  • Layover time

My mother will be flying into Detroit via Delta with a 50 minute layover leaving via Delta Connection. She will be require wheelchair assistance. Will this be enough time?

When making airline reservations it is expedient to state special needs, including wheelchair assistance. If that is too late, I suggest you ask the flight attendant to contact your Delta desk at DTW to arrange for Skycap service.

  • its time enough to arrive the terminl?

Hi. My english is not so good, sorry I fly from frankfurt germny over atlanta to mineapolis. I am landing on 15.12.12 at 2:45 afternoon on Terminal I and I fly from your airport on Terminal S at 4:10 afternonn to Mineapolis. now my question is: Is that time enough to arived the Terminal S on 4:10? I will not standing on the Terminal and my plain is away without me. is terminal I far away from terminal S? and have i enough time to arrive terminal S whith all the checks (passport, safty) and the way to the next terminal? and what is, when i dont arrived the plain to the right time? must i payfor an other fly or do the flycompany book the next fly for me? Thanks for the hlp. sincerly Rene

    1. First of all let me assure you that you have enough time between transfers. However, make sure that you find out from your first airline if it will transfer your bags to the second airline, in case you use different airlines - if not, you need, on arrival, take your bag and check it in at the South Terminal's connecting airline desk. Also find out the airline rules about baggage and fees. Your passport needs to be valid at least 6 months after arriving at the U.S., if not, get a new passport quickly. 2. On arrival at ATL at the International Terminal, its Concourses E or F have separate immigration & customs checkpoints. While passengers arriving at Concourse F will go through customs clearance (CBP) at this concourse, regardless if connecting to other flights or not - Arrivals at Concourse E who need to connect to another flight will be processed right there. 3. Arriving from an international flight & transferring to a domestic flight: After going through International Arrivals customs clearance procedure, follow signs to the 'Plane Train' serving all concourses in the center of their gate arrangements. Also, the Terminal Connector Shuttle located outside the Arrivals level takes you to the Domestic Terminal - a 12-minute ride. Your connecting flight is in the (domestic) South Terminal.

What terminal does Air France fly from at FCO to Paris and then on to the USA?

At FCO, Air France uses Terminal 1.

  • coonecting from AA to TAM

Can I go from the AA gates to get a TAM flight withing two hour. and will I have to go through security again. - Thanks so much

At MIA, assuming that you are a domestic arrival with AA, you arrive at the North Terminal's Concourse D (the D gates are a mile long and use the elevated Skytrain with four stations between the east & west gates D17 & D46), To get to your connecting South Terminal, Concourse J (TAM uses J gates) you need to take the Skyride Connector, connecting all 3 terminals on level 3. Signs will clearly guide you - You will need to go through security check (Concourse J is at the left end with gates J2-18. you have enough time. Caution: make sure AA transfers your bags to TAM - if not, you need to claim your bag on arrival and check it in at the South Terminal's TAM counter.

  • Can I make TBIT to Terminal 4 in 2 hrs?
    Oct 1, 2012
    1
My trip is Sydney-Los Angeles-Orlando...arriving on Qantas to TBIT (Terminal B), then have only 2 hrs before I have to leave from Terminal 4 on American for Florida. Will I get my checked bag and go thru Customs then check it in again? How do I get from TBIT to Customs to Terminal 4? The 12-15 min for shuttle bus I'm reading about seems like a long time, better to walk/run? Would like to know if this is a nail-chewing, hectic deal time-wise or no biggie. Thank you experienced travelers!

    1. You need to contact Qantas to make sure they transfer your bags at LAX to your connecting American Airlines flight - if not you need to take your bag to Terminal 4 and re-check it in with AA. 2. Qantas is listed as being in Terminals 4 (gates 42-49) and the International Bradley terminal ("TBIT" or TB" - gates 107-123) - you ticket should indicate terminal/ gate. If arriving at T4, Qantas bus will shuttle you to TBIT for Customs procedure. 3. When exiting T4, TBIT is to your left around the bend, a 5-minute walk (the bus goes the other way (TBIT to T4-T8 over to T1-T3, back to TBIT). Whether you need to re-check-in your bag at T4 or go straight on through security and on to your gate - you have enough time.

At ATL Airport, all Concourses - domestic & international - are connected by the underground 'Plane Train' stopping at the center of each Concourse. Delta uses Concourses (with corresponding gates) A - D and International Concourse E. Hurry!

  • Connection to Paris
    Sep 30, 2012

Hi. I am arriving at FRA at 8:25am by LH755 (from BLR, India) and having a connecting flight to Paris at 9:35am LH1030. Which gate does LH755 arrive at and how far is the departure gate of LH1030? What are my chances to make the connection in such a short duration? Any tips to reach the departure gate in quickest possible time?

You arrive and depart from the same Terminal 1 - Lufthansa uses Pier A (gates A1-42 & Z11-26) and Pier B (gates B1-B63) - the overhead screens on arrival & your ticket should indicate connecting gate - you need to go through non-Schengen (foreign) passport before proceeding to your connecting gate: you can use either the transfer tunnel outside security, or the SkyLine train inside security, which leaves every 2-3 mins. You have enough time!

