  • Enough time to clear customs from Australia for connection
    May 14, 2015
    2
Our daughter will be flying in to LAX terminal B on Qantas at 0630 on a Saturday. I need to book her flight home to HOU. Southwest has a 10:20 am flight. Even if the flight is slightly delayed, do you think almost 4 hours gives her time to clear customs, recheck bags and get to Terminal 1? I was hoping customs would not be very busy at 0630 on a Saturday....

Yes, 4 hours should be enough time to make the transfer. She will have to take her bags with her to Terminal 1. If she drops her bags at the re-check desk in the international terminal, they will be lost.

Oh that is good to know. Thanks so much for your help!!

  • INTERNATIONAL & DOMESTIC CONNECTOR FLIGHTS (BAHRAIN TO LAS VEGAS)
    May 14, 2015

If i am flying in from Bahrain and arriving at 0640am and plan on purchasing a seperate domestic flight from IAD to LAS that departs at either 0730/0818 or 0830.; will have enough time to process through all check points and make my connector flight? And if not, what is the recommended process to speed things up. Also, how much time do i need to set aside to make a connecting flight?

730 would be definitely impossible. 8:18 would be likely impossible and 8:30 would be barely possible. This is because you are buying separate tickets and will have to transfer to the main terminal, then bring your bags up to the departure level and wait in line to check them in with the next airline. if you are not checking bags, I think the 8:30 flight would probably be possible.

Thanks for the help. I figured it was a long shot. I will just book a later flight.

  • International transfers

Hi, I will fly via JFK to Nassau/Bahama My flight will arrive at 11:20 am from Istanbul to JFK Terminal 1 and my next flight will be at 13:55 pm to Nassau from Terminal 5. Do I need to collect my luggage and re-check again? If so do I have enough time to do this? Thanks

You will arrive in Terminal 1 go through US Immigration, claim your bags and go through US Customs. If you purchased your tickets together and your bags are tagged through to NAS you can then re-check them right there at the re-check desk. If you purchased separate tickets and your bags are not tagged to NAS you will have to take them with you on the AirTrain to T5, check them, and then go through security and to your gate. You should have enough time.

Many thanks for your reply. Just to be clear; as my bags are tagged through NAS, now I only need to show my ticket to re-check desk, right? No need to collect my luggages and carry with me to T5.

Yes, if your bags are tagged through to NAS you can re-check them at the transfer desk in T1 and don't have to bring them with you to T5.

  • Fastest Option T5 to 4

Landing at T5 flight delayed, very close on the transfer, is it faster to walk to terminal 4 for international flight or take the airport train?

You cannot walk between terminals, you have to take the train.

  • Preclearance from Abu Dhabi on Etihad EY 103
    May 11, 2015

My Family is coming at JKF from Abu Dhabi on Flight EY 103, did they would get Preclearance there? and if do get Preclearance at AHU then what should they do next at Arrivals at JKF before exit the JFK? can any one help because they are travelling alone and first time to USA

They will go through preclearance in Abu Dhabi. All they will have to do at JFK is claim their bags at a baggage claim. Etihad personnel can tell them which baggage claim they will get their bags on and in fact they may even announce it as their flight arrives at the gate in JFK.

Thanks for much appreciated quick response. As far as guess that their arrival terminal is 4. Do they have any separate exit point for such passengers ? or they will go through the same lounge of CB Counters ?

They will exit with the domestic arrivals.

  • 55 min. between connecting flights
    May 10, 2015

I would like to know if 55 min. give me enough time to go through terminal S to terminal I. It´s a flight from New Orleans to Atl. to Buenos Aires (Argentina). Will my bags go directly from New Orleans to Buenos Aires?. I would also like to know if I have to pass security or any other check point between terminal S and I. Thank you.

Yes, your bags will be transferred. All you have to do is take the plane train to concourse E or F. You do not have to go through security.

Does 55 min. give me enough time to get from terminal S to terminal I? Its a flight from New Orleans to Atl to Buenos Aires (Argentina).

You don't actually have to change terminals. You just have to take the Plane Train from your arrival concourse to your departure concourse. You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Meeting my daughter after international flight
    May 10, 2015

Hello all. My daughter is flying in from Vienna, Austria on Austrian Airlines. I am flying in from Detroit and meeting her at the airport. I am arriving about 1 1/2 hours before her, and would like to meet her at her gate when she arrives. We will both be arriving in Terminal B according to the EWR website. My question is will I be able to meet her as she deplanes and walk with her to the customs area, or does her Austrian Air flight arrive in a different area and she has to go through customs prior to me being able to see her. It's a matter of me bringing only a carry on and staying in the terminal until I can see her, or checking a bag and picking it up in baggage claim outside the secure area, and having to meet her at Austrian Air baggage claim. Thanks for the help.

You will have to meet her at the exit of customs.

  • Is a 2hr10min international transfer possible?
    May 10, 2015

Hi all, I'll be landing at terminal 1 at 18:20 (from Japan) and departing at 20:30 from terminal 8 (to Brazil). My flights were all booked with Japan Air Line but the flight to Brazil is a codeshare operated by TAM. Usually 2 hours is enough time for international transfers but since I need to re check my luggage in JFK I'm concerned! Considering I need to clear immigration, collect my luggage, re check my luggage, then transit from T1-T8 on the skytrain... do I have any chance of making this connection? Many thanks in advance for any advice or info! Lee

Just wanted to ask if we check in for this flight at Swiss or Helvetic counters? Also the flight is at 6:50 AM, if we arrive at the airport at 5:20 AM, will that be good enough? The shuttle at Holiday Inn Express ZRH starts at 5: 00 AM

Yes, arriving at the airport at 5:20 AM should be fine. You will check in at the Swiss counters.

Flying from Saskatoon June 13th ( YXE) 5:55am to MSP(arrives at 8:54am) , I have an hour and 20 mins layover. Will I be able to make it through security/customs if I have to catch my connecting flight to BNA wich departs at 10:14am.

Yes, that should be enough time. The small jet flights from Regina and Saskatoon are the only international arrivals at MSP that early in the morning, so there should be no lines at immigration.

  • ORD==> PHL ==> TLV

I'm traveling from ORD to PHL and then to TLV, all through US airways. I get in to PHL at 7:50pm and my flight to TLV leaves at 9:05PM. Will I have enough time to make my connection? Also, does the shuttle take me to my connection flight? Thanks!

You don't need to take a shuttle. You can just walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will have plenty of time if your flight from Chicago is on-time.

  • Connecting Flight and baggage claim

Hi, I have a United Airlines flight from Delhi to Newark on 16th May . I reach Newark at Terminal C on 17th May at 5.30 am and have a United Airlnes flight to Washington DC from terminal C at 10:30 am. Will I have to go through immigration and customs in Newark or Washington? If in Newark, then after getting cleared from Immigration and customs where do I put my luggage so that it goes to my Washington flight ? id there a transfer desk , if yes then where ? Or i will have to check in again and give my luggage at the luggage counter.

In Newark, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk immediately after customs. Then check the departure terminal for your flight to Washington - it could depart from A or C. You might have to take the AirTrain to your departure terminal. You have PLENTY of time.
