Arriving from Doha to JFK terminal 8 ....reconnecting to Tampa from JFK terminal 2....do I collect my luggage and go they customs and then go to terminal 2 or can I have luggage sent to terminal 2 and go thru customs in Tampa ...my final destination ,,,,,how do I get from terminal 8 to terminal 2

Yes, when you arrive in Terminal 8, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then if you have a separate ticket on Delta to Tampa you will have to take the AirTrain to Terminal 2, re-check your bags with Delta, and go through security.

I will arrive at 11:30 am terminal 1 international flight and i have delta fligh to orland 3.45 pm Can i recived my baggage directlly in orlando or i need recived and cler cutom then what?

In T1 you will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through customs. if your bags are tagged through to Orlando, then you re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to your departure terminal (Delta flights to Orlando currently appear to depart from Terminal 2), go through security and to your departure gate.

I am arriving on Delta Flight form Miami at 18:34 and am travelling on to Dublin. Would I have time to take the 21:00 operated by Aer Lingus or should I take the 22:00 operated by Aer France?

If you are booking two separate reservations and have checked bags I would definitely book the later flight.

I lost a large suitcase (29in silver Delsey hardcase) in November when I checked it in at the Norwegian desk. The desk agent never put a tag on it, so they have no record of the bag other than when I checked it in. I filed a report at my destination (London Gatwick) and Norwegian hasn't been able to tell me anything. There's literally no trace of it. AND my name was on the tag, and written on the inside with my phone number. Even the Norwegian agent said it was weird. Where is lost baggage held at JFK? I assume (hope) it went to a lost and found at JFK, but walking around for hours, I was unable to find anything of the sort (and I travel a lot, this isn't the first time I've been there) Because it didn't have an airline's tag on it, I assume it was kept at JFK instead of being sent to an airline's headquarters (or wherever they hold their lost baggage) As anyone who has flown with Norwegian knows, they don't have a permanent desk, they share with a Chinese airline, as well as others. Does anyone know what those other airlines are? I'm desperate at this point, and would try calling them to ask if it was accidentally sent to their headquarters instead of Norwegian's. (Norwegian told me all baggage gets sent to their headquarters in Norway after a certain period of time) I filed a claim with Norwegian, but I just want my bag back, it's much more valuable than whatever they would give me as compensation. thank you for your help

I'm flying from Dallas/Ft Worth airport to Milan, Italy and connecting through JFK. Both flights are with the same airline and the layover is 6 hours. According to the itinerary, I fly into terminal 1 and fly out of terminal 8 in JFK. For this trip, will I retrieve my checked baggage, to include my 2 pets, to go through customs and immigration and then recheck before my flight? Will 6 hours be sufficient time?

Your itnerary is very incorrect. On your way to Milan you do not go through US Immigration or Customs and if both flights are on American then they will both be in Terminal 8. Please double check your itinerary.

Hi I will arrive at JFK at 11:30 A.M from Riyadh through Saudi Airlines, my next connecting flight is to Minneapolis through Delta. Would i need to collect my baggage and re check again after going through customs?? I have a single ticket and Saudi Airlines and Delta are skyteam partners. Thanks

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, re-check your bags at the recheck desk then go through security and to your departure gate

I'm flying from LAX to JFK by Delta Airline, arrive at T4. I have 2 hours at JFK to connect to Rome by Alitalia. Do I need to pick up my luggage at JFK? Do I also have enough time?

If both tickets are on the same reservation you don't have to do anything with your luggage in JFK. Just take the AirTrain from T4 to T1, get your Alitalia boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You should have enough time.

Thank you Zap! Is it easy to find out AirTrain ? Sorry it is my first time to fly to JFK.

    Yes, it's fairly well marked.

Hello, I am flying from Paris to Montréal through JFK, the whole trip is operated by American Airlines, I am French. If I understood well, I will have to collect my luggages to go through customs before to re-check them for my next flight? Thanks

Yes, in JFK you will arrive in Terminal 8, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk and then go through security and to your departure gate. You will have to complete ESTA online before your trip.

Hello! I am flying to NY, and then from NY to Miami via Delta airlines. In the ticket I bought there is no baggage included and I don't want to pay for it, it is expensive. I just don't need to take my baggage with me to Miami, it would be perfect to let it in NY JFK airport for 6 days, and then pick it up when we come back. Who knows how much it will cost to store 2 bags (15kg approx. each) for 6 days? Or maybe there is an option to deliver my baggage to certain address from aiport? Your help is much appreciated! Regards, Emil

It will probably be cheaper to just check your bags to Miami than to store it for 6 days or ship it anywhere.

Hi, Flying with AA from Madrid to punta cana via JFK and MIA with a transit time of 11 hours in NY and 2 hours in MIA, do we need to collect our luggages from T7 re-check them again in T8? Also is there any chance leaving our laggages in T8 or checking them in advance and go for a small tour in NY ( by taxi) ? Thanks in advance for your help

Btw, first flight is operated by Iberia, the second to MIA and the third to PUJ is operated by AA. Thanks ZAP

AA does not use T7. Is your flight from Madrid operated by Iberia? If so then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk in T7 after you clear customs as long as they are tagged through to your final destination.

