  • LAX to AMS to BOM
    Jul 21, 2014
Hi we will be returning to Mumbai from LAX. LAX to AMS on DL602 and only one hour 40 min to change to DL 6070 we will be travelling with 2 kids will we have enough time to reach the next aircraft? Also will there be any staff at the arrival gate in AMS to help us.

Terminal 5 is the Delta Terminal at LAX. After TSA Screening are gates 51 to 59 - divided into clusters of 50A -51B gates, 52A -53B gates and 54A -59 gates.

Sorry my fault I was not clear..... I arrive at AMS on dL602 and depart on dl6070 but have only 1hr 40min between the flights in AMS, will that be enough time ?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Since both flights are outside Schengen you will only have to go through security at your departure gate (no immigration or customs or anything with your baggage) in AMS.

  • Arriving at CDG from Mumbai in transit
    Jul 21, 2014
We are arriving at CDG at 08:30 this august and we will be in transit to Boston. Our connecting flight is at 16:45. Is it possible to do the transit tours of Paris? Do we need to apply for a visa for this reason or can we get a visa at the airport that will enable us to do one of the sightseeing tours offered at the airport? We are Indian nationals..

You will have to apply for a visa beforehand. You can't apply for a Visa in the airport.

Find out if India is on of the Visa-Waiver countries (no need for Visa) at France, if not, inquire at Info booth location of visa desk. While tourist/ sightseeing bus counters are in the baggage claim area of the terminals - you may also use the following transport options into Paris: 1. Local buses 350 & 351 run between the Airport & central Paris: The Roissybus (open: serves all three terminals and runs to Place de l'Opéra, connecting there to the Paris Métro, and taking 45-60 minutes. 2. RER trains (visit: serve the airport in conjunction with ADP shuttles. Line B runs from Terminal 1 and from the TGV station at Terminal 2 to Gare du Nord, Chatelet-les-Halles, St Michel, Luxembourg, Port Royal and Denfert-Rochereau, with connections to the Metro. Travel time to Gare du Nord is about 25 minutes.

i am leaving from chicago from terminal 2 by delta airlines at 3 P.M and arriving at JFK at 6:30 P.M..and i have a connecting flight from JFK at 7:30 to question is i just have 1 hour connection flight..will 1 hour be enough??

A continuoulsly running shuttle bus runs between gate C60 at T2 & gate B23 at T4, eliminating the need for security check - add about 12 minutes of transfer time.

Do you mean that i can get the flight??

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be enough time to make your connection. However, note that delays at JFK are common.

  • Connecting from San Fransisco to London
    Jul 19, 2014
Im thinking of buying a ticket for a Virgin America filght on Sept 21 from San Francisco to NY JFK, plane departs at 7am, lands at 3.40pm. My flight for London heathrow leaves at 6.15 pm British Airways from Terminal 8, JFK. Would I make it in in 2,5 hrs?

Yes, 2.5 hours should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. However, note that flights operated by British Airways use Terminal 7 at JFK, not terminal 8.

  • LAS-SFO-ICN Virgin to Singapore Airlines; 1:20min layover
    Jul 19, 2014
Hello and thanks for any help! I am flying from Vegas to San Fran on United, and switching from Virgin to Singapore Airlines for a flight to Seoul Korea (ICN). Never flown thru Virgin and Singapore have a sea where I can have all my tickets/checked baggage good to go? Or is 1:20 min not going to be enough??? Thanks!

SORRY!!!... typo: Vegas to San Fran on VIRGIN!!! my bass... =/

Virgin America and Singapore Airlines do have an interline agreement, so if you show your SQ confirmation to the Virgin agent in Las Vegas you should be able to have your bags transferred to Singapore and you won't have to do anything with them in SFO. You will just have to go from your arrival terminal to the International Terminal, get your Singapore boarding passes if you don't already have them, and go through security. 1:20 will still be difficult to do all that.

  • Connection time: stopover in Charlotte (Newark to Indianapolis)
    Jul 20, 2014
Hi, I'm an international traveler flying from Newark (EWR) to Indianapolis (IND) on 13 August with a stopover in Charlotte. My port of entry in the USA is Newark. Do I have to collect my luggage and clear immigration and re-check my luggage at Charlotte for the next flight out to Indianapolis? The connecting time is about 1 hour 5 mins. Is there enough time to board the next plane? I'm flying with US Airways with the CLT-IND flight operated by Republic Airlines dba US Airways Express . Thanks.

