  • Switching Airports, Transfer Counters
    Mar 4, 2013

Arriving by Air France from Toronto at CDG and switching to Orly to fly to Reunion. Upon arrival at GDG we have to: (1 )pick up our check-in luggage, (2) find a Transfer Counter to obtain our bus tickets for airport transfer to Orly (by AF Les Cars - according to AF website they will be given to us) and go thru passport control. People say this airport is not set up as other airports so what do I do first after landing at CDG (Terminal 2E), find the Transfer Counter, then passport control, and then the luggage pickup? Are these Transfer Counters easy to find? Thank you in advance for answering!

I am on Frontier Airlines connecting with South African Airways at JFK. Can i have my luggage booked all the way through?

Frontier Airlines does not fly to JFK. In New York they fly to LaGuardia Aiport (LGA). I hope you have several hours between your flights to make the transfer between airports. You will not be able to check your bags through.

My daughter arrives to IAH at 8:20 am from Dallas on American Airlines at Terminal A and needs to get to group check in at United Airlines Terminal E and fly out at 9:45 she only has a carry on. Is this enough time? Is there a best way to do it?

She can take the Terminalink (inside security) or Intra-Terminal Train (outside security). She has enough time, but only barely.

hi. i will arrive from XNA on expressjet at 4:59pm mar. 29 and need to be on united airline flight 4160 at 5:30pm. Can anyone tell me what gates or terminal to head for??? Thanks.

EpressJet currently operates as Delta Connection and United Express. Delta uses Terminal A, United uses Terminals A, B & C. On arrival, look at overhead screen to find your flight and gate number. Then take the above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, connects terminals A, B, C, inside security. Hurry if you need to change terminals.

Both of your flights will be in Terminal C

  • Transfer from United to SWA with Bags

Can I make the connection from a United flight arriving at 8:35a to a SWA flight departing at 10:20a if I have luggage? Am I correct that we will have to go to baggage claim, recheck bags and go back through security? Any suggestions? Does United ever transfer bags to SWA? Thanks for your insight!

You need to find out from United if they transfer bags to Southwest - if not, on arrival at Concourse B, you would have to claim your bag on arrival & re-check it in with Southwest at Terminal East. United uses Concourse B, Southwest uses Concourse A of the Jeppesen Terminal; the AGTS train will connect both Concourses in their center, in the secured area. To familiarize yourself withe the terminal layout, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/den; then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

United will not transfer your bag to Southwest. You will have to claim and recheck. If you are delayed you won't have enough time to do that. I suggest trying to fit your stuff into a carry on.

Thanks so much for the detailed tips!

I will be arriving on a Sunday at 7pm. How long should I expect to wait until immigration is cleared?

probably won't be too bad - most of the big widebody flights from Europe and Asia get in earlier than that, so it will just be the flights from Mexico and the Caribbean.

I WILL TRAVEL ON 8TH OF MARCH FROM WASHINGTON DC TO BARBDOS TROUGH MIAMI AIRPORT WITH AA. HOW ARE THE CONNECTING TIPS I SHOULD KNOW? DO I NEED TO CLAIM MY BAGGAGE? FROM WHERE I WILL TAKE THE BOARDING PASS? I HAVE ONLY 1 HOUR BETWEEN FLIGHTS.

At MIA, both American & American Eagle use Concourses E (Central Terminal) and Concourse D (North Terminal) with corresponding gates. The Skyride Connector is a moving walkway on level 3, connecting all terminals (with 4 stops inside Concourse D). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/mia then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

On the way to Barbados you can get both of your boarding passes and have your bags checked all the way though to Barbados in Washington DC. On the way back you'll get both boarding passes and have your bag checked to Washington DC in Barbados, but you will reclaim your bag in immigration in Miami and re-check it with American after going through customs.

    Thank you!

Terrible lounge. Very depressing, outdated, and weakly stocked.

  • Domestic airline transfer at LAX

I want to move from AA to Alaskan in my domestic trip to San Jose CA. We land at 9 and leave at 9:50pm. Will I have time to switch from terminal 6 to terminal 4? Can I by pass another trip through securtiy?

On arrival at LAX, at T6, go down to the ground level, take the escalator down to the tunnel to T5, take escalator up and exit T5, then walk over to the left to T4, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. (the bus runs the opposite way, taking longer). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/lax then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

A friend of mine in Namibia wishes to fly to Canada via a flight that connects through JFK (terminal 4 to terminal 8). Namibians normally need a visa to visit the US. Will he need a visa if he is only at JFK to connect through to his Toronto flight?

Yes, he needs a C1 visa

  • Print boarding pass?

Where can i print out my boarding pass?

It should be on the upper level of the terminal, next to the ticket counters - go to the ticket counter serving your departing Concourse /gate (B, C or D) - or call RSW Airport at 239-590-4800.

is it hard to get from terminal 7 to international?

On arrival at LAX, at T7, exit the terminal and take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island in front of each terminal, under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Your next stops after T7 will be T8, then over to T1, T2, T3 and TBIT (the international terminal) - 5 stops or about 12 mins. At TBIT you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate.
