  • RDU->JFK->KEF

Hi! We bought 2 separate tickets. One from RDU to JFK on Delta. And then JFK -> KEF on Icelandic Air. It appears that we will land in Terminal 2 and take off in terminal 7. We have about 3.5 hours. From what I have read, we will have to get our luggage then take a Air Train to terminal 7, check in and go through security again? Is this correct? Is this enough time, or should we try and get on an earlier flight? We are flying on a Friday evening. Thanks so much for any help!

Yes, that is correct. 3.5 hours should be enough time.

    Thank you!

  • Transfer from E to C - time required

Hello: I am travelling from YEG thru IAH to Miami - I will clear US immigration prior to departing YEG - I arrive into Terminal E and Depart to Miami from Terminal C - how long will it take to move between the terminals? Any suggestions would be helpful.

You will likely arrive in C because as you mentioned, you already cleared immigration. C and E are directly connected anyway. Your connection will take somewhere between 0 and 15 minutes.

Doing this on 6th December with United, is 1hr 45 min enough time for the connection. Also will I have to change terminals ?

You will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, Then, if you arrive in Terminal C you will go up to the departure level and through security. If you arrive in Terminal B you will take the AirTrain to Terminal C and go through security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time but it doesn't leave much time to spare for delays.

    Thanks for that

  • T3 to T5

Hi. I will arrive O'Hare from Boston through AA at 9:50 am. I need to catch a connecting flight to Seoul (Korea Air) at 11: 30 am. The layover is 1 hr 40 mins. I can check my luggage to final destination. May I know if the time is enough? Is there a shuttle from T3 to T5 which I can stay in secure area? Thank you very much!

There is no shuttle within the secure area for Korean Air passengers. You will have to take the ATS train. You have enough time, even if you have to stop at the counter to get your Korean boarding pass.

We arrive from MAN at 12.30 and our flight to San Diego leaves at 17.35. I know its plenty of time but what are the procedures and will we need to change terminals. Both flights with AA. When we have the to return flights are the procedures different?

You will arrive in T8, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go up to the departure level and through security. On your return towards Manchester, you will not have to do anything at JFK other than walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hello, Due to a flight change that I've inadvertently accepted I only have 1 hour and 45 minutes to get from International terminal 7 to International terminal 3. My flight in lands at 10:50am and my flight out at 12:45pm. The flight out is from LAX to Phoenix, but the flight continues to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico after a stop over. My flight is this Saturday, is there anything I can do to help myself out? I've contacted US Airways (who my second flight is with) and they have said there is a $200 rebooking fee if I miss it, which isn't ideal. If I can pay extra to get in some kind of express line for customs etc. I'd be happy to do it. Thanks in advance!

I'm confused. If you're flying LAX-Phoenix on your first flight then why are you worried about connecting in LAX? Phoenix doesn't have a Terminal 7. Please state your entire itinerary and what airlines you are flying for each segment and I will be able to help you better. Also, US Airways no longer uses Terminal 3 at LAX.

Apologies about that. Melbourne to LA (united airlines landing int terminal 7), landing 10:50am LA to Phoenix (US Airways, booked seperately to previous flight, leaves at 12:45pm after a flight change) from int terminal 3. One more flight on the same US airways booking from Phoenix to Puerto Vallarta Mexico after that. I might just tack on another qs- i'm surprised that my US airways flight from LAX to Phoenix is leaving from int (i assume this means international?) terminal 3 given that it's domestic. Will i need to be at check in 45 minutes (domestic) or 90 (international) before departure? I can also check in for my US airways flight before i leave on my United flight, i assume i should do this? Thank you for your help!

United flights from Melbourne are arriving in the TBIT. US Airways no longer uses Terminal 3 - your US Airways flight will depart from Terminal 4. You can check in 45 minutes before departure. Yes, you should check in online for your US Airways flight before you leave Melbourne. You have enough time in LAX for your connection. T4 is directly next to the International Terminal. Since you have to take your bags to T4 to re-check yourself, follow the sign at the exit of customs for passengers ending their journey in Los Angeles, not the one for connecting passengers.

    Thanks!!!!!

