I'll fly from Narita (AA airlines) and my arrival will be in T4, the connection flight depart from T6. Will i have to clear custom and immigration (not US citizen), claim baggage in T4 or do it in TBIT?

You will arrive, clear immigration, claim your baggage, go through customs, and re-check your bags all in T4 (assuming you bought all your tickets on one reservation). After re-checking your bags go outside to the curbfront and it's a short walk to T6. What airline are you flying onwards out of T6?

Thank for your reply, i'm arrive at T4 on AA170 and depart from T6 on AA7072 to Seattle, and all my tickets on one reservatoin. I don't know what to do in LAX. I search on google about T4 map and don't find any map show that T4 has points to do something like clear immigration and custom. So i think that i have to walk to TBIT to do that things.

No, T4 does have immigration. It's all on the lower level and doesn't show up on the maps since all you do there is wait in line. Today, for example, AA170 arrived at gate 41 (which is in T4). American's map of T4 does show the International arrivals in T4 as well - http://www.aa.com/i18n/aboutUs/whereWeFly/terminals/terminal_LAX.jsp FYI, if you don't know your flight to Seattle will be operated by Alaska Airlines.

By the way, my eticket show that the flight from LAX to SEA is AA7072 at 2:10 PM (operated by AS) but i didn't find the information about this flight (departure, gate), i also didn't find any flights departing to SEA at that time ... I guess it depart from T6, what exactly the flight AA7072?

AA7072 is Alaska Airlines flight 461 currently. Right now it is a 2:50 PM flight, so perhaps it changes to a 2:10 PM flight when you are traveling. You could go to the alaska airlines website and search for a flight that matches yours on the day you are traveling.

I'm a portuguese tourist arriving from Lisbon in terminal B at 15.50 (TP103) on 15th November and transferring to Terminal C for a connecting flight to Ft Lauderdale at 18.56 (UA1416). Will there be enough time for passport check, customs and transfer? We have to pick up bags after go through passport check? Do we bring bags to Terminal C or there is some other droppoint before take the Air train?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. If your bags are checked through to FLL in Lisbon, you will just have to claim your bags after you go through immigration, then go through customs, then you can drop them off at the re-check desk and you won't have to take them to TC with you.

    Grateful for the attention.

Many thanks, Zap, for your info about shuttle bus service from T-A to T-C, but pls let me have another question. Should be it faster if I take the Air Train between terminals than the shuttle bus despite i have to go thru securuty again on the Air Train option?

No, because of security (and because it usually shortens the walking distance a little bit) the shuttle bus is pretty much always faster.

We are travelling from Toronto (AA airlines) to LA connecting with Qantas Terminal B. Will our luggage be checked through to Australia? Will we beable to by pass customs and security? Qantas runs a shuttle service is this faster than walking from T4 to TBIT? Thank you

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. When you arrive in LAX, you should just walk from T4 to the TBIT where you will go through security.

At Toronto, use their U.S. customs clearance - foregoing this procedure at LAX. As to baggage - Qantas AA both belong to the Oneworld Alliance - your bags will automatically be transferred. Note that AA uses both T3 & T4; Qantas TBIT & T4; If you need to transfer between them use the Qantas shuttle bus. (a connector at TBIT is soon to be in place linking it to T4).

Your arrival will be in T4, AA does not use T3. Qantas flights to Brisbane use T4. Qantas flights to Melbourne and Sydney use the TBIT. It's a very easy walk from T4 to the TBIT should you choose to walk. http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/airport-guide-los-angeles/global/en

I have only 55 minutes to connect from Terminal A to Terminal C, Ua domestic flt to Ua international. My question is how often shuttle buses are running from T-A to T-C and how long does it take

I estimate it would take about 20-25 minutes. They run pretty frequently, but it's a bit of a long trip.

Sorry for the extra informaiton. The incoming flight is from Sydney and the outgoing flight is to Panama City.

Yes, that should be enough time to make your connection, even if you have to move bags yourself.

I am arriving at Terminal A from Toronto10:59 with connecting flight at Terminal C 12:56 going toTampa, what is the quickest way to get from A to C.

Make sure you go through U.S. customs clearance in Toronto - you arrive then as domestic arrivals and merely need to board the above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, & connects terminals A, B, C inside security. After the TerminaLink train station at TC, the gateways split into the gateway to gates C24 to C 27, to the right, gateway to gates C14 to C23 in the center, and C2 to C14 to the left. You have plenty of time.

  • 59mins - Terminal 6 to Terminal 8

II am landing from an international flight in Terminal 6 and have 59 mins until my flight to Canada leaves from Terminal 8. It is all booked through United. Will I need to clear Customs in LA before going to Canada and will I have enough time to make my next flight?

Where is your international flight from? AFAIK United should not have allowed you to book such a tight connection.

  • Moving checked Baggage from Terminal 2 or 3 to Terminal 5

I have to fly from ORD to DEL (India) by Air India on a ticket purchased for ORD-DEL. I am reaching ORD by United from LAX using a ticket purchased separately. My question is whether I shall be able to check my baggage thro LAX-ORD- DEL at LAX ? In case I have to collect my Checked at ORD Terminal 2 or 3, is it possible to re check my baggage with Air India at terminal 2 or 3 or should I have to transport my Baggage to be checked to terminal 5 ? What are the facilities to move checked baggage between terminals ?

If you are flying United into ORD, you will claim your baggage in Terminal 1. Since you bought your tickets on separate reservations you will have to transfer the bags between airlines yourself. You will have to take your baggage with you on the ATS train to Terminal 5 in order to check it with Air India.

I have booked a ticket together SUX to ORD using AA and ORD to DEL - BLR using Air Inida. DO I have to take the bags out and recheck in ORD?

  • Time to tranfer to an internal flight

We have booked to travel to IAH from London UK and have a connecting flight to New orleans. From arrival at IAH to departure of our connecting flight we have 1hour and 15 minutes. We have been assured that our checked in baggage will be routed directly to new orleans without the need for us to collect it at IAH and recheck it for the connecting flight. We have also been informed that we will be able to go through the arrivals procedure in time to make the connection. Can anyone comment on how realistic all this is?

Whatever information you got is wrong - you WILL have to collect it after clearing immigration in Houston and then re-check it at the re-check desk after clearing customs. You will also have to go through security after you drop your bags back off. I think that doing all this in only 75 minutes is highly optimistic. However, United does have almost hourly flights from Houston to New Orleans, so if you do miss your connection you will likely have ample opportunity to be rebooked.

Thanks for the reply and it is what we thought. However, our travel agent is adamant that we do not have to collect checked in baggage at Houston. Here is their replay: "With a through-fare the customers check their bags in a LHR and will collect them at their final destination, New Orleans, without any need to collect or recheck these in Houston. The airline will unload their bags in Houston and move these straight to the connecting flight. In very rare circumstances customers may need to identify their bags at the connecting airport, however this is only in exceptional circumstances (i.e. damage to the bag in transit)and is highly unlikely to happen." please can you comment.

Your travel agent is likely not familiar with the immigration requirements in the United States.

Thanks for your help. We have changed our flight times after your reply.
