  • time to get thru security
    May 30, 2013
We are flying out at 6:45 am on a Tuesday. In order to minimize costs we would like to take an express bus but it doesn't get to the terminal until 5:42 am, will there be enough time to get thru security? We will not be checking bags & will have already checked in for our flight via online 24 hours prior.

    You will have enough time.

I'm traveling from CVG to ORD by AA. After 2 hours, I'll go from ORD to DOH by Qatar Airways. Am I going to claim my baggage in this connection?

Most likely you need to claim & re-check-in your bag as AA is, but Qatar is not yet (but by year-end or early '14) member of the Oneworld alliance - but check with AA. You arrive at ORD at Terminal 3 (T3) and depart from T5.

You have a choice of taking the tunnel connecting all terminals or the ATS train, but need to go through security check at T5 and on to your connecting M gate.

  • Connecting time T3 to T1 Alitalia to AF
    May 30, 2013
I have a proposed trip arriving Alitalia from LAX and connecing to AF/Alitalia code share to France. Arrive T3, depart T1 with only 50 minutes! is this enough time??

You did not state which Airport you arrive at /depart from. 50 mins is a very tight schedule as you need to go through non-Schengen (foreign arrivals) procedure and change terminals, not to mention possibility of flight delay.

  • Transfer BRU - JFK - MCO
    May 30, 2013
Travelling from Brussels to JFK on the 7th of june with DELTA 141. probably arriving at T4 at 1pm. then connecting to Orlando on DELTA 4 at 4pm. enough time? do i need to claim Luggage and recheck them in?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will claim your baggage in immigration and then immediately re-check it with Delta once you leave customs.

  • International Transit

I have a friend coming on US Air from Germany connecting with US Air Express (Terminal F) for Toronto with limited knowledge of English language. He has two hours and 15 minutes to make it, if flight does not get delayed. I have read from others about the process and I am writing to him detailed instructions. Can someone please tell me exactly where in the baggage re-check is located after custom clearance in Terminal A. Also what will be the quickest way (escalator up or down? and where) for him to reach Gate A1 for the shuttle. I really appreciate help.

All international arrivals at PHL are processed in Terminal A-West (TA-West(which shares ticketing level with TA-East). From stepping off the plane until going through customs clearance, he will follow all other passengers: After going through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance - for baggage re-check follow signs to baggage re-check and to US Airways shuttle (easy to recognize). The US Airways shuttle leaves at gate A1, taking him to gate F14 of Terminal F, which hasConcourses 1 with gates F1-F9, Concourse 3 with gates F24-39, and Concourse 2 with gates F10-23. He has plenty of time for transfer.

    Thank you so much.

  • JFK to CPH to IST
    May 29, 2013
hello... i am planning a trip to visit both copenhagen and istanbul, and instead of buying a multi-destination ticket, i am buying both legs separately from eachother. i have never flown into CPH and am curious about what to expect during the transfer from my first flight from NYC to my flight to IST...more specifically, how much time should i give myself in between flights to ensure i don't run a risk of missing my second departure? i am planning on checking bags. thanks!

  • Sorry
    Jun 6, 2013
Sorry, I got the terminals mixed up. I am arriving form PDX at SFO terminal 3 and leaving from terminal 1 to Paris. It looks like you can walk there without going through security. Is 45 minutes enough?

Your flight to Paris will depart from the International terminal G gates. You can walk from terminal 3 to the International terminal on the secure side.

  • 45 min connection time enough?

I am flying from PDX to SFO terminal 1 and connecting to Paris at terminal 3. Both flights are United. Is 45 minutes enough time? Do you have to go through security?

  • China-JFK-FLL
    Jun 1, 2013
Hi there, Our schedule is PVG(Shianghai)-JFK-FLL. We will fly with China Eastern to JFK Terminal 1 and move to terminal 4 Delta. Time to arrive is 1:15 pm and depart 3:40 pm . 2.25 hrs transit time enough for JFK?? or unrealistic? Thanks!

You have enough time. On arrival at JFK, you need to go through security check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bags. Check with China Eastern whether they will transfer your bags to Delta flight; if not, you need to take your bags along and check them in at your connecting terminal's Delta counter. The 'Airline Terminals Train' runs on average every 8 mins from T1 (making stops at: T8, T7, T5 & T4) in the unsecured terminal areas. On arrival at your connecting terminal you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. IMPORTANT: Do check with Delta, which - as of May 24, used the newly expanded T4 only for flights to Amsterdam, NL, Georgetown, Guyana, St. Georges, Grenada & San Juan, P.R. - and all others at either T2 or T3.

    Thank you, wemay13 :)

Note that there are no more flights from Terminal 3, it is closed. All Delta flights now used 2 or 4.

Thank you for your advice, ZAP! I'll note that.

Is there an actual bank or somewhere that I can trade $20 bills in for $1 bills? I will need ones for Mexico, and won't have a chance to stop at an open bank before I get to the airport.

  • 3 hr layover

I fly in on KLM from US, connecting flight to Istanbul on KLM. Will I have to change terminals? Also if I buy food or shop, do I have to exchange funds to Euro's or can I use US currency?

AMS has one large terminal. As a 'non-Schengen' (foreign) arrival at AMS you need to go through non-Schengen passport control; all passengers need to poceed to the baggage belts in the baggage hall (ground level), claim their bags & go through Customs for security check. If you have nothing to declare proceed to the arrivals hall through the green passageway. In the Arrivals Hall are several catering establishments. (I presume that shops/restaurants accept US currency). The departures level has restaurants & shops in the secured areas and leads to Concourses B-C, D, E, F, G, & H/M (C & B gates are connected, H & M gates are on opposite side of the concourse.)
