  • CAN I MAKE MY FLIGHT?
    Feb 24, 2015
    1
I have a Delta Flight from boston arriving in Atlanta at 9:31pm , with a connecting Delta INTERNATIONAL flight to Brazil at 10:25pm!! I have two small children(2 & 4) but we can/do move swiftly. can we make this flight? will our luggage, I am concerned because I am checking car seats. I think gate checking them may make it more difficult to make connection(dragging them, kids etc). Will I need to clear security again? Thanks for any insights & assistance!

No, you will not have to clear security. All you have to do is take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse (E or F) and board the plane. If your first flight is on-time you should have enough time.

  • Toronto to Bridgetown Via Miami

Hi, we have an upcoming flight from Toronto to Bridgetown via Miami. All flights on the same ticket and purchased at the same time. On arrival in Miami from Toronto will we need to collect our checked bag then recheck it with the transfer desk? On the return from Bridgetown I assume we will need to clear US customs on arrival in Miami? I also assume we will need to collect our bags and recheck them with the transfer desk? Thanks in Advance.

On your way from Toronto you will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto and only need to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Miami. On your return you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Miami, but you should not have to claim your bags since you are on an International to International connection, but confirm that with the AA agents in Bridgetown and Miami.

Hi, thanks for the information. Flight was booked through British Airways but we have a full American Airlines itinerary. We will confirm for the return journey.

  • 1 hr 40 min layover

My husband is on his way from Madrid and has a connecting flight in MIA. His flight was delayed by almost 2 hours so he will not arrive until around 4pm-415. He has a 620 flight to Key West. do you think he will make his connection

There's a good chance he can still make it. If he does miss it there is a 9:25 PM flight to Key West.

  • Want to use AA lounge in Terminal 8

I am arriving in Terminal 4 by Delta at 8:35 AM on a domestic flight and then departing from Terminal 4 itself on an international flight at 2:25 PM. Want to go to terminal 8 to use the only AA lounges in JFK. Would I be allowed to go to Terminal 8 for that? And do I need to clear the arrivals immigration when getting out to go back from Terminal 8 to Terminal 4? Thank you, KG

You will not have to go through Immigration in JFK, but you will have to go through security when you enter T8 and when you re-enter T4. They are also not obligated to allow you to enter T8.

Thank you ZAP for your quick input.

We are leaving JFK and arriving at LAX at 3:55pm. Our next flight is LAX to KOA (Kona) at 5pm. We have carryon luggage. Will we make our connecting flight? The tickets were purchased seperately from each other.

    Both flights are American Air

Yes, you should have plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 4.

  • Flying from LHR - PHX via DTW (Virgin/Delta)
    Feb 24, 2015

Hi, I am flying from LHR to PHX via DTW and have a 2.15hr stopover connection - does anyone know, is this enough time to get through Non-US Immigration, pick up luggage, go through Customs, re-check luggage, go to departures, go through security and then get to the next plane? I am female and travelling alone so don't want to miss my connection

Yes, that should be enough time.

    Thanks for letting me know

  • Cozumel to Denver

We are looking at a flight on AA from Cozumel on May 30th that arrives in DFW at 3:37 pm with a connecting flight to Denver leaving at 5:05pm. Is that possible or should we book the later flight that doesn't leave for Denver until 8:25 pm?

Below 90 minutes might be possible, but reports lately are that DFW immigration has gotten pretty crowded and you will be arriving at a crowded part of the day. I would probably book the later flight even though it means a long layover in Denver.

  • Enough time and distance to smoke and let dog out to potty

I will be coming from overseas and have a 2hr and 4min layover before my connecting flight in US. I know I need to get through immigration and customs, however, I will have my little dog with me in cabin and am wondering if I will have enough time to get her out to go potty and back to my gate.

No, the dog relief areas are located outside the domestic terminal, so you probably won't have time to do that.

hi, i will landed in AMS from DXB with Emirates and depart from AMS to MAD with Iberia. Will i go through immigration control in AMS? thank you!

