  • Quick Visit

I am flying though O'Hare with about 3 hours layover. Trying to do a quick visit and meal with a family member; what are the options outside of security?

Open www.ifly.com/ord, then click on "ORD Airport Services" under QUICK LINKS & choose "Restaurants & Stores"

I tried that, terminal 3 restaurants all say after security. It will be difficult for me to have a meal with a family that lives in Chicago I guess we can just sit somewhere and talk

Any idea when construction will be complete? Making a connection from Terminal D to Terminal C on March 18th with two children. is two hours enough time?

On arrival at TD, exit terminal & catch the shuttle bus Route A in front of the arrivals level to TC; the bus runs every 10-15 mins. At LGA, TC is presently adding restaurants & eateries & overhaul of Sky Club; TD & TC will be connected by a foot bridge. Both C & D get expanded security lanes - all within the 'next few months'. • Transfer between Concourse H and C

I am arriving on Spirit airlines in Term 4 Concourse H at 9:30am. I depart FLL at 11:10am on Airtran. How long will it take me to go from point A to point B??

I depart Concourse C on Airtran at 11:10am. How much time do I need??

Is your Spirit arrival domestic or international? Are you checking a bag? If it's international and you're checking a bag I think it will be really tight. If it's domestic and you just have carry ons, it will be doable.

Domestic with carry on. Do you know the quickest way to get to Con C from Con H? Thanks for you help.

You have enough of time! You arrive at Terminal 1, Concourse C; go down to the lower level of the terminal entrance/exit & catch the free shuttle bus to your connecting Terminal 4, where you need to go through security check and on to Concourse H (gates H1-H10).

You can walk around the Curbside dropoff area but it's a pretty long walk. There's also a shuttle that runs between all the terminals that operates on the lower level (runs 6 AM to 9 PM).

sin-sfo arrv 12:45pm SQ....connect on Frontier dep 2:35pm..Is there enough time to make it to immigr/customs and hv time to check in to frontier.

You arrive at the International Terminal (IT or TI) where you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag: Onward passengers will exit Arrivals Hall through dedicated doors indicating 'Connecting Flights', where they will re-check in bags at the baggage desk directly outside of the exit. However, if you need to take your bags along to check them in with Frontier, you may have a problem time-wise. Your connecting flight with Frontier is in Terminal 1, which has Boarding Area B (gates 20-39). The Blue-line of the AirTrain (automated people mover) serves all terminals, making a continuous loop and taking only minutes between stops. On arrival at T1 you need to go though security check before proceeding to your gate.

I fly into O'Hare on Spirit and then fly out on American Eagle. I have to collect baggage and re-ticket, will I be able to get to American ticket counter from baggage claim area?

All you have to do is go up the escalator from the baggage claim level to the ticketing level of Terminal 3.

  • Baggage Change from United to Express?
    Feb 24, 2013

We will arrive in Terminal 1 on United with 1 hr 46 min to switch to Terminal 2 for a United Express flight. Do we need to do anything with our baggage because of the switch and if so, how does that work and will we have enough time?

As both flights are United flights you won't have to worry about your bags. On arrival at ORD, jst follow signs to the ATS train, which runs every few minutes between the terminals. Terminal 2 has Concourses E & F with corresponding gates. The screens above will show you flight & gate numbers.

That is incorrect - Do NOT take the ATS between T1 and T2. You can easily walk between the two. Taking the ATS will mean you will have to go through security again, which isn't necessary if you walk. You have plenty of time.

  • 30 Min Layover in 7

We're flying from Hawaii to Chicago with only 30 minutes at LAX. We're flying into 7 and out of 7 so it should be simple enough but we've never been to LAX. Will that be enough time and do we have to deal with any security procedures or anything like that to slow us down? We shouldn't have to transfer bags since they're both United flights, but any advice would be great.

On arrival at LAX, at Terminal 7, which has gates 70A-71B, 72 & 73 & 74A-77B - just follow signs - you have enough time.

I have a 46 min layover and the flight lands at Terminal 2. Departing flight departs from Terminal 3, no info on the gates yet. Is this enough time and how far apart are terminals 2 & 3?

On arrival at ORD, at Terminal 2, you can take the ATS shuttle train, which runs every few minutes between Terminal 5 and domestic terminals 1, 2 & 3; however, you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Note that T3 has four concourses - G, H, K & L - all with corresponding gates. 46 mins. is very tight.

DO NOT take the ATS train, you will have to go through security again if you do. You can instead simply walk from T2 to T3 beyond security. However, a T2 to T3 connection is very rare, considering that T2 is United Express, Air Canada, Delta, and US Airways, while T3 is American, Virgin America, JetBlue, WestJet, Air Choice One, and Spirit. Are you sure you need to connect from T2 to T3?

Sorry I was wrong, it is a T2 to T1 connection. The airliner is United and I'm arriving from GRR and departing to SFO. You recommend to walk still and again will this be enough time?

Yes. It is very easy to walk between T2 and T1. Also some GRR united express flights use terminal 1.

Coming on US airway from Frankfurt , changing plane in Philadelfia and going to Los Angeles also on US air, Do I need to go thru security check again after passport control and baggage claim?

You arrive from Terminal A-West and will depart from Terminal A-East with gates A1-A13. After customs & baggage re-check, use the connector at opposite side to TA-East, where you will need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate.

I am flying in from Richmond (on United Express) and flying out to Tampa (on United). Any idea if they will be in the same concourse? If not, should I be okay in terms of time?

Your RIC-IAD flight will arrive in Concourse A and your flight to Tampa will depart from Concourse C or D. Take the Aerotrain if it's from C and the shuttle if it's from D. You should be OK on time if your flight from Richmond is on time.

Is one hour between arrival time at terminal 2 and departure at terminal 3 enough to make it.

You can either walk or take the free shuttle bus outside; at T3 you need to go through security check. For more information open www.ifly.com/fll, then then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • How long to clear immigration?

How long does it take at O"Hare from the time a plane lands (from Manchester) to clear immigration and walk out the arrival door?

It depends on what runway you land on and how soon you're able to get off the aircraft, but usually somewhere between 20-50 minutes with I'd say about 35-40 being normal.

how long is walk from C gates to Terminal E gates & if I'm connecting on UAL flight do I go through security?

At IAH, the above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, connects terminals A, B, C, D/E inside security and runs a continuous loop. You can also walk Between C & E gates - I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iah then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.
