Time to clear customs between flightsMay 7, 201310Flying South African Airways from Johannesburg to JFK arriving 6.40am, 1h45 layover connecting to Charlotte on US airlines. It's booked as a package is it enough time to get through passport control etc. (is there a fast track for connecting flights?)Domposted on Tue, May 7There is no fast-track for connecting flights. You'll also have to re-check your bags, go outside and take the airtrain from terminal 4 to terminal 7, then go back through security. You have a chance since it's so early in the morning, but you'll really have to hurry.ZAPposted on Tue, May 7

terminal 1 to terminal 8Apr 25, 201310We are arriving in terminal 1 on american airlines (domestic flight). We are then travelling from terminal 8 (turkish airlines). We have 2.5 hour layover time. Is this enough time?? Will we have to reclaim our bags and go through security again in JFK or will our bags be automatically transferred to Turkish in JFK??hdposted on Thu, Apr 25

LayoverApr 6, 201310I am Egyptian and I have a Canadian permanent resident card and I have a layover in JFK airport .. Can I leave the airport for couple of hours without US visa?AHposted on Fri, Apr 5A couple of hours is by far not enough to get to New York City & back. On arrival at JFK you will need to go through passport control, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags where indicated. This process can take anywhere from 35 to 60 mins. To get from your arrival terminal to your departure terminal via the Airline Terminals Train, going through security check and on to your departing gate can take another 30-50 mins. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/jfk, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.saapr13posted on Sat, Apr 6

JFK 15 hours layoverApr 10, 201210In a few weeks my wife and I arrive at JFK airport from Kiev, Ukraine, our final destination is Pensacola, FL, but there is a 15 hours layover between flights. We arrive at 5 pm, T4 and depart at 8 am next day, terminal unknown, flying with Delta. What's our option, what should we do first, considering that this is our first ever flight trip? We have only confirmation numbers for the next flight, so, should we get the real tickets first? Will we be able to browse through terminals, or exit the airport? Where should we sleep to save some money? Thanks!!!Oliverposted on Tue, Apr 102. Visit www.ifly.com/jfk - it will tell you by airlines which terminal you arrive at and depart from, how to get around and travel tips. 2. For staying overnight at JFK read up at http://www.sleepinginairports.net/usa/newyorkjfk.htm . NOTE: As an international arrival at JFK you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag (the tag should indicate layover and final destination Airport Codes).tuapr12posted on Tue, Apr 10

Min timeNov 11, 201114I am arriving in JFK at 14:45 PMfrom Turkey. Would I be able to catch 5:15 PM flight to Cleveland (AA). ThanksNatiaposted on Fri, Nov 114 people like this post [ Like ]Sorry - as an International Arrival, you need to go through passport control, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance, and then re-check-in your bag for AA flight - that will take on average 30 mins. Most likely you will arrive in Terminal 4 (T4) which has inside the AirTrain running between T1 and T8. Your connecting terminal is at T8 - that's about 10-12 mins, not to mention the time of getting to your gates.HH39posted on Fri, Nov 11
