Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport SAW is one of Turkey's two major Airports serving the greater Istanbul area, and has received from 'Routes Europe' the 'Fastest Growing Airport' award in the airport over 10 million passenger category. The name of Sabiha Gokcen was added to the Airport name in honor of the first female combat pilot in the world.
The Airport is now owned 100 percent by 'Malaysia Airport Holdings'.
SAW Airport is located between the towns of Pendik and Kurkoy - 35 km southeast of Istanbul, in the Asian part of Turkey - and is accessible by a 1.5 km access road from either Ankara Yolu (E5) or from TEM (E80) motorways. It is also 40 km from Kadikoy and 50 km from Taksim.
With about 27 million passengers per annum, Sabiha Gokcen Airport is served by any domestic, international, regular & low-fare Airlines offering with a multitude of direct flights to countless destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Seasonal charter flights bring countless tourists every year.
NOTE: Sabiha Gokcen Airport requests that passengers arrive for domestic flights 90 minutes, and for international flights 2 hours prior to scheduled flight departure.

Sabiha Gokcen Airport has three passenger terminals - the Domestic, International & VIP terminals.
Present & future Airport Developments: A new International Terminal was to open by late 2016 - along a 4-level carpark, a 4-level hotel, and a second runway. No further news are currently available regarding the same.
