  • SJC (San Jose, CA) to IAH to FRA (Frankfurt): 43 minutes in IAH?
    Aug 12, 2014
    1
Hi, Is 43 minutes enough time in IAH to switch from an incoming United flight from San Jose to an outbound United flight to Frankfurt? Thanks

Yes, it is enough time if your first flight is on-time but leaves little time for delays. You will arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E which is directly connected to C.

I am flying into ORD from CMH on United, a 55 minute layover, then a United flight to Cancun. Will I arrive & depart ORD from Terminal 1? I want to ensure that 55 minutes is sufficient time. On my return to Chicacgo, what will be my arrival terminal? The layover will be over 3 hours, so I shouldn't have any problems clearing customs, etc., and making my connecting flight back to CMH, right?

Your flight from CMH may arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. Terminals 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway. 55 minutes should be enough time if your flight from CMH is on-time. On your return, you will arrive in Terminal 5 where you will clear US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags with United. Then you will take the ATS train to Terminal 1 or 2 (check monitors before departing) and then go through security.

  • 1.5 Connecting Flight MNL-DTW-LIT

I have a connecting flight in DTW from MNL (via NGO) to LIT. Will 1.5 hrs be enough time to clear immigration/customs so i can catch my flight? This is via Delta.

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will go through US Immigration, collect your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage with Delta, go up to the departure level and go through security. Your departure gate to LIT will probably be on the B-concourse which is connected to the A concourse by an underground tunnel.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be enough time. All Delta gates are connected inside security.

Hi, I'm arriving with Delta from Amsterdam and catching a connected Delta flight to Montreal. I have 1:45 minutes between my flights, should this be enough? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time but leaves very little to spare as you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags, then go through security and take the Delta shuttle bus to T2 where your Montreal flight will depart. It leaves little to no time to spare for delays.

  • Moscow-Tampa via JFK

We fly from Moscow to JFK with Aeroflot, landing at T1 at 12:25. Our connecting Delta flight leaves from T2 at 14:59. Do we need to collect our luggage, or are they checked directly to Tampa? Do we have enough time to relocate to T2 given the passport control and stuff? Tickets were bought for all the way, i.e. Moscow-Tampa, and as I understood Aeroflot and Delta are partners. Any advice is appreciated!

In T1 you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags (even though they will be tagged to TPA in Moscow). You will then take the AirTrain to T2, go through security, and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time but not much to spare.

  • international to domestic

I'll be arriving at international terminal at 8pm from Manila via PAL and have a domestic flight to LasVegas with United at 10pm, is 2hrs enough to go thru immigration&customs and be at the United counter in the domestic terminal? And UA ticket states we have to be at the check-in counter 45min before which cuts our transfer time to 1.15hrs. Any tips on how to be faster to make it at the check-in counter on time? It is our first time in LAX.

It will be very very difficult. It is a good 20 minute walk to the United check-in counters, so you'll have to be out of customs 55 minutes after your plane is scheduled to arrive to make it on-time.

thank you for your insight, if we ride airport transportation would it be faster than 20min walking? Do we drop our luggage in TBIT United transfer desk or we drag it all the way with us to check-in at United Terminal 8?

At that time of night, the bus may be faster. You'll have to see how traffic is moving. I'm guessing it won't save you much time. If your bags are tagged through to LAS by PAL then you can drop them at the United transfer desk in the TBIT. Otherwise you will have to bring them with you to T7.

I asked PAL, they would not tag it thru LAS since my tickets are separate airline bookings, if i do online check-in and pre-print boarding pass and drop my luggage at curbside check-in, it might be faster? Where is the curbside checkin at TBIT? Your help is much appreciated

There is no curbside checkin at the TBIT. You'll have to take the bags with you to T7.

  • Enough Time

I need to know if I have enough time to get from UA 5387 to Alaska 157 if I arrive at LAX at 6:57 p.m. and depart on the Alaska flight at 7:45 p.m. I don't know where either airline is located. I will have checked my bag all the way when I depart San Luis Obispo for LAX.

You will arrive in Terminal 8 and depart from Terminal 6. They are connected inside security. However, you will absolutely have to check-in for your Alaska flight online before you leave on your United flight. This itinerary also leaves little to no time for any delays.

Thanks for the information. It was very helpful.

  • YYZ (Toronto) to DTW to SFO

Hi I have a 1 hr 10 min layover in DTW. Will I need to collect and re-check my luggage in once I get to Detroit? If so, is 1 hr enough time to make it to my connecting flight to SFO? Thanks!

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto. Your arrival into DTW will be like a domestic flight. If both flights are on Delta you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in the McNamara Terminal.

Is it possible to make a connection from Icelandair Fl631 arriving at 5:40pm to a usairways Fl224 leaving for Chicago at 7:55pm.

It will be very very difficult. First, note that your flight to Chicago will likely be operated by American. Secondly You will have to change terminals, re-check your bags, and go through security. It's possible if you don't have checked bags and you check in for your flight to Chicago before leaving Iceland, but will be very difficult any other way.

You'll arrive at terminal E, and depart from terminal B if US airways or American. I would think two hours should be plenty of time, especially if you've a) booked both flights on the same reservation, and b) check in online first. Bonus if you're US Global Entry. Might take too long if you have a 'suspicious' passport/visa from elsewhere. You'll need to clear US customs, get your bag, and leave it at the luggage desk at the customs exit -- IF your bags are checked all the way through. Then just catch a free shuttle to terminal B. They run often, and terminal B will be the 2nd stop (after terminal A.)

On my return flight from LAX (through PHL) I have 1h 35min to make my connecting flight to Edinburgh, will this be enough time and what is the procedure if for some reason I don't make the connecting flight due to queues in transfer or for another reason? Since the ticket is booked as a connecting flight, will I be transferred onto a different flight?

THere will be no queues. All you have to do in PHL when leaving the US is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will be connected beyond security. However, if you did miss your connection due to a delayed inbound flight you would be rebooked either on the flight the next day to EDI or on a later flight to Europe and then connect in Europe to EDI (there is only one PHL-EDI flight daily).

  • Jetblue to Delta luggage check through

Hi, we arrive at JFK terminal 5 with a Jetblue flight and we have connection with Delta flight at terminal 4. Is there a direct connection/shuttle inside secure area from T5 and T4? Is there an interline baggage agreement between Jetblue and Delta not to reclaim and recheck bags? Thanks!

There is no secure connector between T4 and T4. There is no interline baggage agreement between JetBlue and Delta. You will need at least 2 hours to make your transfer.

I am flying from Paris to Quebec with a stop in Philadelphia. My flight gets into Philadelphia at 13.40 at terminal A and leaves again at 15.10 from terminal F. both flights are with us airways....will I need to claim my luggage and check it in again after clearing customs? Is this enough time (1h30)? I have never done a connecting flight or been to Philadelphia airport. Are terminal A and F very far apart? Thank you very much

Yes, you will have to claim your baggage after US Immigration, go through US Customs, then re-check it with US Airways. Yes, it should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Terminal F is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus that runs inside security.

is 1.5 hours enough time to arrive by united at terminal c from florida and depart for edmonton at terminal c and if so where is the departure level in relation to the arrival level. Will i need to go through security again as i would have gone through it in florida.

Both of your flights are the same level. You do not have to go through security. You only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.
