  • Connection from T3 to T1 at FCO with one baggage for Check-in
    Jul 12, 2014
    1
I am landing from Delhi by Air India at 1905 hours at T3. I have connecting flight of Alitalia from T1 to Barcelona at 2120 hours. I have in hand one piece of baggage in Air India flight, which is to be checked-in on Alitalia flight to Barcelona at FCO airport. I need your urgent help to guide me. Firstly how to proceed at FCO T3 after Immigration Check for T1 departure. (by walk or some free shuttle bus or train/tube) Secondly, where I have to give one piece of checked-in baggage. Will there be any Alitalia transfer check-in counter at T3 or I have to carry bag and go and give at T1 check-in counter. PLEASE ASSIST AND GUIDE.

First, I assure you that you have enough transfer time - even if you need to collect & re-check-in your bags. If you bought both legs of the journey on one ticket, or your India-departing airline will make baggage transfer to your Alialia flight (check first) - all you need to do after immigration procedure is to watch signs to 'Boarding Area' (T1 has Boarding Area B: gates B1-B30 (B14-B23 on ground level, & B27-B30 (by escalator); and B1-B13 on first level). All boarding areas are connected. NOTE: If your first airline does not transfer bags to your second one, you need to claim your bags & re-check them in with Alitalia at T1.

  • 90 minutes for transfer

We will arrive at ORD T5 on Aug 9 at 7AM by flight AI127 from India and take AA1597 at 9AM from T3 for Mexico City. The airline ticketing office thinks its enough time for customs and transfer.I am quite worried about the short time for transfer. Any suggestions please!

Yes, this should be enough time. Immigration is not busy early in the morning. You can also check in for your AA flight online before you leave India.

Thank a lot! I am much relieved now.

I'm flying from Amsterdam through Houston to Austin. What's the least amount of time I need to get through customs to my connecting flight? Thanks!

90 minutes is the minimum intl -> domestic connection time at IAH.

  • Security check required at T1?

I am traveling from Canada to China and stopping at the U.S. My plane lands at T1 and the other plane takes off at T1. Will I have to take my baggage with me and do I have to go through security check?

Where in Canada are you coming from? If it is somewhere with US Immigration preclearance you will only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, nothing with security or your baggage. However if you're coming from somewhere without preclearance (London, Regina, Quebec City) then you will actually arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with United, then take the ATS train to T1 and go through security.

Thank you for your reply. I'm coming from Toronto. So does that mean I don't have to go through all the security?

I have a very short time between my connection, so short that it was bought as 2 separate tickets because any airline would not advise such a short time between connections. But I have to risk it because I am trying to make a deadline. Anyway i know I arrive at terminal D from one flight, and then have to catch my next one at terminal. Can one walk between the 2 terminals or do you have to get a shuttle? Thanks in advance as I'm sure this question has been asked several times

It's difficult to walk between terminals but not impossible. Good luck. Check in for all your flights online before you leave.

I'm flying from Vancouver arriving 9:00 p.m.o on Westjet to T3 and connecting to an American flight leaving T1 at 11:30 p.m. for Miami. Will I have to pick up bags in T3 and will I have to go through security again?

Westjet and American have an Interline agreement, so you can show the Westjet Agent in YVR your American confirmation and hopefully they will be willing to tag your bags through to Miami for you. Your American flight will actually leave from Concourse D which is connected by train to both T1 and T3, so if your bags are transferred automatically you can just take the train from Concourse E where you will arrive to Concourse D where you will depart. However, if Westjet will not tag your bags through to Miami you will have to claim them in the T3 baggage claim and take the shuttle to T1 to check them with American, then take the train from T1 to concourse D. You should still have enough time to do that assuming your flight from Vancouver is on-time.

I'm arriving JFK at 06:00 hrs via cathay pacific. Connecting flight, JetBlue, to CHS at 07:45 hours. I have just a carry on. Is 1 hour and 45 minutes sufficient for me to go through custom and transfer from terminal 7 to terminal 5? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time, especially considering you will have no checked baggage. To save time you can also check in to your JetBlue flight on-line before leaving Hong Kong.

Hi, i'm flying into JFK on august 3rd at 15-50 pm to terminal 8, my flight from JFK to Miami is at 18-39 pm i dont know which terminal? would i be able to make it? Do i have to go through US customs in JFK?

Where are you flying into JFK from? What airline are you flying to Miami? I can't answer your questions without that information.

Im flying to JFK from Helsinki by Finnair Im then travelling to Miami with Delta (they said it would be terminal 2 or 4)

Yes, you unfortunately won't know what terminal your Miami flight will use until the day before. (you can check-online at Delta.com). You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs in Terminal 8. If your purchased tickets together and your bags are tagged through to Miami you can then re-check them in Terminal 8, otherwise you will have to take them with you to T2 or T4 via the airtrain and check them at the Delta counter there (and pay a checked bag fee). Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. Note that if you end up in the wrong Delta terminal, you can still go through security there as Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security between T2 and T4.

Thanks for your answer! But would 2 hours 50 minutes be enough?

I'm flying in on Sun Country arriving at JFK at 10:34am and then flying out again on Asiana at 1pm. Do you foresee any problems with this?

It should be doable as long as your sun country flight isn't heavily delayed. You will have to transfer your bags yourself from Sun Country to Asiana.

Hi, I am arriving from Tel Aviv to JFK on Saturday 5:11 AM. I have the next flight to SFO (both booked together via 1 reservation at Delta) at 7:00 AM. Will I be able to make it? TNX!

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 4 where you will clear US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with Delta. Then you will go to the departure level and go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in Terminal 4.

flying from Rome to Toronto with a connecting flight at JFK..tickets were booked together and are with British Airways..both will be in T8... I have 1:40 min ... is this enough time and will I have to collect my checked bags and recheck them?

Both flights will be operated by American. Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags with American, then go to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Toronto. You should have enough time but there's very little extra time in case of delays.

  • Checked baggage transfer from terminal 2 to terminal 4

Hi. we have a connecting flight from terminal to terminal 4 run by delta. Will they transfer my checkin luggage or do I have to take to terminal 4 with me. I am concerned as layover is just 1hr 37

Yes, your bags should be transferred automatically. Delta runs a shuttle bus inside security between T2 and T4 so if your inbound flight is on-time you should have plenty of time for your connection.

Hi, I'm travelling from Puerta Vallarta to Minneapolis with United. I have an 1:35 minutes connection time in IAH to catch my flight to MSP. FLight s are all booked together. Do I have enough time to clear immigration and customs? And also what terminal will I be arriving abd departing from. Thank you

You will arrive in Terminal E where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags with United. Then you will go up to the departure level and through security. Your flight to MSP will depart from Terminal B or C, C is directly connected to E, while you can take the TerminaLink train inside security to B.

Thank you. So do I have enough time to still make my flight to MSP? I only have 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Yes, that should be enough time, but doesn't leave much time to spare in case of delays.
