  • 59mins - Terminal 6 to Terminal 8
    Oct 24, 2013

II am landing from an international flight in Terminal 6 and have 59 mins until my flight to Canada leaves from Terminal 8. It is all booked through United. Will I need to clear Customs in LA before going to Canada and will I have enough time to make my next flight?

Where is your international flight from? AFAIK United should not have allowed you to book such a tight connection.

  • Moving checked Baggage from Terminal 2 or 3 to Terminal 5

I have to fly from ORD to DEL (India) by Air India on a ticket purchased for ORD-DEL. I am reaching ORD by United from LAX using a ticket purchased separately. My question is whether I shall be able to check my baggage thro LAX-ORD- DEL at LAX ? In case I have to collect my Checked at ORD Terminal 2 or 3, is it possible to re check my baggage with Air India at terminal 2 or 3 or should I have to transport my Baggage to be checked to terminal 5 ? What are the facilities to move checked baggage between terminals ?

If you are flying United into ORD, you will claim your baggage in Terminal 1. Since you bought your tickets on separate reservations you will have to transfer the bags between airlines yourself. You will have to take your baggage with you on the ATS train to Terminal 5 in order to check it with Air India.

I have booked a ticket together SUX to ORD using AA and ORD to DEL - BLR using Air Inida. DO I have to take the bags out and recheck in ORD?

  • Time to tranfer to an internal flight

We have booked to travel to IAH from London UK and have a connecting flight to New orleans. From arrival at IAH to departure of our connecting flight we have 1hour and 15 minutes. We have been assured that our checked in baggage will be routed directly to new orleans without the need for us to collect it at IAH and recheck it for the connecting flight. We have also been informed that we will be able to go through the arrivals procedure in time to make the connection. Can anyone comment on how realistic all this is?

Whatever information you got is wrong - you WILL have to collect it after clearing immigration in Houston and then re-check it at the re-check desk after clearing customs. You will also have to go through security after you drop your bags back off. I think that doing all this in only 75 minutes is highly optimistic. However, United does have almost hourly flights from Houston to New Orleans, so if you do miss your connection you will likely have ample opportunity to be rebooked.

Thanks for the reply and it is what we thought. However, our travel agent is adamant that we do not have to collect checked in baggage at Houston. Here is their replay: "With a through-fare the customers check their bags in a LHR and will collect them at their final destination, New Orleans, without any need to collect or recheck these in Houston. The airline will unload their bags in Houston and move these straight to the connecting flight. In very rare circumstances customers may need to identify their bags at the connecting airport, however this is only in exceptional circumstances (i.e. damage to the bag in transit)and is highly unlikely to happen." please can you comment.

Your travel agent is likely not familiar with the immigration requirements in the United States.

Thanks for your help. We have changed our flight times after your reply.

My AVIANCA flight from Colombia arrives at 14:20, I need to clear customs, get my bags and then recheck in order to board my flight on South African Airways which departs at 17:40. Will this be O.K.?

Yes, that should be enough time.

I'm flying on United on November 27 from Santa Barbara to Minot and have a 36 minute layover in Denver. Is this do-able?

Yes if your first flight is on-time. Both of your flights will be in the B-concourse on the high numbered end and may be very close together.

  • T4 to terminal t2 delta conections from uk to canada

Hi I'm traveling with delta from the uk to Canada Quebec. I have to change in jfk. I land at t4 at 16.10 and my flight to Quebec leaves from t4 at 1800. I will have checked bags. Is this enough time and what the quickest way to get from t4 to t2 ? Thanks for the help

Sorry ment to say arrives t4 departs t2

On arrival at JFK you will need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bag where indicated. The Delta shuttle bus will take you to Terminal 2. You have enough time.

Alternatively, since you will already be outside security after re-checking your bag, you take the AirTrain to T2 and go back through security there.

  • do I have to take an airtrain from termenal 4 to termenal 1?

Hello there I'll be flighing from mco to jfk and arrive at 2:14 pm then I have to collect lagages and head to termenal 1 to cach a flight on the saudia airlines how would I transfer please? Do I have to take an airtrain with my bags? Help please and thanks alot.

I forgot to mention I will be arriving with delta from termenal 4 then to termenal 1 thanks

Your MCO-JFK flight may actually arrive in Terminal 2. If your tickets were bought on separate reservations, yes, you will have to claim your bags in Terminal 4 or 2 (probably 2), then take them on the Airtrain to Terminal 1 to check them with Saudia. The Airtrain is the only way to get between these terminals.

Thank you so much for you reply..appreciated

  • UR Airways Terminal Shuttle

How often does the terminal shuttle run from Gate F to Gate C? Every 5 minutes? 10 minutes? I have a 45 minute layover on Sunday, with an incoming Air Wisconsin flight dba as US Airways Express arriving at 8:44 am and a departure flight of Republic Airlines dba US Airways Express at 9:29 am. It looks like from today's schedule that Air Wisconsin arrives at Terminal F and Republic Air at Terminal B or C. Will this give me enough time?

It runs pretty continuously. There's a lot of people coming and going from F and the shuttle bus is the only real connection to the rest of the airport.

I have 49 minutes connection time for delta flight 5560 to my Indianapolis flight 3838, connecting through Detroit DTW. Is this sufficient time?

If your first flight is on-time, yes, it should be enough time. Both flights will be in the McNamara terminal, likely be in the B/C concourse.

  • Enough time?

I'm planning to travel from Abu Dhabi via Etihad Airways on December 16, scheduled 4:40 PM arrival at IAD. I'd like to book a 6:05 PM departure to Denver via United. Is 85 minutes enough transfer time?

I would try for a later flight since you'll have to transfer your bags yourself since the tickets will be bought on separate reservations. Also be aware that you will have to pay a checked bag fee on United since you are purchasing separate tickets. It sucks that the next flight isn't until almost 10 PM, but I think you'd have a really tough time transferring bags in 85 minutes, especially if you aren't a US citizen and have the slower immigration line.

Hi, Is a 45min connection long enough to transfer my checked luggage? It seems risky. Thx

That's pretty tight. I'd try for a longer connection if possible.

I am a Belarusian citizen and have a US student visa. Will I need to recheck my luggage in Amsterdam on my way from Minsk, BY to Chicago, US? And if I do need to recheck it in, do I need any transit visa to access the baggage claim area in Schiphol?

If coming from Minsk, via Amsterdam, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ams then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

hi. My daughter will be flying home to Canada from VA in December and she will be flying into Dulles from Roanoke VA with a 50minute layover to then departing to Toronto. The flights are the same carrier. Will this be enough time to make the connection?

If the first flight is on-time, then yes, it will be enough time, even if she has to change concourses.

  • Spirit to Silver

Do I have enough time if my Spirit flight (Terminal 4) lands at 9:27am to connect to a Silver Airlines flight that departs at 10:25am (Terminal 1) on a Friday morning. No checked bags. I'll be the 1st off the spirit flight as well.

Maybe, if you run. And make sure to check in online for your Silver Airways flight before you leave too - https://checkin.gosilver.com/3MWebCheckIn/WebCheckIn.html#Language=en_US I, personally, wouldn't try it.
