  • Air Tahiti > LAX > MSP

Arriving on Air Tahiti @ 8:15am on a Saturday. Any issues making a connecting flight with United to MSP at 11:00am? I assume getting to Spirit by 10:00am isn't realistic? Thanks!

Yes, I would take the 11 AM United flight. Lines at Spirit can be pretty long so I definitely wouldn't risk that.

Will I reclaim my checked baggage in LAX after it arrived from Atlanta, before going to Sydney, or will it continue on without re-checking it? On my flight back to the US from Sydney. The flight arrives at 8:00 AM with the flight I need to connect back to leaving at 9:33 AM. Is that enough time? What do I need to do once I arrive back in LA baggage wise? Never been to LAX so I'm clueless on baggage claim, etc... Help! Please! :)

Forgot to add I am flying with Delta. I have no idea what gates yet.

On your way to Sydney you don't have to do anything with your baggage, just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. On your flight home, when you get to LAX you will go through US Immigration in T5, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with Delta, then go up to the departure level and go through security and to your departure gate to Atlanta.

Thank you so much! You helped to ease my mind. :)

  • DTW to VIE via AMS with Delta/KLM

Is one hour five minutes going to be enough time to transfer in AMS from a Delta flight from DTW to a KLM flight to VIE? Thanks!

Yes, it should be AMS is made to handle somewhat tight connections, even when you have to go through Schengen passport control.

Hey m flying from United States to Delhi India so I have 50 min transit, just wondering if I'll have enough time to figure out the way, first time flying overseas.. :/

It will be fairly simple as both flights are non-schengen so you won't have to go through passport control, just security at your departure gate.

We are people travelling from Milan to EWR. Landing at 1:30pm and have connecting flight at 4:30pm at Terminal A. Enough time to get through customs and to Terminal A?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

  • Port of Entry at IAD

I will be landing by Lufthansa flight operated by United at 3.10pm and will have 1hr 40min to board another flight to Buffalo. I have a single ticket and all my tickets are booked by Lufthansa and both flights are operated by United Airlines. Being International passenger on student visa port of entry will be at IAD. I am worried whether the time (1hr 40min) is sufficient for Port of Entry procedure. Secondly, my flight will land at C Terminal and departure flight is at D Terminal, will the port of entry procedure done at C terminal and I can board flight at D gate or I have to go to different terminal. Lastly about my checked in baggage, do I need to recheck in the baggage if yes then at which terminal? Are the baggage recheckin facilities available at C/D terminal.

1 hr 40 minutes is sufficient. IAD only has one terminal. C and D are two concourses and are in fact just two sides of the same concourse building. You will go through US Immigration in Concourse C, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with United, all in Concourse C. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate.

Thanks ZAP, with your advise I am confident that I will be clearing all within stipulated time. Thanks a lot again.

  • Where to meet someone?

My boy friend arrives to terminal C or D (Delta from Atlanta) and I will be arriving 2 hours later to terminal B (United Airlines from Houston). He will pick me up but we don´t know where. Could you recommend us a place? Where should we meet?

There's not really any places between the terminals. Since he arrives first maybe he should meet you in the Terminal B Baggage claim - there's a shuttle between C/D and B.

Baggage claim is outside security? He won´t have any problems to get there if he went out to take the bus from one terminal to another?

Yes, Domestic baggage claims are always outside security.

I´m arriving to JFK at 06:10 am (T4). I must claim my luggage and take it to a new check in to Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific (T7) at 10:00 am. Any similar experience? do you think I can make it? thanks

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Just take your baggage with you on the AirTrain.

  • USAIRWAYS CONNECT TO ICELANDAIR

I am flying from CLT to JFK and then taking Icelandair to KEF. I have to pick up my baggage from USair before checking in with Icelandair. I'm not sure which terminal USair uses now that they've merged with AA, and I don't know twhich terminal Icelandair uses. I would like to know exactly how to get from the USair baggage claim area to the Icelandair check-in. Thank you.

US Airways has moved to Terminal 8. Icelandair uses Terminal 7. You get between them using the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train.

Arrive in Rome on US Air and connect to Alitalia for Palermo on separate ticket. Do I have to claim bag and go through security again . How much time

You can ask the US Airways agent in your origin city if they can check the bag through to Palermo by showing your Alitalia confirmation as US Airways and Alitalia do have an interline agreement. Otherwise you will have to claim your bag in Rome and take it to Terminal 1 to re-check. If you do get your bag checked through to Palermo by US Airways, you can just go directly to Terminal 1 to get your boarding pass after clearing immigration. I would leave at least 2 hours for your transfer, preferably closer to 3.

  • Arriving at DTW from LAX, connection to Amsterdam

We are flying from LAX on 3rd Sept 2014 to DTW and have 39 minutes to connect on to flight to Amsterdam. All on the same Delta ticket. Do we need to collect bags or go through immigration/security or can we go straight to the next gate - will 39 mins be enough? Thanks

You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US. All you have to do in DTW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be on the A concourse of the McNamara Terminal. Yes, you should have enough time if your flight from LAX is on-time.

Thank you very much, that puts my mind at ease!

  • Time needed from terminal 3 to International terminal

I will be transferring from United in terminal 3 to an International flight to London on United. I originally had just over 2 hours but now see that they've changed my arriving flight and now only have 75 minutes. Is this enough time? Can I go directly to the international terminal without having to pass through security again? Going through security could take precious time. Should I book an earlier flight into SFO?

Yes, there is a walkway between T3 and the International Terminal inside security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Transit through EWR

I am flying in from Toronto and transiting through EWR to London UK. I will pass through US customs in Toronto. Will I have to collect my bags and go through US customs again in EWR and check bag again?

No, your arrival into EWR will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you are flying United you will arrive in Terminal A or C and depart from Terminal C.

If I fly in using Air Canada my outbound airline will be Virgin Atlantic. Does the above still apply?

You still don't have to go through US Immigration or customs on arrival. However if your tickets were not purchased together and your bags are not checked through to LHR you will have to claim them in Terminal A and take them on the AirTrain to Terminal B to check with Virgin Atlantic. Even if they are checked through, you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal B, get your Virgin Atlantic boarding pass, and go through security.

Many thanks for the feedback - great service

My flight from LAX arrives at IAH at 7:50 pm connecting flight to SCL(Santigo Chile) is 1 hour and 15 min later will I be able to make this connection? do I have have to go back through security and get my luggage???

No, assuming both of your flights are on United you do not have to go through security or do anything with your baggage, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate, which will likely be in Terminal C to your departure gate in Terminal E. C and E are directly connected.

  • Is 45 mins enough time for connection (ARN-FRA-IAD)
    Aug 1, 2014
    1
Flt from ARN arriving 12:15; flt to IAD departing 13:10. Do I have to go through immigration, etc. OR is there separate internat'l departure? What gates do I arrive/depart?

You will go through Schengen exit passport check and then security at your departure gate. You won't know your exact gates until the day of your flight. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
