  • Delta from Clt to Atl to Paris

We are flying to Paris (from Charlotte) on Delta/Air France on Thursday. We arrive ATL at 7:47 and depart at 9:00. On our return flight, we have only an hour layover in Atlanta. Is this enough time on both ends?

On your way there that should be enough time. All you will have to do is take the plane train from your arrival concourse to concourse E/F for your departure. On the return I don't think that's enough time as you will have to go through US Immmigration, claim your bags, re-check them, and go through security before taking the plane-train to your departure concourse. Delta has numerous flights from Atlanta to Charlotte that you can be re-booked onto with a much more comfortable connection

  • Connection Info needed

I booked a ticket from Boston to Sydney with Qantas. I fly from Boston Logan (codeshare, operated by American Airlines) and arrive at Dallas/Fort Worth Intl at 8:40pm and then fly from Dallas/Fort Worth Intl to Sydney departing terminal D at 10.00pm. Can you please guide me through the connection process at DFW (eg what terminal I will likely arrive in from Boston Logan, will i need to go through immigration/security, will I need to re-check my luggage at DWF or will AA make sure my luggage goes through to Sydney once I check in at Boston etc)?

You will arrive in Terminal A, C, or D (likely A or C). All you have to do upon arrival in DFW all you have to do is go from your arrival terminal (if it is not D) to Terminal D via the SkyLink train, which runs inside security. You won't have to go through any immigration or security or do anything with your baggage. Your baggage will be checked through to Sydney in Boston.

    Thanks for response ZAP.

  • Raleigh to Amsterdam via JFK

Hi, I will be travelling to Amsterdam via JFK soon. My flight operated by Delta should arrive in at 14.56 on a saturday and my connecting flight also operated by delta leaves at 16.40. I am first time solo flyer so am a bit scared of connections! Im wondering if that is enough time to be able to do it successfully, and what steps I need to go through to have a smooth transition? I am from the UK if that helps (or hinders) Thanks!

You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 4. Delta runs a shuttle bus that runs inside security between these two terminals. All you will have to do is take the shuttle bus between the two terminals and go to your gate. You should have enough time.

Thanks for your help (on both my questions) - From your response I won't have to get my baggage (or go through customs, presumably because the flight is from the US to the US)?

Yes, you won't have to do anything with your baggage in JFK and that is the reason why.

    Thanks for your help

  • Stopover from Amsterdam to Raleigh, 2h 15m

Hi, I will be travelling to Raleigh via Detroit soon. My flight operated by Delta should arrive in at 13.30 on a saturday (from Amsterdam) and my connecting flight to Raleigh also operated by delta leaves at 15.45. I am first time solo flyer so am a bit scared of connections! Im wondering if that is enough time to be able to do it successfully, and what steps I need to go through to have a smooth transition? Thanks!

When you arrive in Detroit you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through customs, and then re-check your baggage at the re-check desk. You will then go upstairs and go through security and to your departing gate. Everything will be in the same terminal. You should have plenty of time.

Hi, I will be travelling to America via Amsterdam soon. My flight operated by Delta should arrive in at 8.40am on a saturday (from the UK) and my connecting flight also operated by delta leaves at 10.35am. Delta does not fly from the UK to Amsterdam, so that flight will actually be operated by KLM. Just find out your departing gate upon arrival and follow the signs to that gate. You will go through security when you get to your gate.

Travelling from Rome on LH or LH City Line, departing on LH for Toronto. Is 1 1/2 hour layover enough

Your transfer time should suffice. Lufthansa uses Concourses /gates A B. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/fra, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text with transfer options.

  • transfer @YVR to Chicago

I fly from China to YVR on Air China at 10:30 am on Saturday. I need to make the connection with United Airlines leaving at 12:36 pm from YVR to Chicago. I have a check-in bag. I hold Chinese passport and a U.S. green card. I have about two hours to transfer the flights. Do I have enough time to make the transfer. Thank you!

Yes you have enough time for transfer. You will arrive at Terminal 5 & departfrom Terminal 1. 1. Air China & United are both members of the Star Alliance; therefore your bag will automatically be transferred. 2. On arrival at Terminal 5, you will have go through passport check, retrieve checked bag, go through customs clearance - then re-check-in bag where indicated. 3. Thereafter, proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting Terminal 1, where you need to go through security check. Terminal 1 has Concourses B (gates B1-22 & Concourse C (gates C1-32). Concourse C is a separate building, connected to Concourse B gates by walkway. Follow signs.