We are flying in February from Austin to Salt Lake City. AUS-IAH UA4972, then IAH-SLC UA141. We'll have 48 minutes to change planes. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will likely arrive in Terminal B and depart from Terminal C. The TerminaLink train connects them inside security. You don't have much time to spare in case of delays though.

I'm arriving to Terminal B. Where do I get the shuttle to Alamo car rental?

On the lower level of Terminal B, take Shuttle Bus #22 or #55 to the Rental Car Center.

H! I I'm Travelling from US to Philippines and Ill be checking in in Fayetteville Regional Airport via US airways and will transfer to Asiana Airlines at JFK bound to South Korea.. I have 2 concerns, If I check in in a Fayetteville Regional Airport , Do I have to get my luggage when I reach JFK and recheck it in again to Asiana Airlines? and My Layover time is 2 hours to transfer from US airways to Asiana Airlines in JFK will it enough? Please reply.

Did you purchase all your tickets together on one reservation or not? If you did then you won't have to claim your bags and you won't have to touch them until you get to the Philippines.

I purchased them all together. Ill be flying from Fayetteville, NC Regional Airport to Charlotte Intl Airport then To JFK via US airways then from there ,will be Asiana Airlines. How about the layover time from US aiway terminal to Asiana Arline terminal in JFK, is 2 hours enough ?Thanks for the reply by the way..

Yes, that should be enough time. You just have to take the AirTrain from Terminal 8 where you arrive to Terminal 4, get your Asiana boarding passes if you don't already have them, and then go through security. 2 hours should be plenty of time.

  • baggage transfer from Costa Rica via Houston to Chicago

Does baggage checked in San Jose, Costa Rica go through immigration in Houston or Chicago if there is a 1 hr 16 mins between connections? Which terminal does UA1187 arrive in and UA1447 leave?

You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You will arrive in Terminal E and depart from Terminal E or C, likely C. Your connection time is 14 minutes below the minimum International->Domestic connection time at IAH, but you have a good chance of making it and if you do miss it, United has lots of IAH-ORD flights.

Yes, it is enough time, but it leaves little to no time to spare in case of delays.

I will travel from Seoul Korea to Peru by AA flights and have transferring in DFW. I only have 1hr and 30 mints to transfer. Will I have enough time ?

Yes, that should be enough time but just barely. You should not have to claim your bags when going through customs because you are on an International to International itinerary, so that will save some time. Both of your flights will be in Terminal D.

  • Quebec (YQB)-Melbourne (MEL) via EWR and LAX
    Nov 12, 2014

Flying from Quebec, Canada to Melbourne, Australia via EWR and LAX - same booking all the way through with UAL. Am wondering: - no pre-border clearance at YQB, so will I have to go through US Customs at EWR or LAX? - flight to LAX arrives T7 and flight for Australia departs same terminal, will I have to retrieve my bags for US customs then go through check-in again or do they have a bag-drop there after customs? Layover is 2:10 at EWR and 3:50 at LAX. Return trip is through same airports but UA99 ex-MEL arrives TBIT and my connection to EWR flies out from T7 2h10 later (figure it should be enough to retrieve bags, do customs, then do security again at T7). Appreciate any info on this.

On your way to MEL, in EWR you will arrive in Terminal C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. In LAX all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. On the return trip you will go through the US Customs and immigration process in LAX. All your connection times should be sufficient.

Thanks very much for that info, Zap. It's much appreciated.

  • travelling sfo to mumbai via newark

Hello I am travelling to mumbai via newark from sfo. I have a morning flight at 8.20 with a layover of 4 hrs. i need to know whether I will be starting my international journey from SFO itself or I need to recheck in Newark again. Again I'll be travelling back from mumbai to SFO two weeks later with the same way with 2 hrs connecting time.I need to know how much time is needed for connecting in Newark to SFO flight considering have to complete the formalilties for Advance Parole in Newark. Thnks.

On your way to Mumbai all you have to do in Newark is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your connection times are long enough.

thank you I need to know is 2 hrs time enough at Newark airport to catch my connecting flight for SFO on my return journey. I have to complete Advance Parole formalities. those take a tad bit longer if there is long wait. I am not sure of Newark airport. SFO has quite a crowd hence was concerned.

Yes, that should be enough time. If you do miss your connection it is not that bad because United has lots of other EWR-SFO flights throughout the day.
