  • Transfer Zurich-AMS-Tokyo Narita
    Jan 1, 2014
Hi. I would like to ask wether 55 minutes are enough time to transfer at Amsterdam Schiphol. I will fly from Zurich to Tokyo Narita. Is the luggage going to make it too or is it likely that it would arrive after me? Thank you.

It should be enough time. Your transfer should be fairly straight forward and AMS is made for tight connections.

  • Terminal B to Terminal C
    Jan 1, 2014
Arrive at 8:20 pm at Terminal B; Depart at 9:15 at Terminal C. Should we walk (run) it or risk waiting for shuttle? Thanks

You cannot run from Terminal B to C inside security. They are separate buildings. However, the TerminaLink train connects them inside security and is the much better option.

  • Pit to Atl further Atl to Lir
    Jan 1, 2014
Hi, We are trying to figure out what terminal we are arriving to in Atl and what terminal we would be flying out of.. Airline is Delta. There is only a 52 min layover in Atl before flight to Lir departs. Would this be sufficient time?

All gates at ATL are connected beyond security by the Plane Train. You will arrive one of the numerous domestic concourses and depart from E/F. If your first flight arrives on-time you will be OK.

    Thank you for your help!

  • Quebec to Newark 1h connection
    Dec 31, 2014
Hi, I'm flying tuesday january 7th I have one hour connection in Newark. I will land in Terminal C at 8AM and fly from terminal C at 9AM also. I can't pre-clear US Custom at Quebec .. Will I have enough time to clear immigration, custom, pick your baggage etc ??

No, that's not a legal connection as the minimum connection time is 90 minutes in EWR for flights that require going through immigration and customs in EWR. As there's no earlier flight from YQB you can try to get lucky and make the connection, but prepared to be stuck in Newark for awhile if you can't be rebooked or there are no later flights to your destination.

90 minutes? United Airlines got me on that one I guess?.. I called them earlier and they told me I can make it on time .. maybe they'rnt aware I can't clear immigration and customs at Quebec .. there's no flight later on January 7th ..They gave me the choice to go on January 6th instead and I'd be at Newark at 7:36 AM and leaving at 9:09 .. but I need to book an hotel ..

  • Connecting flight in ORD - AA1564 with AI0126
    Dec 31, 2014
I have booked tickets from Phoenix to Delhi via Chicago. PHX to ORD is AA1564 and ORD to DEL is AI0126. The lay away time between the flights is 1 hr 50 mins. AA is saying this is not a legal flight since the gap is less than 2 hrs, although I have the tickets in my hand. The travel agent is unable to give me any other option and they are saying this is a legal ticket. Even AI is saying the same. Not sure what to do. Please suggest.

Were the two tickets booked together or separately? 1 hr 50 minutes is a doable connection if everything runs perfectly and your bags are automatically transferred (if both tickets were bought on the same reservation). However, if there is any delay or if you have to move the bags between terminals yourself that probably isn't enough time. Note that you will have to take the ATS train from T3 to T5, get your AI boarding pass, and go through security.

Thanks ZAP, tickets were booked together, but AA is saying this is not a legally valid ticket. They may prevent us from boarding in Phoenix itself. Is that possible?

Yes, it is possible. They should be able to re-book you free of charge for an earlier Phoenix-Chicago flight if there is one or the last flight the night before (which would require spending the night in Chicago, but is still probably cheaper/easier than changing everything).

  • Getting through customs
    Dec 30, 2014
I am traveling from Wichita to puerto Vallarta. Will I go through customs in Dallas? If so, will I need to claim my baggage and re-check it after customs? And, what about my return?

On the way to Mexico the only time you will go through customs is in Mexico. You will only have to go from your arrival gate (In terminal A, C, or D) to your departure gate in Terminal D. If you need to change terminals you will use the Skylink train which runs inside security. On your return, you will arrive in Terminal D where you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through customs, then re-check your bags with American. You will then go through security and to your departure gate. Again, if you need to change terminals use the Skylink.

  • Change Terminals in 30 minutes?
    Dec 30, 2014
I fly into Terminal C and depart Terminal E. I only have a 30 minute layover. Can I make it if we are on time?

The gate areas of Terminal C connect to Terminal E after Gate C45: If arriving at gates C29-45 and transferring to Terminal E: walk towards gates C14-24 and proceed straight on to Terminal E.

  • Transferiing from Terminal D to A
    Jan 4, 2014
Dear Sir/madam, i'm arriving on Air France at Terminal D and then have a flight from Terminal A with Alaska Airlines. Can you tell me the quickest way to get to termiinal A from D, how i do it and how long the transfer may take. Thanks in advance for a reply.

The above-ground TerminaLink train, which starts its service at the Terminal A station, connects terminals A, B, C, D/E inside security (allow for 30 mins transfer from A to D).

