  • 2 hours of transit time is it enough?
    Jun 18, 2012
    12
i would be arriving at ORD by AI 127 at 0725 hrs at terminal 5. I need to take a connecting flight (AA 4073) departure at termianl 3 at 0925 hrs. Will 2 hours of transit time enough to make it to terminal 3? How long would be the queue for immigration check at terminal 5 at that 0725 in the morning? How much time does it take to clear the immigration, collect baggage, collect boarding pass for connecting flight AA at terminal 5? After collecting the baggage and boarding pass should i take the ATS to reach terminal 3?

Two hours transfer time at ORD will be sufficient, even if your immigration /customs clearance process will take an hour (easily possible). Note that after exiting Federal Inspection & luggage re-check areas, proceed up one level at T5 to the Transit System and take the AS train, running every few minutes, to your connecting Terminal 3. Note that T3 has concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates. Your ticket and the overhead screens in the Terminals will indicate your connecting gate number. Caution: Do make sure that Alitalia is transferring your bags to Aerican airlines - not all airlines do.

AI 127 is an Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago, not Alitalia. Offcourse, I agree your comment on transferring bags does hold weight. Now, can anyone advice what if the bag transfer is not by the airline (here AI). What is the best course to move to T3. I am seeking this information for a visit scheduled by same flight arriving ORD on 11th July. Thanks and regards.

the bag transfer would not be done by the airliine AI. In my case i need to collect the baggage and check-in at the AA counter at the same terminal 5.

I have should have added this. The connecting flight is AA 4089 sch dep at 1:35 pm. Yes, the travelers are edlerly couple.

Thanks krishna g for ur reply. So after customs and immigration clearance of the baggage, the passengers would move on to check in at AA counter in the same terminal (T5) .. thereafter they could take transit train to T3 .. is this so even if the tkt is from AI for the final destination (i.e. including the AA leg) ..

yes it is. u r right.

    Thanks once again.

AI 127 lands at 10:15 am. Are you sure it is 7:25am??

yes. my journey is in aug. and AI 127 is scheduled to arrive ORD at 725 a.m.

AI has rescheduled on account of ongoing unrest .. at present they have released curtailed schedules only until 31st July for AI 127 .. it combines two routes to one - AI 127 instead of flying direct fr DEL to ORD it is now combined with AI 121 and operates in two legs DEL-FRA & FRA to ORD .. the same flight operates for both legs thereby extending the total duration by about 3 hours .. unless they regularize the schedules to as original (as in early May) the scheduled arrival is not likely to be 7:25 am .. as per current schedule which is effective till 31st July the arrival at ORD is at 10:15 am .. you may keep a watch on the updates for august at this website http://www.airindia.com/SBCMS/Webpages/reschedule-flights.aspx .. if the passengers are going further to ORD (which will be from either of T1/2/3 terminal) it is advised that they ensure there is at least 2 hours plus beyond 10:15 am for transit with other federal clearance and recheck in .. we have rescheduled our AA connection originally at 11:45 am to 1:35 pm now for this reason ..

dear avr@in.after your travel please let me know about the time it took for you to get to ur connecting flight.

    yeah certainly .. regards

  • Secuirity check?

Arrive on American in T1. Want to spend our 5 hour layover at the Delta Sky Club in T2. Then we will return to T1 for our international flight. As we are on connecting flights, will we need to allow time for security screening since we are going between terminals?

At ORD you have two choices to get from/to T2 to T1: (a) you can take the pedestrian tunnel and go through security check before proceeding to secured area; or (b) At T2, the secured area of the Departures level, has, right after you walk from gate F8 past gate F1, at right end a connector to T1. At T1 you will arrive again in the secured area, where you should proceed to closeby gate B6, walk past gate B8 (at right), take walkway to C gates, turn left to gate C15.

  • Shuttle from T2 - E to T1-C?
    Jun 7, 2012

I read somewhere there is a shuttle from Term 2, around gate E3 that leaves every few minutes to Term 1, Gate C8. Is this correct?

At ORD Terminal 2, the secured area of the Departures level, has, right after you walk from gate F8 past gate F1, at right end a connector to T1. At T1 you will arrive again in the secured area, where you should proceed to closeby gate B6, walk past gate B8 (at right), take walkway to C gates, turn left towards gate C15. You can also use the ATS train, which comes around every few mins.

I will be arriving LAX with Frontier and departure with China Eastern. Do I have to take care of the baggage during the tranfer? Do I have to go through the security check again?

