  • Is 2 hours enought time EWR to MCO?
    Sep 28, 2014
    5
We're arriving from Glasgow, Scotland into EWR on Icelandair flight (Terminal B?) at 19.00 - then out to MCO with United at 21.00. Will the 2 hours be enough time to make the connection?

On arrival at Terminal B of EWR, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bags. NOTE: While Iceland will Arrive at Terminal B (TB), United uses TC for its departures (check-in levels 2 & 3), while United Express uses both TA & TC for its departures. If you bought separate tickets find out if Iceland will transfer your bags to your United flight - if not, you need, after Customs clearance, pick up your bag & check it in which United or United Express. If you need to transfer from TB to TC, you need to take the AirTrain (follow signs), but will have to go through security check at TC before proceeding to connecting gate. 2 hrs. transfer time should be enough. Be warned - TSA arrivals process can be trying at EWR (rude personnel there) - keep you cool!

Thanks for such a comprehensive and informative reply, Susep14. I'll contact Iceland first thing in the morning to find out if they would transfer our bags to our United flight - I had no idea that there was even the possibility of such an arrangement between airlines. Do you know if there is any way I can establish which terminal the onward flight will be leaving from, other than phoning UA? Thanks again.

Your flight to Orlando will leave from Terminal C. Even if you can get your bags tagged through to Orlando you will still have to claim them to go through US Customs.

Thanks Zap. If I can't get the baggage tagged through to MCO, should I be able to get through passport check on arrival at TB, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance, re-check-in bags and get to the boarding gate in TC in under 2 hours ? It sounds like a lengthy procedure.

It's doable but it will be tough.

  • Can we make it
    Oct 2, 2014

Arriving to Frankfurt from Budapest to gate 1-A Plus with a connecting flight from Z54 to Dulles. Only have a 45minute layover. Think we can make it?

Frankfurt Airport has 2 main terminals T1 & T2. T1 has Piers/ Concourses B & C (with T1B, T1C gates) with a separate Satellite Pier T1A - strictly used for U.S. Arrivals on level 1 (A gates) and US departures on level 2 (Z gates). Depending on your airline, you may arrive at either at T1-B, T1C, T2D or T2E - (i.e., if arriving at T2E, your arrivals gate could be one of the E2 - E26 gates). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/fra, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS (left) & scroll down to the detailed text, paying attention to 'Transferring to another Flight/ Terminal' & 'TERMINAL DETAILS'. Yes you can make it in 45 mins.

Thanks sunset for not answering the question at all! Like so many, I too would like to know about this terminal 1a plus bus not how to look at another website. BTW there is no where that tells you that you will land @ 5 miles from the terminal and have to take said bus to who knows where! I face the same situation tomorrow and plan to post real usable details as soon as I experience this situation! Hope a budapest made it!

1A+ is not a gate its part of terminal 1, z54 is a gate in a+. (A+ is the long building for longhaul flights)

  • a connection through LAX
    Sep 28, 2014

I will arrive at LAX at 2.10pm coming from Abu Dhabi in terminal B.we are a family of four and this is our first trip to USA as immigrants .then we have connection by terminal 4 to SMF at 4.50pm .Is it enough time ?and do we need to claim our baggage in LAX at first ...thanks

    I purchased my tickets together

LAX does not have a Terminal B. You will arrive at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. When you arrive you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then follow the sign for connecting passengers to the baggage re-check desks. Then you will exit the TBIT, walk to the right, the next building you come to will be Terminal 4. You will go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • From Term A to TerB ticket counter, need to go through Security first?
    Sep 28, 2014
    1
I have 1:20 from arrival in Term A, gate 17-19 to get to my United flight in Term B. I need to check 2 bags and get boarding passes at Untied in Term B. Do I really need to go through Security before I check my bags at the Untied ticket counter? Basically, is this enough time?

What airline are you flying into Terminal A? United has a check in counter at Terminal A. You can probably use that. Then you will go back through security in Terminal A and then take the TerminaLink train to Terminal B (if that is actually where you are departing).

  • Arriving from Canada going on to Manzanillo, Mexico
    Sep 30, 2014
    2
My flight from Canada arrives LAX 08:49am at Terminal 6 and my onward flight to Manzanillo Mexico is from Terminal 5 at 10:05am - only 1:16 hrs later. Do I have enough time??

Did you buy separate tickets or did you buy your tickets together? If you purchased tickets together and where you are coming from in Canada has US Immigration Immigration pre-clearance, yes, you will have enough time. If you purchased separate tickets or are coming from somewhere without pre-clearance it will be very difficult for you to make your transfer. T5 and T6 are connected inside security by a tunnel.

Many thanks for your good input. I did get my tickets together from Delta, and I think I can get pre-clearance in Canada. You've put my mind at ease!

