  • Seattle to Denver via Inchon
    Jul 5, 2014

I am flying into Seattle from Inchon South Korea. I booked a separate flight on United the same day. I arrive at 1:10pm and then my domestic flight is at 5:00pm. Is that enough time to get through immigration, recheck in, security etc? thanks

You will arrive at the South Satellite of SEA, where you will go through immigration clearance, pick up checked luggage, continue to customs (taking 30-60 minutes), then re-check-in your bags and go through TSA security screening prior to proceeding to your connecting flight. ( If you have duty-free liquid items, put them in our checked luggage to prevent confiscation at the security checkpoint.) United uses both the North Satellite (gates N1-6) & Concourse A (gates A1-14.) A shuttle train runs between N & S gates, and between the South Satellite and the main terminal. As you bought 2 separate tickets, you may need 2 boarding passes. You have plenty of time.

  • what are those terminal cars at ATL?

I've always wondered how you can hitch a ride on those terminal cars that I see transferring passengers from terminal to terminal. My mom will be traveling with my 93 year old grandmother in October and I am worried about the transfer and walking distances for her at ATL. Does anyone know what those cars are for and how to get one?

You have to request wheelchair service from the airline.

Hi there. Im traveling from south africa to orange county with a stop over in paris and atlanta. Im just unsure in regards to the process after i go through customs and immigration. Do i then go to domestic and recheck at the checkin counters? Also does atl have wifi( free? How long?). Need to let the girlfriend know that ive landed etc. thank you

You will arrive in Atlanta in Concourse E/F. There you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then immediately re-check your bags with Delta. Then you will go through a separate security checkpoint just for people connecting to a different flight after arriving on an international flight. Then you can just take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. There's no need to go to the domestic terminal.

Our daughter will arrive with a two year old and too much luggage to handle alone. Are porters available in the customs area to help her get through?

The international arrivals /customs area has free baggage carts. If she needs further assistance, she should approach any employee there to get her through the process.

    Thanks for the insight.

I am flying into PHX from Omaha on US Airways and connecting to a US Airway flight going to Sacramento. Will the gates be close?

The US Airways facility at PHX is not exceptionally large. All US Airways gates at PHX are connected inside security.

  • Can non-traveller go to upto Delta gate TERMINAL B to assist traveler
    Jun 26, 2014

Hi, I would like to know whether a non-traveller can assist a senior person to board the flight and can go along with traveller upto boarding gate and once traveler (senior person) boards the flight then non-traveller can comeout from the airport(ewr). This is for Delta gate TERMINAL B to assist traveler who is more than 65yrs.

You probably can. You will have to go to the Delta check-in counter with this senior person you are accompanying and ask for it.

    Thank you.

4:45 to 5 AM should be fine. However, the North terminal is a bit busy at 6 AM as every airline has departures at that time. They can check-in online and save themselves some time at the airport.

  • Auckland to Vancouver via LAX

We are flying NZ2 arriving LAX 2.45pm and connecting AC1885 departing 6.20pm. this is our first time to Canada and the US. My question are - do we have to do passport control and customs at LAX? Also do we have to change terminals at LAX?

Yes, if you are travelling in the next few months you will arrive in Terminal 2, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then re-check your bags, then you will go up to the departure level and go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in Terminal 2. If you are traveling in several or more months, ANZ will have moved to the International Terminal, so after re-checking your bags you will have to walk from the International Terminal to T2. In either instance you should have plenty of time.

As you travel at non-rush hour between Terminals T4 (Singapore) and T8 (US Airways) one hour transfer should suffice if incoming flight is on time. After arrival and passport check, head for the 'Airline Terminals Train' (follow signs) which runs between all terminals, but counter-clockwise (next stops T2/3, T1, T8), runs about every 10 mins and takes about 8 mins -and you need to go through security check at T8 before proceeding to your connecting gate. T8 has Concourse B with gate 1-16, while near its gate 14 is access to Concourse C with gates 31-47.

I think it will be very difficult to make your connection on-time. You will absolutely have to check in online for your US Airways flight before you depart Europe. By the time you get to T8, it will be definitely past the check-in cutoff.

DEARS I HAVE THE BELOW FLIGHT: BA 049 28JUN LONDON SEATTLE 15:05 16:40 09:35 AS 2627 28JUN SEATTLE PORTLAND 19:15 20:02 00:50 DO I HAVE ENOUGH CONNECTION TIME IN SEATTLE FOR IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES

Yes, that should be plenty of time to make your connection.

