Can anyone tell me how long do i need to travel from Terminal 3 to terminal 5. I have 3 hours and 30 min layover time. With AA from RDU to ORD terminal 3, then my next connecting flight is Qatar Airway at terminal 5. Do I need to clear security and collect luggage at Terminal 3 before I travel to terminal 5 and re-check-in again my luggage?

If you purchased your tickets together you will not have to claim your baggage. However, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 5 after taking the ATS Train there.

Arriving on BA from LHR into T7, departing on AA to BOS from T8. I assume I will collect my luggage, clear customs and drop the bags at the transfer counter. Out into fresh air, onto the train and off again at T8. back through security and off to my gate. I have about 2:30 for the connection. Am I correct? Any possible issues? Thanks...

oh, forgot to mention, this is a single through-ticket (I actually start the trip in Nice). I'd assume that the bags will be labelled right through to BOS.

You have the process correct. Yes, the bags will be tagged to BOS but you'll still have to claim and re-check them in JFK. 2:30 should be plenty of time.

Thanks. One other thing... I'm a OneWorld Sapphire member. Are there any express lanes for customs, security etc?

That may get you priority security in T8. If so it will be printed on your boarding pass.

I am flying from Narita, Tokyo airport to Lima, Peru via Houston. May I know the minimum layover do I need? Was informed custom and security might take up to an hour.

    You need 90 minutes minimum.

I arrive on a Delta flight at 7:00pm from ATL. Can I catch a Virgin America flight that leaves at 8:10pm? No checked baggage. One carry on. I see that the terminals are opposing, so I have to go thru security again. How long is the walk and is it outdoors?

Yes, the walk is outdoors. It's barely possible if your first flight is on-time. You check in online for your Virgin America flight, and you run.

Thx so much, this sounds too tight. I could switch my connecting flt on Virgin Amer. to United departing at 8:30pm. That gives me an extra 20min. And I read that one can go from Terminal 5 (Delta) to Terminal 7 or 8 via tunnels without exiting security. Does this sound right?

Yes, that is correct and much more reasonable.

Hello, I am flying through DFW on my way from Houston to London. Both flights are on American and on the same reservation so I won't have to deal with baggage, but since one is domestic and the other international I'm worried about the connection. I only have 46 minutes. I assume that's enough to make the transfer from the domestic to the international American terminals since AA booked it, but if I'm delayed at all, will I be out of luck? What's the minimum amount of time needed to transfer betwen American domestic and international? Thanks!

It's possible to make that connection in 30 minutes, I believe that 45 is the minimum though. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security. It is possible if the first flight is on-time. If you miss your connection, American does have 3 daily flights from DFW to London If you are not already on the last one of the night, you will be rebooked on the next available one.

  • EWR (international) to ATL (domestic) connection

I have 2.5 hours between my international arrival into EWR and domestic departure for ATL on United throughout. I believe the terminals are different. My queries are: 1. Will I go through immigration in EWR or ATL? 2. Can I book my luggage through to ATL from my international port of departure, or do I have to pick up and recheck my bags at EWR? 3. In light of the above, are 2.5 hours enough time to make the transfer? Thanks

You will arrive in Terminal B or C in Newark, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. You will depart from Terminal A or C. If necessary, take the AirTrain to your departure terminal, then go through security. 2.5 hours is enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi I am travelling from Las Vegas to London via a 35 minute stopover at Houston, my terminals are C to E, will their be enough time to make the connection if my initial flight is on time?

Yes, barely. It leaves no time to spare if your flight from Las Vegas is late.

  • Delta NO to LAX to SYD

Hello, I had a Delta flight from New Orleans which arrived at LAX at 5pm. This was cancelled, and I was offered a flight that arrives LAX (Terminal 5) at 9:00pm to get my 10:40pm United flight ( Terminal 7 ) to SYD. I attempted to change this flight, but was ensured 1.5hrs was enough time to catch this flight. The airline has once again changed my flight which will now arrive LAX (Terminal 5) at 9:20pm. I advised the change wasn't suitable for me (not enough time to get my connecting international flight), but they are not offering a change free of charge or refund. Despite all this, I thought it might be worth asking if catching this connecting flight might still be possible? To summerise its: Delta flight arriving LAX Terminal 5 9:20pm United flight to SYD from Terminal 7 at 10:40pm Please advise, Thanks!

They are required to offer you a refund because of the involuntary schedule change. However, if you don't have checked baggage or if you purchased your tickets on a single reservation and your bags are tagged through to SYD, it is possible to make that connection as it is now possible to walk from T5 to T7 inside security using the underground walkway between T5 and T6.

Hi ZAP, I'll attempt to get the refund or flight changed, but if not I'll take try for your recommendation. Thanks for the info

Flying Delta from CLE to JFK. Arriving at 18:43. Flight on Singapore Airlines leaves for FRA at 20:55. Will I need to collect my luggage and re-check it? Do I need to go through security again? Do I have enough time? Thanks.

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together. If together then you won't have to claim your bags and just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in T4. If separately you will have a tough time because you will have to claim your bags from Delta and re-check them with Singapore then go through security.

I purchased my tickets separately. I can take an earlier flight but that means sitting in JFK for almost 8 hours.

You'll either have to do that or you can fly to LGA and leave about 4 hours between flights and do a connection between airports. There's a lot more flights from CLE to LGA than to JFK.

  • how to get from terminal one to other terminals

Hello, we have a long delay between when our flight arrives on Southwest and I believe it will come into terminal one. we have about 4 hours before our shuttle to the cruise terminal. is there anyway to walk from terminal one to other terminals airside? if not, if there anywhere that we could store our luggage while we go back thru security into another terminal to be able to access the priority lounges? we are traveling with 3 children

Terminal 1 is not connected to any other terminal airside and you will not be allowed to enter any other terminal through security as you will not have a boarding pass departing LAX that day. LAX also does not have baggage storage.

12:50 AM flight is to JFK on Delta airlines

OK, I see it now. Yes, that should barely be enough time. You will have to hurry to the shuttle bus to Terminal 5 after collecting your bags from Aegean.

I have flight from Athens on Aegan/Olympic arriving at 10:00 AM with a separately booked flight to JCK departing at 12:50 PM on a Monday in August. Is this enough transfer time?

Where are you connecting? Where are you going? What airline are you flying? JCK is Julia Creek, Australia, which does not have scheduled airline service.

I am fly from Nassau to Milwaukee with a connection in Atlanta is 1 1/2 enough time to clear customs and reboard or look for something longer

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Nassau. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside securty. 90 minutes should be plenty of time.

Hello ~ I am looking at a returning flight from Lisbon, Portugal to Detroit, MI via Philadephia. The returning flight from Lisbon has a 1 hour 55 minute layover in Philadelphia before my connection to Detroit. Will this be ample time to clear customs and make my connections? I will be traveling on US Airways. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time.

I have a flight from Dubai to Dallas on Emirates Airline and then to Tucson, Arizona on U.S. Airways. For the return flight, U.S. airways arrive at DFW 11 and the Emirates leaves DFW at 12:15. So, basically there is one hour between the two flights. Is the 1 hour enough and do I have to go through bag claim area, re-collect my bag and then go through security? I am not a U.S. citizen.

Did you buy your tickets together or separately? If together your bags will be tagged through to Dubai in Tucson and you just need to take the SkyLink train from your arrival gate to your departure gate in DFW. If separately, that is not enough time - in that case you need to get an earlier flight from Tucson.
