  • Early Morning Sercurity Delay

Early morning security lines are now extremely long. We flew out at 6:25 on 5/17/12 and had to wait approximately 40 minutes. The line starts below the escalators & continues upstairs. The rumor is that if you fly out after 7 am this is not at issue.

  • Connecting time

We are planning a trip that will include a connection in Houston. Both flights are domestic. Will 1 hour 49 minutes be enough time to make the connection?

    1. You have plenty of time. However, as your airline arrival & departure may be in different terminals (domestic termals A, B & C), I suggest you open www.ifly.com/iah and click on Quick Links' "Terminal Map" - under the map you find details terminal and transfer information. Look at your ticket to see which gates you arrive/ depart from (i.e., A17).

We will be arriving at Ohare on a domestic flight at 7:05 A.M. and will be getting on a connecting flight to Vancouver Canada at 8:05. Do we go through customs before bording our Vancouver flight and where would we do that?

Only international arrivals in the U.S., other than from certain Canadian & Caribbean airports - Vancouver being one of them - need to go through customs clearance. Your arrival & departure at ORD depends on the airlines you take. Open www.ifly.com/ord and click on the Quick Links /Terminal Map. Below the map are terminal details & how to connect. Under "Flights" in the top row click on Airlines Served. Your ticket and the overhead screen on arrival at ORD will show you your flight number and gate.

I would like to know exactly where to meet up with my cruise shuttle for the NCL cruise. I will be flying United.

You arrive at La Guardia Airport in the Central Terminal: Termial B (The Central Terminal) has an Arrivals level with baggage claim, a food court in the center, and transportation information booths at either side.

What gates or terminal is US AIr express using atPHL

At PHL, US Airways Express is in Terminal F, which has concourses 1 with gates F1-F9 & leads to the left to Concourse 3 with gates F24-F39, and to the right to Concourse 2 with gates F10-F23.

I'm flying Southwest terminal A, however I'd like to use the Delta Lounge in terminal B. Would I have to go through security again once I leave the lounge?

Both Terminals A & B are not close together, but connected by Airtrain, which stops close to Gateway A2 and arrives close to gateway B2. STATIONS ARE LOCATED POST-SECURITY. No need t go through security check.

I depart from Arkansas AA1884 Flight and arrive at Terminal D(Lufthansa). Pls let me know Which terminal used for immigration(Passport Check), Retrieve check bags(Terminal#?), Is 1 Hr suffice ? Thanks

Your domestic flight into DFW will arrive either at Terminal B (TB) (American Eagle) or TA Or TC (American). Your Lufthansa flight departs from TD. Only international arrivals in the U.S. need to go through customs clearance procedure. Look at your ticket to see which gate you arrive at (A, B or C gates + number). If arriving at B gates, you can walk - past gate 1 - to gates D1-40 (left). Or take the Skylink train from your arrival concourse to TD - just follow signs.

  • 30 mins between flights

I hold a US passport. I'm flying into AMS and have 30 mins before my flight to Paris - do I have to go through customs.. do I have enough time

Hardly! You are considered on arrival at AMS as 'non-Schengen' traveler - meaning you need to go through their customs clearance. This can take at least 30 mins. - Then you have to get to your connecting gate AMS is huge! I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ams and click on Quick Links/ Terminal Map - also read details below the map to get an idea of the airport layout, etc.

I arrive at IAH at terminal A at 6:41 PM on United flight 8162. My connecting flight is United flight 1502 from terminal C at 7:27 PM. I am flying from Toronto but I am a South African pasport holder (I have a B1/B2 US visa). Will 46 minutes be enough? I dont know if I need to go through any security or customs lines...

You need to go through U.S. customs clearance at Toronto Airport. When arriving at IAH at Terminal A, simply take the above-ground TerminaLink train, which connects all terminals inside security, to Terminal C - follow signs. You have enough time.

  • quickest route T5 to T1?
    May 17, 2012

Is the shuttle the quickest route between the international terminal and the United Terminal (Terminal 1, I think?), or is there a walking route that might be faster?

    1. As an international arrival, and unless you have gone through US customs clearance by participating airports in Canada and the Caribbean, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes)- count on 35-50 mins. After exiting the Federal Inspection and luggage re-check areas, proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System where you can easily connect to Terminal 1 domestic flights. A free ATS shuttle train running every few minutes can take you there. There is you other choice for you.

We are flying on United from Houston and connecting USAir Express. Can we get our bags and make the flight in 42 minutes?

If you are sure that United does not transfer bags to your US Air flight, you need to go down to the baggage claim and on your way back to your connecting gate pass the security check again. Hopefully, your bags arrive quickly. Note that both flights arrive/ depart from Concourse D which has gates D1-35.
