  • walk from Terminal 3 to rental car garage?
    Nov 4, 2013
Is it not too far to walk from Terminal 3 to rental car garage? They make it kind of easy to pass through parking garages, yes?

It's not as close as it looks and the route isn't really built for walking. I'd take the shuttle. If you really want to walk, the easiest way is probably actually to walk around the curbfront to T1 and then across to the rental car center.

Metrolink has separate stations for the two terminals. You would get off at the Terminal 1 station. It would probably be about a 10 minute walk from the station to security. Then any time to get to the gate would be the time spent waiting in the security line. You should be OK if you don't have any checked baggage and you check in online before your flight. If you have to check bags I would look for a way to get to the airport sooner.

  • 1 hour Connection at EWR T-C to T-A
    Nov 4, 2013
Arriving on UA at EWR from PIT at Terminal C. Have 1 hour to make it to Terminal A for flight to YOW (also UA). Will UA forward checked bags all the way to YOW or do I have to go through security again at Term A? Is there enough time to get from T-C to T-A?

United will forward checked bags to YOW and if you do have to change terminals (your flight from PIT may actually arrive in T-A as well) you can take the United secure-side shuttle bus and not have to go through security when you change terminals. If your first flight is on-time you should be OK

  • 45minutes to coonect flight
    Nov 12, 2013
My flight details. Depart LGA 10.10am Arrive IAD 11.35am. Operated by Expressjet. Connection in Washington DC 45 mins Depart IAD 12.20pm How do I connect within the 45minutes? I will be flying via United Airlines all the way.

You just go from gate to Gate in IAD. You will arrive in Concourse A. Your departing flight will be in A, C, or D. What is your second flight?

Appreciates your prompt reply. Flying in from LGA.Flight no UA5736. Connecting UA flight no 0803. depart IAD 12.20pm on Sat 25 January 2014. Can I check in my luggage all the way from LGA to SIN? Thank you

Your second flight will leave from the C concourse at IAD. Yes, your bags will be checked straight through to SIN at LGA and you won't have to touch them until you get there.

Thanks once again. Here is another concern, do I have to go passport check, custom clearance again? Also how much is needed for concourse A to concourse C via aero train?

The only time you will have to go through immigration is when you get to Singapore. A and C in IAD are connected beyond security. You won't have to go through any formalities in IAD.

  • im in transit for 3 hours from air canada to american airlines
    Nov 3, 2013
IM nerver been in JFK and I go whit my daughter of 3 years ,please help. I read that is terminal 7 to terminal 8

Yes, Air Canada Express operates into Terminal 7 and American operates from Terminal 8. You should have plenty of time.

  • Checking baggage
    Nov 3, 2013
Arriving from LIMA with TAM Airlines at 7:25 AM ( TB terminal) and departing at 9:55 AM to Vancouver from Terminal 6 with ALASKA Airlines. Do I need to have to clear custom and immigration (not US citizen), claim baggage in TBIT or do it again in T4. The flights are on one E-ticket. Thanks Don

On arrival at LAX, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (your bags will then automatically be transferred. Thereafter, you need to exit the terminal and either walk (to the right, passing Terminal 4 & 5 to T6 (taking approx. 15 mins.) - or take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. (taking approx. 10 mins) - either way, you will need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. No time to waste!

  • can i make it?
    Nov 3, 2013
flight schedule changed a bit. can i arrive at 6 am gate S3 and make connection at B7 in 30 minutes?

No way! The South Satellite (S gates) are for international arrivals, where you need to go through customs procedure first, then take the underground loop train to your connecting Concourse B (B gates). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/sea, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

ignore Sunov - there are also domestic flights in S. However, it is still a very difficult connection.

  • Enough time to connecting Delta flight to Honolulu at LAX
    Nov 4, 2013
Layover 1H 25M. Departing from MIA at 10:35am to LAX at 1:30pm with AA. Then connecting flight from LAX at 2:55pm to HNL with Delta Air line. Please advise. Much appreciated!

