Hello! We will arrive at CLT on May 29th from Mexico City at 18:20 h and then we have another flight (both with US Airways) at 20:55 h (2 h 35 minutes layover) to Madrid (Spain). We are two people, from Mexico and Spain. Wil we have enough time to catch the 2nd flight? What are the stages that we will have (us inmigration, customs, baggage claim etc)? Thanks!!!

  • 2 hr Connection time enough for int'l flight

I am flying from Orlando to Dhaka (Bangladesh) on 16 July 2015. Scheduled flight with Jetblu from MCO to JFK (T5) will suppose to arrive on 21:00 and connected flight to Dubai with Emirates scheduled to fly on 23:00 from JFK (T4). I bought the ticket from american express website as a single trip (from MCO to DAC). Do I have enough time to caught the flight? Do I need to collect baggage at JFK and transfer transit counter? or I have to check in my bag at MCO and collect from DAC?

Your baggage should be checked through to Dhaka in Orlando. All you have to do in JFK is take the AirTrain from T5 to T4 and go through security.

Will 2 hr enough for this procedure? Or will this be tight for changing terminal and go through security?

  • Ryanair connecting to TS or AZ

What is the minimum connecting time arriving into FCO on a domestic flight from Catania and connecting to an international flight to YYZ. Two separate tickets with checked baggage. Thank you !

Sorry, forgot to mention Ryanair to FCO and TS or AZ to YYZ

Bare minimum time I would recommend is 2 hours.

Thanks ! I was thinking 3 hours would be breathable, and would ensure there is a second flight possibility inbetween, in case the first flight was delayed or canceled.

I am flying into Denver on United into concourse B and leaving on flight operated by Alaska airlines in Concourse A. I have 50 minutes to do so. Will this work.

It's possible as long as you don't have checked baggage and check in for your Alaska Airlines flight online before you leave on your United flight.

Is a 2 hour connection time enough? What security will I have to go through?

You will arrive, go through US Immigration and Customs and security. You should not have to collect your bags since you are on an international to international connection. If you are a Trinidad or Peru citizen you will need a US Transit Visa.

Hi. On a Tuesday in mid-June I have a flight arriving from PDX (Portland) at 4:28 p.m. Then I'm going to a flight to CDG (Paris), leaving at 6:05 p.m. I know I'll need to go through international customs at O'Hare – will this time be sufficient? Both flights are booked on United. (The last time I made a similar connection, it was close – the customs area was packed.)

You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1. You should have plenty of time.

I'm sorry, "customs" was the wrong word. I know US citizens don't do that before leaving the US. I meant the security line that you need to go through before getting into the international terminal at O'Hare. Last year, when I flew from PDX to ORD to Stockholm, the security line at O'Hare took more than 90 minutes and was very chaotic. (This was after I'd already gone through security screening at PDX.) I just don't know if that particular day was unusual, or if it's always like that.

Of course, if it's the case that my domestic arrival and international departure (both on United) are in the same terminal, then it should be fine! Last year I arrived at ORD on a domestic flight and left on Scandinavian Airlines. They were code-sharing partners, but maybe that accounted for the terminal change I had to do. I had 2.5 hours between my flights and just barely made it.

That security line would be unusual. Also, yes, any nonstop flight from Chicago to Paris bought from United will be operated by United and leave from Terminal 1, the same terminal where you will arrive.

  • 2hrs layover intl to domestic

Hello. I will be arriving at DTW on an international flight (from LHR) at 1315hrs. My connecting domestic flight departs at 1526 for MLI. Should that be enough time? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hello Me and my wife will leave CPH at 11.50 in a KLM 737-800. In Schiphol we have 1.15 to make it to a Delta 767-400 that will take us to Seattle. We're flying Business which will save us time getting off the plane early. What kind of security checks do we have and how long of a walk between the flights? Thanks

All you have to do is go through Schengen exit passport control and walk to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • Connection time, desperate tickets

Hi I am going to take Air China from Beijing to IAD, and I will arrive IAD around 14:35. Then I need to pass the customs because I hold a foreign country passport and pick up my baggages. Then I need to transfer by United Airline from IAD to CVG, the departure time is 17:19. So the time I have between transfer is 2hr 44min. So are Air China and United Airline in same terminal? If they are, which terminal it is? And do I have enough time to be able to transfer?

