  • Enough Time to Transfer?
    Feb 28, 2014
    1
I'm flying into Chicago from San Francisco and need to transfer to a flight to London Ontario with 44 minutes in between arriving and departing. Is that enough time?

If your first flight is on-time yes it will be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 1 and depart from Terminal 2 (assuming both flights are on United/United Express). T1 and T2 are connected by walkways inside security.

my one year old is travelling with me to the states. I did not have to purchase a ticket for her. is she allowed a carry on? hers would consist of a small diaper/backpack type of bag.

Yes you can bring diaper bag along.

  • Different terminal arrivals - where to meet
    Feb 25, 2014

I will be arriving on terminal 1 at 5:25am and co-worker from terminal 2 at 6:15. I have the rental car in my name. Can my co-worker get to the rental car for terminal 1? Will they have to go thru immigrations/customs first? Terminal 1 is so large will it take me longer to get thru security? Any eating/sitting areas in the terminal 1 rental car area?

I presume that both of you arrive at FRA from countries other than the U.S. (All US arrivals arrive & are being processed at Satellite A (T1A). Therefore, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/fra, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text, which also includes transfer options between terminals & meeting points. T1 & T2 house rental car counters for different agencies - you may want to meet there.

Hi, I'm arriving from Canada on United Express/terminal 6 at 7:15 pm and leaving at 9:15 pm on Air NZ at terminal 2. What is the fastest way to get between terminals and do you think I have enough time? I am abit worried as this only allows me 2 hours between flights.

That should be enough time, if your first flight is on-time and you're coming in from somewhere with pre-clearance (not Kelowna). If you're coming from Kelowna you will be a bit more rushed. To get between T6/7 and T2 it's a toss up whether taking the shuttle or walking is faster, but if you have a lot of bags taking the shuttle that runs on the lower level will be easier.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am coming from Kelowna, I realize that I have to pick up my bag (only1), clear customs and drop off my bag again before leaving that same terminal. Then I have to go to Terminal 2 for Air NZ. If I catch the shuttle, do I find it just outside the terminal. Also can I walk across the center to get to Terminal 2. I appreciate your help.

It is possible to walk across the center on the lower level near the "theme building". Yes, the shuttle runs on the lower level.

Hello again, Do you know (approx) how long it might take to pick up my luggage and get through customs, This might be hard to answer as there are variables but even approx. Plus how long at would take to get the shuttle over to 2, or how long it would take to walk over?? Thank you!

Hi, sorry to ask so many question. Can you tell me if terminal 6/7 is quite busy at 7:00 at night? How long does it usually take to pick up bag and get through customs and how long would the shuttle take to get to terminal 2?

I am arriving AA JFK from SJU then connecting to CX to HGK. AA in SJU says I have to pick up and recheck my bags at JFK. What is the procedure for this? I have just over 2 hrs between flights

    1. All international arrivals at JFK need to go through passport check (not sure if that applies to P.R.), pick up bags, go through customs clearance & (if continuing journey) re-check in bags where indicated. 2. Thereafter, your bags will be automatically transferred to your connecting flight (both airlines belong to the same Airline Alliance). 3. Board the 'Airline Terminals Train' (follow signs) from arriving Terminal 8 to departing Terminal 7 (next stop); get off and go through security check and on to your gate. NOTE: Watch flights to/from JFK due to bad weather conditions if your flights at JFK are in the next few days! You would have enough time for transfer, even if you would need to check in your bags with CX).

Please disregard what sufeb said. Flights from San Juan to the mainland US are treated as domestic flights. You will not have to claim or recheck your bags. American should be able to check your bags through to Hong Kong in San Juan. All you will have to do is go from Terminal 8 to Terminal 7 via the AirTrain/Air Terminals Train, then go through security in Terminal 7.

    Thank you.

  • Meeting Point

Hi, I 'm travelling in from Glasgow, my friend is traveling in from Cleveland. We should clear about the same time as I arrive one hour earlier.Any suggestions for a well sign posted meeting point. Neither of us has used Newark before so it will be unfamiliar to us. Thank You

Your friend may arrive in either Terminal A or C if he is on United and you may arrive in Terminal B or C. So first you need to decide what Terminal to meet in (I recommend C).

Thanks Zap for your quick response Do you think it could be possible to get an exact point.ie If you come out arrivals Terminal A there is a starbucks same level of if you come out arrivals Terminal |C| there is a coffee shack same level. I don't mind going between terminals as the Airtrain looks easy to negotiate, my friend on the other hand is a first time flyer and fairly nervous about the ordeal We are both traveling United .

Flying into FCO from US and taking a 4 day trip to Ireland leaving directly from Rome (CIA) - are there lockers/baggage hold services at FCO or CIA so that we don't have to take all our luggage to Ireland and back?

I am planning to book my flight to Tokyo JP from Philadelphia with United, the layover time in IAH is only 1 hour 5 mins. United website didn't show the in&out terminals. Will I have enough time for the connection?

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will likely arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E, which are directly connected.

Terminal B arrival, terminal E departure. 3.5 hr layover. Which terminal do I exit to have a smoke?

Probably easiest to take your smoke break outside Terminal B, then go back inside when you're done, take the Inter-Terminal Train to Terminal E, and then go through security there. You could alternatively go back through security in B, then take the TerminaLink train to E.

My husband is flying United from the Middle East to Chicago with a stopover in EWR. Will he need to claim baggage and recheck them or will the airline do it for him?

If Newark is the first point where he will enter the United States, he has to claim his baggage after he clears immigration, go through US customs, then re-check his bags. If they are checked through to Chicago then he can just drop them at the re-check desk after exiting customs.

  • where are the baggage re-checking places for transit passengers

my daughter will be travelling from London to wichita via dfw terminal d , after immigration ,she will then pick up her bags and then go through customs , where are the recheck desks after customs situated to check her bags to witchita ? are they clearly marked or does it involve a search ,she then has to go to terminal a , is this an easy process ? all help appreciated

They are clearly marked. Terminal D is a modern international terminal. She will need to check the monitors after her arrival for her exact departure terminal, as domestic AA flights use several terminals. To get to her departure gate she will go through security in Terminal D then take the SkyLink train, which runs inside security, to her departure terminal and gate.

I'm flying into DFW from London and am concerned about having to stand in a queue at passport control for 2 hours. I can't stand up that long. I'm considering getting wheelchair assistance - but does that mean I just sit in a wheelchair in a queue for two hours getting stared at/commented on by tired brats?

DFW immigration queues are rarely if ever that long. When you have wheelchair assistance they usually take you to an expedited lane so that the employee pushing you doesn't have to waste all his time standing in line.

No, you need to go get a State ID from the Secretary of State.
