  • Terminal A to terminal E

We are arriving in terminal a and have a connecting flight to Peru, which I'm assuming will be out of terminal e, our time frame is 1 hour 11 minutes, can we make it?

What airline is your inbound flight on? Yes, your flight to Peru will be from Terminal E. If you don't have to claim any baggage and transfer it yourself you should have enough time if your flight is on-time. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals beyond security.

We are arriving from PHX on United and I thought it was terminal A we arrived on, but double check the arrival gate.

United flights from PHX mostly arrive in Terminal C. US Airways flights from PHX would arrive in Terminal A.

arriving at 9 40 am from msp 9/9.american going to shangghai American at 10 35. Are the gates next to each other? WHy did cheap o air allow such limited times? will this work?

Both flights will likely be in the H/K concourse of Terminal 3. If your first flight is on-time you will have enough time.

  • Best place to meet between two terminals

Hi, My sister and I will be travelling on same day. She is taking Sun Country where as I would be taking Delta. Both of them land on different terminals. Delta will land on Terminal 1 where as Sun Country will land on Terminal 2. Can I take light rail and go to terminal 2 and her gate. I dont think I can go and receive her at gate as I will have to go through security. Should see come to baggage. Will I be able to meet her at baggage via light rails if she comes down there. She is new to US and won have phone.

No, you cannot go to her gate. The best place to meet her is at the Humphrey Terminal Sun Country baggage claim.

Connecting CLT for international flight - must I go through security there since with only one terminal I will be arriving and departing without going outside the security checkpoint. Never been thru CLT. Thanks for replies

Yes, any time you come from another country and go through US immigration you have to go back through security afterwards.

  • Connecting at JFK

I have a flight arriving with Delta at JFK on December 18 at 3:08PM and leaving with Delta at 4:25PM for an international flight to Paris, would I have enough time to connect?

Where are you flying into JFK from? Some Delta flights arrive Terminal 2 and some arrive Terminal 4. If you arrive in Terminal 2 you have to take Delta's shuttle bus between the terminals (which runs inside security). Your flight to Paris will depart from Terminal 4 if it is operated by Delta. However, it appears to me that the 4:25 PM flight is operated by Air France, not Delta, and thus would depart from Terminal 1. If you post your flight numbers and originating airport I can help you more.

Hi, I'm going to arrive on an international flight from Amsterdam, at 1:00 pm on a saturday on terminal 4, and I need to catch a domestic flight to LAX from the same terminal (Virgin). Is a 4:55 p.m. takeoff time reasonable? Can I clear customs, get my bag, check it in to Virgin and be at the gate before 4:55 pm, seeing how I'm not a US citizen and last year the customs line was ~2 hours long? Thank you!

Yes, that should be enough time. Things are a tad better in T4 now and even if it does take 2 hours, that still leaves you almost another 2 hours.

Thank you very much! Now I can worry about the other parts of my journey :D Cheers!

  • Connecting Flight in Same Terminal

Noob traveler - I'm flying into LGA from IND. My Itinierary shows arrival and departure from same Terminal D. It looks like arrivals to Terminal D need to go thru security to reach departure area of Terminal D. Is this correct. I really don't want to mess with security as I don't want to get delayed.

Terminal D is for Delta Connection only - with gates D1-11 - just walk over to your connecting gate.

No, that is incorrect, you don't have to go through security to make a connection within Terminal D.

Is there a way to get from terminal three to terminal one without leaving security area.

You should be able to take the train from the T3 to the D gates and then the D-gates to T1. However, arriving in T1 on the train may force you into the baggage claim, in which case you would have to go back through security. I don't remember if there's an option once you arrive on the train in T1 to remain in the secure area.

Where do you pick up the terminal Link to connect to the United Terminals inside security

There's numerous in-terminal signs. The exact location differs by terminal (which you didn't mention).

well I am not sure which terminal I will be flying into or leaving from any chance you could tell me each? I am flying in from Tucson, AZ and going to Cleveland on United

Your flight from Tucson will arrive in Terminal B and your flight to Cleveland will depart from Terminal B if it is United Express and Terminal C if it is regular United.

