US Passport, travel LHR to VCE Thru AMS, Assume luggage Transfer by KLM, need to go thru customs/immgration? Or is gates close by each other, have 50 minute between flights, older walk slow.

    1. Assuming you are not a transfer passenger from the U.S. at London Heathrow), your customs/immigration check will be at Venice Airport. 2. KLM will transfer your bags to VCE flight. This is the Terminal layout: 1. Arrivals level: Inside the first level are separate sections, marked as 'Arrivals 1' through 'Arrivals 4': Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. 2.Departures level 2: Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. Follow signs. You have enough time.

I am arriving on UA at 10:40 am, then departing on Alaska Airlines at 11:45 to Billingham. On the way home Alaska Airlines into Seattle at 7:43am connecting to UA flight at 8:30am will I have enough time to deplane and then get to my connecting flights on time?

Both United and Alaska airlines use Satellite North; however, United also uses Concourse B and Alaska Concourse C (with corresponding gate numbers). While you only need to transfer from gate to gate at Satellite North, you would have a more complicated transfer if arriving at Satellite North and departing from either Concourses B or C. (a) to Concourse B: Board train at Satellite North to Concourse C. Board train at Concourse C to Main Terminal North Station. Exit train and walk through the station, board another train to Main Terminal South Station. Exit train at Main Terminal South Station. Walk through the station and board another train, pass Satellite South to Concourse B. (b) Board train at Satellite North to Concourse C. Enter Concourse C. 3. North Satellite has gates N1-16; Concourse B gates B1-15; Concourse C gates C1-20. Your ticket and the overhead screens on arrival at SEA will indicate your flight number and gate. You should have enough time for transfer options.

My 16 year old son will be traveling alone from Accra Ghana into Terminal 3 and departing for Boston Mass from terminal 3, both flights on Alitalia. This is his first time traveling alone internationally.......What is the process after he lands? What signs should he look for and follow? Customs? Passport control? International connections?

He will be just fine, that young man! On arrival at Terminal 3, a shuttle bus will pick him up at the airplane and take him to the special Terminal 5 (US & Israel flights only) where he has to go through customs/immigration procedures. Thereafter, the shuttle bus will take him back to Boarding Area G. Terminal 3 has gates gates D1-10, G1-14, & H6-19 - he should scan the overhead screen on arrival to note his connection gate number (his ticket may also indicate gate number).

  • Connection from Term 5 to 2

What is the fastest way to get from Terminal 5 to Terminal 2 and how long will it take? I have 1 1/2 hours.

All terminals at JFK are served by the AirTrain, running on average about every 8 mins. At T5 the station is near gate 25 (or gate 1 on opposite side) take walkway to skywalk & to station; at T2 it is outside of arrivals. In each case you need to go through security at T2 before proceeding to your gate. T2 is the Delta Priority Terminal with gates 19-29.

Where do you pick up your luggage and get transportation ?

You did not indicate the Airport name; however, with some exceptions, the ground level is the arrivals / baggage claim level, with information desk, rental car counters and outside transportation options.

Arriving in Las Vegas on Hawaiian Airlines from Honolulu. How do I get to my connecting flight on United Airlines.

You arrive at LAS via Hawaiian at Terminal 2, whch has gates T2-1 through T2-8); you depart via United at Terminal 1, Concourse D. T1 & T2 area across from each other, which are connected by an uncovered sidewalk and by a free shuttle bus, which stops at T1, outside of doors 12-14 and at T2 at center media. You need to go through security check at T1 before proceeding to the D gates: The separate D gate satellite, reached via the Esplanade, is formed like a crab with four 'legs', houses gates D1-D6; D16-D26; D50-D59; D32-D43 - all connected by the D-Gate Tram. Observe the overhead screens for your gate number and departure time.

  • Baggage

If i go from Term 2G to Term 2E I should not have to retrieve my baggage. I was told I had to. This makes no sense. Is this true??? The bags should be booked straight through from Florence, Italy to Boston, USA. All I have to do is contend with French customs. Am I correct?? Thank you

You arrive at Terminal 2's satellite building 2G and depart from satellite building 2E. T2 has satellites 2B, 2D & 2F on one side of the driveway and 2A, 2C & 2E on the opposite side. Satellite 2G of Terminal 2 is further away; a shuttle bus runs between 2E and 2G. However, if you are a non-Schengen (countries not part of the Schengen agreement) arrival, you need to go through immigration /customs clearance involving picking up bags & re-checking them in, before continuing to your connecting flight. Also, as an international arrival (incl. US citizens) in Boston, you will need to do the same.

Will we have to go through security when changing planes at Midway?

At MDW, which has one passenger terminal - Concourses A, B & C can be reached by foot from the food court called 'Midway Blvd.' on the upper level of the terminal. No need to go through security.

Hello..Arriving International Qants at 6:55am,leaving AA T4 9:35am. Is it easier to walk (one bag) or shuttle?

On arrival at Terminal 4 (Qantas) you are being transported by special Qantas Bus to the international terminal TBIT/ "TB", where you need to go through passport check, retrieve baggage, go through customs clearance and re-check-in your bag. Thereafter, you need to exit TBIT & walk to the right to the next terminal, which is Terminal 4 - also serving AA. At T4 you need to go through security before proceeding to your gate. However, make sure that Qantas will transfer bags automatically to AA flight - not all airlines do, in which case you would have to re-check in your bag at T4.

  • T5 to T3 in 1h15min

I am flying in to ORD from Delhi by AI 127 at 1015 (T5) and need to catch AA flight at 1130 from T3. Is that doable? Provided that I check in my luggage and get the boarding pass from T5.

    1. Check first if Alitalia is willing to transfer bags to the American Airlines connecting flight - if not, you need to take your bag after customs control and check it in with T5 - taking extra time. 2. As an international arrival you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes). 3. thereafter, proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System and take the ATS train shuttle, running every few minutes, connecting to Terminal 3. If your arrival is on time and customs procedures will not take more than 50 mins, you will arrive at your connecting gate just fine. Note that Terminal 3 has Concourses G, H, K & L - all with corresponding gates (i.e., H1) - On arrival make sure you scan the overhead screens for your departure gate and time.

  • AA Check In at T5
    Jun 15, 2012

From the terminal information (maps, etc.) it is said that AA has only international arrivals at T5 of ORD. We are arrvg at T5 of ORD by AI 127 arr at 10:15 am and have to transit to T3 for AA flt 4089 dep at 1:35 pm. Considering that AI does not transfer baggage further at T5 would AA check in and collect baggage for the above flt at T5. Or we have to move to T3 with all baggage and check in at AA counters in T3 only. If so, what are the best transit options - train, taxi, bus, etc. We are two passengers are will have 4 check in baggage.

While shuttle trains take you from T5 to T3, I doubt that you would be able to take the bags onto the train. My suggestion is that you contact ORD at aviation@flychicago.com. Note also that volunteers in red T-shirts make their round in the terminals to assist passengers. To get information on customs clearance, and terminal layouts & connections, open www.ifly.com/ord & click on "Terminal Map" under "QUICK LINKS".

Dtr arrives from Munich T5 at 1820 and needs to get to T1 or 2 for Mnpls by 1945. Is this enough time? Does she need to go to baggage get her luggage, go to custums,go to check in again, then find T1/2 on the train to her gate and will this be enough time?

As an international arrival at ORD she needs to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes). This can take 40-50 mins. After exiting the Federal Inspection and luggage re-check areas, she needs to proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System where she can easily connect via ATS train to either terminals 1 or 2. The overhead screens will indicate her flight number and gate.