    1. AA uses Terminals 3 & 4 at LAX, while DL uses Terminal 5. While you are able to connect between Terminals 4 & 5 - you would need to exit Terminal 3 and walk, or take bus over to T5 (T3 & T4 are on either side of the large Bradley Terminal. NOTE: if you did not book both of your flights on one ticket, you would need, on arrival, pick up bag and re-check it in at T5 (AA & DL don't belong to the same airline alliance. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/lax, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Thank you very much for your helpful input sunov13 but is there enough time? How long is the walk? Is it quicker to take the bus to T5 to re-check?

It's usually faster to walk than to take the shuttle bus. It's less than a 10 minute walk.

Thank you very much ZAP. So we should have enough time right?

  • LH FRA to IAD to IAH Connection Time
    Nov 17, 2013
I'm flying on LH418 from FRA to IAD on Saturday Nov 9th arriving at 3:20p, then connecting at 5:05p on UA1577 from IAD to IAH. Is this enough time? I'm flying business class on the LH flight and will have one carryon and one checked bag. Thanks!

International arrivals at IAD are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance, where you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated. As United uses A, B, C & D gates at IAD - look at overhead screens to find your connecting flight & gate number. While A/B gates can be reached by walkway, C gates will need a transfer via AeroTrain. If your connection is at D gates (Midfield Concourse C/D) you cannot use the AeroTrain, but need to take the Mobile Lounge shuttle at Main Terminal's lower level to gates D1-32. Your transfer time should suffice.

UA1577 will depart from the C or D concourse, which you will reach using the AeroTrain or mobile lounge after re-checking your bags and going through security in the main terminal.

Just an update. The LH flight I was on arrived 20 minutes late into IAD. When we arrived into immigration there had to have been 600 people in the room being served by 8 immigration officers. After chatting with many people in line, if you had a flight with the next 2 hours you were going to miss it. What I didn't realize was after immigration and bag claim was how slow the TSA bag screening would be. I was being scanned through when my United App told me my flight had just taken off. Ugh! I will never fly into IAD again from across the pond and have a connecting flight. It was embarrassing how slow the immigration and TSA were working.

  • LAX Terminal 3 Shutdown
    Nov 1, 2013
Understand that Terminal 3 is shutdown for a shooting incident. Is the rest of the airport open for arrivals and departures?

It appears that things are getting back to normal in the other terminals. United is showing most of their flights from 6/7/8 as operating on schedule or slightly delayed. However, the roadway appears to be closed so it would be hard to get into the airport right now.

  • gate B to E in 40 minutes?
    Nov 1, 2013
I'm being warned by TripIt that my connection is at risk. I am arriving at gate B at 9:55 and departing to NRT from IAH at 10:40 our of gate E. Is that doable or do I need to make a phone call?

You can make that connection via the TerminaLink train. However, if there is any delays at all it would be difficult to make that connection.

  • Lufthansa to United confused!
    Nov 3, 2013
Slightly confused about transferring flights at Dulles. Arriving with LH from Frankfurt at 15.20 connecting to SFO with UA at 17.35. My question is.....Do arriving LH passengers with connections travel from B gates on a mobile lounge to IAB at the main terminal building OR do they take you to terminal C and clear immigration and customs there?

You clear at the IAB - only flights that arrive in C use Concourse C Immigration.

    Thx for your help.....

Hi...still a little confused.... just read on another forum that United airlines and *A partners with connections will clear immigration at C concourse. For passengers "Terminating" and non *A airlines, they will clear at the IAB in the main terminal. Therefore I guess if I am arriving from LH and connecting to UA, I will clear immigration and customs at C concourse.

Well, either way, just follow the signs.

You are correct. Since you are arriving on LH, you will clear at the Concourse C FIS. Once customs clearance is complete, you connect your UAL connecting flight in either Concourse C or D. Should have enough time. Good luck!

  • denver to MSP flight??
    Oct 30, 2013
I'll be travelling on a Delta flight from Denver to Syracuse, making a 45 layover in MSP. Will this give me enough time to make my connecting flight?

If your first flight is on-time you should be OK. The MSP airport is large, but all the Delta gates are connected.
