I will be arriving from Florida on Jetblue (terminal 5) at JFK airport at 12pm. My guest is arriving from Turkey (terminal 1) at 5:30pm. Am I able to get my bags and wait for him at terminal 1?

On arrival at Terminal 5 of JFK Airport, claim your bag and take the AirTrain to Terminal 1 arriving at pre-security area - ask any airport employee or go to the information counter to find out where to temporarily store your bag. You can eat or shop on the departures level, eat or shop, and meet your friend in the Arrivals hall near the information counter.

  • Transfer from Lufthansa to United

Traveling from Istanbul to FRA via Lufthansa and transferring to a United flight to SFO. I have an 1 hour 15 minutes to do this. Can I go directly to United gate at FRA terminal 1 or do I have to go through immigration or some other check point before proceeding to United gate. Thanks

On arrival at FRA you need to go through "non-Schengen" (foreign) passport control. You will arrive and depart from the same Terminal 1 - Lufthansa uses A & B Concourses ("Piers); United uses B Concourse. Pier A has gates A1-42 & Z11-26), Pier B has gates B1-B63). If you need to transfer inside Terminal 1between B gates (T1B) and A or Z gates (T1A), you can use transfer tunnel outside security, or the SkyLine train inside security, which leaves every 2-3 mins.

  • Commute: Times Square to LGA

Friday Oct. 12, leaving interview at 4:30, with a 6:30 flight from the main terminal (American Airlines). With car service waiting at 4:30 sharp, will I make the flight (all carry on)?

Even with the worst kind of traffic, leaving Manhattan - or parts of Long Island or Queens - you should easily be able to make it to Terminal A (American AL) and still have time for a bite to eat!

Arriving from Wichita, Ks, at IAH on Wed. Oct 10, flight 4431. Have a 46 min layover before taking 573 on to San Diego. At what gate will I probably land and then what gate will I probably take off from?

Could not find your flight 4431. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iah, clickon "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text for airline assignments at Terminals & gates, and how to connect.

Later this month I will be flying to DTW from Frankfurt Germany on DELTA 143 and changing to DELTA 4039 to Toronto. Is 2 hours enough time to clear customs and get to new aircraft?

    1. On arrival at DTW Airport at the McNamara Terminal, at lower level, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes). You can connect to your departing gates by moving walkways or by taking the Express Tram. 2. Your connecting flight is either at Concourses A, B or C (with corresponding gate numbers) - the overhead screen on arrival and your ticket should indicate flight number and gate. Note that Concourse A has 1.5 miles of moving walkways; the Express Tram stops at its south station near gate A11, in the center near the water feature (where you would arrive from the main terminal), and at the North station near gate A67. Also, a tunnel connects A, B & C concourses. 2 hours will suffice.

  • Connecting flight in 45 minutes

Hi, I plan to take Vietnam Airlines from Hanoi to Frankfurt arriving at 6am, then take Lufthansa connecting fly to Hannover at 6.45 am. Is 45 minutes enough to transfer and can I do the immigration procedures at Hannover airport? Many thanks.

Even though it is a large and very busy airport, you have time. It is extremely efficient.

You will arrive at Frankfurt Airport at Terminal 2 - D gates. You need to depart via Lufthansa to Terminal 1 A/B gates - After arrival and passport check /immigration procedures, you need to take your bags along to Terminal 1 by using the shuttle bus outside. At Terminal 1 you need to check in your bags with Lufthansa, get your boarding pass and proceed to either Pier A or B (gates A or B), the overhead screens in the terminal will indicate your flight number, gate & departure time. 45 mins is very short. Hurry! NOTE: If your Vietnam Airline will transfer your bags to Lufthansa connection, you will be able to take the SkyLine train to Terminal 1 instead, which runs every 2-3 mins.

What is the quickest way to get from gate d38 to gate d3? Is there a people mover or monorail?

At MIA Airport, the elevated Skytrain at the North Terminal services the 1-mile-long Concourse D, with 4 stations between east and west Gates D17 & D46 and completing its route within 5 minutes: (a) Skytrain Station 1 stops near gate D17 at easternmost end of the Conourse and serves gates D1-19. (b) Skytrain Station 3 serves gates D26-39.

how much time will it take me from international airport to terminal 5?

At LAX, arriving at the Bradley (TBIT) terminal and exiting it, you have two choices to get to T5: Either walk (to the right) around the bend passing T4 to T5 - taking about 10 mins; or using the shuttle bus route A on lower arrivals level island, which runs about every 15-20 mins and would take about 5 mins. In both instances you need to go through security check at T5 before moving on to your gate. (T5 has gatess 50-69).

There was a shuttle inside security when Delta had a codeshare with AE. It may have stopped. Do I have to exit security on 5 and go thru it again on 4?

At LAX Terminals 4 and 5 are not connected. You need to exit T5, walk over to T4 & then go through security check at T5. If you have checked bags, make sure Delta transfers bags to AE, if not you need to claim your bag at T5 and check it in with AE at T4, before proceeding to your gate.

Leaving LAX on Delta; connecting in AMS on KLM to NBO...will my luggage be booked all the way - from LAX to NBO?

As both Delta & KLM are members of the Sky Team, I presume Delta will transfer your bags to your KLM flight; however, make sure by contacting Delta. If not, you would need, on arrival at AMS, claim your bags & check them in on level 2 (the Departure level) and get your boarding pass. This is what you need to know about AMS terminal: Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. You can walk from B to M gates in a mere 15 mins.

how long does it take to get from gate C21 to D5

At ATL Airport, Concourses C & D are separate buildings; On arrival at gate C21, take the escalator/elevator down to the Plain Train to Concourse D, go up escalator/elevator and you arrive near D16, then walk to D5. estimated time: 15 mins.
