Arrive LAX from Sydney 10.25am. Have connecting Delta flight to San Diego departing 12.07pm. Do we claim our checked baggage ourselves and re-check again at Terminal 5? Will we have enough time to catch connecting flight?

What airline are you flying from Sydney? You will have to claim your baggage to go through US CUstoms.

  • Enough time between connections?
    Oct 8, 2014
Hello! I plan to arrive in JFK T5 on EI105 from DUB & connect with AA2351 to MIA. I will do pre clearance in Dublin. I will be travelling on a split ticket so will have to collect luggage before transferring from T5 to T8 & vice versa on the return. Layover outbound is a 3h35 & 4hr31 min layover on the return. Will I be OK for time between flights? Thanks in advance.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

    Thank you.

  • 1 hr 50 min layover in IAH? International to domestic
    Oct 13, 2014
Hi, I will be arriving in IAH from Tokyo (NRT) at 1.45pm with flight UA6. My next flight to Austin (AUS) is at 3.35pm also with United operated by ExpressJetAirlines flight UA4623. Do I have enough time to clear custom and immigration? I am not US Citizen.

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with United at the transfer desk. Then you will go to the departures level, go through security then take the TerminaLink train to your departure gate which will likely be in Terminal B.

Flying toronto to belize through iah, only 1 hr connection time. I that enough? Will we have to go through customs?

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security. You should have enough time.

  • traveling from Denver to Doha

Im traviling from Denver to Chicago by AA and than to Qatar by Qatar air line on the same terminal three do i need to pick up my bags again when arriving to chicago airport

If your tickets were bought together then no, your bags will be checked through to Doha and you won't have to collect them in ORD. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Enough time?

Hello, I am flying from Ottawa to Copenhagen with transfer in Washington alone with my 3 month old baby. Do I need to collect my bags and recheck them? Also, is 1 hour enough time to make this connection?

You wil pre-clear US Immigration in Ottawa. Assuming you bought both flights on a single reservation, you do not have to do anything with your bags in Washington DC. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you for the fast reply. These were made under the same reservation, but the first fly(Ottawa-Washington) is with UNited Airlines and the second (Washington-Copenhagen) is with SAS a I still ok?

Yes, that's OK, in fact both of your flights will likely be in the same concourse building.

  • Connecting Flight Inquiry
    Oct 7, 2014
Hi, I am and irish citizen flying KLM Tor-JFK-Amsterdam. I arrive in Terminal 2 in JFK Dec 17th 13:43 and my connecting flight is through Terminal 4 at 16:50. Will I have to collect my luggage in JFK and then go through security and check in to the next flight in terminal 4? I am a bit concerned since I am not familiar with the airport...

Your first flight will be operated by Delta connection. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto. In JFK on your way to Amsterdam all you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Terminal 2 and Terminal 4 are connected inside security by a Delta shuttle bus. You should have plenty of time.

  • GCM to YUL through PHL

Hi, we are a family of 4 with 2 young kids. We will be travelling to YUL from GCM and connecting in PHL on december 21st with US Airways...is 2h enough connection time?

Yes, 2 hours should be enough time.

  • will i make our connecting flight
    Oct 7, 2014
Arriving form London into Atl, have a connecting flight to Tampa, all run by Delta via Virgin Atlantic, only have 2 hours is this enough time to clear security, customs and do we have to check in again for the next flight

No you will not have to check in for your next flight you will be issued all boarding passes in London. Upon arrival into Atlanta you will arrive in Concourse E/F, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage with Delta at the transfer desk, then you will go through security and take the plane train to your departure concourse for your flight to Tampa.

Also, yes, that should be enough time.

  • Transferring
    Oct 7, 2014
Hi, I'm flying from San Diego to LAX via United Airlines, arriving at LAX at Terminal 8 at 18:03. I'm then flying onto London Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic from Terminal 2 at 22:00. Will I have to pick up my bags and check in again? Is this enough time to do that if I have to?

If you bought your tickets together your bags will be checked through to London in San Diego and you won't have to do anything with them in LAX. However, if you bought two separate tickets they will not be checked through and you will have to claim them, then take them to T2 to Re-check them. You should have plenty of time.

No, that is not enough time. You should not have purchased that itinerary - you need to change it.

  • Terminal Connections
    Oct 10, 2014
I am flying with my 84 year old mother on UA from GSP to IAD and connecting to Hong Kong, also on UA. Is 40 minutes enough time to make our connection and where do we need to go? She is mobile, but won't be able to run if need be. Should I get a wheel chair to speed things up?

United does not fly IAD to Hong Kong nonstop. Where are you flying first? Getting a wheel chair may not be a bad idea.

Sorry, flying IAD to Tokyo, then to HK. Flight from IAD to Tokyo departs at 12:20pm, my flight from GSP arrivies in IAD at 11:39 am. Only gives us 40 minutes. Enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time and you will likely have to take the aerotrain or mobile lounge from concourse A to Concourse C or D. It doesn't leave much time for delays either.

  • Catching our flight
    Oct 7, 2014
We arrive from MSP into terminal 4 at 9pm and have to catch a flight to Italy out of terminal 1 at 10:15pm. Do we need to go through security again? What's the fastest way to get to terminal 1? Do we need to recheck our bags? We go through jfk on the way back - will we need to recheck our bags on the way back? Any details would be GREAT!

Your flight from MSP will actually likely arrive in Terminal 2 (but may arrive in Terminal 4). Regardless, the only way to get to T1 is via the AirTrain, which runs outside security. If you purchased your tickets together then they will be checked through to Italy and you won't have to claim them in JFK on your way to Italy. On the return, you will arrive in T1, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then if your bags are tagged through to MSP, you can immediately re-check them. Otherwise you will have to take them with you on the AirTrain to T2 or T4 to re-check them.

  • Security Check Points
    Oct 6, 2014
Are there security check points at each terminal? I have a connecting flight in Terminal E. I will be coming from outside security and will need to pass through again.

Yes, every terminal has its own security checkpoints.

  • Transfer from United to ANA, security? is 1:20 enough time?
    Oct 6, 2014
Flying United domestic flight to SFO to connect to an ANA flight to Tokyo. We have 1:20 layover. Do we have to change terminals? Do we have to go through security? Thanks.

You may have to change terminals, but there is a walkway inside security between United's Terminal and the International terminal, so you should have enough time and you won't have to go through security.

  • 1 hour 50 mins
    Oct 6, 2014
Next Wednesday we have a flight LHR-ORD-BNA. We land in T5 and will need to clear immigration and customer before crossing to T3 for the second leg. Is 1 hour 50 minutes ample time or will we be rushing? How do we cross from T5 to T3 and what happens to our bags?

Customs, not customer. Stupid predictive text!

You will claim your bags after you go through US Immigration and before you go through US Customs. After customs you can immediately re-check your bags with American at the transfer desk. Then you will go up 2 levels to the ATS train and take it one stop to T3. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.
