  • transit time at 8 pm?
    Jun 14, 2013
Hi, I'm arriving at JFK from Heathrow on American (travel originating Tel Aviv) at 8 pm on a weekday evening w/three kids. Can we make it from there to a Jet Blue flight to Boston at 11 pm? Will we be switching terminals and what does that entail? Will the procedure be: exit plane, collect luggage, clear immigration and customs, go to Jet Blue and recheck luggage, or is there a way to drop off my luggage right after clearing customs? Thanks for your help!

Yes, you have the procedure correct. You will take the Airline Terminals Train/AirTrain from Terminal 8 to Terminal 5.

  • Connection from Terminal 3 to terminal 5
    Jun 13, 2013
Hi, I will be reaching Chicago ORD by American Airlines (Terminal 3) and will be departing by ETIHAD (terminal5). I have 1 hour 30 min time during this transit. I will be traveling with a 18 year old Kid . So could some one please tell me if I can make it in time.

    Sorry 18 Month Old kid.

It's possible but you'll have to hurry and hope your first flight is on-time. If your tickets were bought on one reservation American may be able to get you your boarding pass for the Etihad flight at your origination. In Chicago, you will have to go out of Terminal 3 to the ATS train, take it one stop to Terminal 5, and go back through security.

Yes you have enough time, just follow signs to Concourse K.

im flying from mbs to chicago to lhr with a 41 min connection time is that going to give me enough time to get to c16 ?

If your flights are via United or United Express, your transfer time will be enough. You would arrive in Trminal 1 at either B or C gates.

Actually, you will arrive in Terminal 2, but you can walk to Terminal 1 Where your london flight will depart without having to go back through security. However, you will have to hurry. It could take about 20 minutes to walk between gates.

thank you hopefully it wont be delayed

Arriving US air from Columbus at Terminal C and I need to get to Munich departure at Terminal A. What is the best way to go about doing this?

You just walk, you can walk from C to A without having to go through security again.

  • Seattle to Shanghai connections time
    Jun 13, 2013
My wife is arriving from Seattle to YVR on Alaska Airlines at 11:33 (Gate E94). She has a connection with China Eastern Airlines leaving at 1:20 (Gate D67). She can get a boarding pass at the gate for China Eastern. She has no checked baggage, just carry on. She must be at gate D67 by 12:40. Does she have enough time? She must go through (Canadian?) customs. Can she stay inside and go straight to the gate? Or does she need to go outside security, get a boarding pass and come back in (in which case I do not think she can make it.) This is happening tomorrow, June 13.

Yes, I think she will have to go through Canadian immigration. I don't think she will have enough time to do all that. She should try to get on an earlier flight.

Thanks ZAP! Yes, I think you are right. Because she does not have a boarding pass, she cannot stay inside security and go straight to the China Eastern gate. So, she will have to go outside security and back in. There is no way to do that in time. Everyone says it takes at least 2 hours. So, we found a way to get her ther early! Alaska has an option called "Same Day Confirmed". This lets you switch to an earlier flight to the same destination on the same day without changing or invalidating your ticket! She is using this option right now. Hope it works!

  • Connection Question

We are flying in on Delta from Seattle on July 22nd. We will be transfering to a KLM Cityhopper flight to Tronheim, Norway. We have 1 hour 20 minutes to make the connection. I under we have to pickup our bags and go the passport control and customs. Then recheck them with KLM. What Terminal do the Cityhoppers fly out of (so I get find it on your map). We don't want to miss our flight. Is this really enough time to get through the system? It sounds like it is well organized.

Delta & KLM belong both to the Skyteam Alliance - your bags will be transferred automatically to your Trondheim flight. Look at overhead screens to find your connecting flight & gate number. Gate-to-Gate transfers: B & C gates are at the very right end of the bow-shaped terminal; north of it are the C gates arranged in a Y-shape; around the bend are the E gates, followed in the center by the F gates; right thereafter is entry to the G, H & M gates (G gates are to the right, H & M gates to the left). Walking time from the entry of B or C gates all the way over to the entry of G, H or M gates would take about 15 mins. Walking to the end of B gates takes 15 mins; for the C gates 7 mins; for the D gates 8 mins; for the E gates 1 min; for the F gates in the Center 2 mins; for the G gates 5 mins; and for the H & M gates 7 mins.

  • transfer from terminal 3 to 1
    Jun 12, 2013
My United flight, Washington-Rome arrives terminal 3 at 8:30 am. I want to connect to Alitalia to Florence at 9:40 am in Terminal 1. I only have carry-on...is there enough time? What is the best way to do it? (walk, bus, train?)

