Flying on Dec 20th from Vancouver to Dublin via O'Hare, arriving at T1 at 5:00pm and leaving T5 at 7:15pm. Do I need to pick up and recheck my bags when I arrive at O'Hare or can I proceed straight to T5 (both flights were booked at the same time). Also, given the busy holiday season, will the ~2hrs connecting time be sufficient?

Yes, you can proceed directly to T5 via the ATS train, get your Aer Lingus boarding pass if you don't already have it, and then go through security. Your baggage will be transferred. you should have plenty of time.

  • London to Fort Lauderdale via Chicago on American Airlines

Flying in to terminal 5 from London then have to connect via terminal 3 for flight to Fort Lauderdale - only have 1hr 25 between flights , is this enough time ? Both flights are with American Airlines.

It is 5 minutes under the minimum connection time. You'll probably be OK, but you'll have to hurry.

Hey there! I'm not very experienced at this so any extra detail/tip would be welcome. My connection is from Munich-15:30 (Lufthansa) to Atlanta-17:43 (Delta). How short am I on time? Will I need to wait for my luggage on the conveyor belt thing and have it checked and re-checked again? If I do miss it, will they re-book my flight or will I need to buy a new ticket? Will warning the airport staff in advance help? And lastly, would it be helpful to ask airport staff for help or am I better off just figuring stuff out on my own? Your time will be very much appreciated, thank you!

Yes, you will have to claim your baggage to go through US Customs. If you purchased your tickets together and your bags are tagged through to Atlanta you can re-check them at the transfer desk after you go through customs. Otherwise you will have to take them to the Delta counter on the departure level of the terminal and pay a checked bag fee. You should have enough time.

Thanks ZAP! They were purchased separately, so I assume there is no way of making them tagged no. Would you kindly also comment on the ticket re-book possibility? Thanks.

Yes, since you purchased separate tickets you will have to take them to the delta ticket counter to re-check them. If you do miss your connection, since you purchased separate tickets, you will have to stand by for the next flight with availability and may have to pay a fee in order to do so.

My wife and parents are traveling from PHL-KRK with a stop in FRA, the transfer only allows them with an hour to spare from their arrival flight on LH427 connecting in FRA-KRK flight LH1364. I have not being able to figure out which terminal would they be arriving in FRA and departing out of FRA to KRK, does anyone has any info on those connections and a good layover map to guide the quickest way avoiding them to miss their connection?

I only have 1 hr 20 to get from terminal 1 to terminal 3 is that enough?

Yes, but why do you have to make such a connection?

Hello, please tell me if I might make the following connection on October 14: UA 1406 arriving at 7:35 pm connecting to UA 1687 leaving at 9:00 pm. I have carry-on only and a Global Passport.

That is 5 minutes below the published minimum time but you will probably be OK.

  • Transfer - need to go through security again?

I have a flight from Dublin to Minneapolis with a layover in Newark. Dublin airport has US customs preclearance (go through US customs in Dublin so you land in the US as a domestic flight). I am wondering if I will need to go through security again when transferring in Newark. Both my flights are with United Airlines. I am specifically wondering for the liquid limit, as I plan to buy my father some Guinness in the Dublin airport duty-free shops, for a Christmas present, and would hate to need to discard it in Newark airport.

Yes, the Dublin flight arrives in Terminal C and your flight will depart from C or A. United runs a shuttle bus inside security if your flight to MSP departs from Terminal A.

Sorry, bit confused, because you started your reply with "yes" but then seem like you are saying I would not need to. Do you mean that no, I will not need to go through security again? Many thanks for your knowledgable answer though.

Sorry that was confusing. The "Yes" meant you were correct. You will not have to go through security in Newark as long as you take the shuttle bus to Terminal A (if you end up needing to go there).

  • Fly in from Tahiti, time to make connection to CHI?

I am looking to book a flight and here is the dilemma. We will be flying back into LAX on Thursday, April 30 from Tahiti at 10:55 AM (travel arrangements already purchased through an agency). We need to get to Chicago and unfortunately the only decent option is to fly out at 12:55 PM. I read there are new kiosks to help speed up the US customs process. Will this be enough time to get through customs, get our checked in bags (likely 2), and re-check in through security and to our gate? We are due to arrive at the International terminal and plan to fly out to Chicago via Delta. Thanks.

It's sort of pushing it. I would want a little more time, but 2 hours is probably doable. I made the same connection in October - we arrived at 10:25 and flew out at 1:10 and had comfortably enough time, but didn't have a whole lot to spare. There are lots of nonstop flights to Chicago on United, American, Virgin America, and Southwest. Why are you stuck to Delta, who does not fly LAX-Chicago nonstop?

American is another option but we have Delta frequent flyer miles and get upgrades (free check in bags, possible 1st class, etc). If push comes to shove, I'll go with American but was curious if anyone thought it would be enough time (but part of me doesn't want to chance it since flights come in late all the time). Also, you're right, there are no non-stop flights (I can't imagine why there aren't) so we'd also have a short layover in MSP. Thank you for the reply.

  • Domestic to international flight connection time

I want to book a domestic flight connecting to an international flight in Dallas. I do not know the terminals of each. There is only 1 hr 12 mins between arrival and departure. Is that enough time, It is in the morning presumably before delays . Will I have to go through security again because it is an international flight? As this seems to be a once daily flight to PVG, I would be stuck if I missed the connection.

No, you won't have to go through security. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security. Your PVG flight will depart from Terminal D.

United changed our flight schedule and now we arrive with a party of 6 into IAH at 2:00 PM from Amsterdam on December 20, 2014 and our connecting flight is at 3.37 PM to Denver. Do we have enough time to recheck our baggage and go through immigration? do we have to go through security once again?

Yes, that shouldl be enough time. Yes, after you re-check your baggage you will go through security.

  • Flying from LHR to Vegas via SEA

Hi I am arriving from LHR with BA at 11.05am . My connecting flight is with Alaska at 1.30pm. I will have no checked luggage. Is this enough time to catch the Alaska flight to Vegas at 1.30pm ?

Yes, that is plenty of time. You can get your Alaska boarding pass online before you leave london and proceed directly to security and to your departure gate after you clear customs.

I need to transfer from terminal 3 to b Korean airline do i need to fo though security screening again

Yes, you will have to go through security again. Depending on the airline you are flying into Terminal 3, you may have to bring your bags with you as well.

Can I go from terminal 1 to Terminal B (International) for eating. They have good restaurant there. or Can I directly check in to Terminal B with Terminal 1 flight.

I'm flying into Dallas tomorrow from Los Angeles, landing at 6pm in terminal A.. My connection flight to ft. Lauderdale leaves at 645, what's the best route to getting to terminal C from terminal A? And is that enough time?

The Skytrain connects all terminals inside security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
