Hi, my husband and I are looking into book a flight from Vancouver Canada to Lihue Hawaii. All would be booked with united and we would clear customs in Vancouver prior to take off. They are stating a 44 min connection time in between. If we went straight from plane to plane would we be alright? I have made 40 min connection in Seattle before but am not familiar with San Fran airport. Many thanks.

Yes, San Francisco is a little more delay prone butt the process would be the same. All United gates at SFO are connected inside security.

If your tickets were bought together you do not. You will preclear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto.

booked with expressjet airlines and united express, connecting time is 1hr 10 mins at IAD (Whashington, DC Dules), Do I need to go through security again? Where to find my flight arrival & departure terminal?

IAD only has one terminal. United and United Express use concourses A, C, and D. A is connected to C and D inside security by the mobile lounge and aerotrain.

Hi, we are travelling from Melb to NYC on Qantas, arriving at LAX ay 7:10 am, departing for NYC at 10am. Is this enough time? Our flights are on the one ticket. Do we have to collect our luggage and re-check it in, or do we just have to go through customs and immigration and have our onboard luggage scanned. Also, we arrive Terminal B and depart Terminal 4, are they far apart?

Yes, that should be more than enough time. Yes, you will go through Immigration and customs in LAX and you will have to claim your luggage and re-check it.

Also, the International Terminal and T4 are right next to each other.

I am flying from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Chicago (ORD). I have a 55 minute stopover before my flight to Seattle (SEA). Will 55 minutes be enough time to connect and get my checked luggage onto the flight or should I pick a different flight?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Assuming you purchased your tickets together your baggage will be transferred automatically, you don't have to do anything with it in Chicago. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto.

We are flying United from Boise to ORD then onto Brussells and only have 44 minutes between flights. It is a United flight from ORD to Brussels. Do we have to go thru customs/security? Will the connecting flight be in the same terminal?

You do not go through US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may arrive in T1 or T2 and your departure will be from T1, however, T1 and T2 are connected inside security by a walkway.

Hi, i have a flight from ord to dtw connecting to nagoya via delta air with only 1 hour layover at detroit. Do i have to get my luggage and recheck at detroit? How about security check and immigration? Thanks

No, you do not go through US Immigration when leaving the United States. All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will likely both be on the A Concourse of the McNamara Terminal.

    Great thank you.

  • Connecting thru PHL, from ITH to PIT

Booked with US Airways. Connecting time is 1hr 17mins. Do I have enough time to go the the custom and collect the luggage and checked in again. Where to find my flight arrival & departure terminal?

When you are on a domestic flight you do not have to go through customs or collect your baggage for your connection. So all you have to do in PHL is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your arrival gate will be in F and your departure gate may be in another terminal. F is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus inside security.

My daughter arrives JFK Terminal 4 @ 11am by SQ. Leave for Buffalo from Terminal 5 via Jetblu. Which level is the Airtrain located and what is the fastest way to get to Terminal 5?

There are ample signs to the airtrain. It is actually located outside the terminals so it really isn't on a level. Yes, that is the only way to T5.

Im arriving to IAH at 11:44am on UA flight 699 from Edmonton Alberta and connecting to MSY on UA 5094 at 12:30pm. What terminal will my MSY flight being departing from and is 46min enough time for the connection? Granted my 1st flight is on time.

Both of your flights will likely be in Terminal C. 46 mins should be enough time.

  • Enough time for International flight??

I will be traveling from DFW on Oct 13th (Columbus Day) to JFK. Then from JFK to Nairobi on Brussels. This is with a tour that starts at JFK (we make our own connecting flight) I was told I should check in at least 3.5 hours before (which seems excessive). My flight thru JFK is non-stop via Delta arriving at 2:55pm and im scheduled to leave for Nairobi at 5:55pm. Is this enough time to get my bags an check them in for the international flight?. I will be leaving from Terminal 1. I can always change my flight but prefer to do non-stop to avoid losing baggage and this is the earliest non stop flight.

Yes, that should be enough time. 3.5 hours is excessive. They just tell people that so people don't try to cut it too close.

Dear forum members I have a 30 minute gap between 2 domestic United airlines flights. Reservation was done at united.com. Is it doable to catch my connection else I can cancel in the next few hrs. My domestic flight arrives at 4.42 pm at Denver on Tuesday, Dec 2,2014 and my connecting flight to another US city is at 5.16 pm. I am an adult traveling alone with no mobility issues. Please advise! Thank you for this wonderful forum

Yes, it is possible. All United gates at DEN are located on the B concourse.

    Thank you very much Zap!

Hi, I'm flying from Los Angeles to Incheon (Seoul), South Korea. I have a layover of 34 minutes in Seattle. Assuming no delays, is this enough time for a connection / transfer? Thanks in advance.

    Also, I am flying Delta.

Yes, that should be enough time. Both flights should be in the S satellite.
