  • New Immigrants Vancouver-Montreal

Hi! We are new immigrants from the Philippines and we will be landing in Vancouver to take our connecting flight to Montreal. The problem is we will be arriving at 15:15 and our plane for Montreal departs at 16:50 via Air Canada. Will there be enough time for us to go through customs and immigration and still catch our flight to Montreal or do we need to rebook our flight? It is our 1st time going to Canada and I would appreciate if you can shed some light on our problem. Best Regards!

    That should be enough time.

In june we will be flying from Minneapolis to Venice with change at AMS with only 55 minutes. We think that is too close for the connection. Is luggage checked clear through from MSP to Venice. Is 55 minutes calling it too close?

Yes, you won't have to claim your baggage in AMS. You should have enough time. AMS is made for close connections.

  • LAX layover

I am travelling from Sydney to Chicago with a layover in lax. I arrive into terminal B and the layover is just under 2 hours. I then depart for Chicago through terminal 7. Do I go through customs in lax or Chicago? And do I have to collect my luggage at all in LAX? I'm a bit nervous about whether 2 hours will be enough time.

You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. If you booked all your tickets on one reservation then follow the signs for connecting passengers and you can re-check your bags at the transfer desk. If you purchased two separate tickets you will have to RUN with your bags to Terminal 7 to check them with United in time.

I have a southwestern flight from denver arriving at 7:25pm and have to catch an air NZ flight that leaves at 9:45 pm. They are not connected flights so I'll have to collect luggage. I'm a NZ passport holder. Will I have to go through customs? Will I have enough time?

No, you will not go through Customs. There is no US Customs when departing the US. You just have to get your bags from the Southwest baggage claim and take them to the Air New Zealand counter in the International Terminal then go through security. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • ICN > SFO > ATL

I'm flying from ICN into SFO on Singapore Airlines and flying again from SFO to ATL on Delta and the tickets were purchased separate. I originally had 4 hours of layover in SFO but Delta has changed my flight (SFO > ATL) and now I only have 1.5 hours to make a connection. After going through immigration, customs and all that, do you think I can make the connection with two cases: if I have a checked luggage, or I only have a carry-on? I'm a green card holder if that makes any difference in the immigration line.

If you only have a carry-on then I think you can make it if you check-in online for your delta flight before leaving Seoul. If you need to check a bag you'll have to transfer it yourself and won't have enough time. You need to call delta and ask to be rebooked on a later flight. They will have to honor your request without a change fee since they changed your booking. If they cannot or will not then demand a refund and book a ticket on another airline.

Thanks! Looks like reducing my luggage into a single carry-on and having my eBoarding pass ready on iPhone before I leave Seoul is the best option. With the next flight I would have almost 10 hours of layover just on that day.

  • Terminal B

Taking an international flight from JFK to LAX via Qantas and arriving in Terminal B. Have a connecting flight also in terminal B with only 1 hour and 50 min. Flights are within the same itinerary. Do we need to go through customs/immigration or can we simply deboard our plane and walk to our next gate? Thanks in advance!

JFK and LAX are both located in the United states, thus, it is not an International flight. Assuming both flights are on Qantas, which if you are on the Qantas JFK-LAX flight it has to be, you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in LAX. There is no US Customs when departing the US.

  • 1h 15m Layover

Hello, I'm flying from Naples, IT to AMS and then on to the USA. Is a 1h 15m layover enough time? Will we need to claim and recheck bags? Thank you!

All you have to do is go through Schengen Exit passport control, walk to your departure gate, and go through security. Nothing with your bags. You should have enough time.

  • Layover time...

Hi! I am flying into DTW from a small airport (gate usually at the opposite end of terminal:() my layover is 30 min. Will they hold the connecting flight for me or is this enough time? Who do I speak with to find out...on flight stewards or in airport agent?

They generally do not hold flights for anybody. There is nobody who you can talk to. The only people who can hold a flight are the dispatcher (who is located in an office in Atlanta) or the gate agent of the flight you are boarding - and if you can talk to her you might as well actually get on the plane.

    So that isn't enough time?

It's enough time if your first flight is on-time or early and you run.

  • Switch from American to USAir

Flying in this Friday from San Jose, Costa Rica on American and flying out to BOS on USAir will we need to pick up luggage, clear customs, and switch terminals? We have 1.5 hour layover

Charlotte only has one terminal. Both of your flights will be operated by US Airways. You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Im looking at a flight plan where I have 1h and 35min connection in ORD, is this enough time to?

That is 5 minutes over the minimum connection time. You should make it, but if you do miss it because of a late flight from London, both American and United have lots of flights to LAX.

Do we pick up our luggage in Phoenix to clear customs before proceeding to the new gate?

    Yes, you do.

I am planning a trip with KLM airlines from Oslo to Lima through Amsterdam. I am wondering if 1h 25 min transfer time at AMS is enough to catch my flight to Lima?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

I am flying from Heathrow to Seattle and have a connecting flight to Las Vegas, I will have to reclaim my luggage and go through customs, I have 2hours 15 min to do the above and get to the connecting flight (with a different carrier) will \I have enough time? The flight arrives at Seattle 11 March 16.26. Also will I need to queue again with my luggage to check in for my Las Vegas flight?

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? What airlines are you flying?

They were purchased separately through a travel agent who has already told me that I will have to collect my luggage and go through customs. I fly to Seattle with Delta Airlines and then onto Las Vegas with Delta Airlines

You should have enough time. You should either be able to get your bags tagged to LAS in London (bring your SEA-LAS confirmation with you) or get your bags retagged to LAS at the Delta transfer desk after you exit customs so that you don't have to go to the main terminal to re-check your bag. You should have enough time.

I will arriving at HOU on Delta 844 from Atlanta but the Terminal I will exit is not indicated on my ticket. Can you help with this information please.

Are you sure you are flying to HOU (Houston Hobby) and not IAH (Houston Intercontinental)? HOU only has one terminal.

  • Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 in 2 hours

My Mom have to connect domestic flight from Denver in JFK with international fly to Moscow. As far as I understood Delta flight arrives at 16:35 to terminal 2 and Aeroflot flight to Moscow departures at 19:10 from Terminal 1. Will it be enough time to connect? Is it easy to find shuttle bus or train near Terminal 2? Is there any passport control for those who arrived to Terminal 2?

You will not have to go through passport control in JFK. You will take the AirTrain from your arrival terminal (you could arrive in Terminal 2 or 4) to Terminal 1, then go through security. You should have enough time.
