  • Estimated Time through Customs
    Jul 22, 2012

I will be returning to America via Virgin Atlantic @ 12:20pm to JFK and will need to take Shuttle to Newark for 4:30 flight. Can anyone tell me what would be the estimated time from disembarking plane-clearing customs/immigration to getting shuttle? I see the shuttle runs every hour, is this doable or should I try for a later flight in Newark?

You arrive at JFK via Virgin Atlantic at Terminal 4. You need to go through passport check, pick up bag, & go through customs clearance (taking between 35-50 mins). To get to Newark Liberty, you would be able to take the Airtrain, however, it would involve a number of change-overs to subways & is not recommended to someone not familiar with the area. These are the options (other than taking taxi or limo (75-90 mins): (a) AirTrain JFK (877) 535-2478; State Shuttle 800-427-4207 (90 mins.); (b) ETS Air Shuttle 718-221-5341 (1 hr); (c) Newark Liberty Airport Express Bus 877-8-NEWARK (90-125 mins). (d) (For private limos & van service go to Ground Transportation Information Counter in the baggage claim area.)

My Grandma forgot she had baggage (She's become quite forgetful these days) so after leaving the terminal we couldnt go back in to retrieve it for her. We filled out a lost & found form. If any one has any idea how to get it back please email me at lil_janda@live.ca They are 2 black bags, not huge but not small.

Baggage - if properly tagged - is actually the responsibility of airlines. Try to call her airline's Lost & Found Department.

  • Lost of driving license

I lost my driving license on terminal C (valid from 2010-12-06) on July 17, 2012. My cell phone: 86 134 82299001. Many thanks

    1. Try to contact TSA at (908) 787-0667 - if it was found at EWR, they most likely would turn it over to TSA. Definitely contact DMV - best to go there in person for (a) a temporary licence, (b) to avoid someone else using your license.

  • 2 diff flights into CLT, where to meet?
    Jul 18, 2012
    1
I am flying into CLT on domestic flight AA4582 @ 11:10am, my friend is flying in on International flight US733, @ 1:55pm, where would be the best place for us to meet up? I am also thinking of picking up the rental car 1st, is it easy to park? Thank you

As an international arrival at CLT, your friend may spend up to 50 mins with customs clearance procedures. I suggest that upon your arrival at CLT, you head for the rental car counter in the baggage claim area, proceed to the rental car lot, pick up your car and drive to the nearby free cell phone lot, which is opposite the rental car lot and across the West Daily Deck - stay with your car until your party has collected bags and calls you to be picked up at the curb.

Luggage is the responsibility of airlines and their handlers. You need to contact your airline. (google search the name of your airline & find "Lost Baggage".

if i am in transit with a 2 1/2 hour connection, do i still need to collect my luggage and is it enough time ?

If you are an international arrival count between 35 & 60 mins for passport check, baggage pickup, customs clearance & re-checking in bags before continuing to your connecting terminal/gate. IAH has Terminals A - E - your arrival and departure terminal depends on the airlines you use. Look at the ticket and the overhead screens on arrival to find your flight number, terminal & gate and departure time. The TerminaLink train starts its service at the Terminal A station, and connects terminals A, B, C, D/E inside security and makes frequent rounds.

I lost my camera in Terminal C (or on the shuttle) on the evening of July 14th. It was an Orange 14MB Olympus camera (waterprroof, shockproof). I think it was a TG-310. I don't care about the camera, but really want the pictures on the memory card from my vacation.

  • Does Terminal E close

We have a 10 hour layover in IAH, from one afternoon to the next AM. Can we stay within the secured area & wait for our connecting flight?

At IAH, Terminal E is open 24/7 - there is an abundance of restaurants & shops, some of which may be open until late. Google "Sleeping at the Airports" and see your options. You certainly can stay in the secured area, or for that matter in the non-secured area, where you would have to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Are you sure your connecting flight is also in Terminal E, if not open www.ifly.com/iah and click on "Terminal Map", under QUICK LINKS, then scroll down to the detailed text.

Yes, our connecting flight is International, & is at the same "E" Terminal. Thanks. We'll check it all out.