Thanks ZAP, so no need to go T8 to re-check the luggages, T7 would be fine once customs cleared. And please when do you think we need to be at T8 knowing that our flight is at 5:35? Thanks again ZAP, appreciate your help

You'd want to be at T8 by about 4:15 PM, with traffic that means leaving Manhattan by 2:45 PM.

Our flight is at 5:35 AM and we arrive the day before at 18:30PM. Hope it wont be hard to get a taxi from Manhattan at 2:00AM ? Thanks again

Oh, then you won't be able to re-check your bags in T7 since the flights are on two separate days. You will have to take them with you and re-check them in the morning. Honestly you should just spend the night in a hotel near the airport. You can get taxis from Manhattan at 2 AM, however, you may have to call one. Also considering its so early, you really don't have to leave Manhattan until like 3 AM if you do end up going there (although it will probably be harder to find a taxi at 3 than 2).

Thanks Zap, would it be possible to drop the luggages at AA terminal 8 luggage storage and collect them again at 3AM? Thanks

Hi. Could we drop our luggages at T8 AA storage area at 8PM and collect them next morning at 4AM as we have a flight with AA? Thx

Will 2 hours be enough time to pick up bags from a domestic flight (Jet Blue) and check in for an international flight (Delta) at JFK on a Friday afternoon?

Barely. It depends on your JetBlue flight arriving on-time.

Hello I did a booking from Fayetteville, NC to Manila Philippines with the following connecting flights... From Fayetteville NC -> Charlotte NC-> JFK NY -> Seoul, SK -> Manila. Im supposed to check in from Fayetteville, but Im thinking of checking-in in CHarlotte, NC instead since Ill be closer to that airport by then... Will it be alright?

No, if you do not board your Fayetteville->Charlotte flight your entire trip will be cancelled. You need to board your Fayetteville-Charlotte flight.

Check-in (if not done online) needs to be done at the original airport of departure (Fayetteville). If purchasing flights on one ticket, your bags will automatically be transferred - if not, find out if your airline(s) transfer bags - if not you would need to pick up your bags & re-check them in with your connecting airline. You may also want to consider using freight transport for our bags to ensure safe arrival of them. Seems like you could do better by taking American/US Airways or United Airlines - or one of their many alliance members to SFO or LAX, & from there going directly to Manila. For airline affiliation open: skyteam.com/en/About-Us/Our-Members/ - or - oneworld.com

Actually from fayetteville nc to jfk illbe flying via US airways then will transfer to Asiana airline at jfk anf from there will fly to manila via asiana airlines.do u think i still need to pick up my baggage at jfk and check it in again?

ignore sudec's inane response. If you check your bags in Fayetteville, assuming all tickets were bought together, you won't have to claim them again until you get to Manila. If you bought separate tickets FAY-JFK and JFK-MNL, then yes, you will have to claim them at JFK and take them to the Asiana ticket counter to re-check.

Hello, I am flying into JFK terminal 4 from South Africa (SAA) and catching a connecting flight to Panama (COPA) also from terminal 4, will I have to clear customs and recheck my baggage, Thanks Al

Yes, you will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage, get your COPA boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through Security and to your departure gate. You may need a US Transit visa or to complete ESTA, depending on your country of citizenship.

I am arriving on 02/03/2015 at JFK via flight AF 22 at 11:15 and departing to MSY via flight AF9272 at 14:00. Do i collect my bags at JFK to the next flight or I collect them at MSY?

You will arrive in terminal 1, go through immigration, claim your bags, go through us customs , re-check your bags, then take the AirTrain from T1 to T2, go through security and to your departure gate. Your flight to New Orleans is operated by Delta.

    Thank You

  • Asiana Seoul to JFK

Can someone tell me the protocol I must follow as far as Customs is concerned. I will arrive at Terminal 4 on an Asiana flight from Seoul Korea. I have a connecting flight on Jet Blue departing Terminal 5. My question is will I need to pick up my baggage at the baggage claim area prior to clearing customs before leaving Terminal 4 and continue on my journey on Jet Blue at Terminal 5. My understanding is when I arrive in the US, Asiana will not be able to transfer my luggage directly to my Jet Blue flight because at some point my baggage must pass through US Custom. Any suggestions on insights to make this process as tolerable as possible is greatly appricicated.

If you purchased tickets together you can recheck bags at the transfer desk in T4, otherwise you will have to bring them on the AirTrain to T5 to check with JetBlue

I purchased tickets from Expedia. So I guess you are saying I pick up my bags at the claim area, then go through Customs and then I can recheck my bags at the transfer desk in T4 then just proceed to T5 with my carrier on stuff. Thanks for the advice
