  • Arriving from LHR on BA and connecting with Delta to Charleston
    Nov 26, 2013

Hi, I will be traveling from London via JFK in early December. My flight from London is with BA arriving at 2:25 pm and I will be connecting with Delta at 6:30 pm. The tickets were purchased separately. I would greatly appreciate any information as to how to best make the connection and if I have enough time to do so. Thank you so much.

You will arrive in Terminal 7 where you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, and go through US Customs. You will then have to take your baggage on the JFK AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 2 where you will check-in with Delta and go through security. You should have plenty of time.

    Great! Thank you.

  • Connecting flight at Dallas

Hi - my son travels from Sydney to Dallas on 29 Nov arr 1.45 Terminal D. He then departs for Charlotte NC on United Airlines 3071 at 15.54. What is procedure and does he have enough time to catch connecting flight?

Note that United does not fly from Dallas to Charlotte. His flight is actually US Airways flight 1954. Upon arrival in Dallas he will clear US immigration, claim his bags, and go through US Customs. If his bags are checked through to his US Airways flight he will then be able to re-check his bags at the re-check desk in Terminal D. If he already has his US Airways boarding pass (he can possibly print it out before departure from Sydney) he then can go through security in Terminal D and then take the Skylink train to Terminal E. If he can't get his US Airways boarding pass for whatever reason until he gets to Dallas or if his bags aren't tagged through to Charlotte in Sydney, he will have to take the Terminal Link shuttle van from Terminal D to Terminal E and then check-in with US Airways.

LEAVING ON DELTA FLIGHT 4913 FROM MSP ON DEC 12. WHAT GATE WILL WE BE DEPARTING FROM?

You won't know the exact gate until the day of your departure, but all Delta flights leave from the Lindbergh Terminal.

Hi, I'm travelling from Phoenix to London via Chicago on 15 Dec. My flight from Phoenix arrives in Terminal 3 and departs to London from Terminal 5. What are my options for change of terminal? Also do I have to go through check-in process and security check again? Please advise. Thanks

What airlines are you flying? If your tickets were bought on the same itinerary your bags should be able to be checked through to London (although that may depend on the airlines you are flying). If you are flying in on AA and out on BA then American runs a shuttle bus that runs inside the secure area from T3 to T5. However, you will have to show your BA boarding pass to board the shuttle. If you give me more information I can help you more.

Hi, thanks for the info. I'm flying out on American Airlines fro Phoenix to Chicago and the flying out by BA. Will I get the boarding pass for BA flight at the Phoenix airport? Also will AA check-in the baggage all the way to London? Thanks

Yes, American should be able to check your bags through to London and issue you your BA boarding pass in Phoenix. I'm trying to find a map that shows the shuttle bus but I can't find one, only mention I can find of it is an older flyertalk thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-aadvantage/1254976-ord-airside-connection-t3-aa-ba-t3-t5.html . If you have trouble finding the shuttle or don't want to wait 30 minutes for it, you can also take the ATS Train, but doing so requires that you go back through security in T5.

arrive DFW terminal A; leave American Eagle to Lubbock. Unable to locate correct terminal and gate.

Your flight to Lubbock will most likely depart from B. All terminals at DFW are connected inside security via the skylink train.

flying with UA from SFO to EWR and have 90 minutes to catch the flight to Ireland (Also UA) will I have to collect my bags and recheck them? Will I also have to go through security there again? Is this enough time?

No, all you will have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be in Terminal C and connected beyond security.

  • SCE to IAD and IAD to DXB connection

Hello, I am arriving at IAD from SCE at 7.15AM (united airlines) on November 28th. My connecting flight to DXB (emirates) is at 10.10 AM. I believe I have enough time to make the connection. Could you please explain from where to where will I have to move in airport and how much time it would take to move?

If your tickets were bought on one reservation your bags can be checked through to Emirates in State College and you can just go from your arrival gate in A to departure gate also in A. If not, you need to go to the main terminal baggage claim, take your bags upstairs to the departure level, and then re-check them with Emirates. You should have enough time.

I appreciate your quick response. Thank You.

I'll be travelling on January 2 from Copenhagen with SAS and connecting to Des Moins in about 3 hours, the ticket says also with SAS (Scandinavian airlines). Am I correct that I'll arrive at Terminal 5 and the flight to Des Moins departs from Terminal 1, which will mean that I'll have to receive and recheck my luggage at ORD? Where it is done best - at T5 or at T1? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 5 where you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US customs, and then you can re-check your baggage there (assuming all your flights were bought on the same reservation). Then you will take the ATS Train to T1 or T2 (your flight to Des Moines could leave from either, check the monitors before you leave T5).

Thank you for such a quick reply!

I'm looking at flying United from Regina to San Antonio with connectiion in Denver - just wondering how much time is needed in Denver to clear US immigration and make connection

Probably about 60-90 minutes is enough connection time. There aren't many International flights at Denver so it probably shouldn't take too long.

Im coming from Moncton ( Canada) no pre clearance at that airport. I need to catch my flight to Miami. What is the procedure to go throughout customs, will I have to go trough security again? Both flights are United, so I assume both flight will be from terminal C? I have 1h38minutes! Thanks!

To add, my flight from Moncton arrives at 7am on the 24th of december is this a busy time ?

Yes, since Moncton doesn't have pre-clearance you will arrive in Terminal C and go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, and re-check your bag, and then go through security. Things shouldn't be TOO crowded on Christmas eve as most people will already be at their destination. You will have to hurry but you should have enough time. Your departing flight will also leave from Terminal C.

Is it a far distance to walk? One of the traveller isn't a fast walker because she has trouble with her feet.

It shouldn't be too bad of a walk since everything is in the same terminal. But if you're worried you can request wheelchair service from United by calling them before your trip.

  • transfer time

We have 2 hour and 15 minute transfer time for our flight from Panama via Houston to Amsterdam. Both flights are opperated by United (both from E terminal). We are very worried about comments and complains regarding the long lines at immigration. We cannot change our flight. Is 2 hours and 15 minutes enough transfertime? Does the airline offers us a later flight in case we would not be able to make it on time?

2 hrs 15 mins should be enough time. There is no later flight from Houston to Amsterdam. If you miss your connection they will either rebook you through another European hub where they may have a later flight or book you on the flight the next day. But again, you should have enough time.

i have 40 minutes to get from a domestic flight with united into newark to an international flight to edinburgh I have a toddler will I make it? and where do I go?

Your domestic arrival can be at A or C, and your departure will be from C. You will have to hope your first flight is on-time and move as quickly as possible.

I'll be flying from Edmonton to Paris, France, and connection time at ORD is only 1 hour and 5 minutes. Both are United Airlines flights. Is that doable? Will I pre-clear US immigration in Edmonton? Do I have to re-check my bags at ORD? What about the terminals? Thanks for your help!

You will pre-clear US immigration in Edmonton. What airlines are you flying? If all your flights are on United you will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Terminal 1, which are connected beyond security, so all you'll have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Yea, they're all on United. Should be easy then. Thanks a lot!

  • Is there a TERMINAL 3 at MSP. My itinerary states there is?

I drop granddaughter off at term 1 (Spirit Airlines Flt. 614) and pick her up 3 days later at terminal 3 (spirit Airlines Flt. 761). Where is Terminal 3?

Spirit uses the Humphrey Terminal 2 (H gates) at MSP (located at is located at 7150 Humphrey Drive (Zip Code: 55450). Meet her in the baggage claim area of level 1 or use the Cell Phone Lot. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/msp, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.
