Do we have to pass immigration at LAX. We fly in from san diego and going back to the philippines. Do they need to stamp our passport of US exit?

You do not go through US Immigration upon exit from the US. The airline will transmit your passport information to immigration when you board your flight to the Philippines to inform them that you left.

  • International traveler from Vancouver transit at Seattle to Taiwan

I am a non-US citizen planning to travel from Vancouver transit at Seattle to Taiwan. Two tickets are booked separately and with two different air lines, Delta and EVA. Questions: 1. For the baggage, will it be all the way through from Vancouver to Taiwan without picking up from Seattle and check back in. 2. For the immigration/Custom check, Do I need to pass immigration/Custom check at Seattle, or will I be pre-immigration/custom check at Vancouver, so I don't have to do it again at Seattle.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. However, as you are booking two separate tickets, you will have to go to the baggage claim in the main terminal to claim your bags, then bring it to the EVA check-in counter to check to your final destinaton. As such I recommend at least 2 hours for this transfer.

I will be arriving ATL from YYZ at 8.47am With Delta to catch the next Delta flight at 10.35am to SXM. Will I arrive and depart from same terminal? Do I need to clear security and is the layover enough to avail this flight?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Both gates should be in the E or F concourses, which are connected. You do not have to go through security. You have plenty of time.

Tomorrow on March 6th. I am taking a flight from Indianapolis to Memphis with a connecting flight in Dallas. Only One hour layover. I need help getting to the tram and next gate. I don't think I can walk fast from gate C 20 to Gate B 41 and also do I have to re-check my luggage in Dalles too ?

You do not have to do anything with your baggage in dallas. The skylink train can get you from C20 to B41 in about 10 minutes.

I am flying into LAX on a Sunday night on LAN, arriving at 725 pm. Is that enough time to catch a 920 pm Southwest flight? Otherwise, I need to stay at a nearby hotel for the night.

No, that isn't enough time. Since you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through customs, then take your bags to Terminal 1 to re-check. I doubt you will get there in time before the bag check cutoff. Just spend the night.

  • American Terminal Overnight

My nephew is arriving on a Friday night at 6PM and flying back out at 6AM on Saturday morning. If he goes out to eat and hang out will they let him back into the terminal to sleep overnight?

He will be able to sleep in the check-in area or baggage claim but the security lanes will close at about midnight and not reopen until about 4. And since his second flight isn't until Saturday, he may not be allowed back through security until 4.

  • CONNECTING FLIGHT

I will arrive TBIT on philippine airlines at 8:00 am and have a connecting flight on southwest airlines which departs at 12:05 pm will this be enough time and what is fastest way to get to T1?

That should probably be enough time, barely. The fastest way is probably to walk. Just follow the path for passengers ending their journey in LAX, exit the terminal, and walk to the left (against the flow of traffic).

I am arrivig into Atlanta on an international flight and leaving on a domestic flight less than 2 hours later. I have checked luggage and will need to collect in and recheck it apparently i.e. go through bag check and securty all over again (arg!). Will I have time, assuming my first flight arrives on time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Assuming you purchased your tickets together you can re-check your bags immediately after customs at the transfer desk.

  • Enough time?

I will be flying into JFK from Tampa on Delta. Flight arrives at 9:49am. Not sure which terminal. I have to then get to my South African Airways flight that leaves for JNB at 11:15am. I believe this flight leaves from terminal 4. These tickets were purchased separetely since we couldnt find an affordable flight from FL to JNB. Is this enough time? Do we have to re-go through security in JFK? Not planning on checking any bags.

That's barely enough time if you aren't checking bags. You will have to race to the South African Airways check-in counter, get your boarding passes, and go through security. If you are able to check in online (you probably will not). Then you can go directly to your departure gate in Terminal 4.

I'm a first time US immigrant. My port of entry is DTW. Will be flying on May 17, via DL 276 at 15:19 hrs. Connecting flight going to DCA is at 17:25 via DL 2144. Is 1 hr. and 6 mins. sufficient for immigrant and customs clearances? Would appreciate your help and advise.

NO! You need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little more.

  • CLT to Chicago- to DUB

Hi I was wondering if 1 hr 30 minutes was enough layover time? I will be flying United from CLT to Chicago, then Aer Lingus to Dublin, all booked through United.com. Will I have to go through security again? Which terminals will be using? Thanks for your help.

You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Terminal 5. You will have to exit your arrival terminal and take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. You should have enough time.

  • 1 hour and 50 min layover enough time ?

Im Canadian flying from st lucia to toronto with a one hour and 50 min layover. once i land in miami will i need to go through customs and will i need to re check my bag or will it be brought to the next plane ? im flying with american airlines the entire time. Will I have enough time im kind of stressing out about this. if someone could enlighten me on this or answer the questions i would be grateful !

Upon arrival in Miami you will go through US Immigration and Customs. however, since you are on an International to International itinerary you should not have to claim your bags, but confirm that with the AA agents in St. Lucia and Miami. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. Miami is a very busy international airport. 1 hr 50 minutes is barely enough if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks for the info, if I miss the connecting flight what will happen?

  • Time between flight connection at Detroit

Hi, I'm thinking of booking the Delta/Virgin flight from Omaha to LHR.The Delta flight from OMA gets into DTW at 16.55. And then the Virgin flight from DTW to LHR leaves at 17.50. Is that enough time to connect and go through customs?

You do not go through US Customs when departing the US. you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in DTW. All Delta/Virgin gates are in the McNamara Terminal and connected inside security. That is enough time.

  • AirTran/switching terminals

I will be arriving to terminal 1 (from JAL) and headed to Fort Lauderdale around 9:50 pm out of terminal 5. (3 hr 30 m layover) We will be traveling with an infant. When switching terminals, are we ever outside or is it all in doors? (I want a heads up if I'll need to take my baby outside) Will we have enough time to get through customs and check our bags in? Also, some sites say free some say $5 charge. Will I need to pay per person $5 to go from terminal 1 to terminal 5? Thanks!

The AirTrain is free between terminals. There is covered, but not climate controlled connection between T1 and the AirTrain. You should have enough time if your flight from Japan is on-time.

I arrive at terminal B from London and have connecting flight to Fort Myers from terminal C 4 hours later. I plan to meet my step daughter for lunch when I arrive. is it best to meet her at terminal C where I assume I have to check in for connecting flight? Will I have enough time? Thank you for your help

You should have enough time. You would probably want to meet her at the exit of customs in Terminal B.

    thank you. that is reassuring.