Since you are arriving on an international flight it will take you a lot longer than 30 minutes to make your connection. As you will have to go through US Customs, claim your baggage, and go through customs. If your bags are checked through to your second flight you can then re-check them, but if they are not you will have to take them on the Inter-Terminal Train, which runs outside security, to Terminal A. What airline are you flying from Terminal A and how much time do you have for your connection?

I arrive at 14:15 and depart at 17:30 so have a 3:15 connection, flying alaska airlines

I will gave to clear customs and immigration and re check at IAH.

Yes, you should have enough time. If your bags are checked through to Alaska Airlines you can re-check your bags in Terminal D, otherwise you will have to take them on the Inter-Terminal Train to Terminal A.

  • connection time
    Dec 30, 2014
My parents are flying United on Jan. 1 from Indianapolis to Dulles with a 50 minute connection time to make their United flight to Bahrain. Is this going to be enough time? Do you have any idea what concourse they will fly into and leave from?

They will arrive in A or C and depart from D. If they arrive in A they will have to take the mobile lounge to D but if they arrive in C they can just walk. Either way they won't have to go through any security and if their first flight is on-time they should have enough time.

  • United flights
    Dec 30, 2014
Hi we are flying from EWR a domestic flight united airlines and have a layover at IAH for Costa Rica an international flight also united. Is there enough time to transfer planes?

Well, you didn't post how much time you your itinerary currently allows, so I don't know if you'll have enough time. But you should arrive in Terminal C or E and depart from E, which is all connected beyond security.

44 minutes. Thank you for your help

Yes, if your first flight is on-time you should be OK.

    Thank you for being helpful

  • Advice on Terminal
    Jan 13, 2014
I will be flying to Hong-Kong from LAX Terminal B and shall be coming from San Jose on Terminal 4 AA Is terminal 4 and terminal B inter-connected and do i need to re-collect my boarding pass

Terminal 4 and the International Terminal are located next to each other but you will have to go outside and may have to go to the Cathay Pacific check-in desk to get a proper boarding pass. You will have to go through security again once you get to the International Terminal as well.

I'm also flying from San Jose to LAX on American and then to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. Both flights are on the same ticket. I was told that my bags are checked through to Hong Kong. I'm assuming that I don't need to check in to my CX flight when I get into LAX? However, my big concern is that there is only one hour between my arrival from San Jose to my departure to Hong Kong. Will that be enough time? Since both flights are scheduled with American Airlines, I think they would tell me if the connection does not work?

  • Connection, Coming from Miami with Delta, leaving to Milan with Alital
    Dec 29, 2013
Hi. Can anyone advise the procedure we will have to take the 1st of january landing in JFK from Miami with Delta flight number 1671 (landing time expected:3:11pm ) and then going to take the alitalia flight at terminal 1 to Milan at 8pm(flight number: a z0605? thank you in advance

You will arrive in Terminal 2 or 4. You will then have to take the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train to Terminal 1 where you will go through security and to your gate. Your bags should be checked through to Milan. You will have plenty of time.

  • International flight
    Dec 29, 2013
Have to change my flight in Dulles to an international flight. Portland, Maine > Dulles Dulles > Frankfurt, Germany I have 57 mins to change the flight. Is that enough?

At this time of the year you may also have to take flight delays into consideration. You arrival at, and departure from, IAD depends on which airline(s) you take. Also, on whether you bought both flights on one ticket - make sure that your first airline transfers bags to your second one. If not you would have claim bags & re-check them in. Most likely you arrive aat either A, B or C gates and will depart from D gates: The AeroTrain only serves gates: A1-32, B35-79, and C1-30; however, the C gates C1-30 & D gates D1-32 are connected by a walkway. With no flight delay & baggage transfer, you have enough time.

All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate (assuming you bought your tickets on one reservation). You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • enough time?
    Dec 29, 2013
I arrive LAX from Seattle at 8:55pm. Term. 6 on Alaska. I Need to get bags from bag claim, go to Bradley & check in again for flight on Quantas to Melbourne, Australia at 11:30pm. Is that enough time? My only other choice is to arrive LAX at 7pm. Terminal maps don't show where I pickup up my bag and how to get to bradley.

Yes you have enough time for transfer. On arrival at T6, get your bag and exit the terminal. Take the LAX bus Route A on lower arrival level island under sign 'LAX shuttle airline connection', which runs every 12-15 mins. Your next stops are T8, going around the bend to T1, T2, T3 and then TBIT (Bradley)- count on about 12 mins. Check-in counters at TBIT are on level 2. Thereafter go through security check and follow signs to your Concourse which is either E or F. (Look at overhead screens for flight & gate numbers). To familiarize yourself with the Airport layout, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/lax, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

You can also walk from T6 to the TBIT fairly easily.
