  • Delta domestic to international terminal
    May 1, 2012
Hi,I'm arriving by delta flight from LAX arriving SFO at 10.15 AM and need to go to international terminal for Frankfurt Germany. The tickets says Lufthansa flight operated by United airline at 13.55. I guess i have enough time to collect my luggage and go to international terminal. Please give me advice. I'm nervous traveling alone.

    1. First at LAX, when checking in, find out if your baggage will be transferred by by the Airline taking you to SFO (not all airlines do, in which case you would, on arrival at SFO, claim your bag in the baggage area, and take it along on the AirTrain, checking it in at the International Terminal. If your airline transfers, your bag's tags need to indicate all three airport codes). 2. While all terminals are connected in the unsecured areas by the Red & Blue lines of the AirTrain, a secure connector allows passengers, transferring from domestic flights in Terminals 2 & 3 to international flights in Boarding Area G, to walk directly to their new gate without having to exit and re-enter security or ride a shuttle bus between the two buildings. 3. The International Terminal has boarding areas A and G on either side of the 2-level Main Hall. Terminal 1 has boarding areas B & C and offers access to the International Main Hall. 4. On Arrival at SFO look at the overhead screens to find your Lufthansa flight number, gate & time of departure, then follow signs. Suggestion: open and click on the Quick Links (at upper left) at "Terminal Map" - you see the terminal layout & below it all the information you need.

  • Long layover
    May 1, 2012
I was wondering what there is to do on a long layover (10 Hours) and staying in the airport. I get in at 11:30 PM.

IAH has numerous food, drink, retail & entertainment venues - some of which are open 24/7. My suggestion: open and click on "Airport Information". The Information desks should be able to steer you to an all-night establishment. Also google "Sleeping at Airports".

  • Getting assistance after Clearence
    Apr 30, 2012
As usual I bungled my question. I am arriving at Metro on Delta from Rotterdam. I will have an invalid husband with wheelchair, plus three or two suitcases and one or more carry-ons. We are to connect with another Delta flight to Florida. Customs is not a problem as my husband is a retired Special Agent with Customs. Once we are cleared I will need assistance getting him and our luggage over to the proper area. Where do I obtain assistance?

Delta operates from the McNamara Terminal - Your arrival / departure should be at either Concourses A, B or C with corresponding gate number. Your ticket, as well as the overhead screens on arrival at DTW will indicate departure gate. As to your need for assistance, you may want to contact or call the Airport at (734) 247 7648.

  • 1 hr 50 mins transfer time UK to Brazil
    Apr 30, 2012
Hello, I hold an EU passport. Arriving 22 May at 08.20 with KL 1072 (Manchester, UK) and taking the OR 355 Flight at 10.10 am (Natal, Brazil). Will I have enough transfer time assuming there are no delays coming out from Manchester? Thank you

When checking in at Manchester, make sure that KLM will transfer bags to Arkefly's OR 355 flight - if not, you need to get your bags in the baggage claim area, go upstairs and through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Look at your ticket and on arrival at overhead screens to find your departing gate and time. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. All gates can easily be reached by foot and you have enough time.

Dear moapr12, thank you so much..that is some amazing piece of advice there! I didn't know it was possible to do so if I booked the tickets separately myself (as opposed going via a travel agency). Thank you again, you have put my mind at ease!

Hello again, I just called KLM customer service and the man I spoke to said they cant do that if the flights arent booked on the same ticket.... I asked him if he was sure and replied they never do that if flights are booked separately, even if on two KLM flights :( How can I make sure he is right? should I try to call again and speak to someone else or is this really not possible? Thank you in advance

  • connection from barcelona to sfo
    Apr 30, 2012
we are connecting from barcelona to SFO on KLM and have only 1 hour. is this long enough?

Yes, unless your incoming flight will be seriously delayed. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. Find your departures gate on your ticket and on arrival at AMS at the overhead screens, then head to your departing gates following signs.

  • PHL Terminal F to A in 55 mins???
    May 15, 2012
We are flying into PHL from Buffalo on US Airways Express into terminal F, then have a 55 min layover until we fly out to Punta Cana, DR. Likely out of terminal A... will 55 mins be enough time for this transfer? I know we won't have to go thru security again. Thanks

Distances between terminals at PHL can be long. A free shuttle bus, operated by US Airways runs between Terminal A and F. (Its departure most likely coincides with connecting scheduled flight). You should have enough time.

from terminal F to terminal A east in 40minutes?