IAD only has one Terminal. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags in the International Arrivals Building, which is an annex of the main Terminal, Then you will go through security and take the AeroTrain or mobile lounge to your departure concourse, A, C, or D. You have enough time.

hi, im flying London-Fairbanks. changing at kef and Seattle. My Seattle change over is 2hours 15minutes where im then getting a Alaska airline flight to Fairbanks. im wanting to know if this is enough time for my connecting flight?what will I have to do when I get to seattle?ive been told I may need get my boarding pass for the last part of the flight at the airport(seattle to Fairbanks) is there a desk when I get off my flight from Iceland? thanks

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? Will you have checked bags? You can get your Alaska Airlines boarding pass online before you leave London.

Yeah all in one ticket.yes will have a checked bag.what will I have to do when get to Seattle?i have 2 hours 15mins,is this enough time?

After arriving in Seattle's S Satellite you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bag at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the underground train to your departure concourse. Alaska Airlines uses concourses C, D, and N.

Thank you! Does this all happen in a connecting flight area within the airport-you don't need go out the airport to go back in?how long does the train take?have I enough time-the airline says I do but am a bit worried Thanks

If I have purchased all flights on one itinerary will the checked bag go from London to Fairbanks-and just recheck it in Seattle?

Yes, it will be tagged to Fairbanks in London, in Seattle you will just have to claim it in order to go through US Customs, then re-check it right after. All of this stuff happens in the basement of the S Satellite. You will not have to go to the main terminal building. Getting from the S Satellite to your Alaska Airlines gate will probably take somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes.

  • Booked 2 legs with checked luggage

I booked a flight from MCI to LAX on Southwest with 2 hours and 10 mins between my next flight LIH on Hawaiian Airlines. I'll need to go pick up my checked in luggage and check it back in to the other flight. How long will (could) this take me?

Assuming your flight from MCI is on-time, your bags should come out within 30 minutes. It will take you about 5 minutes to Walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. So assuming the first flight is on-time that still puts you at the Hawaiian check-in counter 1 hr 35 minutes before your flight, plenty of time.

Hi, I'm flying Buffalo-Vienna with a connection in Newark. I have a 1hr 40min layover but have to change terminals from C to B. Both flights are bought on the same reservation. Will I have to pick up and recheck my luggage? Do you think that is enough time? Thank you!

Also forgot to mention that the first flight is with UA and the second with Austrian Airlines.

You will not have to pick up your luggage. You just have to take the AirTrain from Terminal C to Terminal B and go through security.

  • AA flight connection
    May 25, 2015
I have a 40 minute connection this summer for a domestic flight (SNA to BUF) on AA. Will that be enough time even if my flight out runs a few minutes late?

That would be barely enough time assuming the first flight is on-time.

  • 2 hours 10 min time to catch flight
    May 25, 2015
I will be travelling from Istanbul to New York. My flight should land at 4:50 PM at Terminal 1, and I should catch a New York to Denver flight at 7:00 PM in Terminal 2. Do I have enough time to make it? I am not an US citizen so that means I will have to go through customs and immigration, and if JFK is full.... It will be Thursday afternoon when I land, if that makes a difference... I am using two different companies, the first being Turkish Airlines and the second Delta Airlines.... What should I do in case I miss my flight? From what I could see, the Turkish planes landed on average around 5:15 PM the last couple of days...

That leaves you enough time. if you purchased your tickets separately you will have to take your bags with you to your departure terminal. Note that Delta domestic flights can leave from Terminal 2 or 4. Check Delta.com on the day of your flight. If you miss your flight you will be stuck in New York overnight.

Thank you very much! Delta should put me on the next flight at no expense, if the fault is not mine, right? Or I should be paying penalties for the missed flight?

If you purchased your tickets on the same itinerary they will put you on the next available flight. If you purchased two separate tickets they will likely be less accommodating.

We arrive in EWR at 12.15pm flying with UA. Our connecting flight to MCO also with UA is at 2.30pm. I understand that we will have to collect and recheck bags, but could anyone tell me which terminal we will be flying into/out of and let me know if this is enough time. Thanks

Where are you flying from? Can't help you much without that info.
