  • YUL-SFO-LAX --> International A or G to Terminal 3 security question
    Dec 16, 2014
Hi, I'm flying to LAX through SFO from Montreal with Air Canada and then United Airlines. In SFO, I'll have to go to terminal 3 from either International terminal A or G (I don't know which one yet). Will I need to pass through security again in SFO or is there a walkway inside security between these terminals (I will have already passed through US customs in Montreal)? If I do have to go through security again, will I have enough time if I have a 1h30 layover? Thanks

There is a walkway from I-G to Terminal 3 inside security. There is no walkway from I-A, so you would have to go through security if you arrive there. Either way you have enough time.

  • 35 Minutes to Catch Flight
    Dec 15, 2014
My sister is catching an early morning flight from Boston, connecting in Philadelphia to Punta Cana. Does she have to go through security to check her bags? Will 35 minutes be enough time to do this?

No, she doesn't have to go through security or anything with her bags on her way to Punta Cana. All she does is have to walk from her arrival gate to her departure gate. She has enough time if her first flight is on-time, but there's very little to spare in case of delays.

  • Terminal 4 (DELTA) to Terminal 1 (AIR FRANCE)
    Dec 16, 2014
I'm flying into JFK from SFO, arriving at Terminal 4 and have to get to Terminal 1 for my flight o PARIS. It's a code share flight, have only 1h and 25 mins layover. What's the quickest way to get Terminal 1? Could I just walk it?

It is impossible to walk. You have to take the AirTrain. The ride on the Airtrain should take less than 10 minutes.

ok, thanks! do i have to go through security check again? do you happen to know if the AirTrain access is at the arrivals level? I appreciate your help

Yes, you will have to go through security again. The Airtrain is an elevated train, located closer to the Departures level.

  • 1 hour layover worries
    Dec 15, 2014
I will be coming in from Calgary, Canada on a United Airlines flight at 2:25pm, departing at 3:55pm for Lima, Peru also on a United Airlines flight. What terminal will I be arriving at and departing from and will I have enough time to get there? Will I have to recheck my baggage or go through customs/security again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time. You will arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E.

  • US - AMS - US connection
    Dec 15, 2014
Hi, I'll be flying from US to Amsterdam on the last leg of an itinerary that was bought in Amsterdam. Two hours later I'll be flying back to US on a separate itinerary which is the return leg of the itinerary bought in US. Is two hours enough time between arrival from an international flight to departure on another international flight? Will I have to go through Passport control to exit Arrivals area of Schiphol and then go through Passport control again to enter the Departures lounge or both the Arrivals & Departures (downstairs and upstairs) interconnected? I will have no checked baggage and reason for such a nested itinerary is because I want to use my upgrades before they expire soon and collect miles. Thank you very much for the help!

If you are able to check in online for your AMS-US flight you can go directly from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Otherwise you will have to exit to check in. However, since you have no checked baggage I'm pretty sure you will have enough time to do so.

  • Terminal C to A. Assistance possible?
    Dec 18, 2014
Hello Our two 13 year old daughters will be connecting from Oslo to Montreal, and will only have 1h30 to change from terminal C to A. 1) What exactly is to be expected, point by point? Will their suitcases have enough time to follow? Should they take the bus or the Air Train? 2) Could they seek any assistance from someone there to make their connection less stressful? My concern is a line up at the customs, and them being to shy to say they are in a hurry.

Forget my question about the luggage. I understand they will have to retrieve them before taking the Air Train. It will be faster if they keep their suitcases as cabin luggage.

If they only have cabin baggage, They will arrive in Terminal B or C (B is actually most likely), go through US Immigration and Customs, then take the AirTrain to their departure terminal, A. They have enough time if their first flight is on-time. There are no "guides" to help them through the process, but there are plenty of people around both working for Immigration and for the Airlines to help.

Still unsure about the AirTrain thing. If they have to go from terminal C to terminal A (which is the case, not B) isn't it way easier and shorter for them to take the shuttle bus? Then they avoid all the hassle? They will be on United..

