I am flying back into the country from France. I have a 2 hour and 45 min layover in Chicago. Is this enough time to get through customs and make my flight to Seattle?

My flight arrives at terminal B 9:18am and departs from terminal E at 10am - is this enough time??

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. The TerminaLink Train connects all Terminals inside security. Also, your flight from DCA will arrive in Terminal C, not Terminal B. Terminal C is directly connected to Terminal E.

    Great, thank you!

we will be arriving on Delta south term. at 4:50 and departing from Maynard Jackson Int. term at 5:30. considering that gates usually close 20 early is doable?

You will not actually arrive at the south terminal. Delta domestic flights arrive at one of the several midfield concourses. They are all connected to each other, and to the International Concourses, by the plane train, which runs underground inside security. Gates do not usually close 20 minutes early. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time but you don't have much time to spare in case of delays.

We are flying to Maui from LAX on Dec 23rd on Delta Terminal 5 departing at 8:15 am. We arrive on Southwest at 7:00 am on Southwest Terminal 1. Do we have enough time to make it we have no checked luggage?

It may be possible if your Southwest flight is early and you run really fast, but it will be really difficult as you will have to go through security again in Terminal 5. I recommend that you change your Southwest flight to one the night before and get a hotel.

  • Delta Connection Layover 58 minutes

My flight arrives at 7:41 and all it says is Domestic South Terminal ... but my connecting flight, also Delta, departs at 8:39 from Gate E34. By looking at the map, that appears to be at the complete opposite end of the airport. Assuming I deboard quickly, and don't have to go through any checks or customs (domestic flight), is that going to be do-able?

Actually, it looks like the plane comes in from an international flight at Gate E34, but it departs on my domestic flight from Domestic South. So I might be okay! Is it normal for flights to land at one gate, drop passengers, then move to another gate for a different departure?

No flights actually "come into" the domestic terminal South. All flights use the various midfield concourses. If your first flight is domestic, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All concourses are connected to each other by the plane train. You don't actually have to go to the Domestic terminal.

Calgary flight to Fort Myers connects in Houston. Only 45 min between flights. Is that enough time to get from Terminal A to C?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary. The TerminaLink train connects all Terminals inside security.

  • ENOUGH TIME FOR CONNECTION?
    Sep 18, 2014

I travel from YUL on united 5092 and connect to united 976 on Nov 17 and has a 70 min connection so i if the gate close 30 min before take off i have 40 min will it be long enough time for the connection

    the connection is to dubai

The gate does not close 30 mins before departure, that's just to scare you into not taking your time. 70 minutes should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal so all you have to do in IAD is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may arrive on concourse A. You will depart from Concourse C or D. A is connected to C/D by the Aerotrain and mobile lounge inside security.

I AM ARRIVING FROM CANCUN MÉXICO TO DALLAS AT 5.15 PM WITH SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES, AND I HAVE A CONNECTING FLIGHT TO MINNEAPOLIS AT 6:45, BUT I HAVE TO GO THRU IMMIGRATION..IS IT ENOUGH TIME? CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO GET TO IMMIGRATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, MY TICKET DOES NOT SAY AT WICH TERMINAL IM ARRIVING, AND FROM WHICH ONE IM LEAVING

Both of your flights will be in Terminal D. It will be very easy to find immigration as you will be forced to go there. You should have plenty of time. Also the same aircraft will by flying your Cancun-DFW and DFW-MSP flights, so if it is late arriving it will be late departing as well.

San Antonio to Houston - 35 minute connection for a Houston - NY (LGA) flight - is that possible?

Yes, it is possible if the first flight is on-time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Connection time through Houston 1 Hr 2 Min. Do "In Transit" passengers have to clear Customs and Immigration at IAH or is this done in Toronto? Do I have to go through Security at Houston? (Shoes, belts off etc.) Is 1 Hr 2 Min enough time? Traveling on United. Which Terminals will be involved? Thanks.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will arrive in Terminal B or C and depart from Terminal B or E. All Terminals are connected inside security by the TerminaLink train. 1 hr 2 minutes should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

    Thanks ZAP

  • SYD-SFO-NEWARK Concerned!

Hi, we are flying to Newark from Sydney with a 1.45min layover at SFO and I'm unsure of the process. Do we need to go through customs, claim our baggage and then recheck again on the flight to Newark? Both flights are with United Airlines and I'm concerned that 1.45min may not be enough time if we need to claim and recheck our baggage... thanks in advance

In SFO you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags at the re-check desk with United. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. 1:45 is enough time if your first flight is on-time and if you are delayed United has many flights from SFO to Newark.

    Thank you :)

  • United Express (8) to US Airways Express (4) in 1 hr?

We are arriving at LAX on United Express to terminal 8 (i think) at 1:05pm and need to be on US Airways Express out of terminal 4 (I think) at 2:05. Is 1 hr enough time if we only have carry-ons?

It's maybe possible but it's really risky - you'll have to wait for your gate-checked bags, then it's about a 15 minute walk to T4 then you have to go through security, then you have to take the shuttle to the remote "Eagle" terminal.

Eek! Gate checked bags? Does the United Express not allow carry-ons?!

Most of the aircraft United Express flies into LAX do not have large enough overhead bins for most roll-aboards. Unless your bag fits under the seat in front of you, you often have to gate-check on those flights.