JetBlue uses Terminal 5 /T5 (and may sometimes use T4); Air Berlin uses T8. International Arrivals need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance. Since you bought separate tickets, you will need to take your bags thereafter along to the connecting terminal, proceed to the Departures level & check it in with JetBlue; then proceed through security check on to your connecting gate. The 'Airline Terminals Train' on the upper level (follow signs) runs counter-clockwise between all terminals, on average every 10. minutes. After baggage re-check-in at T8 go through security check & on to your connecting gate. A 2-hr transfer time is advisable, but your afternoon arrival/departure may help you get to your connecting gate in time.

  • International Connection- Enough Time?
    Jun 23, 2014

Hello, I'm looking at booking a flight from London Heathrow to Kansas City International via Charlotte. The US Airways flight I'm looking at has a 2 hour, 11 minute layover. I was just wondering whether this would be a reasonable amount of time to go through immigration, customs etc? Thanks for your help!

Yes, that is a reasonable amount of time. Charlotte is not a large airport by International hub standards.

  • Getting from terminal 3 to terminal 5
    Jun 23, 2014
    7
Is there a way to get from term 3 to term 5 without going through security again. We fly in on American Eagle from MLI & leave on BA to LHR. I think both were booked through BA but not 100% sure until I get my itinerary.

Yes, there is a way - BA runs a shuttle bus from T3 to T5 from gates G17 and K20 in T3. However, it only operates once every 30 minutes, so its usefulness is somewhat limited. Also make sure that your LHR flight is operated by BA, if it is operated by AA you will leave from T3.

Thank you. Do you know of any way I could check to see if it's on the hour or half hour that it runs.

Well, it runs every half hour, so I assume it's at the top and bottom of the hour during the late afternoon.

Sorry about that. I've been looking almost all day trying to find out about this before I got to this website & my brain & eyes feel fried. I misread it. Thank you so much.

You will not go through go through customs or immigration in Seattle as both Seattle and San DIego are in the United States. I can't help you any further unless you tell me what airlines you are flying and whether you purchased the tickets together or separately.

i'm flying with KLM , do they have code share with Delta airlines ? I purchased my tickets for san diego to sea-tac , sea-tac to heathrow together. Do i have to take trains to go to departure area or gates once i arrive in sea-tac ? which terminal will i go for my departure to heathrow ? many thanks for your tips !

Yes, Delta and KLM codeshare and in fact all of your flights will be operated by Delta. Both of your flights should be in the S Satellite. On your way to Europe you won't have to do anything with your bags in Seattle - they will be checked through to London in San Diego.

  • Do I need to reclaim my baggage and check back in with a long layover?
    Jun 23, 2014

Hi I am flying from Manchester, UK, to Belize with a 20 hours layover in Atlanta. I have booked myself into a hotel for the layover, however I am a bit confused on whether I collect my bags. Once I get off the plane in Atlanta and go through immigration do I reclaim my luggage and take it to the hotel with me and then check in for my flight to Belize after the 20 hours? Or does my baggage stay there for my flight to Belize?

You can do either, but I would recommend taking your baggage with you and then re-checking it the next morning.

  • Transfers on Alaska from Mexico to Lax to Santa Rosa, CA
    Jun 22, 2014

How much time should I allow to go through customs and immigration at LAX a(Terminal 6--Alaska Air) before taking another Alaska Air flight on to Santa Rosa? I only have carry on bags and will travel on a Saturday evening flight in early November. Thanks!

Minimum Intl->domestic connection time is 90 minutes, however, you may be able to do it a little faster since you'll have no checked bags and early Nov is a pretty dead time of year.

Hello, I left my ASUS tablet on the seat back of AA 294 arriving from El Paso to DFW 10pm Gate C15 20 Jun 14. Went back the 21st and they checked the plane not there. Cleaning crew must have found it. GRAY ASUS pad in a brown case all my school work is there. Left message with AA lost and found Please contact Rey Caraballo 254 449-1748 rey.caraballo@us.army.mil Thank You!

You may also try one of these 3 Lost & Found options at DFW: 1. Travelers Aid at Terminal E: lower level, outside of security, at E4; tel: 972-973-4420. 2. Travelers Aid at Terminal D: in the D15 baggage claim area, outside of security, lower level; tel: 972-973-5050. 3. American Airlines Lost and Found, at Terminal C, inside security across from gate C2. Tel: 972-425-2465; email at dfwlnf@aa.com.

No, I don't think that is enough time. You will need to find an earlier flight. Also delays of inbound domestic flights are very common at JFK and especially during the summer.
