Arriving from Turkey, on Turkish Airlines, Terminal 1, with a U.S. passport, how much time should I allow to get through customs so I can book my ground transportation.

I'd budget 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Connecting in Detroit to Atlanta
    Sep 30, 2013

My mom is a first time flyer. She is flying Delta airlines. She is flying into Detroit and going to Atlanta and she will only have 43 minutes to find her gate and terminal. Does she have enough time?

Delta uses the McNamara Terminal of DTW, which has Concourses A, B & C (with corresponding gates) - tunnel connects in the center between Concourse A (near gate 38) and Concourses B & C (at Gates C1 of the lower level). On arrival, she should look at the overhead screens and find her connecting flight number & gate; then follow signs to the connecting Concourse. 43 mins should be enough.

  • Getting to American Airline flight #2013 from Great Lakes flight 7196?

Which concourse will the American Airline flight #2013 leave from? And how to get there from Great Lakes gate??

While both American & Great Lakes use Concourse A of the Jeppesen Terminal, be mindful that if you have checked bags, Great Lakes may not transfer them to AA if you bought separate tickets - in which case you would have to claim your bags first and re-check them in with American. Concourse A has gates A24 - A39 and A40 - A68 on either side of the center.

I have trouble walking but hate the thought of a wheel chair. How far is it to get from Delta gate to ground transportation at McCarran Airport?

It's not too far, you take a train for most of the distance.

  • Assurance needed!

My brother, who is traveling alone from PHX to EWR with a 2 hour layover there, then on to AVP, is deaf and slightly mentally challenged (can get confused easily in a new place). I have requested wheel chair assistance from one gate to the next. Will the United FA's take him all the way to his next terminal gate so that he is never left alone to fend for himself??

The people who push the wheelchairs do that as their only job (they are not flight attendants). But yes, they will take him from one plane to the next.

  • 1 hour connection time in SEA: domestic Alaska to International Delta
    Sep 18, 2013

Please help.Delta airlines is offering me a flight on October 27 from San Francisco to Osaka through SEA as follows: DL9122 (operated by Alaska) arrives in SEA at 11:16 a.m. DL183 to Osaka departs at 12:20 p.m. There is only 1h4' transit time from domestic (Alaska) to international (Delta). Do you think this is reasonable ? I will be able ti check my luggage directly to Osaka from San Francisco ? Please help. Cheers, CM

Yes, you will be able to check your bags all the way though to Osaka. If your first flight is on-time you will be OK however you will have to hurry. You will arrive in C, D, or N and depart from S. You might want to look at United's non-stop SFO-Osaka flight if you're worried too much about the connection.

  • Where to meet

My sister is arriving at JFK Terminal 7 at 15.35 (BA flight) - we are arriving from Maine on a JetBlue flight at 16.30..Where should I suggest we meet to travel to NY together?

Meet her at Terminal 7 where she has to go through passport check, pick up her bags & go through customs clearance - an estimated 45-50 min procedure. Upon your arrival at Terminal 5, claim your bags (if needed) and take the 'Airline Terminals Train' (follow signs) to T7 (train runs counter-clockwise between all terminals in the non-secured areas. T7 has a small arrivals level - meet her in front of the transportation information desk. From there, you can take either the Airtrain, bus or taxi to the city (open www.ifly.com/jfk & scroll down towards the end of the text for details.)

I will be on a connectiing flight from Toronto - Charlotte - St. Martin. I have 1:15 in between. I will have checked baggage, do I have to get my luggage? Do I have to go through immigration again? Is 1:15 enough time?

No, you will go through US immigration in Toronto and will not have to claim your luggage in Charlotte or go through immigration there. All you will have to do is go from gate to gate. If your first flight is on-time you will have plenty of time.

  • Customs and Connecting flight Time

I will be landing at EWR from EDI. I have one hour before my connecting flight. Is that enough time to get thru customs and make my next flight?

No, that will probably not be enough time and is likely not a legal connection. I would try to change your connection to a later flight out of Newark if possible.

At EWR Terminal B is for all international arrivals & departures (except those of United Airline). You would arrive at Terminal B (or C if using United, where they go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs, and (if connecting to another flight) re-check-in bags and take the Airtrain to their connecting terminal (if needed). Domestic flight connections would be in Terminal A, (or C for some domestic United flights). On arrival at TA, you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. You may need up to 90 mins for transfer.

  • Quick conneting flight to Honolulu

I am disabled. I can walk a little and stand a little but I'll need a wheelchair or scooter to get from my LAX Delta arrival gate to my connecting DElta flight 50 minutes later to Honolulu. Can I count on quick immediate LAX service to make my connecting flight?

Have you requested wheelchair service from Delta? If so they will make sure you make your connecting flight. Also, all the Delta gates at LAX are fairly close together.

  • 1 1/2 hour layover, can we make it.

We are flying from Canada to New Zealand through LAX. Seems our flight lands in LAX at Terminal 2 and the NZ flight leaves 1 1/2 hours after also out of Terminal 2. Can we make this? We do customs out of Canada, would we also do customs at LAX or is it self contained.

No, since you will pre-clear immigration in Canada, you will just need to go from gate to gate at LAX, since all of Terminal 2 is beyond the same security checkpoint it is a very easy connection, less than 5 minutes.

I'm arriving at Tom Bradley and I know Terminal 3 is very close, and this might seem like a silly question.. From Tom Bradley do you go Left or Right to Terminal 3?

When you exit the doors of the TBIT you turn left to get to T3 (opposite the flow of vehicular traffic)

thank you so much.... you don't know what your reply means to me.. thank you.... :)
