Hello. I am flying from Lisbon to JFK and then to Chicago by Delta - however two different reservation. I am arriving to JFK at 2:55pm and have flight to Chicago at 4:20pm. I have carry on only. Do I have enough time to go thru the custom and make the flight to Chicago? will Global Entry help to expedite the custom and TSA check?
Yes, Global Entry will make Immigration and Security faster. Check in online for your flight to Chicago before leaving Lisbon. Even with no checked baggage and Global Entry this is still a very difficult connection.
Thank you. How long would it take from the Custom to Delta terminals? Do I need to walk or there is an airport transportation? Thanks again.
If the flight from Lisbon is also on Delta it's all in Terminal 4.
Thanks. The flight to Chicago probably will be from Domestic Delta terminal 2. How long would it take from terminal 4 to terminal 2? Do I need to walk or there is a airport transport? What would you recommend? Thank you so much for your help.
Actually most Delta Connection flights (of which the Chicago flight is one) depart from Terminal 4. If you DO need to go to Terminal 2, then you can go through security in T4 and take a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal 2.
Hiya, I am flying to NYC then have a 8 hour connection for the next flight, can i lave the airport to go Manhattan and come back - am i allowed to do this with a ESTA of course?
Yes, however, note that it takes about 90 minutes to get from JFK to Manhattan and that you should be back at JFK 2 hours before your flight, so add in customs and immigration time after you arrive and you'll get MAYBE 2 hours in manhattan.
I am departing on Delta for an international flight from Terminal 4 but have a 5 hr layover. My service animal will need the relief area and I'd like to use the one in Terminal 5. Will I have to go through security again to access terminal 5 and then again to get back into 4? Thanks. Any tips on what to do with a puppy for 5 hours in JFK? I can access the USO lounge but also considered the Delta lounge.
Hello. I will be flying on DL3816 from Quebec City, arriving at 9:50 AM and then I have a flight connection to Paris ORY (AF37) leaving at 6:15PM from T1 (around 8 hour layover). These two flights are on the same flight ticket. I was wondering if it was possible to re-check my bag after Clearing the customs directly when I arrive at JFK or if I have to wait a few hours (as Air France does not operate so early). Thank you in advance
If the bags are tagged to ORY you should be able to drop them at the re-check desk after you clear customs.
Hi, I am flying from Manchester UK to JFK via Delta Airlines, my layover time to Los Angeles (via Delta) is 1.44, is there enough time to clear customs and catch my flight to LA? Thank you
That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thank you so much you have put my mind at rest!, could you also tell me if I need to collect my luggage or would Delta transfer it to the next flight
Yes, in JFK you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. Everything will be in Terminal 4.
I flew in to JFK on Monday morning 8 hours late and due to no baggage handlers we were told to go to hotels and bags will be delivered. We are still waiting for bags and help lines at delta are not being answered. Is anyone else in same situation
Im flying in from Israel and arriving at 5:50. is it possible go through the immigration, claim the baggage and check in the baggage and get on the flight to Chicago at 8:20 AM?
What airlines are you flying? Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations?
Two seperate. I think i am flying in with the El Al airline from Israel and AA to Chicago.
That's barely enough time. You will have to go through US immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take your bags with you on the AirTrain from Terminal 4 to Terminal 8, re-check them with American and go through security.
