  • Near-Crazy BOS->IAD to IAD-> NRT Connection Time
    Aug 8, 2014

Hello. UA originally booked me with only a 64-minute connection for BOS->IAD->NRT to start an award vacation. The "legal" minimum is 45 minutes. Yes, it was barely a "legal" connection, but requires my 1st flight arrive at the gate early or exactly on time. Not something one counts on for morning BOS->IAD flights. There is one earlier flight almost 4 hours earlier at the ungodly hour of 5:50a, creating almost a 5-hour IAD layover! Based on some online comments months back, I rebooked to that flight since there are no later UA NRT flights if the connection is missed, esp. on an FC reward. The 5:50a equipment has been upgraded, thereby slightly increasing the layover, so now I'm reconsidering. Unfortunately, there's no sleeping area in the IAD GlobalFirst Lounge! Thoughts and advice? Thank you!

I'm travelling with KLM from Edinburgh to Amsterdam at 6am then on to San Francisco 9.50. 2 adults 2 children will 1hr 15mins transfer time be ok? Will we go through passport control?

Since both flights are non-schengen you will not go through passport control. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security. You should have enough time.

I am flying from ORD to JFK on 9/19/14 into Terminal 2 and leaving from Terminal 4 to head to Barcelona. I have 1.5 hrs. between flights. Is this enough time? Is there a way to avoid going back through security?

Yes, that should be enough time. Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security between their gates in T2 and T4.

We are flying KLM not Delta. Do only ticketed Delta passengers get to ride the shuttle?

KLM does not fly between ORD and JFK or JFK and Barcelona. Your flights are on Delta.

We are flying thru Detroit with a 54 minlayover (domestic flights). Is this enough time? Both flights are on Delta. Thanks.

Yes, that should be plenty of time if your first flight is on time. All Delta flights at DTW are in the McNamara Terminal and connected inside security.

flying into atlanta from pensacola, then connectiing to go to paris. to I pick up luggage to take to international airport to go through customs? or is the bagggage transfered to international automatically

No, you do not have to go through customs when you leave the United States. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security.

get a flight from Israel to Terminal B and I have to continue to San Francisco Terminal 3 How do I get and how long it takes

The fastest way from the International Terminal to Terminal 3 is to walk. You walk to the left as you exit the international terminal. It's maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk.

CAN I BOOK THE BAGGAGE STRAIGHT THROUGH TO TORONTO OR DO I HAVE TO COLLECT MY BAGGAGE AND GO THROUGH PASSPORT CONTROL AND RECHECK MY BAGGAGE IN AGAIN? PLEASE ADVISE? THANKS

Yes, that should be enough time. No, you cannot book your baggage straight through. You will have to claim it, go through Customs, then take your baggage to the departure level to check it with Porter.

  • What is minimum time for connecting flight (international arrival)

Hi I have a through ticket with Delta, who have just amended flight times, so now arrive from LHR on DL36 at 15.21 hours then depart on DL2237 at 17.20 to HNL. Is this enough time to clear customs/immigration and is the Delta flight to HNL from the same terminal? How long will it take to travel from immigration to the departure gate for HNL and what happens re checked baggage? Thanks..

Yes, 2 hours should still be plenty of time. You will re-check your baggage immediately after you clear customs in the basement of the S-Satellite, before you go through security.

Thanks so much for the information.

Hi, will I have enough time to do the immigration and customs, if I have less than 2 hrs. connecting time? I'm coming from AMS with DL (5:00 pm) and have an onward flight to LAS (6:55pm) with SkyWest. Thanks in advance!

Yes, that should be enough time.

    Thank you!

Scheduled to arrive at IAD on Virgin Atlantic from LHR at 2:50 pm, if no delays, and depart on a United flight to SAN at 5:15 pm. Supposed to have priority baggage handling, but that might mean nothing. Also have global entry. Is this enough time to clear customs, re-check bags and make SAN flight connection? Thanks.f

Yes, I think that will be enough time.

  • Transfer from Terminal 5 to Terminal 4

I am arriving from Buffalo by Jet Blue at terminal 5 and have connection on Emirates flight from terminal 4, how do i go from terminal 5 to terminal 4 with my luggage? How much time is required for the transfer?

The AirTrain connects the terminals. However, be aware that JetBlue and Emirates have an interline baggage agreement and JetBlue may check your bags through to Emirates in Buffalo, meaning then you would not nave to take your bags with you on the AirTrain. I would allow a minimum of 2 hours for your transfer.

  • Singapore To CDG Terminal and Connection AF 7662 To Marseille

I will be arriving CDG Terminal 1 from Singapore by SQ Flight. Do I need to collect my luggages and go through Custom again when I take my connection flight AF 7662 to Marseille at CDG Terminal 2F ? I only have 2 hrs between my connection, it is sufficient ? Thanks.

Were your tickets purchased together or separately. If purchased together you will not have to claim them in CDG, they will go directly to Marseille. If separately you will have to claim them, go through customs, and then re-check them with Air France.

I will be flying from New Orleans to Houston on flight UA1741 arriving on Monday, November 10th at 8:21am. My connecting flight (UA701) leaves for San Francisco at 10:00 am. Is 39 minutes really enough time to make the connecting flight?

Did you mistype? It looks like you have 1 hr 39 mins. Also, yes, you should have enough time even if it's only 39 minutes. Both flights will likely be in Terminal C.

KLM flight from SFO to AMS to KLM. We have 50 min. between flights. Will we have enough time? Do we have to go through customs or where do we go to catch the next flight? Are the KLM arrivals and departures in the same terminal?

What is your destination? KLM is an airline, not a destination. All KLM flights at AMS are in the same terminal.

  • Airport Marriott (B/C) to Terminal A-West

First time in an airport. Staying overnight at Airport Marriott to catch early morning flight. How do I get from Airport Marriott to Terminal A-West? Do I have to go outside and catch shuttle or can I do walk it from inside? How long does it take?

I see US Airways also has a check-in at Terminal B/C? Can I check-in there with luggage for a flight leaving out of Terminal A-West. Then go though security and take the walkways to Terminal A-West?
