My husband is flying United from the Middle East to Chicago with a stopover in EWR. Will he need to claim baggage and recheck them or will the airline do it for him?

If Newark is the first point where he will enter the United States, he has to claim his baggage after he clears immigration, go through US customs, then re-check his bags. If they are checked through to Chicago then he can just drop them at the re-check desk after exiting customs.

my daughter will be travelling from London to wichita via dfw terminal d , after immigration ,she will then pick up her bags and then go through customs , where are the recheck desks after customs situated to check her bags to witchita ? are they clearly marked or does it involve a search ,she then has to go to terminal a , is this an easy process ? all help appreciated

They are clearly marked. Terminal D is a modern international terminal. She will need to check the monitors after her arrival for her exact departure terminal, as domestic AA flights use several terminals. To get to her departure gate she will go through security in Terminal D then take the SkyLink train, which runs inside security, to her departure terminal and gate.

I'm flying into DFW from London and am concerned about having to stand in a queue at passport control for 2 hours. I can't stand up that long. I'm considering getting wheelchair assistance - but does that mean I just sit in a wheelchair in a queue for two hours getting stared at/commented on by tired brats?

DFW immigration queues are rarely if ever that long. When you have wheelchair assistance they usually take you to an expedited lane so that the employee pushing you doesn't have to waste all his time standing in line.

No, you need to go get a State ID from the Secretary of State.

What international flights do not have to go through customs when they land at DFW Airport?

Flights from Canadian locations with pre-clearance (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Halifax - although not all these places have flights to DFW). There are also some airports in the Caribbean and Ireland that have pre-clearance, but none of these places have flights to DFW either. So, every non-Canadian international flight into DFW has to go through US Immigration and customs.

Traveling on Alaska Airlines, arriving in Seattle at 4:05 pm, and planning to share a taxi with someone arriving on Southwest Airlines at 4:00 pm. Where meet after we claim our luggage to get a taxi?

AT SEA, Alaska uses Satellite North, and Concourses C & D, while Southwest uses Concourse B - Concourses A, B, C & D are connected at post-security, enabling passengers to freely move around without having to leave the secured area. Satellite N (N gates) is linked to the main terminal's North station by continuously running underground loop trains. Best place to meet: Baggage claim level, Arrivals Hall.

I'll be traveling alone with my 1 year old baby from Boston to Peru with a 2 hours layover in Atlanta. On the way back we have 3 hours layover. Is enough time? Also I would like to know if ATL airport count with skycaps to help me with my luggage ?

Your transfer times will suffice. Your arrival at & departure from ATL depends on which airlines you take. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/atl, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text. Bags would be automatically transferred - unless you bought two separate tickets or the other airline does not code-share. Skycaps & carts are available. As to your return: Connecting passengers recheck-in their bags by proceeding to the transit area past baggage claim and turning left to baggage recheck counters, then follow signs to Concourse F Plane Train station or pedestrian walkway connecting to concourses E, D, C, B, A, T, and to the Domestic Main Terminal.

Dear Sirs, I am flying from US to Germany (1st leg Air Canada, 2nd leg Lufthansa). I have only 50 minutes between flights. I am 10-years US visa holder and Croatian (EU) nationality. Would be this time enough to catch connecting flight?

the YVR website has a good guide on how to do various connections at YVR - http://www.yvr.ca/en/navigating-yvr/passenger-guides/connecting-through-yvr.aspx . You will have to go through passport control, but that's it. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • An 1: 51 to go from terminal 8 to terminal 2

I'm flying into LAX from Vancouver on Air Canada terminal 8. once I get there I need to go to terminal 2 Areomexico this flight departs 1:51 after arrival. Do I leave terminal 8 turn left get shuttle to 2 enter terminal 2 then go through security check. Do I have to go up escalator to get to security check. Are the signs very clear. Once I leave security check I go to gate. right.

LAX shuffled many airlines around - Air Canada is now in Terminal 2 (T2), so is AeroMexico. All you need to do is look at overhead screens to find your departing flight & gate number, then follow signs. (At LAX, T2, past the TSA screening are gates 1 & 2 at either side, followed by a food court, and thereafter by gates 4A - 14.

if I am flying from Detroit to Tampa Florida when do I go through customs

Both Detroit and Tampa are located in the United States. Are you flying in to Detroit from somewhere in another country? If so, you go through immigration and customs in Detroit.

Arriving at IAH on UA1563at 8:05 AM departing to Calgary on UA729 at 8:50 AM. Need wheel chair assistance. Can this be done in the 45 minutes allocated?

Have you already called United to request wheelchair assistance? You should have enough time as both flights should be in Terminal C.

When flying from the US through YYZ to Rome, do we need to collect bags to go through customs or do our bags go straight through? Your airport web site says one thing and the airlines say another?

This is not the airport's website. What website are you referring to. What airlines are you flying. I would go with the information currently posted on the official YYZ website - http://www.torontopearson.com/Connecting_from_usa.aspx##

  • Enough Time?

I have a flight from O'hare airport to San Juan, PR at 9:40 am on a Saturday. The carrier is Jetblue. I'll take Van Galder bus and the estimated arrival time at the airport is 8:05. I have bags to check in. Can I make it in 1 hr 35 min? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. It doesn't hurt to check in online before your trip, even if you have a bag to check.

My grandmother will be arriving at paris cdg terminal 2a at 6am but I'm coming from train from holland to pick her up at 12pm so there is a 6 hour waiting period in between . She doesn't speak English and won't have a mobile so where is a good waiting point for me to pick her up? are there chairs at the arrival right outside the 2a arrival hall where she can sit and wait?

six hours is a long time to wait in a small terminal with limited amenities (pharmacy, fast-food, convenience store) - with only the Roissybus directly connecting to Paris Opera. The meeting point is near the central entranc/exit, outside the baggage claim. When arriving at Paris, take the RER Rapid TGV train, taking 45 mins to the Airport. For an terminal maps open http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Access-maps-car-parks/Paris-CDG/maps/.
