  • Enough Time?

I have a flight from O'hare airport to San Juan, PR at 9:40 am on a Saturday. The carrier is Jetblue. I'll take Van Galder bus and the estimated arrival time at the airport is 8:05. I have bags to check in. Can I make it in 1 hr 35 min? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. It doesn't hurt to check in online before your trip, even if you have a bag to check.

  • Arrival waiting area

My grandmother will be arriving at paris cdg terminal 2a at 6am but I'm coming from train from holland to pick her up at 12pm so there is a 6 hour waiting period in between . She doesn't speak English and won't have a mobile so where is a good waiting point for me to pick her up? are there chairs at the arrival right outside the 2a arrival hall where she can sit and wait?

six hours is a long time to wait in a small terminal with limited amenities (pharmacy, fast-food, convenience store) - with only the Roissybus directly connecting to Paris Opera. The meeting point is near the central entranc/exit, outside the baggage claim. When arriving at Paris, take the RER Rapid TGV train, taking 45 mins to the Airport. Hi Virgin Atlantic land at 2.10pm, then next connecting flight is at 5.05pm - will this be plenty of time to get the bags, clear immigration, recheck bags and get they security again?? I don't want to spend too long in the airport but after a ten hr flight, do not want to miss the connection either. Thanks

Yes, that should be plenty of time. What airline are you flying to Las Vegas?

Sorry, I see that you are connecting in Las Vegas to SFO. What airline are you flying to SFO?

Virgin America to sfo, virgin Atlantic from England.

OK, good, both of them are in the same terminal - you will have plenty of time.

Thanks for replying. I was concerned about the plane being delayed or just taking a long time to retrieve bags and clear security again.

can I go to the gate to pick up my father (late 80s)

Usually no, if he has wheelchair service they will bring him out and you can meet him in the baggage claim and if not can he find the baggage claim on his own? It's well marked.

  • Terminal 5 nightmare canadian passport with us green card
    Jan 22, 2014
    1
Yesterday evening coming back to Chicago from Puerto Vallarta after 1 week vacation, I was not allowed to go through the Us/Canadian resident passport holder entry line. Because i had a Canadian passport with a Us perm. resident card, i was not allowed to go through that line. I had to go through immigration with others traveling from other countries on a visa, who are non us residents or hold a green card. Horrible nightmare. Officers and staff disorganized. They did not have an answer for why Canadian passport holder with green card could not be processed in the US/CAN. line. I have travelled back and forth to the US with a green card for over 15 years. This was a nightmare, with over 60 mins. to be processed and the other line took less than 10 mins.

Big Deal!!! now you know how the rest of us feel

  • Within terminal 8

My baggage is checked all the way from Cleveland to India . Im travelling via qatar airways. So once I reach arrival terminal 8 how do I go to departure terminal 8 . Is there connection within terminal 8 arrival n departure.or I've to take a bus .if walkable would there be signs at arrival that would direct us to departure.

Terminal 8 is just two buildings connected by an underground tunnel. Since CLE-JFK is a domestic flight all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in JFK.

  • NRT-ORD-SAT

I am an international traveler. I will take a flight from NRT (Japan) to ORD (Chicago USA) on this Sunday, 12 Jan. My flight will arrive at 3:00pm and I need to take another flight from ORD to SAT ( San Antonio, TX) at 5:00pm. All filghts are operation by United. I would like to know within 2hrs connecting flight, is that doable for connecting flight? Do I need recheck in my bag in ORD, if yes how to do that? And How to take ATS train to make connecting flight. Thank a lot

You will arrive in Terminal 5 where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bag, go through US Customs, and then re-check your bag at the re-check desk. You will then go up 2 levels, following the signs to Terminal 1 or 2 (your flight may leave from either Terminal 1 or 2) to the ATS train. You will take it to Terminal 1 or 2 and then go through security and to your gate. If your SAT flight has a gate number beginning with B or C you will leave from T1 and if it begins with E or F you will leave from T2. You should have enough time if your flight from NRT is on-time.

Thank a lot for your advice. One more question please, does re-check in bag desk the same level and near US customs? Thank again

    Yes, it is.

  • First time Flyer: YYZ-LAX-BNE
    Jan 8, 2014

Hi! I am flying for the first time in one month and have a few questions about what will happen during my layover that may seem silly. I am flying from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to LAX with American Airlines then from LAX to Brisbane (BNE) with Quantas. I arrive at Terminal 4 at 9:15 on a Sunday and depart from Terminal 4 at 11:50 the same evening. My first question: What do I do when I get off the plane at LAX? Do I go through immigration, collect my checked bags, clear customs, re enter the terminal, check in and go through security all over again? If this is so then I am worried I did not leave enough time between the flights? Thank you in advance for any advice, I am getting a quite nervous.

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto and should be able to get both of your boarding passes when you check in with American there. All you will have to do in LAX is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

  • Connecting flight international to domestic HELP!
    Jan 8, 2014
    1
I'll be flying in on an international flight and ill need to make another domestic flight on UA to LAX. I am supposed to meet someone at baggage claim (the one non passengers can go to) and give them a dog. How am I supposed to go about doing this? Once I get off the flight i'll need to go through passport check, then what? Help please.

After passport check you'll claim your bags, then go through US customs. Since you're bringing a dog make sure you have all the import requirements for the dog complete. Then you'll exit customs and you can meet the person there. After that you can re-check any non-dog bags you have and go up to go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Can I find my way?

Can you explain concourse, terminal, gate......? This information and forum is a great help....thanks!

A terminal is where you check in for flights or claim baggage. It is also usually where immigration procedures are done. A Concourse is basically a hallway or an area where gates are. Concourses are usually given different letters to tell the difference between them. A Gate is a doorway, usually with an enclosed ramp called a jetway, that leads to an airplane. For example in Atlanta, gate D16 would be in concourse D and be the 16th gate. All concourses in Atlanta are connected by the plane train. At the end of the concourses are two terminals, the domestic terminal (S) and the International Terminal. If you are on a domestic flight you check in and claim your baggage at the domestic terminal and if on an international you do that in international. Each have their own security checkpoints so when you're going between concourses in a connection you don't have to go through security.

I'm taking a round trip from Minneapolis to Sau Paulo that stops through DFW on American Airlines. On the return trip after going through customs in Dallas, can I take my checked bag with me during the layover, and check it back in later?

  • INEXPERIENCED TRAVELER . . . NEEDS HELP?

Inexperienced Traveler Needs Help . . . .What to do????? Just found out my 11:25am flight was cancelled to Denver; however my luggage was already sent to St Louis. Pending ice storm for my car ride home & want to get out of airport ASAP. How long do I wait for luggage? What happens if I leave airport w/o luggage? Will luggage be considered unclaimed?

I'm guessing everything is a mess at the airport and will be for a few days. Try your best and be assertive trying to get your bags back. Don't leave without them unless you absolutely have to.
