  • 39 minute connection?
    Mar 15, 2014
Is 39 minutes long enough for a connection from United Express from Reno to United to HNL?

You should have enough time - you arrive at Terminal 3, with boarding areas E & F (and gates E & F). Follow signs.

  • Connecting flight from LAX to ORD then to YUL
    Mar 15, 2014
when can I know which gates I will be getting out of at ORD and which do I need to go to for my second flight? I will be travelling with young children, I dont have a very good sense of direction when it comes to airports and I will be having 1hr30 waiting time in-betwen flights. I want to make sure I dont miss the second flight.

You won't know your exact gates until the day of your flight. 1.5 hours is a ton of time. What airlines are you flying?

thanks for your answer, im flying with American Airlines.

All your flights will be in Terminal 3 and connected inside security. You will have plenty of time.

  • Qatar boarding pass in terminal 3?
    Mar 14, 2014
I arrive from Columbus to ORD into Terminal 3 by American Eagle and connect on Qatar airways departing to Doha also from Terminal 3. But i wonder if I can get the boarding pass for the Qatar airways leg at Terminal 3 and if there is a Qatar ticketing counter in Terminal 3 available?

Yes, there is a Qatar Airways ticket counter in Terminal 3. If you bought your tickets together the AA desk in Columbus may even be able to print you your Qatar boarding pass for you.

  • Do i have enough time?
    Mar 14, 2014
I will arrive from fort lauderdale to jfk on jet blue at terminal 5 and will have 1 hr and 38 min as a layover to my next flight on egyptair at terminal 4 would i have enough time to catch the flight and do they send my luggage to the final destination or i will have to pick them up? My flight is on 24 march

JetBlue and Egyptair do have an interline agreement, so if you bought your tickets together JetBlue should be able to check your bags through to Egyptair. If they can't I don't think you will have enough time to claim them and get them to the Egyptair counter before their bag cutoff.

  • International Connection
    Mar 19, 2014
Hi im arriving at LAX at 12:30 noon from Cook Islands in a New Zealand Air flight, after that i will be connecting to a Mexican flight to get to Mexico, my connection is around 90 minutes, do i have to go through customs ? Should 90 minutes be enough?

Yes, you will have to go through immigration, claim your baggage, and re-check your baggage? Where all your tickets bought on one reservation? What airline are you flying to Mexico? 90 minutes is really pushing what's possible for an international->international connection at LAX

Hi thanks for the answer and it would be another airline first Ari New Zealand and then Aeromexico, actually i havent buy the tickets to Mexico yet, but im afraid if i dont take that flight i have to spend a day in Los Angeles, since is the last one i can catch.

Well, currently both Air New Zealand and Aeromexico are in the same terminal (2) which would make the connection easier, but Air New Zealand will be moving to the International Terminal soon, which would make the connection harder. There is an Aeromexico flight that leaves at 12:20 AM or you could book a connection on United through Houston leaving a variety of different times or you could fly Volaris on a flight that stops in Guadalajara.

Thank you very much for the volaris tip, i will considering this option.

I will be landing at terminal 4 ELAL at 15:20/ How long would you expect it to take to go through immigration and customs (American citizen) wthout luggage? Have times significantly changed since the new passport kiosks have been added? How long to get to terminal 8 and go through security and get to American Airlines?

It should take maybe 30 minutes to get through immigration. It will take you maybe another 15 to get to T8, then however long security takes (anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes).

  • TBIT TO 8
    Mar 13, 2014
Arriving TB from Lima (LAN) at 7:20pm and then going to Vegas, United Airlines at 10:21pm, terminal 8. Do I have enough time for the transfer considering immig and customs? What's the best way to do this?

Yes, you should have enough time. Are both your tickets bought together or were they bought separately? If bought separately and you have to transfer bags yourself, after exiting customs, exit the terminal and go to the right, you will have to walk approx. .7 km to Terminal 7 (there are no check-in facilities for Terminal 8). When there, if you end up having to transfer your bags yourself you will have to check them with UA and pay a checked bag fee. United's terminals 6, 7, and 8 are all connected.

  • Arriving with Domestiv flight "A", departure International "C"
    Apr 30, 2014
Hi I am landing with a domestic UA flight into termina "A" and I have 53 minutes till my departure internation flight from terminal "C". What do I need to do, meaning is there a security check /passport control /baggade claim and recheck in to do? Should i use the airtrain or the shuttle?

If you use United's shuttle bus you won't have to go through security to make your transfer, therefore that's what you should do. If you used the AirTrain you'd have to go through security in Terminal C. There are no immigration procedures when arriving on a domestic flight.

So where do i do immigration?

I understand there is no immigration when landing domestic flight but it should be when leaving international flight, right? If yes, where do i handle that one?

No, there is no immigration upon departure of an International flight from the US. You will go through immigration for the country you are traveling to when you arrive in that country.

I am traveling to switzerland. So how will US know i lest the american soil?

They get a report from the airline, which has your passport number.

Thank you. I have done this trip mid march without any issue

I will arrive at JFK T1 from LAP at 4.15pm and depart to FCO T1 at 6pm is it enough time?

LAP is La Paz, Mexico, which does not have flights to JFK. Where are you actually arriving from? (La Paz, Bolivia also does not have flights to JFK). Is your arrival into JFK domestic or international?

Sorry We not arrive from LAP but from MEX....

Yes, that should be enough time, but if there are any delays you may have trouble meeting the bag cutoff with Alitalia if you have to transfer bags yourself. However, Aeromexico should be able to tag your bags through to Rome in La Paz since both airlines are in SkyTeam.

What is the average time it takes for a US citizen with only carry on luggage to clear immigration and customs? Arriving June 17th at 5 PM

It also depends what Terminal, but I would budget somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes.

  • Question
    Mar 13, 2014
I am traveling from Dubai with Emirates to Canada through Houston, I am not holding an American nor Canadian passport, I have around 2 hours between flights, will this be enough to clear immigration, get my luggage and recheck it with and catch my flight with United to Canada? Thanks

It should be enough time but doesn't leave much time for delays. If you have to transfer bags yourself you may have trouble meeting the baggage cutoff with United if there are long lines at immigration.

  • International arrival w/ 90 min. Lay over
    Mar 13, 2014
Is 90 min long enough btw flights to get through customs? Arriving on Delta from Milan and connecting to SFO (also a Delta flight). We will not have checked baggage, and I believe both flights are terminal 2. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time but doesn't leave much room for delays. Actually, both of your flights will be in Terminal 4.

  • connecting times for international travelers
    Mar 13, 2014
I have an international flight landing at 15:20 at terminal 4 and a connecting flight on American leaving at 17:55 terminal 8. My return flights have me arriving at terminal 8 at 16:45 and departing on an international flight at 19:00/ Is this sufficient time?

It should be enough time, even if you have to transfer bags yourself, as long as there are no delays.

  • getting from US Airway terminal to United terminal
    Mar 12, 2014
Is a one hour delay enough time to get from US airway flight 662 arriving 10:10 am to United flight departing at 11:25 am

Yes, it should be as long as you either don't have checked bags or they are checked through to United. I don't think you will have enough time if you have to transfer bags yourself.
