on SW at 2:25 pm. Only doing carry on luggage. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Check in for your Southwest flight online before you leave Asia.

  • Will my baggage be put on to my connecting flight for me?
    Nov 23, 2014

Next year I will be travelling alone to from London Heathrow UK to Bogota, Colombia via JFK New York. I am wondering whether my checked baggage will automatically be put on to my connecting flight to Bogota at JFK, or will I have to go through baggage reclaim and check it in again myself? I am keen to find out for definite before I go as this will be my first experience of a connecting flight! Many thanks!

If buying your 2 flights on one ticket, your bags will automatically be transferred to your connecting flight after you went through passport check, picked up your bags & went through customs clearance, then re-checked in your bags at JFK. Otherwise find out from your first airline if they will transfer to your second flight. (if not you would need to take your bags to the connecting terminal to check it in there). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/jfk, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text, for all the information you will need about JFK; if interested in Bogota Airport, open www.ifly.com/bog.

You will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, whether you buy two separate tickets or buy one reservation.

  • ORD connection T5-T1

Hi, I am planning to make a trip to San Francisco, but this is my first trip with a flight connection. I am flying with United from Brussels to Chicago (ORD) and then from Chicago (ORD) to San Francisco (SFO). I only have approximately 2 hours to get to my next flight. What is the procedure for a connecting flight in Chicago? Do I have to claim my baggage and then recheck-in? I also read that I'll arrive a terminal 5 and I'll depart at terminal 1. Thank you for reading this!

At ORD you arrive at Terminal 5 (T5) where you need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs & re-check-in bags where indicated (bags will then be transferred to T1 flight) - thereafter, proceed one level up to the ATS transit level & take the ATS train, running every few mins, to T1, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. T1 has Concourses B & C (with B & C gates) - both used by United.

i will have an american airlines flight coming in from orlando and have to change to an american airlines flight heading for london heathrow, time for changing is only 65 minutes. is that doable? best regards woledi

American uses Terminal 3 (T3) with Concourses/ gates G, H, K & L; as well as and T5 with Concourse/gates M (tickets could read T3-G, T5-M). While the ATS train runs between all terminal at their pre-security areas (requiring security check at connecting terminal), you may walk between the concourses of Terminal 3. Either way you have enough time for transfer.

Ignore sunov. Both of your flights will be in Terminal 3. You only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you have enough time.

  • United - Alaska Airlines connections

I will be arriving LAX on UA 1653 from Cancun at 1125 a Sunday, 2/22, to connect with Alaska Airlines 2474 to Santa Rosa, CA, departing 1225 p. Is that enough time to make the connection? Must I go through passport control/customs/ security?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 7, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs. If you purchased your tickets on one reservation you can re-check your bags at the transfer desk, otherwise you will have to take them to the Alaska Airlines counter in T6 to re-check them. Some United International arrivals at LAX are arriving in the International Terminal. The procedure is the same but you just have to go further to T6.