You will go through US Immigration and customs in Newark. When you are on flights within the United States, you do not have to go through Immigration. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates in Charlotte are connected inside security. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

When landing at CLT, you need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance and re-check-in your bags where indicated. If you bought your flights on one ticket, or your first flight airline is affiliated with US Airways or American your bags will automatically be transferred. US Airways Express uses Concourses D & D; US Airways uses Concourses E, B D. JetBlue uses Terminal 5 (T5) - her connection to KLM flight is at T4 - connected by the 'Airline Terminals Train' running counter-clockwise between all terminals at their pre-security areas. However, pre-security areas of terminals do not have as much amenities & services (food, shops, entertainment) as post-security areas - only accessible after security check. I suggest you opens, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text. You have a short transfer time - if arriving at rush hours, you may not be able to make it.

Please ignore sajul's long and rambling and incorrect post. Since you will be entering the US In Newark you will go through US Immigration there.

Thank you for the reply! Appreciate it! :)

Am flying into SEA from ANC (Alaskan, Concourse C) arriving SEA at about midnight with a connecting flight on EVA Air (Satellite South) at 2am. Is this do-able? Do I need to collect bags/check in/clear security at SEA?

    1. If you bought both flights on one ticket, your bags will be automatically transferred; if not contact Alaska if they will make that transfer - if not, you would need to claim your bags & recheck them in with EVA before proceeding to the South Satellite. 2. To get from Concourse C to the South Satellite, take first the STS train to the Main Terminal , then cross over and take the train on opposite side to the South Satellite. (follow signs).

  • T5 to T4
    Jul 19, 2014
How do i get from T5 to T4? What is the average time it takes to switch terminals?

You need to take the 'Airline Terminals Train' (look for signs) which runs counter-clockwise; so there is only one stop between T5 & T4. However, you need to go through security check at T4 before proceeding to your connecting gate.

How long does it take to go from one terminal to another?

It will take less than 5 minutes to get between the two terminals, but security could take 5-20.

  • Short Connection time
    Jul 19, 2014
Hello .. I'm booking a flight from MCO (Orlando) to Toronto (YYZ) on United/United Express with a 1hr 14min stopover in EWR. Is that enough time for me to make the connection? Thanks in advance for your help.

At EWR, United Express uses Terminal A (United domestic flights are either at TA or TC). Your connecting flight to YYZ should be at TC (if at TA, United will shuttle you gate-to-gate to TC) You have enough time for either scenario.

Sajul has it reversed. You will arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal A. But he is indeed correct in that there is a secure-side shuttle between Terminals C and A at EWR.

Hello there. I'll be traveling on 21 July from Phoenix to Abu Dhabi, UAE with a connecting flight at Chicago O'Hare airport. My concern is I only have 40 minutes to catch my connecting flight from Terminal 3 to terminal 5. I'm flying with American airlines from Phoenix and Etihad Airlines codeshared by AA from Chicago, arrival 19:10 and departing 20:45 respectively. I understand ORD is a very big and busy airport. I was told my luggage will go all the way to Abu Dhabi from Phoenix so I don't have to worry about collecting my luggage and checking it in at ORD. Do I have enough time for my connecting flight? Apologies for my ignorance but this is my first time connecting to ORD airport...your advice will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

On arrival at Terminal 3 simply look for the ATS train sign taking you to the upper road level of Terminal 5; at T5, proceed to go through security check and on to your connecting M gate ( M1-21wraps around the concessions Court: to the left (gates M10-M21) and to the right (gates M9-M1) - prepare yourself for long walks from check-in to gates. You have enough time.

You have very little if any room for delays as you will have to go through security again in T5 when you get there.

Thanks, Sajul and Zap for the reply...really appreciated. I am quite worried about the security part in case there are too many people on line. By any chance, they make an exception and prioritize those that have a really tight boarding time?

Sometimes if you ask you can get to the front of the line if you have a tight connection.

Thanks again Zap. I have called AA and asked them to re-book me to an earlier flight with no extra charge. I have explained that the connecting time was too tight and there is no way I can miss my flight to Abu Dhabi. They willingly did as I've asked so hopefully I won't have any problems. Thank you so much for your help.

  • Connection time - changing carriers from AA to Virgin Atlantic
    Jul 19, 2014
I am scheduled to arrive at IAD at 3:25 PM on American. I am scheduled to board a Virgin Atlantic international flight to LHR at 6:40 PM. Enough time? Even if the American flight is delayed?

Yes, that should be enough time. You have enough spare room for about 90 minutes of delays.

  • Arrive TBIT at 125 depart Terminal 2 at 330
    Jul 17, 2014
Hi, on August 5th 2014 I am arriving at the TBIT from Fiji at 125 pm and departing from Terminal 2 at 330PM. I am wondering if this is possible, it looks like it might be pretty close. Also, do I have to collect my luggage? and how long does the shuttle usually take?

It will be very tough. If you're a US Citizen you'll be out of Immigration and customs by 2, then it's a 15 minute walk to T2 (I recommend walking, not taking the shuttle). You will have to claim your luggage to go through US Customs. If your bags are tagged through to your final destination you can then re-check after customs. Otherwise you'll have to take them with you to T2.