Sorry, it says I've had an answer, but I can't see it

  • Fastest way between T1 C6 to T3 K6
    Dec 15, 2014
My wife is reaching from Edmonton. Her flight her got delayed by 40 minutes, leaving just one hour at ORD, for her connecting flight. 1. What's the fastest way between T1 Gate C6 to T3 Gate K6? 2. How much time it would take.

The fastest way is to just walk. It will take about 15 minutes walking fast.

  • Oslo-Newark-New Orleans
    Dec 15, 2014
Hi, I have 1:45 layover arriving Newark terminal B from Oslo, then a connecting flight from terminal C to New Orleans. Passing customs and re-check ing - do I have enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • ORD-DTW(connection 45 min) -Amsterdam flight
    Dec 15, 2014
Hi, I'will be flying from ORD to AMS, connection through DTW. I have only 45 minute to connect my Amsterdam flight. ORD-DTW flight on Delta and DTW-AMS flight on KLM. I was wondering do I have to go through US immigration on my connection? is that enough time?

You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US. you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in the McNamara Terminal. You have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time, but little to spare in case of delays.

  • How do I get from terminal 2 to terminal 4
    Dec 15, 2014
I'm flying from Hawaii to Dallas and have a connection in LA - I am coming in on Hawaiian Air at terminal 2 and flying out on American Airlines, Terminal 4. I looked at a map - are their terminals connected or do I have to exit terminal 2 and walk through the parking lots over to terminal 4??? I have a 2 hour layover.

You have to exit Terminal 2 and walk across or around to Terminal 4. 2 hours should be enough time. Check in for your AA flight online before you leave Hawaii.

  • 5 hours connection to non-schengen country
    Dec 15, 2014
I will be flying Rio de Janeiro to AMS, stay at AMS for 5 hours until I get the flight to Manchester, UK. I've heard that there is the "Iamsterdam" letters outside the airport, right in front its entrance, so I would like to take some photos, but I don't know if it is possible to get out for a minute from the airport as I'm traveling to a non-schengen country. It is possible? Thank you.

If you have a Schengen Visa, you could exit there. However, if you do not have a Schengen Visa then you cannot.

Yes, as a Brazilian I don't need Visa to any european country. Anyway I have double citizenship, so I have the italian passaport.

  • Domestic Connecting
    Dec 15, 2014
I am flying from DTW on United Airlines to ORD, and only have an hour an a half layover before flying to EWR. I land in terminal 2, and fly out of terminal 1. Will I have enough time? Will I have to go through security between terminals, and how long is the walk between terminals?

You have plenty of time. There is a walkway connecting the two terminals inside security. Your DTW flight may arrive in Terminal 1 anyway. The walk from T2 to T1 takes about 5-10 minutes.

  • Custom and baggage check
    Dec 14, 2014
I am flying from DTW through AMS with the final destination OTP a. Will I have to go through customs in AMS a or OTP? And do I have to collect my bagged and recheck it in AMS? Thank You! :)

Since you will not be entering the Schengen zone you will not go through customs or do anything with your baggage in Amsterdam. You will just go through security at your departure gate to Bucharest.

  • Connection time?
    Dec 15, 2014
I arrive London Heathrow from Madrid at 0950 (dont know which terminal) and leave terminal 5 at 1120 for Chicago. Is there time time for this connection (ie 1hr 30 ) and do i have to go thro security again.

This question can't be answered unless we know what airlines you are flying

Hi Zap sorry about that - Flt American 8816 operated by Iberia from Madrid to LHR dep 0820 arr 0950 and then Flt American 6195 operated by BA dep LHR 1120 arr O'Hare 1345.

Both flights will be in Terminal 5. Yes you will have to go through security but you will not have to go through UK Immigration.

Once many thanks for your excellent input - just one thing more will we have enough time for the connection at Heathrow ?