Disregard SUNOV, his instructions are for a connection at ORD. He does not know how to read. At YVR you will go through Canadian immigration, claim your baggage, re-check your baggage at the re-check desk. Then go upstairs, get your United boarding pass if you don't already have it, go to the US departures area, go through US immigration, claim your bag AGAIN, go through US customs, then re-check your bag again, then go to your gate.

flying Vancouver to Huston (united) and onto Ft Lauderdale same day. is terminal E the only one I use??

Make sure to go through U.S. Customs Clearance at Vancouver, saving you time at IAH. United uses Terminals A, B, C & E with corresponding gates (like A11, C29, etc.) Your ticket and the overhead screens on arrival will indicate flight|& gate number. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iah, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text with transfer information.

Neither of your flights will likely be in Terminal E. Both will likely be in Terminal C. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Vancouver.

Hi, I will be flying on CX from HKG landing at ORD at 13:50. I then plan to transfer to AA2772 to YUL departing 15:45. Is this sufficient time? Will I need to collect my bags upon arrival at terminal 5 or can they be checked through? Thanks for your help!

Yes you have enough time for transfer: 1. Cathay & AA belong to the Oneworld Alliance - therefore your bags will automatically be transferred; 2. On arrival at Terminal 5, you will have go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. (AA uses both Terminals 3 & 5 - If your connecting flight is at T5 - your gate number will start with an M, while T3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates.

Your departure will be from Terminal 3, not Terminal 5. No American flights depart from Terminal 5. Otherwise sanov's recommendations are correct.

  • 40 minutes connection from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2

I have a domestic flight transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. And the connection time is only 40 minutes. Will I be able to make it? How far is it? Thank you!

It only takes at most 15-20 minutes to walk between T1 and T2, usually less. They are connected beyond security.

  • Terminal change from E to A

I have a connection flight from Houston to Denver with 2.5 hours. The incoming flight is Emirates and outgoing is Frontier. Would this time be sufficient to cover immigration, collection and placing the baggage for next flight.

It will be tight. Your Emirates flight will actually arrive in D, not E. You will have to use the Inter-Terminal Train (which runs outside security) to get from D to A and take your baggage with you unless Emirates is able to check your bags through to Frontier (I suspect that they will not). If they are able to check them through to Denver, then you can drop them at the re-check desk after US Customs. Regardless you'll have to take the Inter-Terminal Train.

Thanks. I got the itenary mentioned as Terminal E. Aplogise for the confusion. So would it be better to consider rebooking

I think you'll have enough time.

  • 25 min layover

flying in on United from Honolulu at 8:44AM and need to take SW flight to Phoenix at 9:10. Is 25 mins enough to get on SW flight?? I think i need to get from Terminal B to Terminal C... THX!'

forgot to mention i will have no luggage

You will have to change concourses. I really don't think that's enough time. You will absolutely have to check-in online for your Southwest flight and print out your boarding pass before you leave Honolulu if you want to have any chance of making that connection. If there are any delays on your Honolulu flight, you will miss the connection.

Also, yes, you will arrive in B and depart from C. They are connected inside security by an underground train.

We fly from venice to Rome on AZ 1466, arriving in terminal 1 and then connect to AZ610 flying to New York from terminal 3. we have 1hr and 15 min connection. Will we have to do any customs/immigration and will be able to check our bags al the way through to NY? If we don't have to get bags etc, is 1 hr and 15 min enough time to transfer?

No, you will not have to go through immigration in Rome, just security. Yes, your bags should be checked all the way though to New York in Venice.

Then will 1hr and 15 min be enough time to transfer?

Yes, if your first flight is on-time you should be OK

I am arriving from Toronto on Skywest Airlines (operating as United Express) and then travelling to San Salvador on United with a 1 hr and 5 minute connection time. Terminals not assigned yet, any idea which terminal I will likely be routed through?

You will likely arrive in Terminal B. You will depart from Terminal E. You will pre-clear US immigration in Toronto. In IAH, you will have to take the TerminaLink train from B to E (assuming you arrive in B). You will have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
