I have a flight from Vienna to Chicago through LHR. Arriving at terminal 3, departing from T5. What do i have to do to get on the right flight? do i have to go through security or UK immigration, or claim and re-check my baggage?

DId you buy your tickets separately or together? What airlines are you flying?

I bought them together, and its british airlines to london and then american airlines to chicago

You have the terminals reversed. You will arrive in T5 and depart from T3. There is a bus that will take you from T5 to T3. You will go through security in T3 and if you need to get your AA boarding passes you can get them at that time as well.

Actually I double checked and both flights should be in Terminal 3. your connection will be quite easy.

Tkanks a lot, i've already checked-in online and i definitely arrive in T3 (BA) and depart from T5 (AA). But thanks anyway, i wasn't sure in which term. i go thru security..

  • UA from San Juan connect thru ORD to Winnipeg via UA

51 minutes between arrival and departure; what happens if we don't make it?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security. If you miss it due to a late flight you will be rebooked on the next available flight to Winnipeg.

thanks - if arrival is late, next flight isn't 'til next morning - does UA put us in a hotel?

It depends on the reason the flight was delayed.

  • connection on time with terminal transfer?

We're flying from Italy to LA, 1 scale at JKF. Arriving at JFK at 2.10pm Terminal 1 with Alitalia, connecting flight to LA at 4.30 from Terminal 4 with Delta. Do we make it on time? Baggage should be direct Milan-LA so we don't have to to claim baggage and check in again. Do we make it through customs and all in just two hours and a half? Thanks!

You will arrive in T1, go through US Immigration CLAIM YOUR BAGS, go through US customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. YOU HAVE TO CLAIM YOUR BAGS TO GO THROUGH US CUSTOMS, even though they are tagged to LAX. Then you will take the AirTrain from T1 to T4 and go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your Alitalia flight is on-time.

I will arrive Delta T5 at 2.30 pm and I will departure Southwest T1 at 3.45 pm. I have two checked suitcase. Do I have enough time to connect flight? How I can get T1?

You will have a tough time to make that connection unless your flight arrives early. You likely won't have your bags until close to 3. That already puts you at the bag check cutoff for Southwest. T5 and T1 are connected by a shuttle bus that runs on the lower level outside security.

  • Delta - Delta Connection/ExpressJet Airlines

I fly in on Delta and fly out on Delta Connections/ExpressJet Airlines with 1 hr layover. Is the Express Jet at the same terminal and close to Delta....will it be an easy connection? I looked on the MSP airport map but can't find Express Jet listed for either terminal.

Delta Connection operated by Expressjet flights use the same terminal as Delta, the Lindberge terminal. Yes, you have enough time.

Hi, i m having connection in ORD, coming in from Heathrow (terminal 5, AA flight) and flying to Lambert, St Louis Int. (terminal 3). Do i have to claim out luggage and re check or will it be transferred for me?

You will arrive in T5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS Train one stop to T3 and go through security and to your departure gate.

We arrive in terminal b at 9:17 and leave out of the international terminal at 10:07 will we have enough time group of 12 will they hold the plane for that large if a group

B is a concourse not a terminal. The Plane Train connects all concourses inside security. Yes, you should have plenty of time. They may hold the flight a few minutes, but not indefinitely.

Hi I know that I can travel to A using AIRTRAIN but give me some specific train number or any sign that I can understand this is my train means LAST STATION or ANY NUMBER?

Its from T-B to T-A and also for T-A to T-B.

The AirTrain is a very simple train. It just goes from a larger train station and parking area to the three terminals. There are no train numbers. In the station there will be a sign showing which side of the platform to board on to get to Terminal A.

Hi I booked my ticket to nashville from mumbai with Newark stop of 5 hrs. So I need to check in my hand luggage to UNITED counter and make my boarding card OR directly go to SECURITY?

After you clear customs there will be a transfer desk right there. Assuming your bags are tagged to BNA, you can re-check your bags there. You do not have to take them up to the departure level or to any other terminal with you.

  • 50 minute layover enough time?

Hi, I am considering buying a ticket and am wondering if I have enough time to make the following connection: Arriving at 11:20 AM on a United Airlines domestic flight (from ROC), and departing on an American Airlines domestic flight (to LAX) at 12:10. Thank you very much for your advice!

Without checked bags and if you check in for your AA flight online before you leave ROC, that's enough time. But with two tickets purchased separately if you have checked bags you will not have enough time to transfer them.

Hi, i will arrive at 2:43pm in Houston from Cancun with a united airplane. My Connection fight departs at 4:05pm with lufthansa to frankfurt. Is that enough time? Do i have to claim my luggage And re check it? Thanks

That should barely be enough time. The United policy is that because you are on an International to International connection you will not have to claim your bags, but please confirm that with the united staff in Cancun and Houston. Also, note that you will still have to go through US Immigration and Customs.

Coming in from YYZ stopping in ORD connection to a Wichita bound flight. 90 min layover. Staying in terminal one all United flight as well. Do we have to claim out luggage and re check or will it be transferred for us

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. One or more of your flights may actually be in Terminal 2, but it is connected to Terminal 1 inside security by a walkway if you need to go between terminals.

I am flying from Lincoln, NE to Munich, Germany with international connection at ORD. my connection time to make my change for the Munich flight is 1 hr. 49 min. Is this possible

Yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Flying from naples to rome on Alitalia then rome to Atlanta on delta we have 11/2 hr to connect but do we have to go from terminal 1 to terminal 5 and then g for flight or just term1 to gate g? I am so confused!

No, your bags will be checked through to Delta. All you have to do is go to your departure gate in the T3 Satellite and show your documents to the Delta desk there.

    Thank you so much

  • IST-ORD-DEN 1.5 hour connection in ORD

I'm flying on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul, connection time in Chicago is 1.5 hours before United flight to Denver. I won't have checked luggage. Is 1.5 hour enough connection time in Chicago?

Yes, that should barely be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS train to Terminal 1 and go through security and to your departure gate.

Thank you. I don't have checked bags, so would 1.5 hours be plenty of time, or does "barely enough time" already assume I have no checked bags?

Yes, having no checked bags makes it a lot easier, there's a special lane for people with no checked bags.

  • Terminal C to Terminal A on Skylink

I'll be connecting in DFW with about an hour layover if my first flight is on time. Does the Skylink train that goes in the direction of the A terminal stop at both stations in the A terminal? Or should I get off at the first stop even if it's not closer to my gate? I don't want to risk having to take the entire train loop if my first flight is delayed.

All stations are served by trains going both directions.