  • Arriving DTW from Amsterdam
    Apr 29, 2012
Will have one husband, one wheelchair, 3 suitcases. Understand I need to re-check luggage. What is the easiest way for me to handle this? Can my travel agent help expedite?

    1. Regardless whether you will connect at DTW to another flight, or end your journey there, you need to go through passport control, pick up bags and go through customs clearance. 2. If DTW is your final destination, you do not have to re-check-in your bags. If you transfer to another flight, depending on the Airline you use you may need to have to transfer to another terminal after baggage re-check-in. DTW has to terminals - the McNamara Terminal with Concourses A,B,C, and the North Terminal with Concourse D (gate numbers bear the concourse letter, i.e., gate C43) - look at your ticket and on arrival at DTW at the overhead screen for connecting flight if you need to continue journey. 3. A shuttle bus runs every 10 minutes between the McNamara and the North Terminals, taking 7 minutes. Concourse A of McNamara has 1.5 miles of moving walkways, but also uses the Express Tram serving the South station near gate A11, the Terminal station in the center near the water feature, and the North station near gate A67. If travel agent cannot expedite your needed assistance at DTW, you need to contact DTW at - or ask any Airport staff to obtain assistance.

  • Terminal 1 to 5
    Apr 29, 2012
How long does it take to travel from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5? I only have 1.5 between flights.

At ORD, between the ATS level of Terminal 5 and the domestic terminals 1, 2 & 3, the ATS shuttle train runs every few minutes - it makes its loop run counter clockwise (T1 is the last stop) - the full loop takes at least 30 mins.

  • International to Intl = after 5/16/12
    Apr 29, 2012
I will be transferring from one International flight to another in the fall. Will I have to go thru Immigration or Customs?

    1. Yes - all international arrivals need to go through the immigraton process. You will arrive either at the E or F gates of the new International Terminal (officially opening 5/16/12). After debarkation, passengers walk the corridor towards the escalators taking them to the Arrivals level, where they go through customs & Immigration, then proceed to the baggage claim area with 7 baggage carousels. (a) Connecting passengers recheck-in their bags by proceeding to the transit area past baggage claim and turning left to baggage recheck counters, then follow signs to Concourse F Plane Train station or pedestrian walkway connecting to concourse & E.

I am arriving on a JetBlue flight and am to meet someone coming in on Southwest. Can I walk to the Southwest terminal from Jet Blue?

JetBlue uses both Terminals C and E, while Southwest uses only Terminal E. Shuttle bus 11 serves all terminals. This is the terminal layout at BOS: TA, TB, TC, & TE are arranged in a semi-circle around the Central Parking Garage. Its northern-most terminal is International Terminal E; connected to it to the east are TC & TB. I guess you could walk between TC & TE.

Yes, you can. Just follow the signs to get to SW terminal.

How can I get from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 and how long does it take? Thanks for your assistance

T5 with Concourse M is the International Terminal; all international arrivals, with the exception of flights from airports with border preclearance, are handled at Terminal 5. After arrival at T5 you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bag. Then proceed up one level ATS level (above Federal inspection) to catch the ATS shuttle train which runs every few minutes between the International & domestic terminal 3. From arrival at T5 to arrival at T3 count on 50-65 mins. Note that Trminal 3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates (i.e., G21) - On arrival at ORD, look at the overhead screens to find your connecting flight and gate number.

  • Transfer
    Apr 26, 2012
I arrive from Victoria into Vancouver en route to London England. It says one hour seven minutes connection time. Is this sufficient? Do I have to change terminal buildings. Thanks

    1. If using Air Canada to YVR, you would arrive at Concourse C (gates C30-52). 2. The international departure gates are D50-78. 3. Domestic & International Gates: Signs to gates are clearly marked – Domestic gates A1-10, B11-29 & C30-52 are marked with the Canadian flag. International gates D50 to 78 are marked with a blue globe & the American Flag. You have enough time!

i made trip few times last year but was in hurry and not remember i fly flight kl0662 and connecting to kl1385 and tring to look at map to get idea how far of walk as my transfer is only an hour and i plan to get some flowers between flights anyone have help on this

    1. I could not find today's arrival listing of kl0662, but found a KLM kl1385 departure to Kiev, leaving from gate D55. Open and enter your flight number at "Arrivals", then do the same for "Departures". You may not be able to find a flower shop in the secured area. 2. The Departures level has Concourses with Gate Areas B-C, D, E, F, G-H, & M. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates.