Yes, you will go through Schengen passport control in AMS since you will be flying a within-Schengen flight.

hi ZAP thanks for your reply! what if i'm flying with KLM to AMS and then Iberia to South America (but with layover in MAD)? Since as i'm aware that KLM and Iberia are in the same concourse in AMS - by this i'm hoping to not go through passport control.

Flying any Schengen to Schengen route you will need to go through Schengen passport control. If you do not want to go through Schengen passport control you will have to find a route to Bogota that does not involve a within-Schengen flight. I'm assuming you already hold a DXB-AMS ticket on Emirates and this is why you are asking. Your only options are to fly somewhere else in Schengen, connect in the US (in which case I'm guessing you would need a US Transit Visa), or connect way out of your way, like in Sao Paulo, Lima, or Quito. KLM flies AMS-Panama City (PTY) nonstop. See if that works. Panama has a very liberal transfer policy for foreign nationals.

Also, KLM begins nonstop Amsterdam-Bogota service on March 31.

You may want to also look into connecting in Aruba, Curacao, or Havana.

So are you saying if i landed with Emirates in AMS and go to PTY with KLM, i dont need to go thru customs?

    Correct.

Oh yeah, the other requirement is that you either need to have no checked baggage or will need to have your baggage checked through to PTY in DXB.

  • Arriving JetBlue flight 597 connecting to Alaska #2482 to Bellingham

I arrive by JetBlue at 12:07p and need to connect with Alaska #2482 @ 1:55p. Is that enough time to get to baggage claim and then to Alaska desk?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Delta-Alaska Air connection

We have a 50 minute connection from Delta (MSP-SEA) to Alaska Air (SEA-SIT)in June. I received a notice that it may not be enough time. Is it?

That should be enough time if both tickets were purchased together. You will just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, using the underground train.

Thanks! We actually purchased the tickets through Orbitz - who put us on a later flight, but we are still showing a reservation on both the earlier and later flight on Delta.com. Guess I should call Delta to be sure.

  • DomesticUS flight to International (Spain)

I have a flight in early April, arrive on Delta at 7:30, leave on Iberia at 9:30. Is that a reasonable connection time?

Without checked bags, it should be pretty easy as long as your first flight isn't heavily delayed. With checked bags, since you will have to transfer them between Terminals yourself, it may be difficult. With checked bags I would want more time.

  • Connecting flights

We will be arriving in Atlanta at 9:02 am on March 4 with a 9:30 am connecting flight to San Juan. Is the gate where we board to San Juan close so we don't miss our connecting flight

    What airlines are you flying?

Delta 1069- to Atlanta 559 to SanJuan

It will be difficult. Delta uses close to 100 different gates at ATL. They're all connected inside security, but they can be far apart. If your first flight is on-time you might barely have enough time.

I was afraid of that is there any way I could find out for sure?

You won't know your exact gates until the day of your flight. They could be in Concourse T, A, B, or C. However, also note that Delta has 3 more flights to San Juan that day that you can be rebooked on if you miss your connection, including one under two hours later at 11:25. Also note that DL 559 leaves at 9:40, not 9:30.

    Thank you

Hi, I have a Delta ATL-FCO flight that lands at 9:50am, with a connection on Alitalia FCO-MLA at 10:50am. It is part of one ticket, but will I be able to make the connection? Do I need to go through security and customs?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will go through Schengen passport control and security on your way to Terminal 1.

  • Is a 50 minute layover enough for CMH-DFW-Doha
    Feb 24, 2015
    2
Due to a change of schedule by AA as well as Qatar Airways, our itinerary has a stopover of only 50 minutes at DFW. Arrival 5:50pm by AA (terminal A?) from CMH and departure at 6:40 pm by Qatar Airwways (Terminal D). Doea this give us enough time to catch the Qatar Airways flight assuming the first flight is on time? Tahnks for your advice..

That is still enough time but it depends on your columbus flight being on-time. the SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Thanks. I made the reservations on one travel.com. I called Qatar Airways and was told that we were allowed to change the first leg to an earlier flight, but one travel.com refuses to do it. They gladly offered to cancel my reservations with a hefty penalty, even though I tried to explain to them that the airline issuing the ticket does not have any problem.
