I will be flying into Rome on a Delta/Altalia flight from Athens into T-1. Bags will be checked through from Athens to Atlanta. Do I have to process through T-5 or can I go directly to the departing Delta gate at the satellite facility via T-3 train?

You do have to go to T5 as that is the only way you can board the shuttle that will take you to the satellite. However, there are reports of people who are able to get their DL boarding pass from Alitalia being able to go directly to the T3 satellite by following the signs and taking the train.

Thanks so much. I'll try to check and see if I can get all my boarding passes in Athens.

I would also mention that if you do manage to make it to your gate in the T3 satellite without going to T5 first, make sure you check in with the Delta gate there to make sure they don't mark you as a no-show. They may have to do a document check.

  • 44 min. layover- can we make it?
    Mar 5, 2014

We will have 44 mins. to make our next connection. We are flying Delta from Charleston,SC changing planes in Detroit before flying on to Buf,NY. Is this possible?

Yes, if your first flight is on time it's quite possible. All Delta flights are connected inside security in the McNamara Terminal and the worst possible connection would take about 20 minutes.

Thanks for the help. It shouldn't be a problem now because they have changed my flight to where we have an hour and 10 mins. layover.

Hi. I'm flying with AA to LA via T8. As I will preclear customs at Dublin how do I get from the arrivals level up to the departure gates without having to go through customs again. Thank you.

Since you pre-clear immigration, you won't have to go through to the arrivals level, you will come out the door on the departure level of the terminal, like a domestic flight would.

I will be coming into Terminal ! and going out Terminal 5. How do I get there and is 2 hours enough time?

What airline is your outbound flight on? If you indeed have to go to Terminal 5, there is a shuttle bus. 2 hours is really cutting it close, especially if you have to check baggage in T5.

I will be coming in on Alitalia to T.1 and going out on Delta to US. My baggage will have been checked all the way through. Thanks for replying.

Is 1hr 40min enough time in Amsterdam for a connection from Houston/USA onwards to Venice, Italy? Do we need to pick up suitcases? Or, is the only security check at the gate for the second flight? Many thanks!

You will go through Schengen immigration and security when you cross over the Schengen side of the terminal. You won't have to claim your baggage.

How long does that Schengen security check typically take?

It depends on the time of day and day of week, but probably 10-20 minutes.

Landing from PPT with qantas T4 at 10.15 going to JFK with delta T5 at 12.20. Is enough time? Think you

QANTAS does not fly from PPT. If you are a nonstop flight from PPT to LAX you are on Air Tahiti Nui, which will arrive at the International Terminal (TBIT). Were both tickets bought on one reservation? If so after you clear customs in the TBIT you can re-check your bags there, otherwise you will have to take them to T5, which is outside to the right and a bit of a walk, and then check your bags with Delta there. You will then have to go through security in T5 and to your gate. You should barely have enough time.

2 hrs transfer time is sufficient. On arrival at T4 you need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags. Then take the escalator down to the tunnel connecting to T5, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate.

Please ignore momar, if you are coming from PPT, you will not use T4.

Arrive 6 Mar on Deltat DL3982 from Manchester, NH. at 9:30 am. Depart to Tokyo on Delta DL275 at 1:30 pm. Could you please provide a terminal map showing route from arrival area to departure area. Thank you very much.

You will arrive in the A, B, or C concourse of the McNamara Terminal (likely B or C) and depart from the center part of the A concourse of the same terminal. All Delta gates at DTW are connected inside security. You will have a ton of time for your connection as it should take 20 minutes or less and you have 4 hours.

We will be arriving from Atlanta on an Air France flight at Term 2E and departing out of Term 2F on the same ticket to Rome with only carry on luggage. How much time should we allow between terminals? Do we have to clear customs and go through security?

On arrival at CDG you go through passport control. Transfer passengers between T2E & T2F use the pedestrian paths. Estimated transfer time 50 mins.

  • Enough time to connect from Istanbul flight to domestic flight?

If I arrive from Istanbul at 4:30 p.m. on a Thursday at Terminal 1, does an 8:30 p.m. American Airlines flight from Terminal 8 to LAX give me enough time to get thru passport control, customs, recheck baggage, and get to Terminal 8? I haven't flown thru JFK recently but have heard horror stories

Yes, 4 hours should be plenty of time.

i have an overnight cnnxn in sfo. i land around 9pm via AA. i need to go to baggage and claim my bags. now i read that delta has a sky club BEFORE going through security. i am a sky club member. so would it be possible to land, exit security, grab my bags, and then go to the sky club until it closes at midnight? then, when sky club closes, i can sleep "somewhere" in baggage claim. and then the next morning check in for my early flight? are the logistics of this doable? thanks

We will be arriving on a Delta flight at T2. Our Alitalia flight (bought on a Delta ticket) will depart from T1. Will we need to go through security at T1? What is the minimum we should allow between flights?

Yes, you will have to go through security to depart from T1. Allow at least 90 minutes for your transfer.

Thanks for the info. We'll plan on it.

we will arrive at JFK from LAX (t4) with delta and depart to MXP with Emirates (t4). Is 1 hour and 30 minutes enough?

    That is enough time.

U think we get collect our baggage in New York?!

Were your tickets bought on one reservation or separate? If they were bought on separate reservations you will have to transport your baggage from the Delta baggage claim to the Emirates ticket counter as Delta does not check bags through to destinations bought on separate itineraries.

Will be enough time even if I have to take baggages? Thank you!

  • are all dfw terminals within the same security "bubble"?

i have a super long layover in dallas. can i walk around or train around to all the terminals without ever having to exit/re-enter secuity? if this is NOT possible, which terminals involve exiting/re-entering security? thanks!

I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dfw, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

All terminals are connected inside security by the SkyLink train. There are no walkways connecting terminals.

WE Walked from C to A and back, wrong DP Gate given on our arv flg. There is a ped bridge btw C & A.We did have to take SkyLink on our return flg.DP from Term E

i have a 3+ hour layover arriving in jfk from san fran on american airlines and leaving jfk on hawaiian air for honululu (yes, a bizarre routing i know!). i have a delta sky club membership and would like to go there : 1. do i have to exit my arrival terminal, enter security to get to delta sky club, then exit delta terminal, and re-enter security for my hawaiian air departure terminal?...OR...is there a way to do this without having to deal with security? thanks!

You will arrive at AA's Terminal 8 & depart your Hawaiian flight at T5; however, Delta Sky Club is in T4 POST-SECURITY(near gate 32). All terminals are reached by the Airline Terminals train, running counter-clockwise OUTSIDE of security. Contact Delta & see what you need to do to use their Sky Club.

  • terminal 5 to terminal 3

I am flying from Doha (Qatar Airway QR 0721) to Terminal 5 then I have a connection to Raleigh through Terminal 3. This is my first time flying. I have two checked luggages. so would you please tell me the steps I will go through and required time to change terminals including customs & immigration ? I have five hours lay over time.

On arrival at ORD you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to T3, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. NOTE: If you purchased separate tickets & your connecting flight is not with Qatar, you need to pick up your bag after customs clearance & re-check it in with the connecting airline. To familiarize yourself with the terminal layout, etc. open open www.ifly.com/ord, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

    Thank you soooooo much :)