  • Transfer from T8 to T5 with separate tickets
    Sep 27, 2014
    1
Hi, arriving from Helsinki to JFK T8 with Finnair at 3:50pm and have a connection to TPA with JetBlue, apparently from T5, at 7:36pm. I'm a Finnish citizen, tickets are bought separately and I am travelling with a cabin pet (dog). Do I still have enough transfer time with immigration, customs etc and time to take my dog to a pet relief area ? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • FLYING FROM LEXINGTON KY VIA DALLAS TO LONNDON

HOW DO I TRANSFER FROM TERMINAL B TO TERMINAL D AT DALLAS AIRPORT AND HOW LONG SHOULD THE TRANSFER TAKE THANKS!

The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security. It should take less than 15 minutes to get from B to D.

  • How to go to T2 from T1
    Sep 27, 2014
    2
I'm arriving at T1 from Malaysia, I need to catch next flight at T2 to London. I just have one hand luggage and no baggage to collect. Do i need to go through passport control? How do i go from T1 to T2? How long it would take? I just have 90minutes

Yes, you will have to go through passport control, then take the CDGVAL to Terminal 2. I don't know how long it will take. If you have to check in separately for your flight to London you may get to T2 too late for that.

I just bring one hand luggage and i don't have to go to counter to check-in for flight to go to London. I will doing it online and i just have to go straightly to terminal 2 after passport control. I don't have baggage to check-in. Is it possible?

    No, you do not.

  • Making a connecting flight within terminal C
    Sep 26, 2014
    1
Please help! I'm beginning to worry about the time it will take to to make my connecting flight. I arrive from BHX into EWR 11.55 on a United Airlines flight landing in Terminal C. My connecting flight leaves EWR from Terminal C at 13.29. It has been sold to me as a legal connection.... will I get through all the checks in time? Also what is the procedure that I need to go through? Is everything signposted? Will I have time to ask for help if I need it? I could really do with a to do list with locations and approx timings!!! Thanks.

Yes, that is a legal connection. The first part is very simple. You will arrive and be funneled towards US Immigration, then you will claim your baggage then go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage. Then you will go up to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate.

  • Connection to San Jose, Costa Rica
    Sep 26, 2014

Is 45 min enough time to transfer from a United from Denver - San Jose, Costa Rica

Yes, if your first flight is on-time. You will arrive in Terminal C or E and depart from Terminal E, which is directly connected to C.

    Thank you for your response

  • International Arrival @ EWR to BNA: 75 minutes?
    Sep 27, 2014
    3
United just changed my Dec. 18 connecting flight to Nashville to an earlier time, making what had been an almost 3 hour layover an hour and 15 minutes. We are coming in from Germany. I called and they assured that 1 hour is the minimum to get through customs and take care of luggage. I am not so hopeful and do not want to spend the night at their airport. I'd rather be with my family, much further South. Any thoughts or recommendations?

#2 under "getting around on the terminal map page tells international arrivals "To get to your connecting flight, take the Airtrain which serves all pre-security areas of all terminals." (http://www.ifly.com/newark-liberty-international/terminal-map) Pre-security? Does that mean we would have to go through security again? That's going to take some time.

Upon arrival at Terminal B or C, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags with United. Then if you arrived in a terminal different from your departure terminal, you will take the airtrain to your departure terminal, then you will go through security. Your flight to Nashville will likely depart from Terminal A. 75 minutes is not enough for your transfer and the agent who told you that is flat out wrong. Call again and demand to be rebooked over a different hub, such as Chicago or Washington DC.

Thank you. That's exactly what I thought, too.

  • Getting a Little Nervous about the Time Frame!
    Sep 26, 2014
    2
My family is arriving at terminal 2 from Buffalo at 7:30 with a connecting flight from the same terminal at 8:10. Both flights were booked through Delta, but the first is operated by Endeavor Air. Will our Luggage be transferred by the airline? I have always flown direct before. As the boarding time is the same as my landing time I am concerned.

Yes, the airline will transfer the luggage. Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

    Thanks!

  • 1hr transition at JFK from T8 to T7
    Sep 26, 2014
    2
We have a 1hr layover at JFK to transition from T8 to T7. We will be transitioning from a domestic flight, American Airlines, to an international flight, Iberian airlines, heading to Madrid. Has anyone experienced something similar. Any suggestions/tips.

That should be enough time. Your bags will be checked through to Madrid. All you have to do is take the AirTrain from T8 to T7, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

    Thank you

  • LGA --> IAD --> SAN on United Airlines
    Sep 25, 2014
    2
Can someone help: What terminal does United Airlines usually use flying from LGA --> IAD --> SAN? There's a 1h18 stopover, and the passenger has speaks very limited English. We want to prepare ahead of time as much as possible. Any comments would be helpful.

IAD only has one terminal. LGA-IAD will arrive at Concourse A if it's an ERJ-145 or CRJ-200 and will arrive at Concourse C or D if it's a CRJ-700. C/D is connected to A by the mobile lounge and aerotrain. The SAN flight will depart from C or D.

The technical specs you share give me confidence that you know what you're talking about - thank you for your response. Staying in the same terminal makes it immeasurably easier, a relief.
