  • Sister's arrival
    Nov 7, 2013
My sister arriving via Kuwait Airlines Dec. 22 at 06:50 am and has a connecting flight via UA 3330 at 0925 am. She still need to get her luggage and go to customs. Can you please help me if she will be able to make to her connecting flight on time. Where is the closest check in counter for UA? What level is she going to check in? and she still need to go thru Security again to go to her gate designated to UA 3330. Any advise will help her. This is her first time to travel to the US. Thank you in advance.

Your sister has enough transfer time: International arrivals at IAD are being transported to the International Arrivals Building at the west end of the main terminal for TSA clearance, where they need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag. (making sure prior to departure that Kuwait Airlines will transfer bags to United connecting flight - if tickets were bought separately). Thereafter she will board the Aerotrain (signs will guide her) to her connecting 'Midfield Concourse - Unite uses A, B & C for domestic flights - overhead screens on arrival will indicate flight & gate numbers. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iad, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Kuwait Airlines does not fly to Washington-Dulles. Please double-check your sister's itinerary.

Sorry, she is flying via UA 981 not Kuwait Airlines...wrong information. Thanks for letting me know.

In that case ignore what tuoct said. She will likely clear immigration in the C/D Inspection area. From there she can go upstairs after clearing immigration, claiming her bags, going through customs, and re-checking them with United, and then going through security. United 3330 to Harrisburg departs from concourse A, so she will have to take the Aerotrain or Mobile Lounge from C/D to A. There will be overhead signs showing the way to A.

Thank you for the information. Have a great day!

My sister is arriving Dec. 22 via United Airlines UA 981 at 6:50 a.m. She has a connecting flight to MDT via UA 3330 at 9:25 am. Does she still need to get her luggage after the customs or she will just get her luggage in the final destination (MDT)? Does she has an ample time to catch her connecting flight? Does she still need to check in in the United Airlines? Please advise. Any help will do.

  • Airport Transfer times

My wife is flying to London Heathrow from Houston TX via Atlanta on Delta airlines Flight no DL5110 connecting with flight DL84 could you tell us what terminal she will be arriving in at Atlanta and what terminal she will be leaving from and what is the distance and time between terminals

She will arrive at one of the concourses (it appears usually concourse E) and depart from an International concourse (E or F). If she has to change concourses she does so with the plane train, which runs inside security. All Delta gates at ATL can be reached from one another in less than 30 minutes.

The concourse she will arrive at you say E is that the same as the International E concourse

Yes, it is. Note that she may also arrive in C or D though. Delta connection has nearly a hundred gates at ATL.

  • Terminal 5 to 7, 2 hours ok, Recheck bags to International?
    Oct 21, 2013
I want to buy a ticket on Jet Blue to arrive at terminal 5 at 7:03 AM, then depart international on Cathay Pacific at 9 AM. (2 hours) I will need to claim my bags and transfer them myself because Jet Blue does not have an agreement with Catha Pacific. And go through security. Is this enough time at this hour of the day?

That will be very difficult but it is doable if there are no delays. You take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train between terminals.

  • 41 Minute Flight Connection
    Oct 20, 2013
My husband and I are going to Hawaii in Jan, via Delta sky miles . Our original flight had a 1 1/2 hour lay over. Delta just notified us of a flight time change and now we only have 41 minutes to connect to our flight to Kona. What Terminal does Delta use and are the arrival and departures on the same level? Is 41 minutes enough time to make the connection?

    Which is your connecting terminal?

At which Airport are you connecting?

  • Connection time in ord
    Oct 20, 2013
We will be flying Munich to ORD to TUL. We arrive in Chicago about 6:30pm and only have 1h 45 min til the next flight. Flying in on Lufthansa and continuing on United, though it was all booked via United. We will have been on a farm in the UK and need to go through the Ag line. Is this enough time?

