Hello.
I will be flying on DL3816 from Quebec City, arriving at 9:50 AM and then I have a flight connection to Paris ORY (AF37) leaving at 6:15PM from T1 (around 8 hour layover). These two flights are on the same flight ticket. I was wondering if it was possible to re-check my bag after Clearing the customs directly when I arrive at JFK or if I have to wait a few hours (as Air France does not operate so early).
Thank you in advance
If the bags are tagged to ORY you should be able to drop them at the re-check desk after you clear customs.
Thank you for your reply
Hi, I am flying from Manchester UK to JFK via Delta Airlines, my layover time to Los Angeles (via Delta) is 1.44, is there enough time to clear customs and catch my flight to LA? Thank you
That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thank you so much you have put my mind at rest!, could you also tell me if I need to collect my luggage or would Delta transfer it to the next flight
Yes, in JFK you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. Everything will be in Terminal 4.
Thank you
I flew in to JFK on Monday morning 8 hours late and due to no baggage handlers we were told to go to hotels and bags will be delivered. We are still waiting for bags and help lines at delta are not being answered. Is anyone else in same situation
Im flying in from Israel and arriving at 5:50. is it possible go through the immigration, claim the baggage and check in the baggage and get on the flight to Chicago at 8:20 AM?
What airlines are you flying? Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations?
Two seperate. I think i am flying in with the El Al airline from Israel and AA to Chicago.
That's barely enough time. You will have to go through US immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, take your bags with you on the AirTrain from Terminal 4 to Terminal 8, re-check them with American and go through security.
Hi, my husband and I will be travelling from Vancouver to JFK by CX Cathay Pacific - arriving at 7am @ Terminal 7. Then connecting flight to Santiago Chile by LAN airline at 7pm @ Terminal 8. We will have 12 hour layover time. How early can we check in our luggage @ Terminal 8? After we check-in the luggages, can we first go to air France lounge @ terminal 1 for a few hours then go back to terminal 8 boarding cuz we have free access to Air France Lounge. How far & time we need to travel from Terminal 1 to Terminal 8? Or any other suggestion what we can do @ JFK for 12 hours? Thank you very much!
You won't be able to check your bags until about 3 or 4 PM. You won't be able to access the Air France lounge in Terminal 1. Since you will have to wait about 7 hours to check your bags there's not much you can do.
Hi - we are traveling from Argentina to Minnesota and are considering flights with a 21 hour layover in JFK. Flight arrives 10am with final flight leaving next morning at 7am. Looking at staying in a hotel near the airport for ease of getting back in the AM. With international arrivals, luggage accommodations, etc., would we have enough time to see SOMETHING in NYC (Ellis Island, Central Park...) before hitting the hotel for sleep? Thanks for your help!!
Yes, 21 hours is enough time to do a lot. You will be out of customs by noon. It takes an hour to get into Manhattan by train, you could walk around until you get tired and then take the train back to JFK and then take a shuttle to your hotel.
Hi, my wife will be travelling…. from LAX (LA) to India via JFK on 3rd Dec… (with layover of only 2 hours only)... Her itinerary is ---
LAX (LA) to JFK (NY) by Jet Blue Ailrline. (She has only 2 hours in JFK arriving at Terminal 5).---
JFK(NY) to AUX ( Abu Dhabi ) by Etihad Airline, (Departing at JFK from Terminal 4).---
(AUX to India by JetAir)--

My questions….. 1) Is she required to clear Immigration at JFK or at LA?.....
2)At LAX (LA) can she book baggage directly for India, or is she required to collect baggage at JFK and check in again ?....
Please help, thanks.
There is no US Customs or Immigration when leaving the US. She won't have to claim her bags in JFK - just change terminals and go through security.

All her travel is booked on one ticket of Etihad Airline.

Hi,
I will be traveling from Washington DC (IAD) to New Delhi (DEL) and have JFK as my connecting airport from where I board the flight to India. I have a 2:25 hour layover at JFK.

My first question is will I have to go through immigration at IAD or at JFK? I do not remember from my last trip if there was an immigration check point for departures and my passport also doesn't have a US departure stamp.

My second question is, is the 2 hour 25 minutes layover time at JFK enough? Especially considering that I will be flying Delta for IAD to JFK and Air India for JFK to DEL.

My final question is, will I have to change terminals when I am arriving on a domestic flight and leaving on an international one?

Many thanks for the help.
There is no US Immigration when you leave the US. There hasn't been US departure stamps for almost 10 years. Both Delta Connection and Air India use Terminal 4. If your tickets are all on one reservation you won't have to do anything with your bags in JFK. If you purchased two separate reservations you will have to claim and re-check your bags with Air India.
I will come with norwegian airlines and afyer a few hours fly to mexico from there. Will I pass from a passport control. I am Turkish will I need a transit visa?
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in JFK and will have to transfer your bags between airlines yourself. Yes, you will need a US Transit Visa.
So, I'm about to buy AA ticket from JFK term1 to SFO. It looks like terminals are not far from each other on the airport map, but I remember taking AirTrain last year and there was somekind of a problem and the train only moved one way, and not the way I needed. So I had to go through the whole airport, and really spent a lot of time on this circle. I arrive at 5.25 pm, term1, then need to get to term8, my second flight is 8 pm. Is this enough time to make it happen? I am american, no baggage just cabin size. Thank you.
What airline are you arriving in JFK on?
Aeroflot
That will be a pretty difficult connection, especially if you have checked bags.
Are you saying 2hrs30min may not be enough?
Should I change the ticket?
I don't know if there would be a later flight you could switch to.
That's why I got this ticket. The only option is to stay in ny for the night, I'm just wondering if I should take a chance
