Arriving UNITED AIRLINES 804 from NRT. Connecting UA 3726 for IND. Which terminal will I be arriving at, and which terminal will I be departing from? Is 1 hour 30 minutes enough to connect? Thanks

You will arrive in C or D and depart from C or D as well (likely D). You will have plenty of time.

    Thank you very much.

I am arriving at 3:15 from Cairo Egypt Air, so I assume T4. I have an AA connecting flight at 5:15 from, I assume, T8. Is this enough time to clear customs and get to T8?

It should be enough time. You take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train between terminals.

  • Transit between terminals?

Hi, I am travelling from Rome to New York next Monday. It's a Delta flight operated by Alitalia, and on my ticket reservation it says it will arrive at terminal 1 at JFK. On the same ticket, I have a connection to Montreal on another Delta flight, from terminal 2. The layover time is 2hr45min. can somebody confirm that terminal 1 and terminal 2 are indeed the terminals Delta uses for their flights from Rome, and to Montreal, respectively? How do I transit from terminal 1 to terminal 2? Thank you so much for your response!

Alitalia uses Terminal 1. The Delta Connection flight to Montreal will depart from Terminal 2. You use the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to go between terminals.

Thank you so much ZAP. Your response is very useful Do I have to claim my luggage, and clear customs at JFK, before I board my next plane, to Canada? Both flights were bought on the same reservation.

Yes, you will have to do all that.

Can I re-check my luggage at the Delta Counter at Terminal 1, before i take the AirTran to Terminal 2? Where is it located?

If your bags are all checked through then you probably can use the re-check counter in Terminal 1. The Airtrain is located above the curbside of the terminals. There will be signs that direct you to it.

  • where do I go? Is it enough time?

I arrive at Newark from Spain at 2:15PM in terminal B and I have a connecting flight in Terminal C at 4PM, both with United. I will have to go through customs and all that and switch terminals and go through security again, is that enough time? I also do not know where the airtrain is located, can anyone tell me what it is near or how to get there from the gates in Terminal B? Finally, if I do miss my flight, what will happen? I'm very worried I'm going to miss my flight!

It should be enough time. The Airtrain is fairly obvious and operates on the non-secure side. I you miss your connection you will be rebooked on a later flight to your destination, if there is one. If so you will be rebooked the next day.

  • Where is the Airtrain

Hello, I will be arriving at Terminal B and need to get to Terminal C without much time. Can you tell me what gate number the airtrain is near to or anything like that? From the gate that I arrive at, will I need to go up or down any escalators or anything to get on the airtrain? Thank you!

The Airtrain does not operate on the secure side, so it is not near "gates". However, United does operate a secure side shuttle from the base of the B3 satellite to near C71. http://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/airport/maps/ewr.aspx

do you think it would be faster to take the shuttle than the airtrain?

If your arrival in Terminal B is domestic, the shuttle. If your arrival is international and you'll have to go through security again anyway, take the AirTrain.

  • Connecting Flight - enough time?

I'm flying from Bari to Rome on Alitalia arriving at 7:55am. My departing flight to JFK on AA is now at 9:50am (moved up from 11:40am). I need to check a bag. Will I be able to make this connection?

Just realized that I arrive in Terminal 1 and my departing flight is out of Terminal 5 - so I assume I need to take a bus? Is that the quickest option?

Yes, that's your only option. If your first flight is on-time you should be OK.

Thank you.. I was checking and today the AA flight departed from Terminal 3 (not 5). Maybe they arrive in 5 & depart from 3. So I'm hoping that is the case when we leave.

It's the other way around - you have to go to Terminal 5 to go through security. Then you are bussed to Terminal 3 where the aircraft is. When you arrive you are processed in terminal 3. Read this: http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/where-to-meet-at-fco

Ticket states terminal 1. Is that a concourse?

CLT has only one terminal with Concourses A - E; I suggest you open www.ifly.com/clt then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'MAPS & DIRECTIONS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • Connecting to Croatia Airlines

Hi. We only have 50 minutes to change from our flight on American Airlines to get to Croatia Airlines. Is this possible?

Your first concern is to find out whether American is transferring bags to Croatia airline flight; if not you need to claim your bags & re-check them in with Croatia. On arrival you go through passport check at Area A. Croatia is most likely at Terminal 1, Concourse A. 50 mins. is very tight.

How do you get from the metrolink station to the terminal

It depends what airline you are taking. There is an Lambert-East stop that you use if you are flying Southwest or Airtran and a Lambert-Main stop that you use if you are taking another airline. Both are located very close to their respective terminals.

  • First time in Europe - Surprising my boys!

I am arriving on AA in Terminal 5 and am surprising my boys and meeting them off their Iberia/Vueling flight which lands in Terminal 3. Where can I meet them so it will be a total surprise without having to call them? Also, what should I do with a 5 hour layover?