  • Transfer from BA to Easyjet
    Sep 30, 2012

We are flying from LAX into FCO with a BA ticket and then a separate ticket with Easyjet. one hour and 15 min between arrival and departure. Will we be able to check luggage all the way through? Do we have enough time to make the connection 19:35 pm to 20:50 pm?

You arrive at FCO Airport via BA at Terminal 3, which as D, G & H gates a will need to depart via EasyJet at Terminal 3, which has C gates. At T3 you need to go through non-Schengen (foreign) passport check. The terminal layout is such that Terminal 1 & 2 are on one side of the Control tower and Terminal 3 on the other side. As you have separate tickets, you need to collect your bags at T3 and walk over to T2, where you re-check-in your bags, then go through security check & on to your gate. There is no time to waste!

  • Transfer from United to Lufthansa

I am flying into IAD on united changing planes to get on a lufthansa flight. Will i have to get my bag and then recheck into Lufthansa? Or will my bag automatically be transferred over?

You need to contact United to find out whether they will transfer your bags to Lufthansa - if not, you need to claim your bags on arrival & take them to the Lufthansa check-in counter. (Lufthansa is in Concourse B).

  • How to get to International Terminal
    Sep 29, 2012
    1
My sister will be traveling next week thru ATL; her United flight from IAH will arrive at N according to her ticket (check of arrivals for today indicate flight arrived at D8A); her departure is from "I" which I assume is International with Westjet to YYZ Can someone advise the easiest way to get from her arrival gate to the departure gate. Her connection time is only 58 minutes.

Your sister seems to Arrive at the North Terminal (N gates) and will depart from the new International Terminal, either at gates F or E. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/atl and click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS, then scroll down to the detailed text for terminals & connections.

  • transfer of luggage to Ethihad
    Oct 3, 2012

I need to travel by Ethihad from Chicago. I am taking a seperate flight ticket from Detroit to Chicago. Would United/Delta transfer my luggage to Ethihad? can this be done in DTW or does this have to be done i Chicago, since I bought 2 seprate tkts - 1 for domestic and 1 for international?

With two separate tickets you will need to contact your first airline (which one? -United is at T1 & T2 or Delta at T2) if it would transfer your bags at ORD to your Etihad flight at T5 - if not you need to take bags and re-check them in at the terminal of Etihad (T5).

Nope, they won't transfer the luggages. Etihad's codeshare partner is American Airlines, so if it is a different domestic carrier then you need to collect the baggages from the respective terminal and check in at Terminal 5 (for International travel). In your case, you need it to carry it from Terminal 1 (United) to Terminal 5 (International Terminal) and check in the baggages.

  • Connection time

I am flying in from Indianapolis arriving at 16:10 with UA 3536 and need to get an international flight to Frankfurt (UA 916) leaving at 17:15. Is one hour and five minutes enough for the connection? Thanks for information

    1. United uses Midfield Concourses A, B, C & D (with corresponding gates) Your ticket or the overhead screen on arrival will indicate your connecting Concourse & gate number. 2. Arriving passengers need to follow signs 'TO BAGGAGE CLAIM / GROUND TRANSPORTATION'; domestic arrivals at A, B or C gates should follow the AeroTrain sign, which runs in a continuous loop from the main terminal's post-security area to the center of the midfield concourses A/B and C/D, takes minutes, but presently does not serve the D gates; it can be used for the following gates: A1-32, B35-79, and C1-30. The Mobile Lounge shutttle from Main Terminal or A gates will take you to gates D1-32 gates. Either way, you have enough time.

My friend is flying is flying to India his schdukle is cmh- JFK(Terminal 8) then jfk(terminal 7 ) to india.. he has a gap of 4 hours in between..is it possible for me to meet him in terminal 7 ...and do i need to get anythign for that?/...Please help

You can only meet in the unsecured area of either terminal (before security check). Best place to meet up is near the information counter in the Arrivals /baggage claim area. Your friend needs to know whether his arriving airline will transfer his bags to the departing airline - if not, he needs to re-check-in his bags at T7 (and make sure he has a boarding pass for T7 departure).

  • Southwest gates to United gates
    Sep 27, 2012

What is the fastest way to get from Southwest to United gates? Can this be done without going through security again?

You will arrive via Southwest at LAS, Terminal 1, at either the B or C Concourse /gate (note that the long C concourse is served by a tram). Proceed to the baggage claim area (if SW does not transfer bags to UA airlines, you need to pick up bag & take it along to T3)- outside baggage claim is the shuttle bus to Terminal 3 (the international terminal). On arrival at T3 (if you need to re-check in bags with United, go first to the departure level to do so) then go through security check and on to your gate. Again, the D gates of T3 are long and served by D-Tram. Overhead screens will tell you flight & gate number.

  • International to Domestic in 1 hr 30 min

My flight arrives from London at 7:25 pm at terminal 3, and my connecting flights departs at 9:00 pm from terminal 1, I think(I'm flying AA). Is that enough time to clear immigration, customs and a security check?

On arrival at ORD you will arrive at the International Terminal 5 at M gates - not T3! After exiting the Federal Inspection and luggage re-check areas, proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System. The freeATS shuttle train runs every few minutes between Terminal 5's ATS level nd domestic terminal 3, your AA connection. T3 has gates areas G through L. You have enough of time.