Can't advise you as to Ag procedure at ORD. However, the international arrivals procedure includes going through passport check, retrieving checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-checking-in bags where indicated; thereafter proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Note that United uses both Terminals 1 (B & C gates) and T2 (E & F gates). Your transfer time should suffice.

That will be a very tight connection.

  • First Time in the US and nervous. Help
    Oct 20, 2013
Hi! My friends' flight is scheduled arriving from Moscow to JFK T4 at 2:18 pm and at 4:00pm they have to take the connecting flight to Miami with the same air company ( Delta ) in T2. Layover time 1 hour 40 minutes and flights were bought on one ticket. Do they have enough time? What is the best(the fastest) way for them to switch terminals? And is there someone at the airport who can assist them( they don't speak English). Thank you!

On arrival at Terminal 4 of JFK, your friends need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in bags where indicated. Continuoulsly running Delta Shuttle bus service runs between T2 & T4 ( from/to gate C60 at T2 & gate B23 at T4) andd eliminates the need for security check - add about 12 minutes of transfer time. T4 has Concourses B (gates B20-38) and Concourse A (gates A2-7). they have enough time for transfer.

They can also take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train since they will already be outside security after clearing customs in T4. In that case they will go back through security in T2.

i am flying from pearson international arriving at george bush airport houston texas terminal A then taking an international flight terminal E my stop over time says 1hr 30 mins would that be enough time to clear Immigration/customs and get to teminal E

At Pearson you will complete U.S. customs clearance. At IAH, after arrival at Terminal A, take the above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, connects terminals A, B, C, D/E inside security; then follow signs to your connecting gate. Bush estimates a 30-min. transfer from A to E - this would not allow for incoming plane delay.

  • From DUB-AMS-BKK
    Oct 17, 2013
Hi. I'm planning to fly from Dublin to Bangkok (Thailand) by transiting in Amsterdam. I have 1 hour 25 minutes between arrival to AMS and departure for BKK. Would this amount of time be sufficient? Considering that I'm a non-EU national and my flight would be at the end of December this year. Thank you very much.

Your transfer time should suffice. 1. Arrivals from a non-Schengen (foreign) country: note that the passport will be checked upon arrival at, and departure from, Amsterdam Airport. On arrival, after passport control, follow signs to 'Baggage Hall' located on the ground level, retrieve your bags, & go through customs for security check. 2. if connecting to a non-Schengen country, security check will be at the gate. 3. NOTE: Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. Departures 1 uses the B, C & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. (Arrivals 1 & 2 and Arrivals 3 & 4 are on opposite sides of the center.)

  • Enough time for transfer to miami.
    Oct 25, 2013
This would be my first time for traveling with transfer. I arrive from Amsterdam with DL 251 at 10.40 a.m. and have a transfer with DL 1704 at 14.00 p.m. Please help me what I exactly have to do. Must I Pick up my luggage first and clear in. Is that in the neighbourhood where I left my plane from Amsterdam? Is the gate where I have to go in the same area\? Must I go with elevators or shuttle buses. Please help me.

You will arrive at, and depart from, the South Terminal, which has Conccourses /gates H & J. International Arrivals will be processed at Arrivals J (follow directions), where they need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag. Thereafter, proceed to your connecting Concourse H (H gates) for Delta connection.

On arrival at DTW, you will be processed at the lower level of McNamara Terminal and thereafter take the escalator thereafter to level 1, and proceed from there to level 2 with Concourses/Gates. On arrival, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag . You can connect to your departing gates by moving walkways or by taking the Express Tram. The McNamara Terminal has Concourses A, B & C with corresponding gates. The overhead screens will indicate flight numbers & gates. You have plenty of time.

