  • Transfer time non-connecting flight
    Mar 9, 2014

Flying from Rome (via Munich) with Lufthansa at 1030 a.m. Non-connecting flight with KLM to Canada at 1230. Do we pick up our luggage, go through customs, then to a KLM baggage drop off point? Is 2 hours enough for an international flight? I will have already checked in online.

You will not have to go through customs in Amsterdam as Rome, Munich, and Amsterdam are all within the Schengen area. So you will just have to pick up your bags at the Schengen Baggage claim and check them with KLM. Alternatively, it never hurts to ask if the Lufthansa agent in Rome can check your bags through to your KLM to Canada. Lufthansa and KLM do have an interline agreement. You will have to show your KLM flight confirmation to the Lufthansa agent if you want to try this.

Thank you so much for your very helpful answer. Relieves a lot of stress!

Hello, I'm traveling from Frankfurt with LH to Phoenix via Denver. I have 1h50 min in Denver to clear immigration, customs, get my bag, check in and border. Is that do-able? (we hav to liitle sons) Thank you very much for Reply

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Arriving from ATL at CDG then on to MRS

I will arrive from Atlanta at CDG at T2E at 8:10 A.M. then transfer to Marseille at T2F. I would like to know if I am supposed to go through immigration and or customs at CDG first before leaving for Marseille. I only have 84 minutes between flights which are both on Air France. Do I have enough time? Thank you very much for whatever advise you could give me.

You will go through Schengen immigration in Paris. It's not a choice you'll have to make, when you go towards your flight to Marseille you will have to go through it. Yes, you should have enough time.

Thank you very much, Zap. That's very helpful.

  • 1.5 hours lay over - Enough Time
    Mar 7, 2014

We are flying from Charlotte to Dulles to catch our flight to Zurich, Switzerland for our wedding. We have a layover of about 1.5 hours. Will this be enough time in light of immigration, etc?

Only international ARRIVALS need to go through immigration process. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iad, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text, including Midfield Concourses, gates, transfer, etc. 1.5 hrs. should suffice.

If arriving to Las Vegas on United what terminal do they use?

You will arrive in the D satellite concourse and then take the tram to Terminal 3 to collect your baggage. There's ample signage showing you which train to get on.

  • Cody to LAX - 45 min connecting time
    Mar 6, 2014
    1
Looking at a United flight for first week of August from Cody, WY to LAX stopping in DEN for 45mins. Is that enough time? I'm also needing to book a flight from LAX to Sydney, Australia after that, so if it's likely I might not make the flight in DEN and need to be placed on a later United flight to LAX, I guess I may need to book the LAX-Sydney flight for the next day to be safe... Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!

45 minutes is plenty of time for that connection if your first flight is on-time. All United and United Express flights in Denver are on the same concourse. If you miss your connection in LAX then United will accomodate you on the flight the next evening to Sydney. I wouldn't build in the extra day of travel unless you really want to spend an extra day in LA.

  • Transit Visa

We are flying from London Heathrow to Houston before taking a connecting flight to Cancun. Do we need a transit visa for this? Thanks.

Are you a UK Citizen? The US doesn't require visas for UK citizens for stays shorter than 90 days.

    Yes, thanks.

You will need an ESTA. Google it. Apply on line. Cost is $14.

  • Is enough time for connection.

We will arrive at JFK from JAX (t5) with JetBlue and depart to Dubai with Emirates (t4). Is 1 hour and 30 min enough?

Yes, if both of you bought your tickets on one reservation your bags will be transferred automatically and all you have to do is take the Airtrain from T5 to T4 and go through security.

  • Distance Betweeen Concourses in Terminal B

Since we are travelling with an elderly person, I would like to know if we can go from concourse A in Terminal B to concourse D in same terminal within 55 mins? He cannot walk very fast. Will we need to stop for any security or other checks?

It's possible if your first flight is on-time. Yes, each concourse has its own security so you'll have to go through security in D.

  • united security shuttle sign?
    Mar 5, 2014
    0
My mom is a senior who does not speak English. She is making a connection in EWR, arriving at Terminal A and leaving from Terminal C, both on United. I did my homework and it seems straightforward to take the security shuttle. However, as she does not speak or read English, I am not sure how she can find where to take the shuttle. So the shuttle is near Gate A28. Does she go out through Gate A28? Or there is another door for the shuttle stop? Is there a sign for the shuttle that she can look out for? Or better, any one happens to take a picture of the sign? Thanks.

  • 30 minute connection
    Mar 5, 2014

traveling with 82 yr old can we make our 30 min connection flight. is it possible. american airlines next flight flying with united

No, that's not possible. You have to exit Terminal 4, walk nearly half a mile to Terminal 6/7, then go back through security. You should not have booked such an itinerary (or don't book it if you haven't yet).

  • Time between flights
    Mar 5, 2014

I have a United flight from Toronto to Hong Kong through Newark with 1hr1min between flights. Arrival is in terminal A, departure is in terminal C of Newark. Is it possible to make the connection (I'm told there is a shuttle bus for United)? United tells me I do not need to recheck baggage, but need to go through customs. Is it possible to go through US customs pre-clearance in Toronto for this? Thanks.

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. So all you have to do in Newark is take the shuttle bus from Terminal A to Terminal C and to your gate. It shouldn't take more than 20-25 minutes.

    Thank you!

  • Change terminals
    Mar 5, 2014

Flying from Boston to Houston on United, change planes in Houston for Guadalajara to ExpressJet Arilines doing business as United Express. Which terminal will I land, and which terminal will I depart?

You will likely arrive in Terminal C (possibly E) and you will depart from Terminal B. The TerminaLink Train connects all Terminals inside security.