    1. You need to contact Frontier to find out if they will transfer your bags - if not, you need to claim your bag on arrival and take it with you on the bus to your connecting terminal, where you need to check it in with China Eastern. 2. Frontier is in Terminal 6, while China Eastern is in the Bradley Terminal (a/k/a TBIT or TB). 3. In either case, you need to exit T6 and board the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island (in front of each terminal), under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Your next stops will be T7, T8, T1, T2, T3 & TBIT - 6 stops or 15 mins. At TBIT you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate (left gates 101-106, right gates 119-123).

I am arriving 6/10 at 3pm in terminal C...my daughter is departing at 6:35pm from terminal A is there a way I can get there without leaving the "secured" area? Once I leave I don't think I can get back in. i.e. you can do this from B to C terminals.

At PHL, all Termminals, except TF, are connected at post-security by moving walkways.

We will be coming from Florence Italy into Term 2G we will depart 1hour and 25 min. later to Boston from Term 2G. Is that enough time to clear customs and get to Term 2G???? Thank you

At CDG, you have enough time to transfer as arrivals & departures are in the same Terminal. At Boston, you need to go through passport control, pick up bags, & go through customs clearance before heading for the terminal exit.

  • Getting to the Delta Crown Room
    Jun 7, 2012

My Mother is flying from San Jose to LAX on Continental/United & has an 8 hr. wait until flying to EWR. I'm not sure what terminal she will be arriving in, it looks to be T6, 7 or 8. I want to get her to T5 (Crown Room). Is there an easy way & will she have to go through security to do this?

    1. There is no Continental any more - merged into United, which uses Terminals 6, 7 & 8 - T6 has gates 60-69; T7 7077; T8 80-88. 2. T5 has access to Delta Crown Room Club by stairway (next to McDonald's) - you have to make sure that your mother can use this facility, as she is flying with United. T5, 6 & 7 are connected by an underground tunnel; T7 & T8 connect by walkway. In either case she will have to leave the secured area and when returning to departure terminal go through security check again.

Is posible to travel from Bradly terminal to terminal 7 and stay after security? And what about my suitcases? ( i fly from Frankfurt-LaX- Honolulu)

    1. As an international arrival at LAX, you need to go through passport control, pick up your bag, go though security clearance and re-check-in your bag. Do make sure before departure that your first airline transfers your bags automatically at LAX to your connecting airline - not all airlines do - in which case you would need to claim your bag, exit Bradley terminal, take a taxi to T7 - as the bus would not accommodate more than 1 bag. 2. If your airline transfers bags, you exit Bradley terminal and board the blue-marked LAX bus route A on lower arrivals level island in front of TBIT, under sign "LAX Shuttle Airline Connection", which runs every 12-15 mins, making its first stop at T4, proceeding to T7 - 4 stops or 10 mins. At T7 you need to go through security check before proceeding on to your gate.

  • Atl- Gate B33 to Internation Terminal

How will I get from Gate B33 to the International Terminal in less than 45 minutes?????

First of all note: Arriving at ATL from a domestic flight & transferring to an international flight - you can only transfer in the described way below if your original airline transfers bags to your departing airline's gate; if not, you need to pick up bags and take a shuttle bus to the new Maynard Jackson Terminal, where you need to check in your bags again. You arrive at Terminal 3, gate area 19-36 - between this gateway and gateway B17-B1 is the escalator/elevator down to the Plain Train, connecting all concourses and baggage claim areas: Look at your ticket and on arrival at overhead screens to find your connecting flight and gate number - it would be either at Concourse F or E. (F gates 14 to 1; E gate 11-1,26-37 & 14-18. 45 mins is enough time for transfer without baggage recheck.

I have a 45 minute connection at LAX between a Skywest flight and a Delta flight. Will they both be served by the Delta terminal? Can I make a connection that close?

LAX did not specify Skywest location; however, look at your ticket to see what gate you arrive at / depart from: Delta is in Terminal 5 with gates 50-69; if your connecting flight is from another terminal - open www.ifly.com/las and click on Quick Links' "Terminal Map" - moving screen below the map will give you each terminal's gates and transfer options.

After finding the luggage and clear the custom, do we need take the luggage to the public hall to the connecting C gate? In another words, after claim luggage and clear the custom, do we need to recheck the luggage in before proceeding transfer gate?

YVR rules: If your flight originated in the US and you have to take connecting flight to an international destination you can (i) go to the special international connections customs counter, should your airline offer the option of automatic transfer of your luggage; or (ii) pick up your luggage from the carousel, follow international arrivals procedures and then US departures procedures – if your airline doesn't offer automatic transfer of your baggage. - If your connecting flight is by another airline, you need to make sure that your first airline will transfer bags.

Will one and half hour be enough to process the transfer from YVR to YYZ(Toronto)?