Actually, no flights arrive in Terminal 5 - it is departures only. You will arrive in Terminal 3. I think you will probably have a hard time finding them without having a meeting place. Terminal 3 is a big place. Here is a good writeup - http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/where-to-meet-at-fco

Hello,my family (hubby,myself,1 kid) are flying july 4, 2013 from IAH-HKG, connecting @ ORD, but only 48 min connection time between ORD to HKG. We are flying United. Is this enough time coming from domestic to international? Not sure what gates will be used. Thanks for the input!

Both gates will be in Terminal 1. If your first flight is on-time you will have enough time.

  • Montreal-DTW-NRT

I will be flying from Montreal YUL to Taipei TPE with two transfers in DTW and NRT at the end of July. I'm flying Delta, but for the YUL-DTW flight, I can choose between Chautauqua or Pinnacle, departing 2 hours apart. It will then be a Delta 747 flight to Tokyo. My questions are: 1. Will I be arriving at the same terminal, whether I choose Chautauqua or Pinnacle? 2. Where do I need to go next to catch my flight to Tokyo? 3. Do I have to get my bags and check them in again or will they be transfered until I reach Taipei if all flights are booked through Delta? 4. Will I have to go through customs in Detroit or will I be going through them in Montreal? 5. I'll either have 2h30 or 4h30 layover depending on the time I leave YUL. Is 2h30 enough? 4h30 seems too much. Thanks for your help. This will be my first International flight.

Yes, the Chautauqua and Pinnacle flights are both Delta Connection and both will arrive in the same part of the McNamara Terminal (the B or C concourse). Your Tokyo flight will depart from the center of the A concourse in the McNamara terminal. There's a short underground tunnel between the two concourses. You will preclear US Immigration in Montreal. You will not have to touch your baggage after that until you get to Taipei. 2:30 should be enough time.

Wow! That was fast! Thank you so much :)

I cannot tell you where either Chautauqua or Pinnacle will arrive at Detroit Metro Airport - it could be at the McNamara Terminal, which has Concourses A, B & C (with corresponding gate numbers), or at the North Terminal, which has D gates. If Arriving at North Terminal, you would need to take the shuttle bus running every 10 mins and taking about 7 mins. Find out whether either of the two airlines will transfer bags to your Delta connection at McNamara Terminal; if not, you need to take your bag & check it in with Delta before proceeding to go through security check and on to your gate. You will arrive at DTW as a domestic arrival, as you will go through U.S. customs clearance in Montreal. 2.5 hrs should suffice. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dtw, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'MAPS & DIRECTIONS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Disregard anything FRJUn said about the north terminal - your flights will all be in the McNamara terminal.

One last thing concerning that flight. I booked it this morning and before I booked, they were asking on Delta's website that I choose 3 seats, one YUL-DTW, one DTW-NRT and one in NRT-TPE. However, when I proceeded with the booking, they only made me choose a seat in YUL and in DTW. It's Delta 275 from DTW-NRT and NRT-TPE. Should I assume that I will be staying on the plane during the 90 minute layover in NRT before heading to TPE? I've been reading other comments on websites about such situations and some people say that you stay on the plane and are allowed to change seats after everyone who stays in NRT has gotten off. Other say that with 90 minute layover, the crew might ask us to get off the plane and stay in the terminal to come back after they cleaned up. Is there a chance that I will be changing planes even if they only made me choose one seat? Any chance they will ask us to stay on the plane for a 90 min layover? Are we really allowed to change seats? What about the people who get on the plane, didn't they have reservations made? I'm confused. Thanks for your help!

You may either stay on the plane or get off the plane and stay in the gate area. There's a slight chance they might have to swap you to a different plane because of a mechanical problem - in that case they would either use another plane of the same type and your seat would remain the same, or if they had to swap in a different type, they would give you a new seat assignment. People say that you can move seats because the NRT-TPE flight is not usually very full.

  • Security check from Terminal 8 to 7
    Jun 21, 2013

I am arriving in Terminal 8 (AA) and I need to get to Terminal 7 to catch a (United) flight. I have about 50mins. Can I walk? Do I have to clear security when I enter Terminal 7? I will not have any checked bags.

It's not feasible to walk between the terminals. You need to take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train one stop over to T7. Yes, you will have to go through security again. You'll have to hurry. Make sure you check in for your United flight online before you leave on your American flight. If you wait until you get to T7, you will have missed the check-in cutoff.

I'm flying into ORD on Saturday morning. I need to get to terminal 2 for my connection. How long will it take us to get there? I'm in a wheelchair and we are working with an hour and half connection time

With the wheelchair assistance it should take about 20-30 minutes.
