From JFK T1 to 39th Ave Long IslandNov 2, 201210I will be arriving at 2 plus on Sunday. Need guidance on the most economical and convenient mode of getting to Hotel Vetiver at 39th Avenue Long Island city. There are 2 of us and we have 3 pieces of luggage.STposted on Fri, Nov 2Don't know whether you are aware of Hurricane Sandy's devastation work on New York City & surrounding - much of subway & public transport system service as of this morning is still spotty; I suggest you call your hotel (tel. (718) 440-9933 or e-mail daniel@hotelvetiver.com - they are in a better way to advise you. (Sunday is also the Marathon day - yes inspite of all the problems, they did not cancel it - adding even more traffic problems. Hope you get home safely!frnov12posted on Fri, Nov 2

from JFK to Port AuthorityApr 28, 201211Arriving 4:40PM (scheduled time, it would more likely be around 5:00PM) Terminal 4 from Europe.I have a tourist visa. I have to take the bus to Port Authority and the last bus for Philadelphia is leaving at 9:15PM. Would I have enough time? Thank You!cskposted on Fri, Apr 271 person likes this post [ Like ]1. As an international arrival at JFK, you need to go through passport control, pick up your bags, and go through customs clearance - count on 35-40 minutes for this procedure. Thereafter you have the following choices to get to either Grand Central Station (42d Street & Lexington Ave. or to Penn Station (34th Street & 8th Ave.) - depending where your scheduled train (Amtrak) will depart from: (a) 1. Car & Van Service: Airlink N.Y. 877-599-8200; ASl County Express 800-914-4223; Super Shuttle Long Island 800-742-9824; All County Express 800-914-4223; Connecticut Limo 800-472-5466; (b) The NYC Airporter Bus, tel. 718-777-5111 runs every 30 minutes and costs around $16. For online tickets visit NYCAirporter.com. The bus stops across from the Grand Central Station and you can easily walk over with your bags. I think the bus to Penn Station is a separate one. Count on 1.5 hrs from Terminal to GC Station. Your time seems to be quite sufficient.saapr12posted on Sat, Apr 28

Booking a taxi from airportOct 11, 201123I am meeting my two sisters from Manchester UK and I am coming from California...new experience for all of us. How do we get a flat rate taxi when their fight arrives (I have to wait 6 hours for them). Can I call from the airport and is there one that anyone would recommendruspadposted on Mon, Aug 222 people like this post [ Like ]I presume that you all will head to Manhattan. This is what I suggest: 1. Find out which flight they arrive (flight number, terminal, gate. 2. If you have checked luggage, you need to go down to the baggage area, find the carousel for your airline (the overhead screen will list flight numbers & Airlines) and claim your bag). Take the bag on the elevated Airtrain to the terminal your sisters arrive at. Find out where you can store your bag. 2. Taxis: Taxis are regulated and are waiting outside in a line. An attendant will take your destination and you board the first taxi in line. When it's getting closer to your sister's arrivals (check screens), get your bag and proceed to the Arrivals level where you can meet them at thei carousel.MUCposted on Tue, Aug 231 person likes this post [ Like ]I will be traveling domestically into JFK on Delta and then an international flight on Delta less than 2 hours later. I cannot seem to get an answer to the following question: do you have to pass through security again and if not, is there a connecting walkway, people mover, etc;; to get you from one Delta terminal to another without going back outside. Once you do that, I would imagine you have to allow time to go through security again. Delta claims an hour and fifty minutes is sufficient time to make connecting flights but I am not so sure as there is little time for last minute problems.MitchGposted on Tue, Oct 11
