We are transferring from a London-US international flight to a US domestic flight. Is 2.5hours adequate for US immigration, baggage collection and rechecking in, which I assume we will have to do? Any advice on making this as efficient as possible?

Yes, 2.5 hours should be plenty of time. CLT is a very simple airport, just follow the signs.

My concern isn't the "complication" of the airport, it's stuff like US immigration. Sometimes there are terrible delays, and the bags take a while....

My group is meeting at Terminal C before going to check-in...so where do I go? Can I get to the terminal without my ticket?

You can meet in the check-in area of Terminal C. You don't need any documentation to enter the check-in area.

I am travelling from Sydney Australia going to Minneapolis with layover in LAX. Where do I get process for customs LAX or Minneapolis? Do I need to re-checked in for my connecting flight to Minneapolis?

If you bought your flights for both legs of the journey on one ticket, you will only need to re-check in your bags after customs clearance where indicated. If not you would have to take your bags along to the connecting terminal & check it in there. For transfer & terminal info, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/lax, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in LAX. I Can help you further with the process if you let us know what airlines you are flying?

Thank you for the reply guys. I am flying Delta Airlines Sydney to Minneapolis. So does this mean I am going to go through customs clearance in LAX and not Minneapolis? Thanks...Cheers!

Yes, you will go through US Customs and Immigration in LAX, not Minneapolis.

I will be travelling with my family (5 of us) from KUL-DOH-JFK-MCO with one ticket on Qatar Airways. I arrive in JFK at 1405 and leave to Orlando at 1520 via Terminal 8 on Qatar Airway/American Airlines. MY question is do i need to go thru custom and immigrations at JFK or MCO. Do I have to recheck my luggage? I have to do so will 1hr15min be enough time? Thanks for the reply!

You arrive & depart from Terminall 8 (T8). After passport control, picking up bags at the Arrivals level, going through customs clearance & re-checking bags where indicated, proceed to go through security check, pass restaurants/ shops to Concourse B (gates 1-16, or proceed near gate 14 to Concourse C gates 31-47. Your transfer time should suffice.

Actually 1 hr 15 mins is below the minimum connection time for such a transfer at JFK. You have a chance of making it though. I would still try it.

    Thanks for the prompt reply

Hello. Once we land and leave from T4. Can we leave T4 without having to go through Customs? If so, where are we able to go in the airport? Thank you for your help.

Go through U.S. customs clearance at YYZ, whereupon you will be treated at LAX as 'domestic arrival'. You arrive & depart from Terminal 4, which has gates 42-49.

My parents are arriving at terminal D and have an overnight layover, staying at the airport Marriott. Would it be easier for them to take a taxi to the hotel as compared to the train as walking distances is difficult?

'Airport Marriott Hotel' is located in the center of the Airport terminal complex (tel. 281-443-2310 or 800-228-9290), linking the airside of the terminals to the hotel's dining & conference rooms. The hotel also provides free underground train service.

I will be arriving at Terminal A on Air Canada with 2 small children and a bunch of luggage (car seats etc). I will have cleared US Immigration in Canada. I was told that I have to pick up all my baggage first and then proceed through a set of doors to meet my car service. Is this true? Can they get into the baggage area and assist me?

Terminal A is a domestic terminal - on arrival at the gates, therefore after deplaning, proceed to the Arrivals /ground level where you should be met by your taxi driver holding up a sign with your name (if you pre-ordered a taxi). Otherwise, look for Skycaps & if you can't see one proceed to the nearby information counter asking for assistance.

My flight arrives at terminal A, my friend arrives at Terminal C... Will I need to pick up my baggage first and can I meet him inside the terminal c?

Yes, you should pick up your baggage first. Yes, you can meet him in the baggage Claim or Terminal C. The AirTrain connects the terminals outside security.

    Thank you!

I will be arriving on SAS and will need to go American Airlines flight to Chicago. I have 3 hrs. and 20 minutes total. what is the best way to procede?

You will arrive in Terminal B where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. If you purchased your tickets together then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk and then take the AirTrain to Terminal A where you will go through security and to your departure gate. If you purchased tickets separately, bring your bags with you to Terminal A where you will have to check them at the American Airlines counter and pay a checked bag fee. You should have enough time to make your transfer.

Thank you for the helpful comment

  • Seattle to Denver via Inchon

I am flying into Seattle from Inchon South Korea. I booked a separate flight on United the same day. I arrive at 1:10pm and then my domestic flight is at 5:00pm. Is that enough time to get through immigration, recheck in, security etc? thanks

You will arrive at the South Satellite of SEA, where you will go through immigration clearance, pick up checked luggage, continue to customs (taking 30-60 minutes), then re-check-in your bags and go through TSA security screening prior to proceeding to your connecting flight. ( If you have duty-free liquid items, put them in our checked luggage to prevent confiscation at the security checkpoint.) United uses both the North Satellite (gates N1-6) & Concourse A (gates A1-14.) A shuttle train runs between N & S gates, and between the South Satellite and the main terminal. As you bought 2 separate tickets, you may need 2 boarding passes. You have plenty of time.

  • what are those terminal cars at ATL?

I've always wondered how you can hitch a ride on those terminal cars that I see transferring passengers from terminal to terminal. My mom will be traveling with my 93 year old grandmother in October and I am worried about the transfer and walking distances for her at ATL. Does anyone know what those cars are for and how to get one?

You have to request wheelchair service from the airline.

Hi there. Im traveling from south africa to orange county with a stop over in paris and atlanta. Im just unsure in regards to the process after i go through customs and immigration. Do i then go to domestic and recheck at the checkin counters? Also does atl have wifi( free? How long?). Need to let the girlfriend know that ive landed etc. thank you

You will arrive in Atlanta in Concourse E/F. There you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then immediately re-check your bags with Delta. Then you will go through a separate security checkpoint just for people connecting to a different flight after arriving on an international flight. Then you can just take the Plane Train to your departure concourse. There's no need to go to the domestic terminal.
