We arrive on a SAA flight from Johannesburg at 06h40 at JFK. We are planning to fly out on Cayman Air at 08h45. Is 2 hours enough, to clear customs, collect baggage, change terminals and recheck? Any possibility of checking baggage through to GCM at Jnb?

SAA and Cayman do not have an interline agreement and regardless, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs upon arrival at JFK. The Cayman Airways check-in will close at 7:45. You will have to be at the Cayman Airways check-in desk by that time or you will not be able to fly. Also, as you may know, the Cayman Airways flight does not operate daily. This is a very difficult and risky connection.

Hi - I arrive at terminal A via air Canada and my friends arrive via Lufthansa at terminal B shortly after me. I am suppose to meet them there - is that possible? Best advice to get there?

Yes, you could take the AirTrain from A to B and meet them on the lower level at the exit of customs.

  • Connecting Flight to IAH

My parents are flying to EWR from MAD (Spain), they then have a flight to IAH. I am worried because they don't know English, is there any kind of assisstance to go between terminals, also they are over 65 yrs. old, please help!!!

It will not hard for them to find Spanish speaking assistance in Newark. It may not be in an accent they're used to but Newark handles lots of Spanish speaking passengers.

US Citizen: Will I go through Customs in YYC prior to departure? Will have carry on and check a large bag. Have 1 hour connection time IAH to RDU. Do I go through Customs on arrival IAH? Is 1 hour sufficient time?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration and Customs preclearance in Calgary. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

I'm flying Air Canada, Lax into YYC to Yul. My flight arrives 10:40am, and my connecting flight departs at 11:40am. Do I have enough time to get through customs without overly stressing? Does it help if I notify gate agents of my connecting flight and can I enlist the help of the airport white hats to help carry me through the process? Any tips to help me get through the process as fast as i can is appreciated.

My flight to Jamaica is at 6:30 AM I'm really nervous that I might miss it so I want to take the railroad to Jamaica station then taxi to LaGuardia do you think that taxis and trains will still be available at 12 PM to 3 AM?

Taxis run all night in NYC but you might have to call one if your in Queens at that time. For the train, you would have to check the schedule of the exact train you're looking to take.

Hello, Tomorrow on March 11, we are welcoming home a family coming from Hong Kong and bringing home their adopted daughter. Their flight number is 138 and they arrive in terminal D. After they go through immigration what doors will they come through so we will know where to meet them? Thank you!

All International arriving passengers exit the same place. It should be fairly obvious as lots of people will be waiting there.

I have a friend flying from Manchester UK, to Toronto with a connection flight to Denver. In Denver she has a 1 hour layover before her connecting flight to Las Vegas. Will she have to clear customs in Denver?

She will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All she will have to do in Denver will go from her arrival gate to her departure gate, assuming she purchased all her flights on one ticket.

  • USAir from PHX to JFK then American from JFK to MXP with 1 hour betwee

I am flying on USAir from Phoenix to JFK and I only have a 1 hour connection time to make my American flight from JFK to MXP. I believe all my flights are in the same terminal and that with the merger my luggage will be checked through. Should I be worried about the tight connection time?

You should be fine if you first flight is on-time. You are correct about baggage and the Terminal.

  • Connecting flight in SFO, AC to UA
    Mar 8, 2015

We have a connecting flight in SFO on March 30th. Air Canada to United Airlines, with only 1 hour layover. Will our baggage be passed through to UA and do we have to go through security again at SFO, we will have already done this in YYZ.

Your baggage will be transferred. AC uses some gates in SFO that are directly connected to the UA gates and some gates that require going through security. Either way an hour should be enough time.

arriving from Dubai on EmiratesAirlines at 8:20 am terminal 4 , have to catch Air canada flight 8903 departure time 10:30 am, have no baggage , do i have enough time to make the connection?? any advise???

You will have to hope your Emirates flight is on-time and that immigration isn't backed up, then run to the AirTrain and take it to Terminal 7. It is possible, but there's very little room for error.

  • JFK to BOS

I've booked a UK to JFK flight in September & intended on driving to Boston & taking in a few places on route. However, I think it may be better to fly direct & hire a car up there. I'd appreciate advise with regards booking the JFK/BOS flight ie how much time to leave to navigate the baggage reclaim, immigration, terminals etc & where do I stand with delays as they are booked seperately? Would I be better booking the flight on arriving at JFK? Thanks in advance!

I would not wait until booking the flight until you arrive in JFK unless you have lots of money to spend as tickets on day of departure are quite expensive. JetBlue offers lots of flights from JFK to Boston and is fairly flexibile regarding day of departure flight changes. You can also check in for your JFK-BOS flight online before leaving the UK. I recommend leaving 3 hours between your scheduled arrival and departure.

I am Arriving in PHL from CMH on a US Airways flight with a 55 minute layover. I will then be switching airlines to American Airlines for my flight to Punta Cana, Will this be enough time? Also, will I have to go through security again?

Both flights will be on US airways. You do not have to go through security. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Do we have to pass immigration at LAX. We fly in from san diego and going back to the philippines. Do they need to stamp our passport of US exit?

You do not go through US Immigration upon exit from the US. The airline will transmit your passport information to immigration when you board your flight to the Philippines to inform them that you left.