Thanks thoct13 for your answers. If I understand you quite well as follows: We arrive from Amsterdam at the lower lever of McNamara Terminal. Then we first must take the elevator to level 1. Then another elevator to level 2 where the gates are displayed. Then thereafter through the passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance with bags, luggage etc. and then re-check in luggage and then to our connecting flight to Miamiby moving walkways. I do not understand what gates H & J and J have to do with my transfer. Please I am so worried, let me know exactly what to do.

thoct's post was very confusing - here is what you do. You will arrive in the immigration area of the McNamara Terminal, which is on the lower level. When there you will go through US immigration, claim your baggage, and go through US customs. After exiting customs you can re-check your bags with Delta. Then you will go upstairs to the departure level and go through security and to your gate. Everything is directly connected - no shuttles required.

Oh. Thank you Zap. My flight from Amsterdam to Detroit will be DL 251, arriving time 10.40. Then flight nr DL 1704 departure 14.00 pm to Miami. Your answer is very clear. Do you know the gate of arrival and the gate of departure? Is that a big distance from each other? Thx ZAP again.

You won't know the exact gates until the day of your flight, but all the international arrival gates are near the center of the A concourse and your Miami flight will also leave from somewhere in the A concourse.

ZAP. Thx very much. I think that because of you i will feel me much relaxer then before. Grts from Amsterdam.

You have plenty of time between 13:25 & 16.00 (1:25pm - 4:00pm U.S. time). You will arrive at Terminal 1 (T1) & depart from Terminal 2. On arrival, you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance, then re-check-in your bag where indicated. If you purchased both Turkish & Delta flights on one ticket, your bags will automatically be transferred. If not, you would have to take your bags after customs clearance and check them in with Delta at Terminal 2. Connecting from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2: The 'Airlines Terminals Train' (follow signs) - runs every 10-15 minutes, counter-clockwise, in the unsecured areas of the terminals - your next stop after T1 would be T8, T7, T2,, T4 & T2. On arrival at T2, you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

  • Lan Airlines
    Oct 17, 2013
I am picking up someone on LAN flight 2514 tomorrow morning. Where should I meet her after she gets thru customs?

Your party will arrive at the South Terminal which houses Concourses H & J and corresponding gates. International Arrivals will be processed at Arrivals J - meet your party outside of Arrivals J or at the Information counter.

  • Transfer from HK to nice
    Oct 17, 2013
I arrive at CDG 2a on Cathay pacific from HK at 645am. My flight to Nice is airfrance from CDG 2f at 825am. So basically I have 100 mins to transfer and my bags will be checked thru. A bit nervous because it looks like I have to take the shuttle bus. The only other option because everything is sold out is to take a 11am from Orly. Any advice

The T2 complex consists of Terminals T2A through T2G. Terminals T2A/T2B, T2D/T2C & T2F/T2E are divided north/south by their garages, and Separate & parallel Concourse buildings L & M (referred to as 'Halls L & M') are between T2E/2F. Follow signs on arrival to your connecting Terminal F.

    Do I have enough time

  • Teminal C to E
    Oct 17, 2013
Hi, I am arriving on JetBlue Term C and transferring to Term E for BA internationsl flight. JetBlue say my luggage will be checked through all the way, so do I just walk from Term C to Term E (2 minutes)? Thanks.

BOS has no post-security transfers. However, you can use the walkways between terminals. Both terminals C & E are next to each others. At TE you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate.

  • Connecting Flights
    Oct 17, 2013
I am arriving at Terminal A and have a 47 minute window to depart from Terminal C - Is this enough time. Would the outside train or the underground train be quicker ?

On arrival at IAH, take the above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, connects terminals B, & C - Hurry!

  • Domestic arrival C > Int'l departure A West - 50 mins?
    Oct 16, 2013
I am looking at an itinerary that has me arriving on a domestic US air flight at C21 and departing for the UK from A21 just 50 minutes later. Is this possible?

Yes, 50 mins is sufficient. Terminals A & B are connected by post-security walkway. Concourses B gates B1-B16, and Concourse C gates C16-C31 on opposite sides - are the two main US Airways terminals, connected by a shopping mall and a food court.