  • 1h 35m connection time

Hi, I arrive in Terminal 5 from London (LHR) with British Airways at 06.05 p.m. I connect through Terminal 2 to San Francisco (SFO) with American Airlines at 7.40 p.m. I need to take and recheck the checked baggage at Terminal 5? If I have only the hand luggage It is a way to safe time at immigration? Both flights are booked on one ticket with British Airways. Is 1 hour 35 minutes enough? What will it happen if I miss the flight to SFO since that it is the last flight of the day? Thanks in advance!

Your flight to San Francisco will be from Terminal 3, not Terminal 2. You will be able to re-check checked baggage in Terminal 5. Yes, not having checked baggage will save you time. If you miss your flight they may be able to re-book you on the United flight at 9 PM, but I wouldn't count on it. However, if your flight is on-time and you hurry you should be OK.

  • Enough time from from Cancun?
    Sep 5, 2013

I fly from Cancun in Mexico to Frankfurt, I arrive in terminal E and have to go to terminal C. I have only 1 hour and 20 minutes between my flights. Is that enough? Do I have to go through security? Will I have time? Please advise. Thank you!!!

You will not depart from Terminal C. If your flight to Frankfurt is on Lufthansa it will be in Terminal D and if it is on United it will be in Terminal E. When you arrive, you will have to go through immigration, claim your bags, go through customs, re-check them, go back up to the ticketing level, and go back through security. You will be very hard-pressed to do that in that time.

Hi, according to my ticket I arrive in terminal E with United Airlines at 17:25 and I leave again with United Airlines to Frankfurt from terminal C at 18:45. But anyway do you think it is difficult to make it on time?

United international departures are from Terminal E. So both of your flights will be in the same terminal. However, you will still have to go back through security before you go to your gate. I think you will probably have enough time if your first flight is on-time but you'll really have to hurry.

  • 1 hour 40 minute connection time

I arrive in Terminal 5 from Thunder Bay (YQT) at 6.31 a.m. I connect through Terminal 1 to Las Vegas (LAS) at 8.11 a.m. I'll need to clear customs in Terminal 5 and transfer to Terminal 1. Both flights are booked on one ticket with United. Is 1 hour 40 minutes cutting it a little too close? Would I be better to just opt for a later connection in Chicago? I assume United will book me on a later flight if I try the short connection and don't make it.

You should be fine. Immigration is empty that early in the morning (all there is at that time is the Sao Paulo flights). Yes, if you don't make it United will book you on a later flight. Also, the security checkpoint to the far left of Terminal 1 (right next to terminal 2) usually has the shortest lines.

  • Terminal one, baggage claim and then to TBIT

I would appreciate advice: I fly into Term. 1 on SW Air. Must go to baggage claim, then go check in at TBIT for Cathay Air. I have three hours. It sounds like I should take the A Shuttle. Do I have plenty of time?? THX

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You can take the shuttle on the lower level or it's about a 20 minute walk.

    Thank you, ZAP!!!

  • United Schedule Change gives us only 37 min to transfer.
    Sep 4, 2013

Hi, we are flying with United from Seattle to Cleveland via Chicago on Sept 05. United recently changed our schedule allowing only 37 min to transfer in Chicago. Don't know our gates yet, but we are arriving on UA 278 and departing on UA 5198. This is our first time to Chicago airport, but I have found that United can be Terminal 1 or 2. Do you know if we will be arriving and departing from the same terminal?

You will arrive in Terminal 1. Your departure could be from Terminal 1 or 2. However, Terminal 1 and 2 are connected beyond security and the worst case walk is about 15-20 minutes. Also, United has almost hourly flights from Chicago to Cleveland so if you do miss your connection you have ample opportunities for rebooking.