I really don't think that's enough time unless your United flight gets in early. You will have to clear immigration, walk to T1, check in and go through security and to your gate all in only a little more than an hour.

  • Help with flight connection times please!
    Jun 12, 2013
I am arriving to Newark terminal B from Heathrow and have a 1 hour 40 minute lay over time to go through immigration and to terminal C for connecting flight to San Jose. Is this possible? any tips or help very welcome, first time through US in transit and very worried about connection time.

That will be pretty tough. Is your LHR flight on United, BA, or Virgin? If not United, were your tickets bought on one reservation or two? If so BA or Virgin Atlantic (whoever you are flying from Heathrow) will probably be able to check your bags through to United, however you will still have to claim them in immigration and re-check them once you get through (same process if your first flight is on United). Take the Airtrain from TB to TC.

oh ! im flying with United from LHR, I contacted the airline today as I was worried and they claim its "plenty of time mam" stating its a 1 hr 25 minute connection! I didn't realise our bags would not be transferred onto our onward flight either! I assumed as with all other flights I have ever taken (not via US!) that they would be sent on to our destination. so can anyone tell me a plane door to plane door run through of what to expect, the tickets were bought as one ticket from United, they operate both the LHR - Newark and Newark onwards to SJO. Thanks in advance!

You will get off the plane and be funneled to Immigration. You will then go through immigration, then claim your bags, then walk through customs, then re-check the bags with United at the re-check counter. If you arrive in Terminal B you will then go up to the Airtrain, then take the Airtrain to Terminal C then go through security. If you arrive in Terminal C you will go upstairs and go through security and then go to your gate. Immigration can take around an hour these days and security can take 20-30 minutes, so you will definitely have to hurry.

On arrival at EWR you go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated. Then board the Airtrain (running on average every 7 mins), which will take you to Terminal C, where you arrive in the pre-security area of the gate level and need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting flight at Terminal C whose Gate level leads to three gate areas: 1. Gate Area C1, arranged in a Y-shape, with gates C70-99; 2. Gate Area C2 (gates C101-C115); and 3. Gate Area C3 (gates C120-139). You should be able to make your flight on time. Terminal C is the exclusive United & United Express airline terminal.

I am looking for the specific location in the main terminal for Calm, Delta and United airlines

In what airport? Check-in counter or gates?

  • Transfer Shuttle Bus Between TB & TC

I need to transfer between TB & TC and wish to use the transfer shuttle bus to avoid going through security again. Where is the shuttle bus located in TB? When does it operate?

The shuttle stop in Terminal B is near the B3 satellite - http://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/airport/maps/ewr.aspx

  • 35 minute connection in Terminal 3
    Jun 11, 2013
I arrive at Gate 19A (American Eagle) in Terminal 3 at 9:10 pm and depart for Heathrow (American Airlines) from Gate K19 Terminal 3 at 9:45. Do I have to go through security? Should I alert the airline?

No, you do not have to go through security. You just have to walk between your gates. If your first flight is on-time you should be OK if you hurry.

I fly into ORD on Spirit Airlines and on AirBerlin. Are they both located in Term. 3? Do I have to collect baggage and go thru security again? Please advise.

Yes, you will have to - Spirit will not transfer your bags to Air Berlin. Plan at least 2 hours for your transfer as Spirit is frequently late.

Are Spirit Airlines and AirBerlin both located in Term. 3?

Yes, they are. (Air Berlin arrivals are in Terminal 5, but departures are in Terminal 3).

I am flying UA and arriving at B gate 41 and need to depart at B gate 90 which seems to be apart from the main concourse. Can I make it in 50 minutes. I am not a speedy walker, will be traveling alone and am afraid I have to navigate steps and the outside. Can I make it in the 55 minutes?

Concourse B just forks at the end where B90 is, it's still part of B that you can easily walk to. Your transfer shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes.

Are there steps involved or does it just fork?

You do go down a level, but I'm sure there's an escalator and/or elevator. DEN is a fairly new airport and I'm sure it's very accessible. If you're really worried you can request wheelchair assistance by calling United.

I will be flying to DFW via IAD and the transit time is just 2 hours. I am a tourist and visiting US for the first time. I would like to know if I arrive into Gate C1 and depart from Gate C6 what is the procedure to be followed.

The airport has a good description of how this works. Since you will be staying in C you will likely be allowed to clear customs in C. http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/884.htm

At IAD, all international arrivals are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance: you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated. International arrivals who continue their journey need to take the Mobile Lounge shuttle to the D gates D1-32 of Midfield Concourse building C/D; on arrival at D gates, take the walkway (follow signs) to your connecting C gate C6. 2 hrs should suffice..

Tujun is incorrect. Follow the instructions on the IAD site.
